Ryland smiled when she rolled her eyes and inquired about him working with the strange waitress. It was funny that she should ask him about that. He checked once again to make sure she wasn't around, before he told her.
"This woman has a bad habit of staring at me when I come here. It's weird. It's like she hardly blinks. What's worse is that she's always very cheerful. Not good cheerful. Scary cheerful. She always has a huge grin on her face."
It may sound weird, or even funny, but he figured if she saw her, she would understand exactly what he meant. Virginia had been the same was until she ordered from the same waitress. So it wasn't just him, when ruled off him being crazy thankfully. Ryland nodded at the mention of his friends being his "new" family.
"True. Technically this place can be seen as a home. I mean this is as close to home as a shifter can get."
Well anywhere that they would feel completely comfortable. On this island, they didn't have to hide who they were. If they told someone what they shifted into, it wouldn't be the end of the world. They were safe there, so to speak. Ry was surprised she took his hand again when he pulled it back. He watched as she turned it over again, wondering if she had forgotten to mention something.
“This is for good luck… and hopefully everything I say comes true!”
He was even more surprised, however, when she bent down and kissed the palm of his hand. Her lips were soft against his hand, which got him to thinking what they would feel like against his own if he kissed her. It was a stupid thought, but he couldn't help if it came to mind. It was now that he realized he had been looking at her lips. He mentally shook himself to clear the thought and smiled. His eyes traveled down to his hand and he opened it, almost expecting something to happen. But of course nothing did.
"Does the part about the three children have to come true too?"
Maybe he would like children more when he got older. That would definitely help a lot. Ry turned to his food to eat again, before he got too distracted again. They had probably already been in the restaurant for an hour, give or take a few minutes, and hadn't even finished eating yet. Not that there was any rush to get out and it wasn't even their fault that the food took so long to get to them.
"Cool. Then we'll have to find some things to do, won't we? There's plenty of places I haven't been to yet here on the island."

Noella cringed her face a bit, if some random women kept smiling at her like she was going to kill her, she was sure she’d have a heart attack. “That’s creepy, it’s like a killer smiling at you before he slices your head off. Maybe she just wants you.” The girl teased and nibbles at a meat ball she had in her pasta, well the food was good. She had noticed a desert part of the menu and she really wanted to get a Sunday or something, maybe the two of them could share? So she didn’t seem like a total pig anyway. She nodded at his statement about this place being as close to home as they had right now, she smiled at him. “Well whenever you get home sick you can always talk to me okay? I’m part of your home now, like you’re mine!” She didn’t want him to miss his home, well she couldn’t stop him but she wanted him to be happy, and she would try her hardest to make him happy.
Her cheeks lit up when he didn’t say anything about her kissing his hand, his skin was so soft, so that had to mean his lips were soft too right? Squeaking a bit at the thought she mentally slapped herself, what a stupid thing to think of! Not in a million years would he kiss her, he didn’t like her like that. They were just friends, right? That’s most likely all they would ever be, and she was fine with that well half of her was fine with that. The other half wanted more, but she knew she could never let that side of her show if it hadn’t already shown itself to Ryland.
“Yes! If it doesn’t come true then bad things will happen to you!” She teased and grinned at him, no bad things would happen to him of course, but it was still funny to mess with the male. She continued to eat and listen to him talk about something they could do after they finished. “H-How about the beach? I haven’t been there yet, have you?” Noella hadn’t been anywhere besides the school and the school grounds so she was up for anything, but the beach was a place she hadn’t been in years.

