Overall:
One of the first things people think of Kaya when they first meet her is quiet. She's never really been a loud person in her life, nor did she ever try to really get attention for herself. She didn't need to, so she usually say back and watched people, trying to analyze them before meeting them. It's a bad habit, and she' knows that, but that's how she dealt with a lot of situations. Kaya has always been wary of people, and what their reaction might be if they knew the truth behind everything. Well, that would be for a normal human. But even with other shifters, she was never sure if she could trust people. There was never any real connection there to begin with, and it was hard to try and bridge a gap she had for so long. She wasn't about to just throw herself out there for everyone, but maybe that's what she had to do. Though with being a teacher now, and being around people that are younger than her, she found a bit more confidence in herself. If you didn't have that, she wouldn't have been a very good teacher now.
Another thing, she's a rather skeptical person. After being around machinery for years, and even majoring in it, she doesn't believe certain things. She's a strong believer on science, and that you have to be able to prove something for it to exist, or had existed in the past. Tall tale stories don't cut it either. Kaya has been raised to believe on strong hard facts usually, and she isn't one to totally think outside the box. Nor has anyone ever tried to open her mind to it either. It's one of those things that never really comes up in conversation.
There is also this caring side to Kaya. Maybe it was how she was raised with her mother, and the warmth she felt from the family around her. She has always tried to help others out, for it was the right thing. "Treat others the way you would want to be treated." Was one of the many quotes she heard growing up. You shouldn't be rude to other people, or hurt them in any way. Things got ruined that way, and Kaya tried to look towards the brighter side sometimes, even if it sometimes didn't seem possible.
Kaya also thinks of herself as intelligent. And not in that bragging way where you try to prove it to half the people around you, to put others down. That was never the case. But, things she was interested in, like math, and different ways of engineering, she picked up on rather quickly. Things she didn't understand completely, kind of came to her rather easily after only doing it a few times. Mind you though, it only applies to certain subjects. That's why there has never been anything to really brag about, because unlike her math, english and writing was never a good subject. So she knew she just had a different working brain than others, and that was totally cool with her.
She's also a rather humble person. As you could probably tell, she wasn't the show-off type of kid, or tried to be the one that was always the best. She took it as it came, and if any type of compliment was thrown her way, a nod and a thanks of gratitude was thrown back. Kaya didn't want to stand out in school like others did. Though sometimes she did, but she didn't want to deal with certain things that sometimes came with popularity. So the small group of friends she did gather, was just enough for her.
Stern and strict would have to be in similar categories. When she teaches, she doesn't want anyone really giving up, and make sure every does try their best at what they are doing. Who wants to just give up like that, or watch their students do that. It makes people question if you really are doing a good job at teaching them the proper things. So if there is a bit of work or a hard test, its just proving that someone cares and wants you to succeed in your future.

Appearance:
Human Appearance
With similarities to both her parents, she took on a rather pale complexion. Though with everything she's done with being outside, doing everything, she was never burnt, but if anything, usually tanned. But, that was really the only time, sinc it happened mostly in the summer. But as she grew up, he hair had slowly started to change color from a light feathery brown, to a dark chocolate brown. It was about mid back length and naturally wavy. She use to never be able to tame it and keep it down and neat, but after years, it turned out to be for the best. Her eyes are also a dark brown to match her hair. People who have seen Kaya with her family, says she resembles her mother quite a bit and she never saw it, but she always knew her mother was beautiful.
For starters, she has no tattoos, since she never really thought of getting one herself. But besides that, she has pierced her own ears quite a bit. On her left ear she has four in total, and on her right ear six. Though she had at one point, thought of piercing her tongue, nose and eyebrow, she never went through with it and for the better since she was now a teacher. As for make-up, she never wore much, cause she never felt the need to be dolled up as someone else. There was already two sides to her, she didn't want a third. So it was always simple. Maybe some eyeliner, but otherwise, it wasn't anything too extravagant.
Height and weight are pretty easy to tell, just from looking at her. She only stands at about 5 feet 6 inches. Kind of shows why she is a smaller bird, but she doesn't mind that. She is a rather healthy weight, which is perfect for a girl like her, and information which really shouldn't be leaked about town.
Animal Appearance
Kaya is a falcon, and a small one at that. Her back changes to a dark grey and black, making the feathers blend in with trees in the height. The feathers are very soft and can easily be pulled out with the right swap, but they way they are made, help them more with the speed falcons can reach while flying as well. Her chest and underside the wings are a tanish color, with dots of black spotted around the front. Her talons are very sharp and can grab anything it wants to catch within them and can hurt anyone who doesn't have protection from them. Her eyes are totally black when she changes as well, seeming to have no warmth. The beak being slightly rounded to be able to dig into any prey that it may catch on a hunt. It's also black in color to match the rest of her head dilled with black feathers.
