...personality
Likes:
- The cold:
[/li][li]Winter: Best season ever...and then there's the snow! (*tail starts to wag*)
[/li][li]Acting: Kayden's really good at it, and it's practically his life.
[/li][li]Girls: Try as he might, he is a dog. Just kidding, but this guy definitely isn't gay. He tries to flirt, but he's not very good at it.
[/li][li]The smell of pine: This is his favorite smell, it reminds him of his childhood.
[/li][li]Running: Kayden loves exercising, and this is his favorite way to do it.
[/li][li]Pulling pranks: He'll usually only do this in a situation where he's in charge, but he enjoys having a laugh at something he's caused intentionally.
[/li][li]Mushing: When he was growing up, Kayden would do this competitively. He loved his team more than anything.
[/li][li]Rap: Don't judge, it just happens to be his favorite music genre.
[/li][li]The theatre: Again, it's practically his life.
[/li][/ul]
Dislikes:
- Animal cruelty:
[/li][li]Heat: ("I'm...gonna...die!") He's very sensitive to it.
[/li][li]Cats: Woof!
[/li][li]Disloyalty: Nothing makes him angrier.
[/li][li]Ties and collars and such: Anything constricting around his neck, really.
[/li][li]Tempers: ("Don't just snap, okay? If you're going to do that, please do it in private that way you don't embarrass yourself and those around you.")
[/li][li]Bad actors: ("My ears!") Enough said.
[/li][li]Memorizing lines: Worst part of acting, not that it's hard for him to do, though.
[/li][li]Failing: He absolutely hates the feeling of it, the feeling of knowing he screwed up.
[/li][li]The dark: Shhh. Don't tell anyone.
[/li][/ul]
Fears:
- Being alone:
[/li][li]Getting heat stroke: Very very possible for Kayden.
[/li][li]Being hanged: Let's just call it a phobia of his.
[/li][li]Being punished: Being punished means he did something wrong, and Kayden hates that.
[/li][/ul]
Strengths:
- Intelligent
[/li][li]Strong and agile
[/li][li]Loyal
[/li][li]Resilient: Just like a husky, it'll take a lot to put Kayden out of action.
[/li][li]Friendly and good natured: What do you expect from man's best friend?
[/li][/ul]
Weaknesses:
- Has too be told over and over again how to do things:
[/li][li]Trust and gullibility: Kayden isn't the type to judge things too harshly, his trust is as big as the sea, but of course that has its down side: his gullibility. He believes things right away and has a hard time telling if someone's lying.
[/li][li]Curiosity: It didn't just kill the cat.
[/li][/ul]
Overall:
Loyalty
Man's best friend is loyal, and so is Kayden. He would probably do anything for those that he loves, and by anything, I mean anything; he doesn't like disloyalty for this reason. But with his loyalty comes his gullibility and trust. Because he's loyal, he has a hard time thinking that people aren't like that, but he's very gullible, so he'll believe almost anything. Kayden isn't the type to dig deep into situations, and tends to trust everyone.
Contradiction
Yes, Kayden is intelligent, but yes, he needs to be told how to do things over and over again. A contradiction you say? Yes and no. Kayden is much smarter than most of his classmates, and can pick up on things quickly, but repetition is a big part of how he learns. It can get on a lot of people's nerves, but he gets used to it, and so do they, because he's good at taking constructive criticism despite it all, as long as it's not too harsh and he can learn from it of course.
Acting and being friendly
Oh, how Kayden loves to act! It's one of his favorite things to do, it takes up so much of his life. He's good at it, but he doesn't flaunt that. He's not a very cocky person, plus you don't have to worry about him lying/"acting" to you, because lying is disloyalty, which he hates. Kayden is also really good natured, and his friendly personality allows him to make friends with just about anyone. Though he does love to prank people, he won't do so if there are people in a rank, so to speak, above him. Otherwise, he won't chance it, because he's afraid of getting punished.
Curiosity and being alone
Huskies are naturally curious dogs, cats aren't the only ones to suffer from it. Kayden is the same way, and will sometimes get into bad situations because of it. Kayden also has a fear of being alone, so he would use his curiosity to his advantage if he was alone, by inspecting everything that catches his mind to get rid of the feeling of abandonment.
The loves and the hates
Like any person, Kayden has things he likes in dislikes. Having grown up in Alaska, and being a heat sensitive shift, he loves the cold, and loves the snow more than anything. Since he loves that, he hates heat, and not just because he has a fear of getting heat stroke. Kayden also has a fear of being hanged, and hates collars, ties, anything that goes around his neck because of that, that and the constricting feeling he gets.
...appearance

Celebrity Play By: Avan Jogia
Appearance:
If we're going by skin tone alone, Kayden definitely isn't "normal." Whereas most people in the United States are Caucasian, Kayden has the skin that points out his Alaskan origins. It's very tan, tan from spending his time outside, tan from the stage lights, and his dark hair and brown eyes compliment it to a T.
His hair naturally flips out a little at the ends, when it's short, otherwise it's messily wavy, and while it is longer than normal, it is no where close to being the length of a girl's hair. His pretty thick eyebrows match his hair color exactly, and are almost the same shade as his deep black eyelashes. The eyelashes set off his milk chocolate brown eyes quite nicely, and the oval shaped face is complete with straight features (though his nose is kind of big) and minimal acne.
