Overall: [400 words minimum]
If you saw Sandeep in a store, he would most likely be the one arguing with the manager about the price of an item. Sandeep is a born haggler, and can spot a bad deal a mile off.
It's not always that way though, because Sandeep can be extremely lazy sometimes, except when he's running. Running is definitely the quickest way to get Sandeep's attention and easiest way to perk him up.
Sandeep loves to run, but probably loves to race even more. That's the only time that Sandeep's competitive, but other than that, he's pretty adaptable, as long as it doesn't have to deal with swimming or the cold.
Sandeep hates to swim, and can't comprehend why people would want to submerge themselves in water on hot summer days. Those days are Sandeep's favorite, especially if they're dry and have lots of sand.
He doesn't hate water though, just swimming. Water is his favorite drink, he just doesn't ever want to be surrounded by it.
Sandeep loves black and white photos. He loves the fact that they have a certain character to them, and the same goes for old books.
He has a geography addiction, and with that addiction comes a love of the stars. He thinks it's amazing that if he didn't have a map, which he's rarely without because he thinks they're so cool, he could use the stars to find his way back.
Sandeep is a very social person, and hates it when people are shy. He loves to hang out with friends, and has a lot more fun when they're social, too.
He loves Thai and Indian food, more so Indian food. He's not bothered by the spice, and could it all day, everyday.
Sandeep has an intense fear of losing his ability to walk, like his mom. He also fears getting lost, which will probably never happen. He faced a lot of racism when he was growing up, so he hates being treated like dirt, and people treating others like dirt.
Sandeep is a very proud person, and one could say that he suffers from a case of hubris, deadly pride. On the flip side though, he doesn't often show his feelings, so most people don't know that he has a lot of pride.
He has a lot of things that get on his nerves, like chocolate, GPS, Star Wars, and mosquitoes, but once you get past all his negative aspects, you'll find that he's a diamond in the rough, just like Aladdin in the Disney movie...oh, wait. Sandeep can't stand that movie!

From the top, people!
Sandeep's hair is dark, very dark. It's closer to black than anything else, but isn't. It's simply an extremely dark brown. His eyebrows are the same, and it's obvious, considering that he sometimes has a unibrow. Unfortunately for him, he has to pluck regularly, otherwise the top of the bridge of his nose would be overtaken.
His nose is a pretty dominant feature of his face, but fits well with his oval shaped face. The eyes are more dominant than the face though, for they seem to be the same color as his hair: dark, very dark. Sometimes it's impossible to see his pupils, even.
Sandeep is obviously Indian, with his dark hair and eyes, but his skin is what reveals it. His skin is a dark tan, but no where close to being considered African American. His skin is oilier than most, but he washes it often, so it's hard to tell. He's still pretty young, so occasionally he will get a couple zits, much to his dismay.
His ears stick out a little, but not too noticeably, and his neck is a little longer than most, but still considered average.
Sandeep weighs in at about 140 pounds and is about five feet and eight inches tall. Most of his height is taken up by his legs, which are pretty long.
From the top, camels!
Sandeep is a dromedary camel, and therefore has only one hump. But that's not really the top, is it?
As a camel, Sandeep's ears stick out yet again, kind of like a horse bear thing...does that make sense? To make a little more sense, his ears stick out like a horse's can, but are shaped more like a bear's.
Again like a horse, his face becomes a muzzle, but still retains it's oval shape.
His neck instantly grows longer as a camel, but like as a human, it is only slightly longer than most.
His fur is comparable to sand, but is actually slightly darker than that. It's almost the color of his human skin; almost, but not quite, for it's a little lighter and more of a blond color than a caramel.
As a camel, he weighs in at about one thousand one hundred pounds. He's around six feet tall, and his long legs make up a lot of that height, yet again.
His least favorite part of being a camel is the tail, though he doesn't really mind it because it is the exact same color as his fur ("Thank Vishnu!") can sometimes just blend with it.[/size]
...history
Parents: Fareed Gupta (currently age 65) and Ana Gupta* (deceased at age 50)
Siblings: Sharmila and Sharvani Gupta (twins) (currently age 35)
Neela Gupta (currently age 30)
--Sandeep*--