...history
Parents:
Mother: Marie Lynn Ross-Alexandar - Shifter: Hawk - 59 - Stay at home mom - Growing up, Kaya was close with her mom mostly, because her brothers were always picking on her. Her mother was always a caring person and she learned a lot, like not to judge people, like most people usually do. Her mother taught her all the home stuff like cooking and cleaning, so there was always that little connection between the two.
Father: Liam William Alexandar - Shifter: Cheetah - 62 - Mechanic/Shop owner - Besides spending time with her mom, the other place she practically grew up was with her brothers in her father's shop. They learned all the basics you needed to know. Since her father wasn't keen on hiring random strangers, they basically learned all they needed to know. She wasn't book smart in any of that, but she knew how to fix a lot of things.
Siblings:
Zane Alexandar - Shifter: ? - 25 - Her older brother was the protective of the three children. Since she was the middle child he somehow felt the need to protect her and there younger brother a lot, but that really wasn't a surprise, he was just that kind of person.
Georgie Alexandar - Shifter: ? - 18 - The youngest person in their lovely family. But she always got along with him, helping him out in ways, but she always thought of them as close, though they never share everything, just stuff that needs to be know.
((people can pick one if wanted, kind of left them open if so.))
Childhood
Basically, she had a normal childhood. Though when she was still small, the family stayed together a lot and she didn't have many friends. That was her way though, she was comfortable with her family and how they interacted, though they were shielded, now that Kaya looks back on it now. Their parents knew the possibility of them shifting into an animal, and she saw that they were just trying to protect them in long run. But it wasn't bad. When you're that small you didn't always need friends around.
Kaya basically loved to go around. They lived in a house that was kind of off the beaten path. They were in a forest like area, the houses weren't real close, so everything was kind of private. It was kind of like a perfect setting really for their family. They were outside a lot, in nature, and everything seemed right. There was no rhyme or reason, but being outside, just felt perfect. It did to her, because she didn't mind it that much.
Adolescence
Once she started school, she had a small group of really great friends. Kaya found she had a knack for climbing trees and jumping down from high places. Her friends were always outgoing as well, so they always had fun. Her parents were happy for her, that she could actually find friends that weren't just her brothers. They knew school was a good thing for their whole family. They just knew when that age came around, that there might be some repercussions with what she was. But they weren't there in time yet. Though she remembers when her older brother changed for the first time. It scared her, a lot. Their parents were very protective, and they apparently waiting for this day to come around for him, and it happened. Good thing his birthday wasn't on the weekend and they planned a party accordingly. But she wasn't sure what was going to happen when that time came around for her.
So for her birthday, they did the same thing, and the whole day that she turned twelve, she stayed inside her room, practically waiting for something to happen, and nothing did. All day she practically sat there in her room. When nothing happened, and she was let out, her parents shrugged it off slightly, thinking that maybe nothing would happen. So a year later when her next birthday came around, they were thinking of just throwing a normal party. But the morning of the day she turned thirteen something strange happened that morning, that changed that day. When she changed, she was frantic. And to top it off, she was a bird trapped in a room. Birds shouldn't be trapped anywhere when they are scared, but she was and it was for the better. And after that day, she felt more distant from her friends, like she was keeping this huge secret from them, and she couldn't share it. Because she knew that she might not like the reaction she got back from them, so she pulled away, and soon she really didn't interact with them at all. Then she wasn't soon just happy to be going off to a school where some other people might understand.
Other than that, she basically went through school continuing what she learned at home. Engineering was the life she really knew, so she was happy there. And this was learning everything she didn't know how to do. And all the equations behind it all. Plus, there were so many opportunities that were a head of her with this kind of environment. It was a nice change of pace for Kaya.
To Teaching
When she was at school, she always found teaching a way to relax, plus a nice place to be away from people. After kids found out what she was, she wasn't really welcomed all that much with others. Then, she kind of closed herself off from the normal people. Taking risks wasn't always fun for her, since that one time she had real friends, they turned. She knows what it's like to be hurt by normal people, and she wants to help others when they come here. Since when she was there throughout highschool, it made her happy, and she just wanted to help out others that might be feeling the same thing. Knowing that you aren't so different from other people just makes you feel a little better. Maybe she just didn't want to face people yet, she didn't want to have to deal with with them before she had to.
...connecting human to animal
Kaya turns into a falcon for quiet a few reasons. She always has had sharp eyesight, and has quiet the knack for pinpointing things with some hearing alone. The heighten sense didn't kick in till she was a little older, right before she had first changed. Also her mother could shift as well and was a hawk. They are distantly related, but kept in the bird family. Though she think she was a hawk for the reason that her father could shift as well, into a cheetah. And a falcon is the fastest bird in the world, so she kind of got a combination of the two together. Whether that was coincidence or not, she'll never know, but she always felt the connection with her inner animal.