Ryland tried to keep the disgusted look off his face when she said that maybe the waitress just wanted him. He didn't think that was it at all. Well, he was really hoping that wasn't it. His skin crawled at the thought of it.
"Ew. That's just wrong. Besides, I think she's like..thirty or something. And I'm pretty sure I've seen her staring at a few other people too."
Not that there was anything wrong with people at the age of thirty. Only when they had a crush on him. The thought kind of weirded him out. Now when he saw her, that's what he was going to think of. He noticed the bread in the middle of the table and picked one up. Somehow he had completely forgotten that he had ordered bread too. All he had been doing since he got there was forgetting about stuff, and he had no clue why either. Ry smiled when she said he could talk to her if he ever missed home.
"Thanks. I appreciate the offer. It's nice to know I have someone to talk to about that kind of stuff."
Not that his other friends wouldn't listen or anything. Most of them, that is. It was hard to tell how they would react to that type of conversation, though. He gave her an offended look when she said that if they didn't come true, then bad things would happen to him. Of course it was a fake offended look. He smiled and thought of something.
"You just wanted to curse me, didn't you? Now I'll have to aim for three kids," he teased.
Ryland didn't actually believe in curses. He thought that no matter what happened, it was meant to happen. Some people didn't agree with him, but everyone had their own opinions about stuff like that. He looked down at the bread in his hand and back up at her before he smiled. He tore a piece of it off and tossed it at her. When she asked about the beach, he grinned.
"That's a great idea! I love the beach, although I haven't had a chance to go to the one here yet."
He hadn't realized how loud he had said that until it had actually came out and he cringed slightly. Oops. He looked down at his pants, almost having forgot he was wearing shorts under it. Most of the time he wore a pair of shorts under his pants, because he never knew where he would be going, or if he would get too hot.

The girl couldn’t help but laugh when he gave her a look, she sipped her drink and tried to find something else to say so he wouldn’t look like he was going to puke. “Pretend it’s me, whose looking at you… or would that be just as icky?” Her face turned pink when she said that though, if the male did think it would be just as wrong, it might break her heart into two, but he wouldn’t say something like that out loud right? Hopefully not, it happened before and she didn’t know what she would do if it happened again. However, her attention was turned to the male once more, good he wanted to talk to her, but how? Maybe if it was in the middle of the night? Flailing her arms a bit she held out her hand. “H-Here… give me your phone and I can put my number in and you can call me whenever you want!” Her voice was a little shaky though, she was nervous. He might not let her.
Noella blushed a bit and flailed her arms at his offended look, she didn’t mean it! Really! A small whine passed her lips and she gave him a look back that screamed she was sorry, but it wasn’t until he tossed her some bread which she began to nibble on and dip into the extra sauce did she smile at him, okay he was only kidding, good good. She thought about going to the beach and she smiled even more, which was even more exciting since he said he would love to go with her, they could have so much fun, walking and talking more. Also she could look for sea glass since believe it or not she use to collect it as a child.
She easily finished her pasta and began to work on her salad, she wasn’t a fast eater normally she just hadn’t eaten all day. “If you get to hot, you can always take your pants off, so long as you have something under them.” The male was wearing black pants, tight black pants for that matter and she was sure the male could get very hot out by the water, though she turned pink at the thought of the male stripping down to his skivvies she didn’t want him to start to turn into a chicken wing or something, cooking in the sun.

Ryland smiled when she said he could pretend the waitress was her looking at him if he wanted. That wasn't a bad idea if he could pull it off. It was hard to replace someone with that woman when she was staring at him like she did.
"That sounds like a great idea."
He cleared his thoughts away from the waitress, though. No way was he going to let her ruin his time at the restaurant - she wasn't even there for one thing. He was confused when she held out her hand. What did she want? Just as he asked himself that question, she told him. Oh, clever idea.
Ry reached into his pocket to get his cell phone and handed it over. This saved him from having to remember to ask her later on if they could exchange numbers or something. Usually he asked for friends numbers, even if he didn't know if he would call or text them. It was just nice to know the option was there if he ever wanted to.
He continued eating, almost tired of sitting down after all of that waiting. His body was getting cramped up from not moving around so much. It reminded him back when he attended school in California; the classes were usually really boring. Now he had fun classes that he liked, though. He leaned back into his seat and stretched a little. Ry laughed at her last comment. She must have been reading his mind or something.
"I guess pants aren't really that great for beaches, huh? Luckily I have shorts on as well, so we're good."
Ry glanced down at the menus that the waiter hadn't even taken up. He had probably been so embarrassed with how things had gone since they had gotten there, that he was just forgetting more stuff. He almost felt bad for him. He smiled and looked up at her.
"There are two obsessions you should probably know about me. One, I really love fish. Being a bird, that should be self explanatory. The other...I love Sour Patch Kids. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of them, but basically it's a type of sour candy. There's usually some somewhere. If they aren't with me, they're in my room somewhere."
He usually got the bigger bags for his room and the smaller ones to carry around with him. Or he just put some in a ziplock bag to carry around. That was much easier than lugging around the whole bag. Some people thought his obsession with them were weird, but that was because those that thought that had been normal people. They didn't understand about his "inner self."

