Major Explanation: Kodee's whole life she has wanted to get away from her home. [By doing aviation, it gives her a sense of freedom from her caged life. Being a flying squirrel, Kodee is able to fly, even if it is for a sort period of time.] She chose that major because she wants to to fly farther away then her abilities can let her.

Overall:

Kodee is an optimist, and is always looking on the bright side of life at least most of the time. However, she can be pessimistic sometimes when something happens that annoys her or makes her temper flare, such as when people act too happy for her liking or when someone makes fun of her or her friends. In her spare time at home she enjoys going into the mountains alone to rock climb and just think. She enjoys track and has been doing it since she was young. Her therapist told her that she needed to join some sport to burn off her excessive amount of energy. Kodee has never done well in school because no book interests her and she can never sit still. Her family, wanting her out of the house as much as possible, tried as many schools in the state that they could, but finally gave up on her. They never really cared about her education. She is not a social person, so no one has really been there to comfort her when she really needed it. The only comforts that she has are the wind and flying. She feels alone, yet likes the feeling. Even though she does not like people, she hates seeing them in pain because it reminds her of her harsh past. She feels a need to protect the people who are in pain. She gets annoyed at peoples reaction to her shift, because they immediately assume that she is a crazy obsessed nut lover. She does love nuts but she feels the reactions give off the wrong impression and when people assume things about her she gets REALLY angry. She is known for her fights and bruises that she leaves on people. Her whole life her parents have never cared about her. She always has needed love and care from somebody, but nobody was ever there to be there for her. She tried to impress her parents by building things for them like little houses of trinkets. He parents would only laugh at her. Because of their mocking, she would destroy all of her creations. She has never been social because of rejection. She thinks that when she makes a new friendship they will leave her. She has never really felt wanted, so she is lonely. She likes being alone though, it gives her more time with the wind and stars.

Kodee has sky blue eyes that have always been her favorite thing about herself. Her curly white blond hair reaches her shoulders and never goes past there. She is a very skinny girl and does not eat much. She is a tall girl for her age. Something that she does not like about herself is her nose, she thinks it is the wrong size. Her ears are pierced, but you can never see the earrings because her hair always covers them. She always wears shorts or pants, she will never be caught alive in a skirt or dress. Her shirt is always simple and never showy. She will never wear anything frilly and always wears tennis shoes. When she is a flying squirrel, she is brown with a fluffy white spot on her stomach. There is something different about her when she is a flying squirrel, she can glide, or fly, longer then the other flying squirrels because she had larger "wings" then them. This is because of her height when she is not a flying squirrel. She has a birthmark on her right arm in the shape of a star. She always looks at it and thinks that it means there are great things planned for her. When she is a flying squirrel, the birthmark is on her right "wing". Although she can not look at the mark when she is gliding, she loves the sense of strength it gives her. On her left ear there is a scar from when one of her brothers stuck a fishing hook through it. On her left ankle there is a brand mark that says FHR, Flying Horse Ranch, from when her brother "accidentally" branded her instead of the horse or cow. She has numerous scars all over her body, but most are unnoticeable. Those two are easily noticed. She has many scrapes and bruises, and there is usually a new one every day from all of her fights and clumsiness. No one tends to notice after a while. When she shifts into a flying squirrel, all of her scrapes, bruises, and scars disappear. She likes this aspect of her shifting, because she feels like a new person with no mistakes. When she flies as a flying squirrel, she whistles, so her mouth is always in a slight o shape even when she is in her human form. She has a higher pitched voice in her human and squirrel form. Kodee loves crazy socks that usually don't match her simple style of clothing. Neon colors are her favorite colors for socks. [/size]

Kodee was born into a family of all boys. Her parents saw that she was a girl, and were filled with anger. They had wanted another boy, girls were no use. So they named her Kodee, the name that they were going to name the boy that they wished to have had. They named her middle name Connor, just to make her feel even worse. Throughout her life, Kodee was treated like less then her brothers. She was basically the scum of her family and had to teach herself at a young age, while her brothers went to fancy schools for privileged children. Kodee spent most of her time trying to impress her parents, but her parents would only say, "Shut up, we did not want you so act like you are not here." Kodee would wreck everything that her parents made fun of her for.

When Kodee was about twelve years old, she shifted into a flying squirrel. All she can remember from that experience was the pain from her shift and the pain from what her parents said. The shift hurt her so bad that she was sore for a few days. When her first shift occurred her parents became even more disappointed in her. She shifted into a flying squirrel, and they thought that that was a stupid little animal that had no use in their lives as much as Kodee did. That day started out as a beautiful day for Kodee, she thought that her parents might finally accept her as one of their own, but they only brought her down.The day ended with tears for Kodee, and she hardly ever cries. The tears rolled down her face just as hard and plentiful as the rain was falling outside.

Her whole family are shifters. Her father shifts into a lion, mother into a hippo (which Kodee spends hours laughing over) Jacob- tiger, Adam- falcon, Curtis- vulture, Dameon- butterfly (another one that Kodee laughs about) and Cooper- Panda. Zakarias has not yet shifted. Her parents found out about this school, but did not want to send their precious boys to Shifter Academy. They had no problems sending Kodee away. Kodee felt like she only got the short end of things. She was used to it, though. She just hoped that this school would be a good change for once.

