CERTAIN AS THE MOON[/font]
We've all heard the legends of vampires and werewolves. We
flocked to the movies every time a new flick came out that exposed
their terror. Every Halloween we saw people dressed up as them. But
we looked at them as only that: legends. Blissfully ignorant to what
was really lurking in the shadows and hiding under our beds. Mocked
what we secretly feared and convinced ourselves "There's no such
thing as monsters." But boy were we wrong.
For as long as anyone can remember in Boston, Massachusetts, there has
been clans of both vampires and werewolves roaming the streets. Most
didn't know of their existence. The only people who saw them either
became them or wouldn't dare tell. If they did, they'd be sent to a
mental institution anyway. Those who knew would much rather spend
their lives hunting down the evil beasts of the night. More than likely,
they'd lost a loved one due to the monsters. These are the people we call
hunters.
Ten years ago the vampires killed the leader of the werewolf pack in
Boston, Massachusetts. With their main enemy down and out, they
attempted to leash hell on the quaint northeastern city. The vampires
did their damage, killing thousands and changing even more in the
span of a week before people caught onto the massacre. You can
imagine what happened after that. A war broke out between species.
Yes, a full-fledged war between the humans and the vampires with the
werewolves of Boston trying to help the humans as much as they could.
The war lasted three years and expanded throughout the United States
and eventually the world. Vampires everywhere wanted to take their
shot for the throne. They just didn't figure that humans actually
weren't the weak prey they'd always assumed they were. By the end of
the war, hundreds of millions of humans and vampires were dead. The
humans had won. Any vampires that were left over decided to hide and
waited to repopulate their species before they made their next move.
The United States became a desolate wasteland. The economy tanked,
businesses ended, people became homeless. The Boston of ten years ago
just isn't the same. The werewolf pack that once existed is no more
than a small group of them that only reside in the Scarlet Manor
because they have nowhere else to go. The vampires that followed
their leader so vehemently now mostly despise him, but their fear of
him keeps them from personally revolting. Plus, he has a plan that he
swears will bring them back to the top of the food chain. Next on their
list of things to do is to finally take down the werewolves once and for
all. If they can do that, the humans would lose a valuable ally. Without
the pack to keep them strong, it's entirely plausible that they'll be
defeated. The werewolves have no hope. Or do they?
Their former leader has returned from the dead, somehow, some way,
and suddenly, their will is stronger. Determined not to let the
vampires win, they plot their own means to bring them down. They've
joined forces with the hunters in hopes of eliminating Boston of their
vampire problem. The civilians? They're more or less clueless and just
trying to live in the closest to a post-apocalyptic world that they'd
ever experienced. In the end, who lives and who dies? Because after all,
death waits for no one.
