[Zero Zag]

A pair of laughing children ran past Zero, screaming in delight as they did so. There were so many people here! Zero hadn't realized how popular Amusement Parks were. After all, he'd never been to one before. His father didn't exactly do a lot of fun things with him, let alone his mother.

Zero sat down on a nearby bench, pulling out the Amusement Park's map. What should he do first? He studied the map, uncertain on what he should do. So many choices....

He wanted to go on a ride that was really freaky, one that flipped you upside-down and everything. His friends had gone on a lot of roller coasters during their childhood.

Zero was on a field trip with some of his classmates, but most of them had already scurried off to go on some rides. Most of them had been to Amusement Parks before. Zero folded up his map and stuffed it in his pocket. Straight ahead of him was a huge ferris wheel, turning slowly. It didn't look scary. Still, it looked like fun.

Zero walked over to the ferris wheel, amazed by its gigantic size. He got in line, which was rather long. Zero hated to wait, but he wasn't about to leave. After a few minutes, the line was starting to inch forward.

Zero leaned against the railing and glanced at his watch. Eh, there was still plenty of time before he had to meet the others at the bus.

I wonder if they have any water rides here...

Sure, Zero didn't have a swimming suit with him. But it was a fairly warm day today, so what did it matter? It was just a little water.

"That would be fun," he said aloud. Some people walking by gave him a weird look. What's their problem? thought Zero. It's not like I'm the only person that talks to out loud to myself."

Zero wished one of his friends was here with him. It would be a lot more fun then. At least he could talk to someone when waiting in line. Zero never realized how boring it was to just stand in one place.

Zero was just starting to pull out his map when someone from behind pushed him, hard.

A familiar voice floated through the crowd. Skii pulled on her side pony tail.she turned and saw him standing in a line that led to the ferris wheel. Zero. She flashed back to her being on the beach. Her cheeks flushed with red. Skii was surprised to see him again here mixed with people who couldn't shift.

Skii didn't know if she should go talk to him or if she should be on her way. She let out a breathe and let her feet lead the way. She headed toward him then and just as she was about to reach him some one from behind pushed him. He fell forward and Skii instantly reached out to catch him like instinct. Yet, instead she fell forward with him landing on the ground. She cursed at herself but was glad for the pants she was wearing.

Skii looked around and saw she was fine . She brushed herself off and was slightly embarrassed She chewed on her bottom lip as she looked to see if Zero was alright too.

"I'm sorry I'm a little clumsy."

Skii whispered. to zZero as she looked over to where he fell.

[Zero Zag]

"I'm sorry," came a soft voice. "I'm a little clumsy."

Zero got to his feet quickly, turning to meet Skii face-to-face. "Skii! Uh, don't worry about it. How are you? I haven't seen you since the hurricane." Zero straightened, trying to regain his composure. He was completely caught off guard by Skii's sudden appearance.

She was the last person he expected to meet at an amusement park. But running into Skii here wasn't unwelcome in the least. In fact, Zero was rather glad he finally had a friend with him. Perhaps he could go on some rides with her?

He ran his hand through his hair. It was becoming a habit of his. "I didn't see you on the bus," Zero went on. "To be honest, I'm glad to see a familiar face."

He smiled at her. Sure, Skii and him weren't best friends but they seemed to hit it off right away when they met. Zero hoped that he would connect with Skii again, like they did that one day.

"I've never been to an amusement park before, so this is all new to me. This will be the first time on a Ferris Wheel for me. Guess this will be my chance to figure out if I'm scared of heights or not. You see, I've never been on an airplane before...my family didn't have the money to travel."

Zero suddenly became aware that his clothes were covered in dirt from his fall, and began to dust himself off. He felt more self-aware now that he was around a girl, especially Skii. Why am I acting so insecure? thought Zero, cursing himself. I've never been like this before.

They were almost at the beginning of the line. Any moment now and it would be their turn. "You want to go on the Ferris Wheel with me?" he asked as people began to slowly trickle out of the gates.

" Oh me either. I've never really been to an amusement park. or a ferris wheel. i know I like heights though... I'm a regular tree climber... but I don't know about being that high..."

