Jordan held his breath as he opened the dorm room door. He had managed to miss his roommates when he had dropped off his luggage. The first night of his school life had been spent in the library with Heidi; both of them waiting out the power outage. The had storm was still been raging outside when he had finally worked up the courage to part ways with the girl and face his possibly occupied dorm room. He had lucked out, however, and the room had been empty for the short time he'd been in it. He had soon left again in order to forage for food. Luck seemed to be on his side yet again as room 111 was again empty. But he needed to unpack, which would give his roommates plenty of time to find him. Well, it had to happen eventually, right? He got to work unzipping his bags and laying claim to the only bed left. Back home, the only person he lived with was his father and he was away on business most of the time. Plus their house was big and they were rarely in close quarters aside from the occasional dinner. Suddenly being tossed into a room with two other people was a bit nerve racking and Jordan was very unsure of how it was going to work out. Schoolmates hadn't been able to stand him when he was younger and only spoke to him when they had to. How would two complete strangers be able to but up with him? What would happen if they couldn't? So many things could go wrong, but his last few years of home schooling had made him even more anti-social then he had been in elementary school. Sure, his interaction with Heidi went well, but she seemed the type who would get along with anyone. He needed to learn how to interact with people and how to deal with people who didn't like him. He took out his jewelry box and his treasure box and glanced around the room, trying to decide the most secure place for them. However he wasn't sure what all space was available and didn't want to go poking around and accidentally finding his roommate's belongings. With a sigh he decided the safest place for the moment would be under the bed. Maybe one of his roommates would be able to suggest a better spot when one of them wandered in. That is, if he was willing to both talk to them and reveal he had valuables he wanted to protect. A sigh escaped him as he decided he might as well change before stashing the jewelry box. He had been to hungry to do so before hand. Black slacks were pulled from one of the luggage bags along with a black, short sleeved silk shirt. He laid both out on the bed before opening the jewelry box. He couldn't help but smile and tilt his head a bit when all the shiny metal and precious stones came into view. What all caught his eye the most today? The silver Rolex his father had given him for his 16th birthday, ("You're a man now, and a true man needs a Rolex." The most the man had spoken to him the entire day,) a black, stainless steel ring and a sterling silver ring with an onyx set, and a gold chain necklace to go along with the silver necklace with the bird pendant he was already wearing. He also grabbed a few necklaces that had doubtlessly come from quarter machines, but those would all be hidden beneath his shirt. And then their were Silly Bands. Intellectually he thought they were pointless, but the bright colors made it nearly impossible for him not to collect them. He had managed to resist wearing them yesterday but now they were practically screaming to be picked up and worn. As he put his hand through at least a dozen of the bizarrely shaped rubber bands, he hoped his new roommates wouldn't think him a fool for wearing them. With his jewelry picked out, it was finally time to change. The black shirt had been soaked in the storm yesterday still smelled like rain as he pulled it over his head and dropped it to the floor.

Jamie yawned, and jumped down from the tree he was in, landing on his feet with a thump. He figured that he should go inside, the sky didn't look so good, but he didn't really know where to go. He was bored, and wanted something to do, so he figured he would wander for a little.
As he was walking, he saw the rain start pouring down, and ran inside as fast as he could, which wasn't very fast, so he was pretty wet once he got inside. Scowling, he ran his fingers through his hair, and shook the water droplets off of his afterwards. He didn't stay scowling for long, though. He was determined to find something to do, so he figured he would go check out his dorm, maybe see if his room mates were there.
He pulled a piece of paper out of the pocket of his jeans, and noted that his room number was one hundred and eleven. Only one number to remember, that'd be easy enough for him. The paper said his room mates were “Justin Case” and “Jordan Pierce,” so Jamie was excited at the prospect of becoming “Triple J.”
Jamie slowed his steps, keeping them in time with the second hand on his watch, and enjoyed just relaxing a little. It wasn't as good as being in a tree, but hey, he couldn't complain. He was a pretty easy going person, so was his shift, so he didn't really like things going too hectic.
He wondered what his room mates would be like, but shoved that thought aside. He'd figure it out when he got to the dorm. That moment came sooner than he thought though, and before he knew it, he was in front of the door that said “111” on it.
Taking a deep breath, he opened the door, and saw that he wasn't alone. He figured the guy must be his room mate, it would be weird if it wasn't, so Jamie prepared himself for introductions. His eyes caught the Silly Bands on the guy's wrist, he smiled slightly. The Silly Bands were a good sign; they meant that at least his one of his room mates wasn't going to be a stick in the mud.
Probably, at least.
