Overall:

Alexis is always happy, except when she's not. She is prone to severe mood swings (though she doesn't have Bi-Polar disorder), and tends to contradict herself when expressing an pinion on any sort of matter. If you were to know Alexis for any substantial length of time, you would most likely be utterly confused by her wildly varying opinions. One day she hates sequences, and the next, she's obsessing over Fibonacci numbers. Alexis is a giant seething mass that contradicts everything that it used to hold true.

To many, it must seem that Alexis lives and works in a mess. In reality, Alexis is a very organized person, though her methods of organization are far beyond most people. She tends to organize her areas using patterns that look completely random at first sight, but after working with them for a while, make perfect sense.

Alexis enjoys spending large swathes of time in her owl form pondering different arguments, and can often spend long hours in the night debating herself. Also, Alexis sleeps very little, having developed a sleep system that requires her to sleep about two hours every couple of weeks. This results in a large amount of free time for her to do what she wants.

Alexis, in her free time, enjoys exercising, practicing her archery, reading, painting, drawing, and practicing her martial arts. She enough time to do so many things due to her lack of needing to sleep.

To her students, Alexis must seem to be a very eccentric and disorganized person, as she will sometimes forget, or simply ignore assignments or units simply because she deems them useless. Her judgment of things is usually backed up by huge amounts of research and mental debate with herself, and is usually almost impossible to disagree with unless the opposing party has spent an equal amount of time thinking about their side, which they usually haven't.

Alexis loves challenges and often goes out of her way to find people who approach her intelligence level. She is not, however so blind as to purposely make things harder for herself, as she believes that life has enough problems with out adding your own on purpose.

Alexis loves all new technology, and embraces changes to the previous norm without a second glance. She believes that improvement always lies in the future.

In summary, Alexis is a very complicated person that seems at first to be at war with herself, but upon further investigation, is revealed to be governed by a long and complex series of mathematical laws that were specifically formulated by Alexis herself to ensure optimal ability to function

Appearance:
Alexis is built very lightly, and often looks starved. This is due to her lack of sleep and that she often skips meals. Alexis has neck length black hair that never seems to look the same. She has dark grey-green eyes that always seem to be looking through you.

Alexis usually wears outfits that are mostly white and black, with red highlights. An example of this would be her standard outfit, which consists of a white sweatshirt (usually unzipped), black cargo pants, and a white and red shirt. Alexis is very fond of hats, having amassed a collection of several hundred throughout her travels. Alexis does not typically wear shoes, as she enjoys the feeling of her feet on the ground.

Alexis also wears a pair of glasses that are apparently indestructible, as they have survived everything that Alexis has been through. They are a gun metal grey, which is a little ironic, as she is afraid of guns.

Alexis very rarely wears make up, and she looks fine without it. She tends to look down on others who wear lots of make up, or alter their bodies. She believes that people should be proud of who they are, and not who they want to be.

Alexis takes very good care of her body, bathing at least one hour each day. She always make sure to keep her feet clean, as she understands that some find bare feet disgusting. Alexis has a very large tattoo on her back, chest, and upper arms and legs. The tattoo is a feather pattern, though in the right lighting it lends her an almost draconic appearance. She designed the tattoo herself, and if you look very closely, you can see that there are numbers in the feathers.

In her owl form, Alexis is much larger than a usual Great Horned Owl. The majority of her body is a dark grey, though the spines of her wings are closer to black, and the tips of her wings just barely touch white. As an owl, Alexis retains her dark grey-green eyes, and they are just as piercing when she is an owl. As an owl, she is extremely well suited to the air and flying, and will often "go for a flight" to think things over.

In both her owl and human forms, Alexis is a superb physical specimen. She is incredibly strong and can run faster, lift more longer, and generally is stronger than most of her male counterparts. This is due to the amount of time that she is able to spend on martial arts and other forms of physical exertion.

History:
Alexis has spent most of her life alone, and when she wasn't been alone, her companions have usually been abusive. Alexis's parents died shortly after she was born, and it is assumed that at least one of them was a Shifter.

Most of Alexis's childhood (pre-Shifter) was spent moving from abusive home to abusive orphanage. In her childhood, she has beaten, belted, and left on the street to fend for herself. Most of this came from her disdainful attitude for unintelligent humans.

When Alexis was thirteen, she Shifted for the first time. She had been walking through a dark alley when a man came up behind her and told her to give him her money. She didn't have any, so he tried to shoot her. However, in her fear, Alexis shifted.

She didn't realize that she was shifting until she looked down and saw the she had feathers. She then realized that she didn't need her glasses, and tried to brush them off with her hand. When she brought up her hand, she saw that her arm had shrunk, and that her fingers had traveled down her arms and elongated to form wings.

Having shifted, Alexis was immediately struck with a need to hunt. She turned on her attacker and pecked him half to death. He shot her three times, and this resulted in her fear of being shot.

Lying on the ground in a pool of her own blood, Alexis was caught in a half-shifted position for hours. She was lucky when the man who found her happened to be a Shifter himself. Well, temporarily lucky, at least.

After recuperating in the man's apartment, she was told what she was by the man. He explained that she was a Shifter, and that she would now be able to change into her owl form whenever she wanted to. Alexis, in her own words, said that he was crazy. She believed that he was, et quot "Bat-shit insane."

She lost her skepticism when he told her to try it, and she successfully changed into an owl. The man then proceeded to change into an osprey, and suggested that they go flying. Despite her protests that she didn't know how to fly, she was easily able to out-fly the man at everything.

After their first encounter, than man took her under his wing, and helped her find her way to Shifter Academy, where he proceeded to graduate in less than a year. However, when she graduated, she was still too young to teach at the Academy, so she moved over to the island close by to find employment there while she waited.

Alexis Shifts into an owl because owls usually represent wisdom and intelligence, as well as usually representing readers. Also, owls are associated with the Greek goddess Athena, who was the goddess of War and Crafts, and , in essence technology and wisdom. Alexis also used to love nighttime, and could (and can) see unusually well in the dark. This has been contradicted with numerous bad experiences with the night, which have led to her inner conflict, as she hates the night as a human, but is nocturnal as an owl.

Looking from side to side, checking over her shoulder periodically, Alexis was being very cautious. After all, it was her 13th birthday. Not like anyone would celebrate it with her though. Alone, always alone. That was her. Alone. No friends. No family. Taking care of herself in a world that had beaten and abused her.
Taking a left into a dark alley, Alexis was slightly afraid to wander into the shadows. This was, after all a city. Hookers and gang-bangers lurked in the alleys. Swallowing her fears, Alexis walked into the alley.

"You want to give me your money, little Miss Pretty?"
A voice sounded behind her.

" I don't give money to strangers."
She called back.

"It's okay, I have a gun."

Alexis didn't have any money. In fact, Alexis didn't have anything. She didn't even own the clothes on her back.

"I don't even have any money for you."
Maybe that's make him go away.

"That's okay"
His voice has startlingly close now
"You can pay me in other ways."

His hand was touching her in a very inapropriate way.

"I think that i could have some fun with a little girl like you."
He leered into Alexis's ear.

"Get away from me you creep!"
Alexis shouted at him, hitting him in the face with her clutched fist. Te man reeled backwards, clutching his newly bloodied nose.

"But if that won't work."
He cocked his gun.
"This might."
The man fired at Alexis, barely missing her head.

That's when Alexis started noticing that she had feathers.
Then she saw her arms when she reached for her glasses. They were grossly disfigured, with her fingers having migrated down her arm. This can't be happening she thought. Then she noticed that she was shrinking. What's happening to me she thought.

Then she knew

She was turning into an owl.
