A secret revealed... Tales of magic and creatures of the night have plagued a child's imagination since before the most knowledgeable historian can say. Horror movies centered on ghostly encounters and vampiric fiends have been popular throughout the ages as well. Many religions even, each seem to reference supernatural activity in their own degree. Yet the idea of anything inhuman is scoffed at with haste. The degree to which thousands of civilizations could be wrong is surprisingly large. The world hides more secrets than anyone could imagine. For as long as and as unexplicably as humans have been around, there has also been another presence not entirely separate. The idea has been hinted at and battered around for centuries. Most of the truth being obscured by human sight and ignorance, but noticed none the less.
These Shadow-Walkers lay low in the human society, preferring large cities such as New York where blending in becomes a matter of living. Occasionally there is a slip up- someone notices a horn or two. These generally escalate into "alien invasions" or other events of similar craze when perceived by the world's more...eccentric humans. Forces cloak these unusual beasts and creatures from being discovered, most probably some sort of ancient magic put in place years and years ago. By allowing a lack of harassment, this veil allows the beasts to interact in their own society.
Unnoticeable to the untrained eye, the monster life in Brooklyn is very much alive. Especially at night, the clubs, streets, and stores are filled with terrors that humans belive to be only the creation of someone's imagination. During the day they have desk occupations, jobs at fast food places, and more. Many of them might even be your neighbour. In this disguise, they are just as human as everyone else, while being something far more dangerous and completely different. Life was quiet for much of the time, even in the booming cities full of crime.
However, all things come to an end. There have been suspicious whisperings through the underground network of the Shadow-Walkers. Reports of humans who may have actually seen a creature for what it truly was. Most are skeptical. Why would their veil be failing them now? Every year the creatures most in-tune with the magical forces make sure that nothing like this happens. Sitll, rumours are beginning to spread to even the children. It doesn't stop there either. Not only has the recent news given all creatures in Brooklyn a reason to look over their shoulders, a series of murders has more cause for alarm. A couple of mischievous monsters being killed in what would have been a gang fight of some sort caught no attention at first. It happened from time to time. Still, when a child goes missing and the friendly old medicine witch from down the street is found dead in her home with her mouth crudely sewn shut in an eternal smile and her body stuffed full of sawdust, suspicion and fear jump to extremes. A sort of "racist" notion is intensified, each creature choosing to associate with its own kind, unless it is bold.
Will you survive theBeasts in Brooklyn?