Jamie walked over to the bed he had claimed earlier, trying to act nonchalant, and sat down, pulling out one of his gardening books from underneath it, and said, “I'm Jamie. Are you Jordan, or are you Justin?” [/size][/blockquote] {Tag: Jordan or Justin Word count: 422-ish. Clothes: Click!Notes: My muse is dead >.<}

Jordan jumped a mile when a voice came from one of the other beds. When on earth had he come in? Had Jordan really been that lost in thought? He swallowed hard and quickly pulled on his black silk shirt. How had this feared encounter sneaked up on him so fast? And while standing half naked no doubt! He was doing it again. Mentally rambling and letting the awkward silence grow. Only for it was to suck it up and meet the encounter like a man. After all, he was a raven not a chicken. Taking a deep breath, he turned to the other teen. "I'm Jordan." He said a bit rushed before his mind went over what his roommate had actually said. "The other one is Justin? I didn't get a chance to find out what your names would be." His eyes moved to the other bed, wondering what the third boy would be like before deciding to examine the one that was available first. Jamie was soaked, so he must have been outside. Brown hair, possibly black since it was hard to distinguish wet. Fairly simple clothes and holding a gardening book. A hobby perhaps? Were you able to have your own garden at the school? So maybe it had to do with his major then. Jordan realized suddenly that he must be staring. Lord only knows what he looked like, since he didn't have a constant smile like Heidi. Turning back to his luggage quickly, he started pulling things out at random and setting them on the bed. He still needed to change his pants, but he was probably making a weird enough first impression as it was. "So, um..." Jamie had asked if he was Justin, which meant he hadn't met the other teen yet. Did that mean Jamie was new as well? Or maybe he had been living in the dorm on his own and Justin was new? Either way, Jordan was fairly sure school was a safe topic for getting-to-know-you small talk. "How long have you been at this school?" he asked, still focused on emptying his luggage. His mother's diaries began to form a careful pile at the end of his bed. "And, do you know what all space I have here?" He asked as he sent a nervous glance back toward Jamie, hoping the boy didn't find him strange already. Word count: 418 Notes: I foresee me mixing up these 'J' names XD

"I'm Jordan. The other one is Justin? I didn't get a chance to find out what your names would be,” his room mate said, and Jamie nodded, committing the name to memory. Triple J...the thought was still funny, but Jamie hoped he wouldn't confuse them at all.
Jamie noticed that he must have startled Jordan, and he felt bad about it, he knew that he wouldn't like being sneaked up upon like that. He was surprised that he had managed to do that though, it wasn't in his nature to be sneaky; even though koalas were pretty quiet animals, they weren't cats, that was for sure, in both look and personality.
“How long have you been at this school?” Jordan asked, and before Jamie could even think of a reply, the teen continued with, “And, do you know what all space I have here?”
He would have frowned at the second question, he wasn't entirely sure, but he wasn't sure if that would be seen as rude, so he did so internally. He sat his book down on his bed, and faced his new room mate with a slight smile, closed mouth, more of a nonchalant smirk than anything else, on his face, trying to be friendly even though he was such a solitary person. Jamie had to admit to himself that he wasn't completely sure about the whole room mate concept, but he was positive he'd eventually get used to it.
Lost in his thoughts, Jamie remembered the question, and replied, “This is my first year, er, summer here; I'm a newbie. And regarding space...my guess is whatever you can fit under your bed, your share of the closet, and if you have a dresser you can probably use that as well.”
It wasn't the best answer to his question, it was evasive more than anything else, but only because he didn't know the answer, other wise he wouldn't have hesitated to go over all the details. He wondered what Jordan's shift was, if it had anything to do with him needing space, and what he needed space for. Jamie wasn't normally a curious person, but since he'd come to this school, he'd found that he was becoming more so, usually just about the shifts of other students.
“Do you mind me asking what shift you are?” he blurted out before he could stop himself. “I'm a koala, so I want to make sure I'm not rooming with a dingo or anything.” He smiled, thinking of how Jordan probably thought he was weird now if he didn't before because of the gardening book. “This is my first year, er, summer here; I'm a newbie. And regarding space...my guess is whatever you can fit under your bed, your share of the closet, and if you have a dresser you can probably use that as well.”Jordan nodded. At the very least they were in the same boat, then. The phrase possibly becoming literal if the storm outside had it's way. Was it possible for a hurricane to completely take out an island? Blue eyes glanced toward the wind, thankful for it's existence even though the rain blocked most things from view and the wind caused it to shutter a bit. It was less difficult to believe in the concept of Atlantis after witnessing a storm like that. Back to the concept at hand, though, the bed and a third of the closet didn't leave him with a lot of secure places for his things - if any. If he managed to survive the storm, he'd have to try and go another island and buy a lock box or something. Maybe he'd even have the courage to ask Heidi to go with him. Girls liked shopping, didn't they? Maybe not for miniature safes, but... He shook his head with a sigh and started hanging up his clothes. He didn't have a lot so he doubted he'd even take up his third of the closet. “Do you mind me asking what shift you are? I'm a koala, so I want to make sure I'm not rooming with a dingo or anything.”Jordan froze, body tensing. Again, someone stood before him asking him to reveal his secret. Was it really so normal for Shifters to casually talk about their animal forms? It wasn't considered rude to ask something so personal when you had just met someone? Sure, his Aunt had asked him, but more so that she knew for sure he was a shifter. And she had been family. He hadn't felt comfortable when Heidi had asked, and Jordan had already come to think of her as a friend. Now this complete stranger so easily revealed his own form and wanted Jordan to do the same? "I'm no dingo." he managed stiffly, a bit colder then he had intended. He wanted to avoid telling him his shift, but if Jamie feared for his own safety, it was logical for him to want to know if he was going to be living with a predator. Some part of him was disappointed. Disappointed that the answer to a puzzle he had been refusing to let him self think about had been discovered so easily without any challenge. But his mind was already beginning to form theories on what Jamie's personality might be like, based on the little Jordan knew of Koalas. He bit down hard on the inside of his cheek. This was not a habit he wanted to fall into.

