***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming
*************** Annette sat in the Cafeteria she had not felt like doing much now that she could move her back gave her slight twinges now and again but nothing she could not handle. She now sat holding a hot cup of hot chocolate her favorite in the cold days an since the winds were still high she felt it would be good to have. Her favorite book sat in front of her open to the page she had left it at book marked with a silk bookmark, on it sat two small kittens there eyes bright and there coats one black as pitch the other white as the fresh fallen snow. He liked it because it made her smile the dark one laid under the white one.
Looking into the book, she was lost in its pages and words becoming the main character the more she read. She could hear the wind out side howling like a wolf but she was content to sit inside smelling the food that was for lunch being ever gently cooked in the ovens. Lasagna, chips and some sweet pudding she could smell and it made her tummy rumble with anticipation. However, lunch was several hours away yet.
Glancing up she looked around the room every one doing there own thing girls talking to boys some with the arms around them , she just sighed feeling rather out of place sipping the dark brown liquid she sighed as she turned yet another page in the book. With her, mind in the book and on the story with in it of a young couple the man seeking to find her after she has been kidnapped and taken far from him. He searches the sea to find her and rescue her. She flipped another page noticing several people pass by but none even bothered to stop and speak to her.
Now with her cup empty she placed it down her attention turned back to the people around her. With her hair now braided, she found it staid out of her way as she looked down. Where if it was lose as she wanted it would be constantly in her face she could not help but chew the ends of her braid aimlessly as she read .She heard the clatter of something in the kitchen and a cook curse rather loudly at some one. Annette chuckled to her self, glad she was not the poor soul in the kitchen

I'm tuggin' at my hair. I'm pullin' at my clothes. I'm trying to keep my cool. I know it shows.
Perhaps it was the sterotype that teenage boys just simply enjoyed eating that brought him to the cafeteria at this time. Or perhaps it was that he was still touring the campus since he had so recently arrived. But he had stumbled across the smells drifting through the doors about an hour earlier, however he had not bothered to enter. Somehow, his map had turned him around and landed him back in this place. His stomach roared with anticipation of a soon meal. His eyes shifted, watching others as they approched the line, gathered their food and returned to a table that they had claimed earlier. Did everyone already know where they would sit for the year? Was everyone else here creatures of habit just as he was? The cane corso in him told him to stand tall and appear fierce. Don't let anyone think you're weak. You run this joint. It's all- he stopped his thoughts. Fights were far from what he wanted, though he craved them every day. It wasn't needed. Not now. Not when he was so new.
His hair swayed across his forehead. Removing his hat, he ran his fingers through the dark strands to push it away from his face and replaced the cap. Grumbling softly, he hoisted his hood over his head as he walked, shoving his hand into his pocket. In his right hand was a notebook. His prize possesion as of this week. Contained in the pages of this simple spiral notebook were designs that he had doodled since he had arrived.
Braxton was new, that much was obvious from the way he walked and kept a distance from everyone around him. Or perhaps he would just be thought of as someone who enjoyed their space. Grunting, he made his way through the crowd of others, watching carefully the rims of the cafeteria. He wasn't searching for anything in particular; just a place to sit for a few minutes and fill his empty stomach until he was able to continue his solitary tour of the campus. Swallowing hard, he slid sideways passed a group of giggling girls and he couldn't help but roll his eyes. In his old school, they were the type that everyone swooned after. Things here could very well be different, but even though his mother told him that everyone had the same shifting into animals things, would that really change how they acted as humans?
Braxton was torn from his thoughts as the edge of a table dug sharply into his right thigh. He winced and noticed that the table had moved due to his weight. He gaped at the dramatic movement for a moment, but quickly hardened his eyes again. Raising his gaze, he found himself looking at a red head with rather stunning eyes. "Sorry.. For moving the table, I mean," he said, gripping the edge of the table and dragging it back, only to hit himself in the thigh in the same spot once more. Way to go, kid. Make an idiot out of yourself and you haven't even started your classes yet. He hated the voice inside of his head that constantly critisized him for every move that he made.
He swallowed hard and looked around the cafeteria again before side-stepping away from the table and tugging on his sweatshirt and making a bee line for the door.
I'm staring at my feet. My cheeks are turning red. I'm searching for the words inside my head.

***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming
***************
Annette had just started the next chapter of her book when the table shifted letting the book slid to the floor below. The leg clipping her ankle making her wince in the pain she felt. As she picked up her book, her gaze turned to face the boy who had made it move pulling it back toward him as he did she saw him hit himself again and could not help smirk a little but she felt a little sorry for him too.
As she looked further up hid body, she saw he was not bad looking, his dark hair and dark eyes capturing her gaze almost immediately. Then she saw him walk away, quickly with out a second thought she stood up and touching his arm as she spoke, something instinctual made her pull back. “Hey where do you think your going?” She said moving to face him “you owe me a coffee mister” she said her eyes flashing at him and her voice was soft towards him, she could not pass up this opportunity, he would be the first boy to talk to her since she came to the school. In fact, apart from Heidi he would be only the second person ever to talk to her.
“Well, will you joining me or not, might stop those girls giggling and get you some peace,” she said “by that I mean something to eat with out being bugged. “ She could not help but smile at him warmly. “Ow names Annette, Annette Livingston,” she said offering her hand to him she hoped he would take it and her offer. As she held out her hand, she moved slightly wincing as he felt a sharp pain run down her back. Giving a sigh, she looked at him “Sorry, I kinda had a fight with a tree, dare I say the tree won. “She said now standing somewhat straight up the pain slowly easing.
As she stood facing him she could not help look into his eyes, something about what she saw seemed familiar like her own. Quickly she looked away, she hoped he would join her she had to be honest she was lonely and could use the company. “Ow but your probably on your way to see some one” she said and stepped out of his way feeling her cheeks seeming to turn pink she brushed her had over them puzzled just at why that had happened , she never blushed . However, there she stood her cheeks feeling somewhat warm in front of him and she did not even know his name