Kodee in her early teenage years she was left alone, her parents did not even give her a bed, yet alone a space in the house. Kodee slept under the stars at night and cooked for herself with anything that she could find in the wild. When she was about 13, she was getting fed up with her parents, and she ran away. The whole running away lasted one year, and when she came back, all that her parents said was "Oh, your back. We were hoping that you left forever." This hurt Kodee, but she was used to the sting of their condescending remarks. She knew that she needed a change.

Kodee is quiet and unsocialized. The flying squirrel is a quiet animal, but can be fierce if it need too, just like Kodee.They are both unwanted at times, and feel alone alot. They both want to set free and be themselves. Kodee has a dangerous personality, always looking for danger. The flying squirrel has a way to protect itself from danger, flying away. Kodee and the flying squirrel know when to fly away and when to stay in or out of the danger.

The stars shone brightly over Kodee's head and the wind blew through her hair. Outside as usual, she thought. She loved the outdoors. She was always with her two best friends, the stars and the wind. She sat down in the tall grass and listened to the wind whisper secrets in her ear. She loved having someone to talk to, even if it was not a real person. She paused and smelled, "Fried chicken." she sighed, she could not even remember the last time that she had fried chicken, or even meat for that matter. "They are having fried chicken tonight Wind and Stars, but we have something better!" She rushed over into the woods. She walked around for a little bit and then found the hollow tree in which she stored her nuts. She grabbed a few acorns, and then a tin of peanuts. She rushed back to her camping spot with her loot. Kodee sat down and set down the nuts. "Last time Mother and Father were away, I broke into the house and stole a can of peanuts! My favorite!" She broke into the can and ate like she had never eaten before.

All that could be heard for the next minutes were the crickets and the crunch of the nuts. Kodee finally swallowed her mouthful, and whispered to the wind, "Only three more weeks! Only three till I am rid of this place!" She stood up and did a little jig that she made up on the spot. "I can not wait to be gone from here! Do you think that they will have fried chicken there?" As if hearing an answer she replied, "Yeah, I do too. These peanuts are good, but all that I have eaten are these peanuts and nuts of every kind, I get really sick of them after a while, don't you?" She sat back down and smiled, she would be rid of this place soon, and she would have good food! Life would be so much better then it was now. She continued to smile, but then a thought occurred to her. "I almost forgot Wind, a new school means," she gulped, "socialization." She closed her eyes. "I hate socialization! I can't even say hello to anyone, thanks to my mother and father."

She kept her eyes closed. "Wind and Star, what am I going to do? Its not like I hate people, I just can't talk to them." She opened her eyes and stared at her two friends. The upcoming school year would be hard for her. First off she had not been to school since she was seven. She had taught herself from old books she had found in her house for the past eight years, now someone would be teaching her! Second, she hated socialization. She could not talk to anyone while looking them in the eye or she was just silent around them. New experiences were definitely not Kodee's forte. She opened her eyes. Looking up at the stars, she felt a sense of hope for the future year. She made up her mind then and there. "You know what wind and stars? I have decided that this year will be a good year, no matter what happens." She closed her eyes again. I hope that I made the right decision She thought as she slowly fell asleep in the grass. The wind and stars whispered goodnight to their friend and silently fell asleep beside her. No matter what the wind will keep blowing and the stars will keep shining.

Here's the thing, I don't really think that a flying squirrel is the animal for Kodee. There are a lot of things that are contradictory in this application and there's also a lot of issues that don't need to exist, you know?

First, her personality is kind of all over. You say that she's loyal to her friends and then that the wind and flying are her only friends and then that she likes to be around people who are in pain just so that she can comfort them. Then your explanation for her wanting to be around them is because of her harsh past, which is just an overglorification of a way for her to illicit pity because you say it more than once in the rest of the application. I'm not really sure how to explain it, but her history isn't very believable. You've played her parents off as being cruel, sexist people who hate their child because of her gender and, although that could happen in extraordinary circumstances, you only go halfway through with it. There are no neighbors or anything to witness the terrible treatment of the child and it's just generally not believeable so it makes me, as a reader, not really care what happens to her, if that makes sense?

Second, although flying squirrels can be fierce when they need to be, their gut reaction is to GLIDE away. Because they're small and often preyed upon. Flying squirrels in captivity live more than twice as long, on average, because there aren't predators. So, saying that Kodee gets into fights a lot doesn't make sense. You also never really explain why she gets into fights. You just kind of put it in there so as to give her a justification of having bruises and scratches on her body.

Third, you were pretty vague about her weight and height, which usually need to be specific that way we can get a rough picture of what she might look like.

Fourth, you say alone/lonely A LOT. Your statements are contradictory though. You say that she's lonely but she likes it, which doesn't really make sense. You'd rather say that she likes be alone.

Fifth, she doesn't really seem like she has a lot of depth. I mean, she has her interests and her strong family background, but what does she /do/, you know? I mean, you mention once that she does track but you don't expand on it and you don't mention it anywhere else and because she dislikes school so much, that basically gives her nothing to do. What does she like?

Sixth, I'm not really sure how she's going to fit in. If she were completely belligerent, always looking for a fight, it might be plausible! But she's anti-social and stays away from people and looks up at the stars, not really a character meant for role playing, which is pretty much based on the interaction and growth of characters. And if you have one opposed to change AND who avoids all human contact, how will you role play it out?