“I'm no dingo,” Jordan said, a little coldly, and rather than relaxing at the thought, Jamie felt bad. It seemed like a subject Jordan didn't like talking about, so Jamie decided to let it drop. It wasn't too important anyway, as long as he wasn't rooming with an animal capable of eating his own shift. The thought of dying as a koala was a scary one, and Jamie hoped he wouldn't have nightmares about getting torn apart by a wild animal. He had never had that fear before, but now he added it to the list in his mind.
He figured he should probably reply, try to ease the tension that had formed a little bit, so he said, “That's good. I have to admit that I'm terrified of them, probably considering that they eat koalas sometimes.” Rambling, rambling, rambling! That's what he response sounded like to his own ears. So far they hadn't gotten off to a very good start, but he hoped to change that; especially considering that they were going to have to live together, so it would be better for them to be friends.
Judging by Jordan's reaction to Jamie's question, he didn't take him as the type to reveal things about himself easily, or at least not as the type to reveal his shift easily, so he swallowed the question about his major forming in his throat. He didn't want to make him angry or anything, especially considering that he didn't know this boy's shift yet. Jamie shrugged internally, though, he was sure that it would come up eventually, the topic of majors, that is, for Jamie was starting to doubt he'd ever figure out Jordan's shift.
“So did you arrive during the storm?” Jamie asked, then wondered if he should start regretting now. He swallowed the lump in his throat then continued with, “It looked like it was pretty bad, it felt pretty bad when I came inside from climbing some trees, especially judging by my now soaked clothes.” A slight laugh, really it was more so a chuckle, was attached to the end of the sentence, and he hoped it could be a little ice breaker of sorts. Speaking of his clothes, Jamie got off his bed, and grabbed one of the towels he had brought from underneath, rubbing it through his wet hair. He felt a little weird that he had brought his own towel, but he wasn't sure where they were in their rooms, or if the room even had a bathroom, or if it was going to be communal somewhere down the hallway. And he did it again! He revealed something about himself really early, first his shift, and now his favorite past time, but what he loved to do was obvious if you knew even a little about koala; they spent a lot of their lives in trees after all. Jordan sighed, trying to convince his heart that the other boy wasn't trying to trap him with his questioning. It was a ridiculous train of thought anyway. How can simple 'getting to know you' questions be entrapping? None the less, he wished the window could be opened or at the very least that he was closer to the door. "I got in last night, just as it was starting." There, see? He could be friendly. There was no need to be overreacting and panicky. Jamie was drying his hair now and reminding Jordan all the more that he still needed to change his pants. They were going to live together, but surely it would be awkward for him to just drop his draws in front of a complete stranger, especially during their first meeting. Though, Jamie was soaked to, and probably wanting to change. Maybe he could wait and see if he started changing first? With his luck the third one -what was his name? Justin?- would walk in to see them both half naked. Wouldn't THAT be a wonderful first impression? Another sigh escaped him as he began lining books up on the shelf above his bed. Heidi had said a lot of roommates barely spent anytime in their rooms since there was so much to do. Maybe he could just keep unpacking until Jamie left again? But the boy had originally been settling down to read a magazine. After all, you couldn't climb trees in this weather and that seemed to be his favorite past time. He'd be better off just changing in the bathroom. Digging out his toiletries along with a change of pants, he glanced back at Jamie. "I'm going to go finish changing." He said, not really sure if it was weird to announce it. He took a guess and opened the only other door in room and was relieved to see that it was, in fact, the bathroom. Though it was small with only the barest of windows and he'd really rather not shut himself in there. Steeling himself, he closed the door behind him and quickly set up his toiletries before finishing changing. Jordan hesitated before coming back out. Maybe Jamie was taking the opportunity of his absence to change? Should he wait? But he had no way of know what the other boy was doing. The bathroom was to cramped for him to hesitate to long, however, and he gave an awkward knock on the door before entering the room again. "I'm done if you need it."
