Likes:
- Math: Oliver has always had a fascination for numbers, something that is a challenge to figure out and makes him feel accomplished when it is done.
- Flying: The sensation of being up in the air, with no limits, to go up or down, side to side, with the wind against your face . . . amazing.
- Girls: Oliver has always liked girls, yes, but he's a boy. What else?
- Nighttime: Something about the night, the mystery, the hidden things, the sudden life . . . it is just amazing to Oliver.
- Heights: If might have to do with flying, but high places draw Oliver; some of his favorite places are actually barn lofts, or the tops of bell towers.
- Strange Foods: Ok, not strange, but different; Oliver doesn't mind opening his food pallet, and he even likes 'horrifying' things like insects--cooked, please.
- Openness: Oliver gets claustrophobic quite easily, and so he likes to have space to breath, move around.
- Discussions: Sure, small talk is gets you started, but he likes to get into discussions, actually be talking about something more worthwhile than the weather.
- Facts: Oliver likes hard facts; sure, some fluff is ok, but beating around the bush and making up things is just pure nonsense.
- Stealth: Exaggerating, but Oliver, when he doesn't want to be noticed, can actually do it quite well.
Dislikes:
- Day: Yes, it is necessary to be out in it, but it is just so bland; sunlight, woo, what of it?
- Forests: Well, anything like forests, because Oliver just doesn't like tight, confined space with no room to breath or, in his case, spread wings.
- Small Talk: Can anybody say awkward?
- Winds: Truthfully, winds scare him; they can have such force behind them and can pretty much ruin a lot of things and blow some junk around.
- Quitters: Oliver hates people that just give up on things, have no confidence in themselves and such.
- Liars: People who think it's cool to tell things that aren't necessarily true just irk Oliver.
- Alcohol&Drugs: Oliver thinks it is idiotic to take these things, when people clearly see what they do to you.
- Performing: Oliver, sadly, has no musical talent whatsoever; therefore, he dreads any performing arts.
- Underground: Being under the ground, where things could fall on you easily and the air is stale does not sound appealing.
- Airplanes: Doesn't make sense, right? But Oliver hates airplanes, because though it is up in the air, it is too constricting, and he'd much rather fly there himself, if you know what I mean.
Fears:
- Claustrophobia: Anything that would put him in a situation where he couldn't move and things were all around him, closely, just freaks him out.
- Tornado: Come on, who wants an ULTRA MEGA WIND STORM?! He already doesn't like the wind.
- Loneliness: Oliver just doesn't want to end up being alone in life; he wants a girl, or at least constant friends.
Strengths:
- Smarts: Oliver has been very smart since a kid, and whether it came naturally or by hard work, he kinda doesn't know (or won't say).
- Awareness: He loves to keep tabs on everything around him, and can pretty much know when something is wrong, and what is good and bad, etc etc
- Calmness: In tough situations, Oliver has learned to keep as calm as possible, knowing that getting upset won't do anything.
Weaknesses:
- Ignorance: Sometimes Oliver relies so much on his brain he ignores all other qualities needed.
- Spacey: Because Oliver likes to be aware of things around him, something he gets a little too intent in it and forgets what he is doing or doesn't respond to questions.
- Explosion! Since he has learned to keep calm, he has to put the anger somewhere; and then when somebody accidentally tips over all that stored anger. . . it can get ugly.
Overall: [400 words minimum]
Oliver William Lacer is an interesting character. Let's start off with the basics:
He's a nice guy. He will smile and talk to you, and be your friend if you want. He just might be a little distracted while doing it. Oliver enjoys many things, so if enjoys too many at once, it isn't the best time to start up a conversation with him. You might get one word answers.
When Oliver was young, he had a lot of friends. Then a fatal day in seventh grade shot his self-confidence, and he has had a shaky self-confidence ever since. When somebody talks to him, he will be happy, and he made a friend! But after, he always wonders what they thought of him, if they really thought he was ok, or if he was a nerd, or . . . etc etc. It's gotten a little bit better since then, but old habits die hard.
One of the reasons he might think that they might deem him nerd is because, well, he is. He doesn't walk around in suspenders and glasses and his pants only reaching his ankles, but he does love school. Oliver loves learning new things, and being good at them. He has a passion for math, mostly. And, no, he is not crazy. It is fun to see a problem, do a series of crazy things, and get an answer that actually makes sense. And yes, math is used everywhere in the world, and he now knows that.
Oliver loves the night. There is no logically reason why, but he just loves being out at night. He often takes long walks at two or three in the morning, just to be out. He isn't afraid of the dark--he embraces it. There is something about the mystery, how something so ominous can still be so full of life. And because he goes out at night, he has learned to be very quiet. One, because he doesn't want to disturb the creatures at night, and he also doesn't want to disturb his roommates as he leaves.
The ability to go about quietly has leaked into other areas of his life. Oliver often likes to go about his work, not making a ripple in the pond of life he lives in. He comes and goes, and often people don't see him unless he makes himself known. (This is, yes, in a figurative sense, meaning, that nobody really knows he has something to do with an activity unless he makes himself known to it. Kinda get it?)