Fareed and Ana met through their parents. Their parents were very traditional, and had actually set up an arranged marriage for the two.
They only saw each other during the summers for Ana went to a special boarding school (Shifter Academy, though only her parents knew that) and Fareed was in college. During those summers, they were friends, but weren't much else. Needless to say though, to please their parents, they went through with the marriage when Ana was nineteen, and Fareed was twenty nine.
One year later, they had girl twins. Sharmila and Sharvani were the picture of twin cuteness, though Fareed and their families didn't care about that. They just wanted a boy, an heir of sorts. Sharmila and Sharvani didn't care about that though, for they were more free than they had expected.
When the twins were five, Neela was born, much to the disappointment of her dad and relatives yet again. She was just as free as the twins, and for that she was grateful.
They lived pretty normal lives, well, as normal as Indian children raised as Hindus could live in a dominantly white Christian community.
Neela was five and the twins were ten when Sandeep was born, to much delight.
He was smothered though, taught what a woman was supposed to do, and what men were supposed to do, which he learned was basically nothing, in the eyes of his father.
Sandeep was taught what was right though, by his mother. He would always go to the grocery store with her whenever she went. It was there that he was taught, it was there that he learned.
He learned that it wasn't always the woman's job to cook and clean. Men could do that too. He learned that his mom used to be a classically trained Indian dancer, though she never got to dance anymore.
Through his mom, he discovered his love of the stars. Most of the time he spent with his mom was either shopping or stargazing.
Stars weren't the only thing he loved though. He loved maps and running, things most of his family thought was weird.
His sisters were the most opinionated of the bunch, he learned. If something was different with them, it was automatically uncool. They were very bubbly, and loved pink, the epitome of little girls.
They weren't little girls for long though. And Sandeep wasn't a little boy for long either. They had to deal with things that little kids shouldn't have to deal with: their mom losing her ability to walk.
Ana had to use a wheelchair for the rest of her life. The story was that she had fallen down a flight of stairs, but what had really happened was worse. Fareed had been drunk one day, and had pushed her off of their deck in a fit of rage. No one really knew what had happened, not even Ana or Fareed. He was too drunk to remember anything, so he was still a father figure, and Ana could only remember the feeling of falling.
This didn't stop Ana from taking care of her kids though. She was still the mom she always had been, she just needed a little help sometimes.
When the twins were twelve, Ana took a precaution: she took them out of school to home school them. She home schooled them until they were fifteen, when she learned that they wouldn't ever shift.
She repeated that when Neela was twelve, and had the same results. Ana was glad that her daughters didn't have to go through with it, for she herself didn't like to shift anymore, not that she hadn't loved to shift, it was just that she was afraid to. Her shift had been a butterfly, and she was afraid that since she couldn't walk, she had also lost her ability to fly.
When Sandeep was twelve, the drill was repeated, but for good reason.
At the age of thirteen, he shifted. It was during one of their home schooling sessions, which usually took place in their kitchen, considering it was upstairs (no stairs for Ana anymore), and easy for his mom to maneuver in.
He remembered the little details like that, working through some fractions, the way his mom's wheelchair was squeaking as she rolled over to check his work. He preferred not to focus on the big picture, his shifting, but it was hard not to considering the pain he had felt.
It was the most painful experience of his life, and he had wondered it had been like that for his mom when she had lost the ability to walk.
He had felt like he really needed to go to the chiropractor as his neck extended unrealistically. In pain, he had gone down to the floor, and his back felt like it was being whipped by the sun as he grew a single hump. His arms became legs, and they grew hooves, as well as his legs. As his face grew outward, he tried to moan in pain, but didn't hear a human sound, but heard that of a camel.
His mom sent him off to Shifter Academy after that, and he stayed during summers as well, and never saw her again.
After he graduated, he learned that his mom was in the hospital. He didn't learn which hospital, or why she was there, but on his twentieth birthday, he discovered that she had died.
The loss of his mom was a lot for him, so he wanted to remember her always through the stars. He was glad that he could see that stars anywhere, because he learned that he wanted to teach, and so he went off again to Shifter Academy.

[One Paragraph Minimum]
One of the most obvious reasons that Sandeep is a camel is the way he looks. He's Indian, and to this day, caravan camels are still widely used in India. In the past though, camels were also used in the interest of commerce, and Sandeep is a very good haggler and can spot a bad deal right off the bat. Sandeep loves to run and has an obsession with geography, and camels were often used for racing and transportation. Sandeep hates the cold, and camels are native to more arid regions. Due to the fact that camels are able to last a long time without water, Sandeep is the same way. Sandeep is a dromedary camel, which is odd considering he is Indian, not Arabian. But Sandeep is very single minded, and so he's a dromedary camel, with only one single hump. And like a dromedary, he has an obvious temper.

Sandeep was laying under the stars like usual, and was thinking.
Thinking was something he did a lot now, it seemed like. He thought about everything nowadays. His mom, mostly, what her life must have been like.
It was during times like these that he missed more than ever, during things that he had done with her, which was usually just stargazing (and grocery shopping).
It was she that had fueled his love of the stars, he liked to believe, though he wasn't entirely sure that was the only reason. Sandeep had loved them for his entire life, it seemed like, not that his life was that long.
Being around for only twenty years so far wasn't that big of an accomplishment in Sandeep's eyes. No, the stars were big, this land was big. They had been around for millions and millions of years, granted they had changed a lot, but they were still there.
His thoughts seemed to be focusing on one point more and more these days. That point was his mom, and whenever his sisters caught him zoning out, he never revealed what he was thinking about, he just changed the subject.
Sighing, he stood up from his spot on the ground, brushing the dirt off of his shorts, but continued to look at the sky.
He was able to see Venus tonight, and it was truly amazing. It looked like a tiny speck compared to the moon, but it wasn't really like that. It was bigger than the moon in real life, but it was still amazing.
"I miss you, Mom," he said to no one, ready to walk back home.
He hesitated though, for how often did he get to come to the park? Often, always to stargaze, but...how long had it been since he'd been on the swing? At least ten years.
Walking over, Sandeep checked his surroundings, wondering if anybody was watching him. When everything looked clear, he got on the swing, feeling like a little kid as he pumped his legs.
All of a sudden though, Sandeep thought he heard something. He jumped off the swing set, landing just so, so that he would be able to start running in the blink of an eye.
Then he heard the noise again, not quite sure what it was, but he was off like lightning and using the stars as his guide in the place of a map.
