Annette moved thoughtlessly threw the myriad of books her mind not on reading but just now being alone in a quiet dark corner. Since coming here she had pretty much spent all of her days alone, talking once or twice to some one then they would leave and leave her alone once more. With a deep contemplative sigh she found a small nook its leather seat seeming unkempt but welcoming for her as she sat down slowly.
A single book lay next to her as if some one had started it but then discarded it with out a though to placing it back in the shelf it had come from. She picked it up and opened it turning each page gently as she tried to read what was on it , her mind wandering back to her loneliness no matter how hard she tried to stop her self from sinking into that pit she seemed to just slip further.
puling up her legs she tried to hid the sad sigh she gave once more as she rested her head on her knees . Why had she come , because her mother made her , why was she friendless , she didn't know , she had tried even sitting in the canteen at one point but that only brought her to talk to a boy who promptly walked away from her before the conversation had even started.
She ran her finger over the cover of the book and wondered should she put it back, her blue eyes looked up at the shelves all around her they were like a book cocoon , the words contained inside were her comfort but today they didn't , today she was just too sad for that to happen.
She could feel the pull of the tears in her eyes as she fought not to shed them, not there not now she was stronger than that and she knew it. She could not let this one hic up get to her , but how could she not so many let downs in her life so many non friends , how could she just forget that she was alone.
She picked up the book again and opened its cover, there inside she saw pictures and she flicked to another page there she saw the pyramids, then the Sphinx's. She loved Egypt and hoped one day she could go there and walk in the hot sand that Pharaohs did all those centuries ago.

SOMETHINGSI'LLNEVERKNOW------------------------------------------MIDNIGHTANNETTEPARKER--------------------- Oh, come on, where is it? Midnight thought as she searched the shelves. It has to be here somewhere! The sophomore looked through every title she could find about Egypt, the pyramids, the Sphinx. Nothing. Well, maybe someone checked it out, she thought, dismayed. She let out a long sigh. "I guess today's just not my day," she mumbled to herself, running a hand through her medium-length orange hair. She ambled along the shelves, searching, hoping, praying, but not finding.
She looked about her. This was but one floor of the library, and it was hugely immense. Midnight looked at the shelves and felt like a midget at 5'7" compared to the them. They must be ten feet tall, she reflected. There were tables scattered with chairs for sitting and studying. Midnight came upon a section of what looked like squat leather easy chairs. They appeared to be for leisurely readers who weren't in the library to study or research. In one of those chairs, she found a girl about her age, perhaps a little older. She had deep golden hair, blue eyes, pale, creamy skin, and a figure that, although she couldn't be sure, looked like it was tall. Midnight noticed that she held the exact book she was looking for. Bingo. She took a closer look at the girl. She seemed sad, lonely. Her face was downcast, her eyes seeming to cry when no tears actually escaped them. Yes, something was upsetting this poor girl.I'd leave her alone, but she has the one book I really want to read. Midnight let out a small huff, straightened up, and walked over to her. "Um, excuse me," she said in a calm, gentle voice, "I couldn't help but notice the book that you're reading. It happens to be the same book that I'm looking for, so if you don't mind when you're done, may I read it?" What a dork, she thought, You sounded like an idiot! Midnight tried to keep a straight face while all of this was going through her head. It wasn't overly difficult for her. She'd done numerous times before. She looked back at the girl, waiting for a response. I wonder what's bothering her. Maybe she's new and a little shy. Midnight let her thoughts drift back to when she had first come to Shifter Academy. She had just turned thirteen at the time, and she was terrified. No one really talked to her, and no one talked to her now. That is, unless she was working with them in class on an assignment. Maybe, she decided, just maybe, I could be friends with her.--------------------- ANDIHADTOLETTHEMGO ---------------------

Annette was lost in her own thoughts as she turned another page in the book but then aimlessly closed it her mind on whether she should stay or look for another place to live as she felt the academy was not working as with her family moving on leaving her behind she didn’t want o go back home. She aimlessly flicked threw the pages as she looked at images of pharos and stone guardians, one looking like a large cat and that captured her attention. So much so she jumped slightly when she heard a very feminine sound of a voice, looking up she saw a red haired girl looking down at her from the one entrance to the seat nook.
“Ow, sorry it was just laid on the seat , I though nobody wanted it “ she said as she closed it and lifted it from where it lay to offer it to her, she didn’t know why but her hand shook some what she could feel the scars on her back stretching slightly as she held it up her hand. Taking back her now empty hand, she pulled her legs up to her chest as she sat with her hair covering her eyes. She could not help but give a deep sigh as she now looked at the floor in front of her, her eyes once more glazing over with a distant look.
The more she though about it, the more she pulled towards leaving, not just the library, but the school. She had no reason to stay, no friends , the girls in her dorm room shouted at her when she tried to play her guitar saying it was not music and she had found no music room where she could play her piano. She turned to the girl wondering why she had not left yet.
“Is there something else you need help with?” she asked her voice not threatening but more soft and sad at the same time , she didn’t want her to go but to stay and talk that’s all she ever wanted just some conversation and some one who could keep it going longer than two sentences with her before leaving her on her own again. She’d had her fill of people doing that to her , she’d had enough of it at home with her brothers and her step father ignoring her.

SOMETHINGSI'LLNEVERKNOW------------------------------------------MIDNIGHTANNETTEPARKER--------------------- Midnight was pulled from her thoughts by the girl's voice."Ow, sorry it was just laid on the seat, I thought nobody wanted it." She lifted the book to Midnight, and she took it. "Thanks." She asked if she could help Midnight with anything else. "Not really." She looked at her. "Are you new here? I don't think I've seen you around here." Midnight took the seat opposite her, setting the book on its arm. "I'm Midnight, by the way," she said, offering her a handshake. Midnight offered the girl a genuine smile. She leaned back in the chair, keeping her elbows on the arms of the chair and folding her hands and resting them on her stomach. I wonder what her story is. She took a closer look at her face. This girl not only had golden hair and blue eyes, but also flawless, thin eyebrows and red lips. She was quite beautiful. How could she seem so lonely? A gorgeous girl like her should have tons of friends. It didn't make sense to Midnight. In her fanciful world, the pretty girls always had many friends, many of whom were male. This really piqued her curiosity. "So, where do you come from?" Oh, that didn't sound quite right. I just made her sound like an alien, Midnight thought, frustration beginning to sprout like a seed inside her. She listened intently to anything the girl had to say. She had noticed that she was quiet and probably shy. Figures, delicate features, mousy girl. Midnight reflected upon her own appearance, which was fairly delicate itself. If she was honest with herself, she'd admit that the harshest feature she had was her jaw line, which really wasn't harsh, just prominent. She was thin as well, and quiet, not necessarily shy, just quiet. Midnight began to see more similarities between them as she considered the two of them. As she looked at the girl's face, she noticed a cat-like quality to it. Must be a feline shift. Midnight decided to ask her. "So, what's your shift?" As Midnight thought about it more, it began to make more sense that this girl would be a feline shift, what with reading a book about ancient Egypt. Inadvertently, a smirk ran over Midnight's face as she thought, Oh yes, I've got you all figured out. I certainly have, no pun intended, 'read you like a book.' --------------------- ANDIHADTOLETTHEMGO ---------------------