Well good he didn’t seem totally repulsed by the idea of him pretending it was her whenever he saw that weird waitress, but a thought popped into her head. “Do..you come here a lot? God, that sounds like a cheesy pick up line.” The girl blushed a little bit and looked at her hands, she was already done eating, she was too excited to go to the beach now so she had hurried herself to eat, not her stomach hurt a bit but she pushed that thought aside for now. She didn’t care she just wanted to have gun with Ryland. Taking his phone she added her number in and smiled a little bit, offering it back to the male she gave a smile. “Here! Put your number in my phone too!” She took her red juke phone out and offered it to the male after she returned his phone back to him, her smile was still there.
Noella pursed her lips after a moment or two, he looked so bored just sitting there. “When you’re done we can go to the beach?” She said and as she said that the waiter came with the check, taking it she nodded and pulled out her wallet and shoved some money inside, the change was his tip. The girl grinned at the boy and nodded slowly, agreeing that maybe pants weren’t the best thing to wear to the beach. “Well, so long as you’re not dying of heat stroke and turning into a chicken wing, you’ll be okay.” She pursed her lips and tried hard not to smile at him, bit she completely failed.
Obsessions? What did he mean? The girl listened to him and smiled at him, awe how cute! He liked Sour Patch Kids?! Those things were really yummy. “Of course I know what they are! They’re so good.” She said softly and pouts a little bit. Being with Ryland made her happy, she stood and pursed her lips a little bit, it was clear she wanted to get going and go to the beach, but then she sat back down, feeling bad for maybe pushing him to eat faster or something, she didn’t want to rush him. She was just really excited and ready to go!

Ryland shook his head at her question. "No, not really. I've only been one or two other times."
He kind of liked the place, though. Somehow. But it really didn't matter who liked it and who didn't, because it wasn't like there were many restaurants to choose from on the island. Of course he hadn't been on the other island either. Where the humans were.. maybe they had a restaurant, but they had to be much more careful over there. Ry took his phone from her and put it back in his pocket before taking hers to add his own number in. When he handed it back, he noticed the look on her face.
“When you’re done we can go to the beach?”
"Sorry, I hope I don't look like I'm not having fun. I am, it's just my body is cramping up from sitting down too long."
When the waiter brought their check, he got out some money of his own. No way was he going to let her pay for it by herself. Besides, he didn't have a clue how much his was. He never looked at the price when he chose earlier. Ry heard her joke about him turning into a chicken wing from all of the heat and laughed. Yeah, that would kind of suck.
"Oh, a chicken wing, because I turn into a bird?" he asked laughing. That was pretty good. A bird joke. "Well, even if I didn't have any shorts on, if it got that bad I could just jump in the water."
Sure, he would be soaked, but at least he wouldn't be so hot anymore. Or he could have jumped in naked if it wasn't such a public place. He picked up his glass of tea and emptied it. So she liked sour patch kids too, huh? He wasn't sure whether that was good or bad. Good, because it meant they liked the same thing. Bad, because she might eat all of his. Well, maybe not. He watched her stand up, but then sit back down and laughed.
"It's okay, we can go now. I am so tired of sitting down." He stood up from the table and stuffed his wallet back into his back pocket. She was obviously read to leave too, so he didn't think she would protest. "Btw, I guess I'm going to have to hide my sour patch kids from you, huh?" he teased.