The day had been anything but pleasant for Alice, and in the back of her mind, she knew it was just going to get worse. Maybe not right away, but probably within the month, hell, probably within the week of just being at that place. Everything going on around her seemed ten times more stressful than anything she could possibly remember. Well, she had now been trapped inside her house a few days and practically all the alcohol had vanished from the entire household. Sure, she had a few, very well hidden bottles around her room, but she had to be careful, it seemed as though they were always watching. Plus the bottles ended the other night, and now she was out. Everything felt wrong this way, since she had become so accustomed to drinking every night, always having something in her system. It seemed as though everything she had done up until then was just catching up to her, and she did not like it one bit.
With everything catching up to her, Alice Taylor Hartt felt as though everything was going down the drain. Being sent to a rehab center was not how she saw herself this year. Clearly she didn’t think it was a problem. Her mind practically ran through all of her friends who could be sent there before her, since she thought they were far worse off. But no, there was no such luck in this world it seemed. Other things going through Alice’s mind was if this place even worked. How many people actually stayed clean after they left rehab centers? Or is it just a waste of money? Either way, she knew she was finding out, that hard way.
This morning, she didn’t do anything but lay on her bed. She was out of the way, and couldn’t cause anyone else trouble that was getting her ready to leave, like they were pushing her out. Plus she wasn’t trying to get out of here sooner, she just wanted to stay home in the first place. “Alice!! You get down here now!” It wasn’t her mother calling her, but one of the twins, her brother Kain. They were the most worried about her ‘problem’ and they were the only reason she was going away. So them yelling at her, wasn’t helping her move any faster. Though they had packed all her stuff getting her ready to leave. It was clear they didn’t trust Alice to pack any of her own things for the fear of what she might have snuck in. Not that she cared if they packed for her or not, the only bad thing about it was she wasn’t able to pick out her own clothes. But who cared? It’s not like she was going to try and impress the doctors or other patients there. So what was the point? Plain clothes were fine for now. On her body she wore dark, slightly torn jeans, a yellow tank top, and green, zip-up hoodie. Nothing extravagant. You only needed those kind for parties.
“Mom says we are leaving now.” Sarah’s voice rang though the room as she walked in. There was no door, no privacy for Alice anymore in her own home. People walked in and out as they liked. Sarah grabbed Alice’s hand and pulled her up and off the bed into a standing position. “Let’s go, time to get driving.” Alice wasn’t sure if she could take both parents and her two younger siblings in a care for just under six hours. Was that even possible? But they were just dropping her off.
Getting into the car, it was quiet, except for the music playing on the radio. It was like everyone was afraid to talk, but soon Sarah spoke up again. “Alice, you know we only want you to get better. Kain and I don’t want you to hurt yourself, that’s all.” Alice rolled her brown eyes and looked out the window. “If that’s all you could have left me at home. I don’t see the need to go to this rehab. I’m fine.” There was anger in her voice, and she was just upset that it was truly happening and it wasn’t a dream. By everything she was praying that it was. Nobody really said a word after that, so Alice put on her headphones and tried to relax and make this car ride go faster than what it was going.
In no time though, they were in Delaware. Maybe it just seemed much shorter, since she fell asleep in the car, for practically the whole journey. She rubbed her eyes a bit as she looked out the window onto the dreary day. See, even the day was sad that they were going to this rehab place, clearly it was a sign. And no one in her family would go for that and laugh it off as a good joke. Crossing her arms, she relaxed more into the seat, but they were soon to be arriving at their destination. This was one of those, it’s for real moments, when you kind of wished they all said. ‘Got you! Now let’s go get dinner and have fun.’ Sadly, that clearly wasn’t the case, nor was it going to be.
Soon they were driving up where they were going to drop her off. “Just so you all know, you don’t need to get out, I can handle things on my own.” It was slightly bitter of her, but she didn’t want to be babied by her parents and siblings. Plus she was already mad at them. Alice expected some sort of response to that, and people objecting, but none came. Was it for the better, probably.
As the car came to a stop, she got a jumbled mix of goodbyes, good lucks, and get better. Then at the end of that, see you soon. Liars. She thought as she got out of the car and made her way around to grab her other bag out of the back. Alice was trying to put the blame on other things, and it was coming out in a bit of anger. After pulling out that bag, she moved away from the car and watched it leave the area. She ran her one hand through her hair long brown hair as she noticed other people here as well.
Walking up to the lady she looked at her. "Hartt. Alice Hartt." That's all that she should have needed, there couldn't have been more than one of her.