Weighing in at one hundred and sixty five pounds, Kayden maintains a healthy weight to match his height of five feet and eleven inches, almost reaching six foot, but not quite there, much to his dismay. Most of his weight is muscle, though it's not very obvious; but if you looked under his shirt, you'd see that the article of clothing is hiding a set of six packs.
Kayden's wardrobe consists of clothes that, yes, help him blend in, but also make him stand out, for he tends to dress better than the average male his age. Having grown up in Alaska, he doesn't own many t-shirts, and most of his clothes are that suited for the snowy region, such as sweaters, hoodies, jeans, and absolutely no shorts whatsoever other than those he wears for when he runs indoors.
As a husky, Kayden is pretty stereotypical. The stunning blue eyes, no longer brown, the soft fur on his medium sized but large body, all of it combines into one great specimen of this animal. If you saw him with other huskies, though he would be hard to pick out, he would be noticeable because he has no black around his eyes, really, just a little smudge of the color underneath of them. Other than that, most of his body is covered with black fur, with the underside and his face being white. The standard wolf like features, what with the long muzzle and pointed ears, are iconic, but far from rare. Also on his face is a thin black line down the center running down to his nose. His paws are suited to snowy environments, and his thick tail is more like a wolf's than anything else.

*Shifting gene
There wasn't anything special about the relationship between James and Michelle; they fell in love normally, no shotgun wedding, just an average couple with a good marriage. Michelle owned her own local restaurant, and he came from a rich family. They didn't have fights about money, and they loved each other. Michelle was beautiful, the girl all the men in town wanted to marry. James was lucky, for Michelle loved him back. Like every married couple, they wanted a baby, wanted to start a family, and soon they had Kayden.
They lived in Alaska, both of them had their whole lives, their ancestors came from the same region, and it showed from their looks, so they weren't surprised when Kayden was the same. He was their pride and joy, and they focused just on him until he was five, then they had Sydney. They loved their kids more than anything, and you could say that they had average lives. Their parents didn't get divorced, neither one of them died, and they lived in a big house on their own private land. Kayden even had his own sled dog team, and he would race competitively. He was good at it, that and acting, and both the activities took up a lot of his life, and when they knew their kids were situated, they had Mary, adding to their happy little family.
But the Jacksons weren't just what met the eye. There was the fact that they were shifters, at least the parents were. They watched their children carefully as they grew up, watching for certain behaviors, and they watched Kayden especially when he turned thirteen.
He was excited, like any kid would be at becoming a teenager, but not for that reason. No, he got to compete in a major race coming up with his team, and he couldn't wait. Kayden had been training them specifically for that, and he knew he could win. He had loved his dogs more than anything, they were his extended family, all seven of them: Captain, Cookie, Cream, Gem, Ini, Bonnie, and Clyde. On the day of the race, Kayden felt funny, but he didn't let it get to him; he passed it off as butterflies, and his heart was pounding when the race started.
They stayed in the lead for a long time, but then Kayden started feeling pain. He wasn't sure what it was, but he lead his team to an secluded spot in the forest, and by then he was cringing. He unhooked his dogs, and then he shifted. It was like someone had lit him on fire, his body was burning, he was burning. His bones were popping, changing, his hands became paws, and when he tried to scream, it came out as a howl; before he knew it, he was one with his team. He wasn't sure what had happened, but he knew that he was trying to bite his family. They knew it was him though, they were trusting their animal instincts and they quickly put him in his place, and when he shifted back, they kept him warm until his dad found him, once the search had been called off. He didn't win the race, and he hated that, but mostly he wanted answers more than the trophy. He confronted his dad about what had happened, and he knew. James knew that his son was a shifter as well, and he soon sent him off to Shifter Academy.
Kayden didn't want to go, he didn't want to leave the comfort of his snowy homeland for some alien tropical island, and when his dad told him that he would eventually leave for the Academy, he shifted, he didn't know how, and ran into the forest. James had sighed, watching his son run off, and sent his team after them, they knew where he would go. They soon found him, and brought him back, loyal dogs that they were, and Kayden had no choice but to agree to go.
...connecting human to animal
Kayden's black hair translates into the black parts of his fur, and most of his strengths and weaknesses, such as his resilience, loyalty, curiosity, and friendly nature are those that the husky shares as well. And then there's the fact that huskies are very smart dogs, just like Kayden is a very smart human. Huskies were used as sled dogs, and Kayden felt a special connection to his own team as a kid, taking on some of their personality traits, such as the husky, when it's in charge, becoming mischievous (Kayden's love of pranking in a situation where he is the alpha dog, so to speak). And just as Kayden needs to be told how to do things over and over again before it sticks, the Siberian husky requires constant training. His strength and agility are other reasons he shifts into a husky, as well as his sensitivity to heat. As well as all of that, his father was a wolf shift, and his mother was a domestic dog shift, so it makes sense for him to be a Siberian husky, what with their wolf-like looks, but dog personalities, and that he comes from Alaska, as most people know about Balto and such, when the sled dogs had to bring the medicine for the diphtheria outbreak in Nome.
