Ethan groaned when he woke up, looking at the clock on his dresser, but when he was up, he was up. His ADHD automatically kicked in, and he knew that he couldn't stay in bed, no matter how much he wanted to. Getting up, he ran his fingers through his hair, and his icy blue eyes looked out the window, finally getting used to the light. His eyes widened as he saw the beach's waves; they looked absolutely perfect. The surfer inside of him was dying to ride them, and he couldn't fight the urge.
With more energy than before, Ethan stood out of bed, and went to his dresser, grabbing the first shirt and pair of swim trunks he saw. He was almost twitching with excitement, pulling on the clothes, and with a second glance, grabbing the surfing/tide/gadget watch that his dad had bought him. Ethan wasn't completely sure how to work it, and he didn't know if it was even waterproof, but he put it on anyway. His surf board, the one that he'd used for years, was in its normal spot in the corner, and when he grabbed it, he saw that it was a little dusty. How could it be dusty? That wasn't normal, not for Ethan. He frowned when he realized it was probably because he hadn't gone surfing in a while, and the thought made him sad. Ethan wasn't the type to be sad, usually, so the feeling shocked him, but he pushed it aside as his feet, now wearing flip-flops, took him to the door.
The day finally felt...right to Ethan. His surf board in tow, he hoped it would be a good day. He wasn't exactly sure, but if he got to surf, that was a plus, at least. His long legs were eager, and before he knew it, he was at the beach.
Taking a deep inhale, Ethan was comforted by the smell of the beach, and the waves crashing on the shore were a symphony to his ears. Kicking off his shoes, sand between his toes, he knew that he was home. The ocean was his home, it was amazing, and the feeling it gave him! It was like nothing would ever hurt him, like nothing would ever try to hurt him. Stepping into the water, Ethan prepared himself for the perfect wave. He got on the board, paddling out farther into the water, and then he saw it.
It was huge, and terrifying, the sheer might of the wave sent a chill down his back. Perfect. That was the one word that came to mind. It was the only word to describe such a wave, and Ethan almost crowed in delight. He waited, and waited, and then he stood up on his board, and the water took him.
He knew that it had been too long, way too long, since he'd last been surfing, but that didn't matter anymore. His feet belonged on the surf board, and the board belonged on the wave. The spay soaked his blonde hair, and he felt his eyes change to a blazing blue, bluer than they'd been in a long time. But the wave was ending, that much was obvious, and he knew that it was too good to be true. He left the wave expertly, and then went back to shore, board in tow, waiting for another. He checked his wrist, and saw that the gadget was waterproof after all. With a slight smile, he turned his attention back to the water, and waited yet again. [/blockquote] Tag: Aoi. Summer was slowly starting to slow down, which meant only one thing, school was coming and fast. He was looking forward too it, at least it would give him something to do for a little while, he was also looking for a job so that would also give him time to do more things and get money. Currently he was in a bad situation, money wise, with his home life and mental state. It all wasn’t good right now, nothing seemed to be going right for him or his little brother. All wasn’t right in his world so he thought it would be smart to take the time to try and figure things out. What was he going to do when school was over? Would he bring his brother? Thinking about this stuff took a mental toll on him. He was already working on eating, so he wouldn’t be so sick anymore. He didn’t even realize it but he had walked himself all the way to the beach.
Aoi looked around, his amber golden eyes taking in the sights of the wet sand because of the constant rain that seemed to have relaxed for a few days, the storm was slowly going away, so that meant he could soon shift and maybe come back to go fishing? That would be nice, he could bring Choi with him since they both enjoyed the taste of fish and all. He smiled to himself and took his flip flops off and dug his feet into the sand, it felt really nice to be honest, but so cold. He shivered a good bit and chewed on the inside of his lip, he couldn’t stay out here for very long since he was in shorts and it was pretty cold outside, even for him. Plus, Aoi didn’t like the cold very much, he was more of a warm day person then anything.
Humming softly, the boy walked through the sand and picked up anything that seemed to catch his eye, sea shells, sea glass. His well being was far beyond his concern at his point, truly he didn’t care if he was going to be hit by lighting right now, he was more so worried about Choi then anyone in this world. His baby brother who was having a hard time coping with the fact that their parents didn’t want them anymore. That was all he was worried about and he didn’t even notice that walking was starting to get a little painful on his feet, that was until he fell over because he couldn’t fell them anymore. His body began to shiver like crazy, being anorexic means you don’t have very much body fat, so it was easier to get hot and cold. He huffed softly and tried to wiggle his toes but he couldn’t feel them. Alright, let’s panic.

Waiting was such a bore to Ethan. What with his ADHD and usually impatient personality, he had a hard time focusing on which wave looked perfect. He'd already missed his chance on a few, his attention being elsewhere whenever they came. He was determined not to miss another, but his eyes were flitting to places other than the ocean in front of him. They looked down at the sand, at his watch, his surf board, and even at the sun, as often as everyone was told that you shouldn't do that, and then he looked down the beach, seeing nothing but sand, nothing but sand and...
A person?