The girl nodded, okay so he hadn’t been there and read the newspaper like an old man would. Good. She giggled at the thought of the male dressed as her grandfather or something, kind of funny. When he said he was indeed having fun but it was just him sitting for so long that hurt, she took in a sigh of relief, her mind seemed to enjoy playing tricks on her today really about if the male was enjoying himself or if he wasn’t. He seemed to be ready to go too, so that was good she wasn’t rushing him like she had thought she was before. “I thought I was rushing you… s-sorry…” She whispered gently and looked away from him for a moment, but her blue eyes went back watched him take his own money out. “L-Let me pay for my half?” She interjected, but it was a little too late, huffing she stood up and took the male’s hand gently in her own, giving him an ‘I owe you’ look.
Grinning from ear to ear she slowly walked out of the restaurant with him in tow and shrugged a little bit. “I’m soo clever, aren’t I?” She teased, she really wasn’t but she was glad he thought her silly child like jokes were even the slightest bit funny. Taking in a breath she tired to use her animal instincts to find water, it wasn’t hard when she engulfed a large amount of salty tasting hair and began to cough. “I think it’s this way….” She mused gently to herself about how that was a horrible idea since now her mouth and lips tasted well to her like salt. She held on tight to his hand, her fingers slowly began to lace with his like he was going to disappear the moment she let him go for any reason what’s so ever.
It was late in the afternoon by the time they got to the beach and began to walk down a set of wooden steps from the board walk into the warm sand. She grinned and slowly slipped her flip flops off, shook them of any lose sand and put them in her purse. “Maybe it would be the right time to take your pants off? I can shove them in my bag.” Being a total girl she was, she had already found the perfect hiding spot for her things under the wooden dock. She slowly got into the sand and put her things behind one of the wood poles before jumping back up and hugging him gently. Telling him without words to hurry, because she was already making her way to the water. Stepping close enough the tide could come in and wet her feet she shivered. Oh lord it was cold, but that didn’t stop her from going in deeper.
Noella grinned when the boy finally came close enough to her this time, she cupped her hands under the water and splashed him with the cool salty water, her tongue was once more protruding from her lips, in a child like manner to what she had done.

[Finally. We’re getting somewhere, haha. The first part was the good part. This is the better part.]
Ryland noticed her “I owe you” look and he grinned, allowing her to take his hand again. He was still trying to figure out whether a lunch date was an actual date or just called that because they agreed to meet up and eat there together. Not that it actually mattered. But they weren’t even dating, so it was likely the second. He gladly followed her out of the restaurant, glad they had finally gotten out of there. It was fun, but he didn’t want to be in there for hours. He smirked slightly when she mentioned how clever she was.
“Maybe,” he teased. “Maybe not.”
Ry was trying to determine which way the beach was, but he had already said he hadn’t even been there. So he didn’t know for sure and he didn’t want to get them lost. Well, technically it would be a little hard to get lost. But he didn’t want to lead them around in circles trying to find it either. Apparently she had been doing the same thing that he had been doing, because after a moment she spoke up. “I think it’s this way….” “I knew that,” he thought to himself. “Maybe not.”
“Ah, the beach. It feels great.” Ry took his own shoes off when she took her flip flops off. He didn’t like getting sand in his shoes. It was too uncomfortable.
“Maybe it would be the right time to take your pants off? I can shove them in my bag.”
“Okay.” He hadn’t thought about the sand getting on them, even if he had taken them off. “Thanks.”
He took her suggestion and had just started unbuttoning them, when she hugged him. He smiled when he saw the look she gave him, almost telling her that he could hurry if she let him go. But he didn’t have to, because she did just that, making her way towards the water. He pulled them off and then his shirt, making his way towards the water after putting them away from the sand. The water was up to his knees when she splashed him. Laughing, he tried to “hide” from it, but there was obviously nowhere to go. His own hand dipped into the water and he splashed it at her. After doing so, he moved further into the water; that was the best way to get used to it.
“Man, this water is freezing!”
It was even worse now that it was up to his waist. Maybe he shouldn’t have taken his shirt off after all. He attempted to splash her again, but with even more water this time.

