Granted, but because you've reached your goal, and it's no longer competitive and fun, you drop out and never do another competition again.

Granted, but then you're kicked in the head by a horse, get a serious concussion, loose most of your sight and smell, and can never ride again.

Granted. However, now that you are allowed to go the Other Island, he finds Damon Salvatore and is beaten up.
I wish Damon was allowed to be a saber tooth tiger.
