You sing a bad song just to turn it around
She felt like drowning.
Penelope's pale eyes were closed, they hurt from crying. She wasn't so upset that Leo had broken up with her. Sure, everybody felt bad breaking up was hard to do. But it was why. It was for Tony. Why out of everybody was it for Tony? She would have been fine if it was for like a teacher or somebody prettier or somebody that was a tall blonde girl with boobs and hips like she didn't have.
Her face was wet, but it wasn't from the water. She felt sick, her eyes opened red and eyelashes clung with each other as she lie in her bed feeling empty. The thing was she loved Tony. She'd loved him ever since she had seen him and it was stupid for her to. He liked guys, he liked girls but not nearly as much, she knew that. Though she could always hope that maybe he might like her like she liked him.
She'd been stupid to think that anything could come from it. She almost didn't look like Penelope. Not because she was in her seal form, in fact she was quite human at the moment but she was a mass of female horomones that were frustrated and angry.
Out of everybody that Tony could have liked back it had to have been Leolyn. Why him? Why not him. He was beautiful. She totally understood she had gone out with him because of his sheer physical beauty and found that he could be quite a charming person. She had thought that maybe they could make soemthing special.
God, she belonged on Oprah on that special about men with men and the women that get caught in the mix. She wasn't looking well, no make-up was on her she didn't have on one of her cute dresses either. Opting for a big t shirt and a pair of pajama pants.
Her hair wasn't brushed, she hadn't moved for at least a day and hunger welled in her stomach. She didn't want to move. She had always laughed before at girls who broke down when soemthing bad happened. She was stronger than that.
She was much stronger than that. Why was she so upset? The young woman closed her eyes again. Her roomie had asked her what was wrong but she kept quiet. Curled up in her blankets with her red eyes and wet face.
Some of her friends came over but she drove them all away with silent stares and a roll. After an hour or so of her rolling around and ignoring them they left and she was left to wallow in self pity and sadness. Her phone rang a few times and she had texts but she didn't care.
The little social butterfly wasn't very social at the moment. Was unlovable? She'd gone throughout high school without anybody looking at her, she went to events with Tony because they had been friends. Just friends, she thoguht bitterly to herself. Was she ugly?
She didn't think that she was ugly. Maybe it was her freckles, she reached up with her slender fingers and felt along her face. Maybe it was her skin color --she wasn't dark enough to be a black girl but wasn't light enough to be a white girl either.
Maybe it was her hair. Usually, it was very soft and straightened but she hadn't bothered with it leaving it in a mass of unruly curls that would tumble along her being as she moved in her bed. Was she just something that was not desirable? She tried her best to be a girl that boys would want.
She was smart, she was funny, she had a nice smile, and she didn't want for much aside from attention. Was she too needy? was she too dumb? Maybe she wasn't as witty or charming as she thought that she was. She wanted to throw up, pulling her blanket up to her cheek she lie there quietly and sniffed.
Her eyes closed again, she wanted to sleep. She wanted to sleep and not wake up. Because when she dreamed things were like they were before. She was happy in her sleep. The little seal girl curled up into a tighter ball as she mumbled something to herself and wrapped herself up in her arms. She didn't have big boobs or a ba donk a donk butt. Was that why no one had been attracted to her? In truth, Leolyn had been the first boy to ask her out. The senior girl mumbled quietly as she smacked her forehead with her palm. "Stop it," she felt sick. She heard the hurricane outside and didn't care.
Maybe it would burst in and take her away.
