Major Explanation: Sage didn't start off wanting to go into Zoology, however after she found out about her ability to change into an animal, she wanted to know everything possible about how animals function in our world. Zoology encompasses many studies of not only animals them self but includes animal behavior, anatomy, histology, physiology and so much more. Zoology was something that spurred her curiosity about what and why animals do what they do. Of course it surely wasn't her parents idea as they had hoped she would follow in their footsteps of becoming an Attorney.

Plain Jane

Sage is an ordinary girl with an extra ordinary gift to shift. If you look about this crowd in the park here, you may pass her by, no she isn't in that prissy clique of pretty girls or even with the geeks with all the numbers, no there she is under the elm tree in the shade reading a scifi novel, her white wash jeans, light pink Tee shirt with denim jacket and hiking boots, her small blue book bag that is next to her as plays as her purse and is hardly ever seen without it.

Politics

This is one subject you don't want to talk about around Sage as she hates it so much because of all the mud swinging in campaigns, the lies, the lack of empathy to the people as a whole, no not something she rather not speak of.

Synchronized Swimming

If you want to get on her good side, then ask her about synchronized swimming, one of her most favorite sports in the world. Where else can you have the grace of ballet, the strength of gymnastics and the power of speed swimming all in one? Sage got hooked on the sport after seeing in on TV, since then it's one way she expresses herself. Have a bad day? She goes and swims it out and it helped her out with her scuba diving as well.

Scuba Diving

"Blame it on Amanda!" Is what she will tell you how she became interested in this sport "It's all her fault" she teases. Sage free dives whenever she is at home, it helps her with her breath control. Scuba diving has given her an outlet to share her love of swimming with her sister and her best friend Amanda. Even her parents have made some dives with her. After all where can one swim with the fishes and be part of the sea life down below?

Horseback riding

If there was another animal that Sage felt close too that would have to be horse's. Not only does her family have two but she enjoys showing them also. The connection that one needs to be with such an animal is amazing, they know fear, nervousness and confidence.

Animals

Now when we talk about animals you are talking about Sage's favorite subject in the world. So many creatures that are alike yet different. So many characteristics, personalities in each and every creature from the ants to the birds, from the lion to the mice and everything lives within our world. Sage enjoys the study of Zoology because of all the difference and similarities in such.

Family

One can tell that she is compassionate and protective of her family, the way she talks about her family, her eyes seem to glitter, there is always a smile when you ask her about them. She is most closest to her Mother-Wendy who she goes to for everything, from the smallest boo boo to her biggest fears. Next is her twin sister- Lee-Anne, they are more alike then they are opposite most of the time they are civil but you know how it is between siblings they do tend to cross each other and fight but nothing so bad they wouldn't keep from each other. You may wonder if that "do they know what each is thinking" thing is true, well it may seem so with this pair always completing each other sentences and such. Just because we are listing her father last in this is in no way means that he is not in her life. Her father- Richard is her ground always letting her know what is in her best interest, when her mother isn't there she runs to her father. Of course a family tree isn't complete unless we talk about the animals. Yes animals. They live on a small farm with two horses, three goats, some chickens and ducks, they are all part of Sage's life and she loves each of them like if they were only one.
Sage also has her grandparents in her life and her aunt on her moms side and her aunt and uncle on her fathers side.

Even with her family's closeness there was a hidden secret that she would only learn too soon.

School

Sage believes in good schooling, how else can one goto an Ivy League institution? She tends to be perfectionist even in the sports synchronized swimming, horse back riding and ballet. If she not working at school work you bet you can find her at one the sports she enjoys.

Fun

We can't end talking about Sage if you don't know about what she does for fun now can we? Anything that had to do with water Sage liked. One of her best friends- Amanda Petro got her hooked on scuba diving when her family invited the twins out on the boat, there first trip taking place at 10! Amanda and Sage have gone out for summer adventures ever since. Sage also enjoys sci-fi movies, tv shows and books, and as a child she loved the TV series "Animorphs".

Her human form
In her human form she is pretty much your average teenager with her light brown hair reaching just below her shoulder blades, most of the time she lets it just hang there other times its in a pony tail. They say that the eyes are windows to ones soul, then as you can see Sage's soul is right there for everyone to see, her sensitive nature her compassion all there in her eyes, just look and you too will see it, those pale blue eyes, almost hypnotic. Her fair skin that doesn't tan but burns, her five foot two inch frame holds her weight of 110 with the grace of a ballet dancer, though she admits she rather weigh less then what she does now. She wears loose fitting clothes like jeans or sweats because she does not like the constricting feel of anything tight on her body. Often you will see her with her jean jacket and small blue book bag that doubles as a purse. With small feet she prefers hiking boots to sneakers or dress shoes. Jewelry? Other then stud earing's and a watch, no. Often times she goes without make up preferring to be all natural. Sage has just her ears piercings, two in her left, one in her right, she has no tattoos or other scars to speak of here.