Her smile was warm and wider now then ever before, she began to hum as she padded through the water in search of treasures inside the water. She wanted to find something special for him. She was like a child who was at the beach for the first time, scanning the water for the shells and any other odd things you might normally not see in the water. However she squeaked when she felt a splash of cold water back at herself. She whined playfully and moved over to him and pushes him, a weak attempt yes, but she was still able to push him fully into the water. “Ha! Got you!” She teased and went to search.
Soon something caught the girl’s eye and she quickly dove into the water, getting herself wetter then can be, she was no where as drenched at the boy but she was still pretty wet. “N-No! Come back here!” She screamed like she was taking to a real person, soon she grinned in victory and held the little thing she was so desperate to catch. Moving back over to Ryland she grinned at him and held her hands out. “I got something for you!” In her hand was a piece of blue sea glass, the little thing she had tried so hard to get for him. “I can make it into a necklace for you, if you want me to anyway…” She said softly and turned a bright pink, would he like something like that? She hoped so since she honestly would have loved to get a piece of sea glass from someone, or even a pearl. Now that would have been so romantic.
She waited for his answer and began to shiver a little bit, it was getting colder in the water since the day was getting cooler itself, so she moved closer to the male and blushed a bit more, she hadn’t really noticed (well she did but tired not to think about it) how good looking Ryland was, she remembered the first time they met and asking about his girlfriend and was told he didn’t have one. It was hard to believe really, he was so handsome and sweet, she was sure any girl would have thrown themselves at him, but they didn’t. She honestly was glad, he didn’t have one. In her own selfish little way she thought this, which made her feel a bit bad. She had a chance, but maybe he didn’t want to give her a chance? Who knew.

Ryland hadn't been expecting her to push him in, so when she did, he didn't even get the chance to try and catch his balance before he fell backwards. Right into the cold water. Luckily the sun was still out, so that when he stood back up, it shined on his skin and warmed him up some.
“Ha! Got you!”
He started to get her back, but realized she was looking for something. If he pushed her into the water now, she might just lose it. He didn’t want to be the cause of her losing it, if she did. So instead he splashed more water at her. It wasn’t the best payback, but would have to do. Apparently she had found what she had been searching before. He could see her face light up when she did and started to move back over to him. Ry stood all the way up out of the water and looked down at her hands as she held them open to him. In it was a piece of blue sea glass. He picked it up out of her hand and held it closer to look at it better. A lot of people seemed to have a fascination with sea glass.
“I can make it into a necklace for you, if you want me to anyway…”
He looked up at her. "Really? You would make me one with this?" he asked, returning it to her hand. "That would be great."
Nobody had ever offered to make him a necklace out of something they had found. Maybe they didn't know how to make one out of whatever they had. But usually whatever anyone had found, they kept for themselves. Even if there were a hundred more that could easily be found. His eyes fell to her dress which was almost soaked by now. It still had a few dry spots on it, but not many. Even he had to admit that she looked beautiful. He had noticed earlier as well, when he had been afraid he had made her wait too long. But he was trying not to stare, because he was afraid that she would catch him doing it.
Ryland licked his lips and looked back up at her. There was a reason he had wanted to kiss her since he had met up with her that morning. But, everyone’s biggest problem, was figuring out whether the other person felt the same way. Sure, they had held hands several times that day, and they were only friends. But he didn’t know how she treated her friends. Did she always do that or did she only do it to guys she liked? He hated not knowing and feeling like an idiot, because he wouldn’t just ask. But it sounded stupid when he said it in his head.
“Can I ask you something?” He took a deep breath. “Can I kiss you?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, he mentally kicked himself. That was meant for his head, not out loud. What if it sounded stupid? But he couldn’t turn back now without really looking like an idiot. Maybe he should have just gone for it, but he was afraid that would have gone really wrong. It was better to ask first since he didn’t know.