Skii grabbed her bag and peered up at the top of the ferris wheel. She then looked at the line and saw they were getting close to the front. She was going to step out because she had cut so many people in the first place and she wasn't sure if she wanted to go up in the ferris wheel.

"You want to go on the Ferris Wheel with me?"

Skii turned back to Zero. She let her bag bag fall back to her side. A sigh escaped her as she chewed on her bottom lip. Ski took one last glance at the ferris wheel then locked eyes with Zero. his seemed to sparkle and she couldn't seem to look away....

"Well, okay." Skii scooted in closer to zero. "As long as you keep me warm."

Zero laughed and put his arm around Skii. "That I can do." At that moment, the line began to move forward again. Finally, it was their turn. Zero entered the car and sat down, his arm still around Skii. The car gave a jerk as it began to rise into the air. Zero looked out at the Amusement Park. "The view is amazing. Just imagine what it must look like at night."

Zero smiled at Skii. He had to admit, she looked really pretty today. Zero felt a little flustered around her, which was new. He was embarassed that he fell right in front of her. He was rarely flustered.

"I...uh.... Zero struggled to find his words. "Um, I'm just really glad you're here with me. I would've been really lonely otherwise."

Wow, that must have sounded really lame. Good going Zero.

Zero wondered if Skii liked him. Could she? She did accept his offer to go on the Ferris Wheel with him, but maybe she was just being polite.

They continued to rise as more people filled the cars below. Soon they were at the top of the Ferris Wheel. The ground seemed so far away from there, the people just like small ants below. And he and Skii, they were alone. On top of the world.

"Everyone looks so small down there." He turned his attention back to Skii. He felt like he should say something to her. Compliment her perhaps.

"You look great, by the way." Zero said quickly. He cleared his throat and looked away, feeling a little awkward.

Come on, Zero. Pull it together man. He was so close to her, his arm was around her. He liked her. She must like him, right? They only met once before, but here they were.

I probably look like a fool to her. How could she possibly like me? No, I won't think that way. I won't give in.

Zero moved a little closer to Skii. She really was brilliant. He wanted to tell her that, but he was afraid it would sound cheesy or something. Girls liked to hear that kind of stuff though. Okay, I'll just say it.

"Skii, you really are amazing. I hope you know that."

zero snaked his arm around Skii and her cheeks grew red hot. The line began to move forward and the two of them made their way onto the Ferris wheel. the contraption jerked and they made their way into the sky.

"I...uh.... Um, I'm just really glad you're here with me. I would've been really lonely otherwise."

Skii looked at Zero as he stumbled over his words. She found him slightly funny. she wondered why he was so tongue tied. the ferris wheel was at the top when Skii peered over the side. She was so high. It made her feel so confident. the wind pulled at her hair and cut through her shirt. She shivered.

She felt the need to pull out her notebook write down what was happening. How she was feeling. She went to unclasp her bag when Zero spoke up reminding her he was there.

""Everyone looks so small down there."
Skii locked eyes with Zero. A small smile parted her lips and she let it stay there.


"Ya. Ya they do..." Skii let the wind take away her voice. She saw Zero wanted to say more so she waited not knowing what to say herself.

"You look great, by the way." Zero was now sitting so close. And Skii could feel him. It was so weird and she didn't know how to react. She could feel her cheeks flushing once again. She wanted to laugh because she knew she didn't look that good. Her hair was wind blown and her clothes were merely for warmth.

Zero moved even closer his arm was still around her. She could feel his body heat warming her. this was so weird. It was so romantic. the only thing Skii could think of doing was laughing. She didn't want to hurt his feelings. She chewed on her cheek wondering what to do... Because she really did like this guy. And now she believed he liked her too.

"Skii, you really are amazing. I hope you know that."

Now Skii's cheeks had to be bright red. They were no longer on top of the ferris wheel but moving in circles. she didn't know if she could.... like him. But she knew she did. She hated this feeling of not knowing what to do.

"I'm not amazing.... I'm...."

Skii pressed her body closer to zero's and let her head rest on his shoulder. She found this so comfortable it was odd. Maybe.... this would work.

"I'm... You're... Zero, you're pretty amazing too."

Skii bit her lip and sighed. The ferris wheel moved in circles and she didn't know if she wanted this ride to stop.