Her animal form
To know about Sage's animal side we have to take a look at the animal it self, the African Clawless Otter is also known as the Cape Clawless or the Groot Otter and is the second largest of the freshwater Otters. It thick fur of somewhat a chestnut color is smooth to the touch. What makes the clawless different from other otters is it's lack of true claws with only fingernail like claws on three of its 5 toes on it's hind feet. Her animals head is large, board and flat giving way to a slender, muscular body with her small orbit like eyes, and like her human form those eyes give way to her soul. Her animal form is about four and a half feet long with her strong, thick tail and she weighs about half that of her human form. One can see that her animal form lives more in the water then it does out and the diet of this otter is mainly crabs, worms, fish, frogs. In the wild her type of otter would live alone or in very small groups only pairing up to mate. In her animal form the otters whiskers are very sensitive for locating food or animals.[/size]

Even thou Sage's parents are Attorney's and make a good deal of money it doesn't mean they live in a huge house or get everything under the sun that they wanted, in fact they live in a modest home that was once a farm house. The property is settled on waterfront to a massive lake that empties out into the ocean off of Dennis Massachusetts. The property is just big enough for a small barn, garden area and a storage unit where they keep the seasonal items and an oversize yard. Sage's favorite spot was always at the water's edge, digging in the sand or waddling in the surf.
Her parents found each other at work, her mother defending the guy and her father prosecuting him, as they say it was love at first sight, they dated and it was him who told his secret to her, she was overjoyed to find another shifter to share her life, it was then they wanted a family, as the pair were making wedding plans Wendy learned she was pregnet with twins no less! They were over joyed to no end.
There birth came on time thru a normal delivery without drugs which Wendy insisted on and the twins grew like little weeds almost always together. Their childhood was uneventful they went to local school up to sixth grade before the pair was shipped off to "Ethel Walker school" in Simsbury Connecticut, a boarding school for girls were the girls excelled and thrived.
In the summer time they would return home, helping out on the family farm with the animals then going to the beach side for cool off from the summer's hot, humid and Haze rays. Of course they also went out with there best friend- Amanda on the family boat going scuba diving and surfing.
Three months ago while with Amanda they went scuba diving to a deeper section of the reef were they like to hang out and watch the sea life, collecting shark teeth to sell to visitors. This trip thou Sage went off by herself thinking that she would just be around the corner from her sister and Amanda, after all what could go wrong?
While exploring she followed a sea snake into a tunnel where she managed to get herself wedged into, she couldn't get out, move or even turn, of course she panicked, screaming her lungs out using up her tank air. That is when something happened, her bones breaking and reforming, her body changing, she didn't know what was happening, then nothing. When Sage didn't return to the boat Amanda's parents called the rescue unit out and her parents who went directly to the command post waiting for word of their daughter. Less then four hours later they found her tank, suit and a lock of hair stuck in the regulator but no Sage, the search continued until the next day a person walking on the beach edge found her, naked and unresponsive.
She was transported to the hospital where her family was at her side the whole time. Her mother hovering over the bed holding her hand tight until she woke. When she told them what happened at the hospital they seemed like they didn't believe her. Yet once she was home recovering her mother and father gave her the talk that would change her world forever.
Her mother showed her, Sage screamed at the sight of her mother changing, her father noticed Sage changing herself, He went and held her tight thru out the change and then waited for her to change back. Her father knew of the academy and made arrangements for the twins to enter the semester, he didn't expect them to change yet, even thou they were fifteen years olds because bother parents had been late to change.
It is the parents hope that Sage learn how to control her shifting and accept who and what she is.

Both share an uncanny love and desire to be in and around water, where they can express themselves thru body movements and play. Sage has started to understand her animal shift more and continues to study about it when ever she can. A love of fish is one of Sage's second favorite thing about them.

From "Suffer the children"
Two days ago, Violet's doctors had the Parenteral Hyperalimentation taken out in preparation for her move to 'The Hadley Institute - for trouble youth'. Violet was very happy to have that tube out of her veins for once, where as the move she wasn't very happy about because it was so far away, in one way it was good because it meant not seeing her parents, independence in a way, and all she had to do was not follow the directions and she be returning home, or at least that is what she thought. However when the time came to get transferred her doctor came to tell her that she was not going today but the next day because of some unforeseen situation that arose, with a sigh Violet turned away from the doctor and went back to reading her book and her waiting.

The next day her parents came to wish her good luck as well as give her a suitcase of things that would be needed at the Institute. Saying goodbye to them didn't seem hard at all, she been away from them before and she knew she would see them again,it was no big deal like her mother would think it was. At the time of transfer the ambulance came up and two paramedics got out, both females, one with dark hair in a bun the other blonde with a short crop cut. With hugs from her parents the medics sat her on the stretcher and belted her in, the one with blonde hair took her vials before they were on there way to Hadley.

The medic in the back with her was quiet yet polite and informed her it would over a day of driving and they would stop for bathroom breaks and food. Violet groaned at the word food, like she would even go near food or even the sight of it, yeah right, NOT! Violet was silent formost of the trip except to ask "how much longer?" They stopped four times the whole trip and Violet was good to the paramedics who were good to her. The ambulance drove onto the grounds and was directed to the admittance area where a security officer was waiting.

With the paramedics now gone, she stood there with the guard who took her suitcase and asked her to follow him. Violet looked at the aging building and she shuttered as a cold chill raced down her spine. The guard showed her to her room and advised her that the school was on lockdown and to remain in the room until the next morning when she would be seen by the doctors, he turned with her suitcase which would be checked before being returned to her, he did come back a short while later and handed her her night clothes, a pair of socks, jeans and a shirt, he advised her to change and to leave her hospital clothes in the hamper.

In the sunlit room clearly she had a room mate 'great' she thought. Violet went tot he empty bad and started to pull down the blanket when she heard some kind of snort, she turned and looked at the lump on the next bed and wondered what that girl was here for. She turned back to her bed, taking off her shoes and placing the neatly under the bed she got into bed pulling the sheets up to her neck and changed into the jeans and shirt, then because she was just so exhausted she fell fast asleep.

Just hours later she woke and sat on the edge of the bed, watching the lump in the other bed, again wondering about her, what was she like? what was wrong with her? would they get along? Voilet's thoughts then were about the hospital it self and just thinking about made her cringe with fear.