The girl scowled playfully when she was splashed at more, her body crooned inward as if to try and avoid all of those wet droplets of water. “Ryland!” She called out and huffed softly, though her smile was still wide on her face. He was so silly, so sweet. Perfect, if there was such thing as perfection she was sure Ryland could have been it. She smiled even more when he said he could like a necklace made from the sea glass, good. Most people found that silly or child like, but she thought it was sweet, it was like a priceless gift that you couldn’t replace with money. It came from the heart and she was glad he wanted that kind of gift.
Her cheeks heated up more and her eyes slowly moved away from his own, he was looking at her funny. If it was a good funny or bad funny she couldn’t tell , she would have to look at him again but she couldn’t. It hurt too. Why did her heart like skip so much whenever their eyes met in such a way? It was almost breath taking, his eyes. They were the perfect blue, not glow in the dark like hers. Suddenly her breath completely stopped and so did he heart for a moment only in shock, but still. He asked to kiss her. Really? He wanted to kiss her of all people? She didn’t answer right away her heart was in her throat, her mind was trying to mull over and understand all the words he had just said. Slowly she came too from her daze.
Her arms wrapped themselves around his neck and she gave a small nod, her face was blushed a bright crimson. His skin was still so soft from what she had remembered in the restaurant. The girl pressed herself against him lightly and moved to push their lips together, his lips were just as soft too. Noella was so shocked, she was really kissing him, really touching him in a way that she hadn’t let herself hold someone before. Her first kiss. It was perfect, it wasn’t horrible like she would have thought, it was gentle and the person she was kissing made her feel like the best person alive. Ry;and was amazing.

Ryland knew he had failed at hiding his stares from her, but he couldn’t help it. It was hard not to. Somehow staring at her wasn’t nearly as embarrassing as him asking her if he could kiss her either. He was standing right in front of her, and they were already standing fairly close to one another, so neither was likely to successfully hide something without the other noticing. Maybe his outside appearance appeared calm while he waited for her to answer, but inside he was praying that he hadn’t sounded like an idiot. Or at least praying she wouldn’t say no. He wasn’t sure whether her not answering right away should be taken as a good sign or a bad sign, but he kept himself from assuming one or the other. Even in his head, it wasn’t safe for him to do that.
Eventually she lifted her arms and placed them around his neck, which made him want to breathe out a sigh of relief. Technically she hadn’t given any sign of a yes or a no, but he took that as a good sign. His breathing grew unsteady when she nodded and pressed herself up against him. Ry leaned his head forward to meet her lips as she did. His arms fell against her waist and he slid one hand up against her lower back to keep her there as they kissed. He was so caught up in the moment that he almost forgot they were standing in water. Almost oblivious to the small waves brushing up against his legs as they rolled toward the shore. He reluctantly pulled away after a moment and opened his eyes. His hands moved back towards her waist. For a moment he didn’t even know what to say, but finally he said the first thing that came to his mind.
“Wow.” He was glad she hadn’t refused. “So I’m guessing this means I was right back at the Concert Hall? You do think I’m cute.”
Grinning, he slid his hand up her arm until it reached her hand where she held the sea glass that she had found a few minutes ago. He took it from her so she wouldn’t lose it and then pulled away from her.
“By the way, this is for earlier.”
He gently grabbed her arms and then pushed her backwards into the water. Hopefully she would be wishing she hadn’t pushed him in earlier. Laughing, he moved a little closer to shore, so she wouldn’t be tempted to push him in again.