x x girl, please excuse me if i'm coming to you strong. but tonight is the night we can really let it go.Braxton was quick to catch the smirk that she made. It made his face hot as he hurried away. The only thing going through his mind at the moment was that he was a complete idiot and couldn't even watch where he was going. Apparently this was going to be exactly like the high school that he had just come from. Wonderful. His sarcasm leaked through his thoughts like a bad ceiling in a storm. Pretty soon, everything was soaked through and he was drowning in his own thoughts. There was a dull throb in his thigh each time he took a step, but he pushed the idea of pain away and continued on his way, trying to find a way to weave through the crowds and duck out before he could make a further idiot out of himself, but he was stopped.
Feeling her hand on his arm, he tensed, stopped and stared at the spot where her hand had just been. It hadn't hurt, but his brain registered anguish from the sensation. When had been the last time that someone had touched him in a gentle manner? One that was kind and simply friendly? Anything else had been either a touch of anxious foreplay or actually laying an angry hand across his face. No. That was a lie. His mother and Alana. They hadn't. But now he pushed them to the side of his thoughts as he realized that the girl was speaking to him. Her lips moved, but he didn't understand right away. Her voice seemed so far away in the sea of people that yelled or whispered in the echoing cafeteria.
Where was he going? That was a simple question to answer. Anywhere but here. Anywhere that he couldn't run into anything else to have someone touch him. As the girl moved in front of him, Braxton stepped back in order to give her more space, but came in contact with another table that stopped him short, keeping him in close proximity to the unknown female. He searched her eyes quickly when she spoke about coffee. He noticed the glint of flirting behind them and he smiled crookedly. Nodding his head, he let out a coughing laugh. "I guess I do since I interrupted your reading," he said. His voice was rough, but had a softness under the stiffness. With that, he bent down, picked up the book and handed it back to her with a slight smile.
Braxton gave a sideways glance to the girls who spent their entire conversation giggling and throwing him looks. He narrowed his eyes sharply and pulled his hood tighter around his head, fixing the brim of his hat. "Getting away from the noise sounds like a very good idea," he said, his voice showing some form of hope. There was an annoyance rising in him with the constant noise. He didn't enjoy it whenever it was unorganized noise, if that was ever possible. Quiet much better suited him.
He raised an eyebrow in wonder as she complained of pain. Had he hit the table so hard that he hurt her? But she quickly recovered from the sound of it and introduced herself. Annette Livingston. It was a nice name and individual. One didn't hear a lot of old names anymore. Braxton took her hand and shook it lightly. He laughed shortly when she spoke about the tree. "Pleasure to meet you, Annette. Sorry to hear about the tree, though." The smile he had reached his eyes only for a moment before going back and only being on his lips. It was hard for him. This feeling of being okay and having nothing to hide. She wouldn't ask about his past or the bruises. Or so he hoped anyway.
"My name is Braxton Pearce.. And I haven't had any fights with trees lately," he teased and smirked again. His forehead wrinkled with displeasure when she mentioned him meeting someone else. He shook his head no and he raised his eyebrow again at the pink rising in her cheeks. "Nope. I was just taking a tour around campus, actually." my girlfriend is out of town and i'm all alone. your boyfriend's on vacation and he doesn't have to know. ------------------ dear annette, i wrote 697 letters to you. i listened to enrique iglesias sing the song i like it when i wrote this one. please write me back.

Annette took his hand and sighed she felt nothing from him again, she had started to give up on finding that one male she connected with . She looked at him though he seems to hurt from inside and outwardly but she asked no questions they were none of her business. In fact, that was her trouble, she did not ask any questions, so leaving her quit unobserved in the whole school and she now felt it, she was quite alone. Ow people had spoken to her but none ad become anything other that passing acquaintances.
She gave a welcoming smile as he said he was just touring the campus , she now knew he was new though she wasn’t in fact she was several months into her life there and still nobody to talk to. She moved him back to her quiet table and sat down facing him. “Pleasure to meet you, Braxton, so what do you think?” She asked placing her book down in the table in front of her. “ …of the school , do you like it or not , me personally its not a bad place, just got a lot of people who can’t accept what they are and who they are and come here to find out.“ she smiled at him friendly, well as friendly as she could feeling the way she was at that time . “Well maybe I could show you around, would make it a bit more interesting .
The more she looked at him the more she could tell he was not one for talkie about his past and so steered away from that instead she decided to ask him about what he liked. “Braxton what music do you like?” she asked “me personally I like rock, but I do play guitar , hey, maybe I could show it to you some time “ she then stopped “Ow , sorry I kinda talk a lot when I’m nervous, sorry” she said brushing her red hair back from her face to tuck it back behind her ear .
She sat looking at him and sighed by the look of him she took it he would have a girl friend or some one special in his life but she was just glad of some one who didn’t just up and walk away from her and was male not female. Girls were good , but only wanted to talk about boys something she didn’t have .