He hadn't realized that he wasn't alone on the beach. His attention had been on everything but what was down the beach it seemed, which was odd, considering that he usually noticed everything at least once. Putting his surf board in the sand, he walked closer to the other person, then ran when he saw they were face first in the sand. The water from his clothes and hair darkened the sand, and he set his stride to a specific rhythm with the waves. He reached them quickly, and tried to remain calm as he accessed the situation. Person face down in the sand, that definitely wasn't good. He dropped down to his knees, getting a better view of the situation than six feet and two inches up in the air. He tried to access with the eye of a third person, but his intelligence was kicking in, and he immediately saw that the person was skinny, but he wasn't sure exactly what that meant, for he was trying not to make too many assumptions, though he wondered if they were anorexic or something. He just wasn't sure though, he didn't know much about those types of disorders, most of his medical knowledge dealt with teeth, especially considering he was a dental major. He saw that he was wearing makeup, but shrugged it off, he wouldn't judge, besides, that wasn't exactly the most important thing at the moment.
“Are you OK?” he asked, but realized that was stupid. Of course the person wouldn't be OK, they were face first in the sand! He readjusted the his thoughts and phrasing, and added, “What's wrong?” He wasn't sure what to do, but he was glad he had a strong shift as he pulled him up to at least a sitting position, leaning his back up against one of the bigger rocks on the beach. Soon, Aoi felt the warmth return back to his legs and he gave a small grunt. He felt someone beside him, also the feeling of being watched since he felt eye’s just burn into his back. He grunted softly and slowly rolled over to his back and stared at the wet male looking down at him like he was some rare mermaid that had just swam up to shore. He fluttered his amber gold eyes open better and got a good look at the wet male, well he was cute. Not his type, but still rather cute. Wait, okay so he was asking questions right? Groaning softly Aoi could but barely manage a nod and he slowly sat up. “I’m fine, sorry my legs just gave out on me.” It didn’t take long before he realized his back was too a large wet rock, Aoi gave a loud cat like hiss at that and looked at it oddly before realizing it was okay and leaned back against it.
“Sorry, to bother you, I should go.” He said and then smiled as a way of giving him a silent thank you for at least seeing he was okay. He began to stand, but even though his legs were feeling better they didn’t support him very well. Damn it, he was too skinny. He needed to bulk up a little bit and at least be a bit healthier then he was right now, falling over because it was too cold and what not. Slowly Aoi lowered himself to the ground and gave the boy a look, a small smile played his lips. “Well, don’t think I’m going anywhere right now.” He ran his fingers through his hair and thought for a moment, crap what could he do? His legs didn’t seem to want to listen and he very well couldn’t stay here.
Time to panic, again. Aoi grunted and forced himself from the sand, his legs gave a twitch but he pushed passed it, he had to get back to the school. Maybe he could shift? That seemed like the best idea, but he wasn’t too sure, as a tiger he would be nice and warm and ready to walk back to the dorm with grace. As a human, not so much it seemed. So here was his problem, to shift or not to shift? That was indeed the question.

“I’m fine, sorry my legs just gave out on me,” the male said, and Ethan fought the urge to laugh out loud. He was fine after his legs gave out? Yeah, that made total sense to Ethan. His thoughts were incredibly sarcastic, and if he had been the type to snort, he probably would have, but he just scoffed internally. Better to keep his thoughts to himself in this situation, it wasn't exactly lying, and he had no idea what this guy's shift was, so Ethan decided, for once in his life, to be safe rather than sorry. A chuckle almost escaped Ethan's lips, though, as the guy gave a rather cat like hiss, and Ethan actually found it hilarious; of course, it wasn't a funny situation, but it was just so cat like, and the shark in him scoffed at the sound.
“Sorry, to bother you, I should go,” he spoke again, with a smile this time – as thanks? – and tried to stand up, only to fail. A small frown graced Ethan's lips, changing his normally blank, or at least indifferent facial expression, but before he could say anything, he was cut off with, “Well, don’t think I’m going anywhere right now,” relieving him a little, knowing that the male wasn't going to go off and do anything stupid, at least, but he was surprised at the feeling. He wasn't normally protective, if this feeling could be counted as protective, only to his friends, and considering that he didn't have a girlfriend and he wasn't close to his family anymore, so it was staggering, knowing that he was concerned for the well being of someone besides himself.
This guy didn't stay sitting for long, but by Ethan's judgment, he looked...in pain? He wasn't sure, but the male kept on walking, and as Ethan was about to turn his attention back to the waves, the semi-protective feeling extinguished, waiting for the perfect wave to come along, but he stopped himself. He wasn't sure why, but he did, though it may have been because of his stomach growling. Oops, looked like he'd forgotten to eat breakfast. Not that it bothered him, sharks could wait a long time between meals, but he wasn't concerned with his weight that much, so he decided to do a little fishing of sorts.
He walked into the waves, not very far, and went under, enjoying feeling like he belonged, but he wasn't under to swim, not, and as he opened his eyes, he saw it.
A fish.
His hand shot out, grabbing and killing it with a strength he rarely had, and then as his air ran out, unfortunately, he swam back up, more so stood up, that is, and took a gulp of air, turning back to the shore and walking back. Most people would think that he was weird for catching fish that way, but he didn't care; Ethan wasn't the type to care of what people normally thought of him. If he had been alone, he would have shifted, but he didn't have any extra clothes and that guy was still on the beach.
Ethan's feet touched the sand again, and he brushed his hair back with the hand not holding the fish, and he grinned triumphantly. He then called out, “Hey! You want some sushi?” with one of his rare laughs tagged onto the end. [/blockquote] Tag: Aoi. Word count: 569. Clothes: Click. Notes: N/A.