Everything was like a dream. The location, the kiss, the feeling of him against her. It didn’t seem real at all. However it was, it was all real and it was all happening to her. Never before had this happened so it was all knew to her. Was she a good kisser? Or was she bad? Well he hadn’t pulled away yet so that must have meant she was doing good right? Her body crooned into his and she held on tighter him as their kiss progressed. Did this mean they could kiss all the time? Well not all the time, but more then they had before. She hoped so, she really liked Ryland, he was the first to break her out of her shell so much so that she was willing to kiss someone. He was special, like she needed to tell herself this twice.
As he pulled away, she whined gently, clearly not liking the fact he did indeed pull away from their kiss. Had she done something wrong? Her expression was worried, but then it turned a bright pink at his questions, way to ruin a moment Ryland. “You’re such a vain birdy. But… I do think you’re cute.” She admitted and looked away from him, there she said it. He had been right all the time she did think he was cute when they first met, thus being half the reason why she was so damn shy around him.
Suddenly he pulled away and then she was in the water. Ryland! Whining she jumped up as soon as her bum hit the cold water and she tackled him into the soft sand, a scowl was on her face as she pinned him on his back, her own body was sitting on his hips, the position didn’t bother her at first, since she had just been pushed into the cold water. “Way to ruin the nice moment, you goober.” The girl grinned at him none the less and leaned down to gently kiss his cheek, her lips barely touched the cool surface of them, but she did kiss him. Slowly she pulled back and then turned a bright pink once more, now she had noticed the awkward position she had put herself in on him, god she was such a silly girl sometimes. Not thinking. She never thought.

"I knew it,” he said laughing.
Well he couldn’t have been certain; if he had been, he wouldn’t have been so embarrassed about asking if he could kiss her. But he had his own suspicions. Ry had just wanted to hear her say it. Well he had convinced himself that he needed to hear her say it. For what reason, he didn’t know. Maybe it just made him feel better. But she had said yes, so she must have thought he was at least cute. When he had pushed her in the water, he hadn’t expected her to get up so fast. What happened next definitely hadn’t been something he had been expecting.
She tackled him right onto the sand and the sea glass fell from his hand. He was laughing so much that he almost didn’t noticed. At least he thought it had been a good move on his part. It was the best time to get payback. He turned his head to see where the sea glass had landed and then grinned, looking back up at her. He had half a mind to apologize, but he wasn’t actually sorry. If he was, he probably wouldn’t be thinking about how hilarious the situation was.
“It seemed like the perfect time to get you back for pushing me in earlier.” He paused as he pretended to think. “I might have grown a little vain. Just a little.”
He watched as she bent down towards him and felt her lips touch his skin. Well they had gotten past the kissing part, which hadn’t been as embarrassing –for him at least- after he had gotten past asking. She seemed to have caught on quickly as well. Ry still felt he should probably ask about dating, though. They hadn’t gotten to either of their views on the topic. After all, they had held hands while they were friends, even though for the most part it was brief intervals. So maybe, even though they had kissed, it wasn’t the same thing as dating. The thought of it sent his head spinning in circles. He pulled himself out from under her just enough so that he could sit up.
“I think this is yours.”
Ryland kissed her again, but only briefly, before he reached his hand out and grabbed the sea glass. He held it up to her for her to take. It was now that he could feel how cold the air had gotten. Also, they were both soaking wet and not wearing much clothing. She had a dress on and he was in shorts. The only difference was that technically he could put his shirt and pants back on. But he didn’t want to leave just yet. Not without asking her something first. He bit his lip, contemplating how he should ask the question, though.
“I would hate to assume that us kissing is more than just that. Us kissing.” Not only that, but he wasn’t the type of guy to have a friend just for kissing – or other stuff. “So to make it more clear for the both of us… I was wondering if you would like to go out with me.”
Oh how he hated asking someone out.