Most times, Oliver has patience. But sometimes, he slips. It is mostly around immature, lazy people who don't really care about anything. He works hard in life, why shouldn't they? His temper doesn't show much, but when it shows, it shows. Of course, he doesn't go around stomping on things like Godzilla, he just become bitter and yells at the smallest things.

Appearance: [400 words minimum]
For his whole life, Oliver hasn't been too concerned for his appearance. Why should he, he's a guy! Yes, that is stereotypical, but it is true in this case. There is nothing extravagant about his features, but they aren't plain either. He has blond hair, though it also has a few brown-dark browns here and there. He usually keeps it short, and just wears it spiked up a little bit, or, when he is lazy, just runs a hand through it and calls it good. Oliver's eyes are a deep, deep brown, almost black from far away. Oliver's face can be any emotion he want, but his eyes portray it all if you just look. They are truly the windows to his soul. Slap on a modest nose and a soft mouth, maybe some ears too, and you have an Oliver face.
Standing at about 5'9", he is a little shorter than some of the boys around him; he has never minded, though. He also has a simple fashion, usually going for just solid colored shirts, and maybe a jacket over it. Oliver also likes simple things like stripes, but he has never been one for patterns, or strange designs on his shirts. One reason is that he might be scared. Yes, scared. He never really knows what to wear, whether it will look ridiculous or not, so he just goes simple and plain so he doesn't have to worry about it. And it has worked out so far.
When he shifts into his owl, he likes the way he looks. Some might call him vain. He is about 15" in length, with a wingspan of about 42". From the front, the entire body looks white, unless you get a little peek at the wings. The wings have light brown feathers, with white and black patterned specks dotting the edge (and sometimes further up). The specked tan also comes up to cover the top of the head. Black eyes are set in the middle of a "satellite dish" face, which is rimmed in a heart shape. The "satellite dish" part helps the owl to pick up more sounds, which go to hidden ears. The beak, which is sharply curved down, is half covered in fur, and is almost flat against the face; it is also pretty deadly sharp. The feathering tapers off around the legs, which are a yellowish-tan color and hold razor sharp talons. These two combined, beak and talons, can kill prey in one fell swoop.

...history
Parents: John and Kara Lacer
Siblings: Sarah, 14; Keili, 11; Ben, 9
[400 words minimum]
John and Kara were like any other couple, with a normal life. They got married, had a nice life together, and four years after, they had their first child: Oliver William Lacer. They were proud, new parents. But to be honest, Oliver never got any special treatment. He was loved, fed, taught to talk and walk, and grew up. Then Sarah came along, and Oliver realized something: all his mother wanted was a girl.
So, yes, Oliver was still loved, but Sarah was adored. Maybe that was the reason Oliver loved school so much. It was a place where Sarah wasn't there to get all the attention. Maybe that is why he tried so hard, because he soon caught the teacher's attention in every class, and he was soon praised for his work. But the class that the teacher praised him the most was in math. The teacher loved him. He was the only one who volunteered, who always got 100% on the tests. The only class he struggled in was Music, but he tried to let that go. So he was able to get through home life, and prance through school life.
So by the time Keili came along, he wasn't phased by the attention. But Sarah was. She now knew how it was to be pushed off the the side for something new and shiny. Then, despite all the things Sarah had done to his life, he took her under his wing. The only thing he could do was help her academically (because that was the only thing he could do), and in turn she helped him meet more kids at school. Up through elementary school, Oliver became popular. It was so exciting for him. He was smart, and he was popular. He wasn't mad at Sarah. Hey, he even had a little brother now! Oliver tried to be the best older brother, and it was working. Life was good.
Seventh grade came rolling around, and . . . the parents told them they were moving. Everything came crashing down. All the children sat around complaining, whining, crying, but nothing phased the parents. So they moved. Oliver started seventh grade knowing nobody. But he met people and it was kind-of looking up. Then a big jerk in math class, one day, felt the unnecessary need to make fun of him, and the rest of the class felt the unnecessary need to tag along. That type of thing had never happened to Oliver, and it kinda crushed him inside. In the back of his head there was this strange buzz, and right when the bell rang, he ran. He didn't just run to his next class, he started running home. Slowly, the buzz started spreading to the rest of his brain, and then down his spine . . . Oliver hadn't realized what had happened until he was soaring in the sky, his owl wings gliding over the air. Well, naturally, he was freaked out, folded in his wings, and crashed into a tree. After a few seconds of wondering why he was in a strange dream, he figured he better go with it. He jumped out of the tree and flew home. His mother was out working in the garden and he landed by her. He opened his mouth, because, come on, he thought he could talk in a dream. His mom freaked when she heard little screeches. She tried to shoo him away, but after a second, she wondered. "Oliver?" she whispered, and when the bird, in a strange bird was, consented. She groaned, grabbed him, and took him to his room. It took another hour for him to change back.
Then came the explanation. Apparently the mother could turn into a blue jay, and the father could turn into an eagle. It took awhile for Oliver, master of logic, to even consider that this was reality, and he was not still dreaming.
But eventually, as it shows by him at the school, he believed it. The thing that helped him believe it was that they said he was going to a special school, and he was just happy he didn't have to go to that junior high again. But Oliver has always been wary of his schoolmates, until he gets to know them. But it has been pretty good. So far.
