Areli finally felt free. It was the first time in what felt like forever, that she'd shifted int the Arctic Wolf. It had been much too long since she'd transformed. The wind blowing through her fur, bringing tears to her eyes, freed her soul. She had felt so confined, walking at the slow pace of her human form. At night she had felt so restless that she'd sat outside almost everyday, and paced by her window at night. She knew it was rude to howl when people were trying to sleep, but she'd indulged in a few angst filled notes the night before. She knew that she desperately needed to run.
Areli had let her room practically shaking with excitement as she made her way to the trees. Sifting through the trees, she took off at her fastest speed, transforming mid leap over a falling trunk. Her sleek white body could move so much faster than her human form. She swivelled between the trees, barking out happy laughs as she went. There was such a rush at the feeling of the wind, blinding her so much that she had to rely on her other senses. It would have been nice to have sonar like a bat at moments like this, to prohibit her from running into trees. She'd only ever hit one once, but she wasn't willing to take the chance again. She managed to just slide past a tree, the bark scraping her side. Even her fur couldn't protect her from that and she knew that she'd have a red mark when she went back into human form. Great, just what she needed when it was heating up outside. She wouldn't feel right going outside in anything that would show off her new scape. It really shouldn't have been such a big deal, but she felt that it was in any event.
She paused at the edge of a large sturdy tree to catch her breath. Panting, she looked around. There didn't seem to be anyone else outside today, but she couldn't be sure. She waited a few moments for her eyes to dry and clear, allowing her to distinguish the shadows of the forest. There was no one on the ground, but a rustle from above tore her attention upwards. She hesitated for a moment, unsure of what it could be before changing back into her human form, feeling her bones lengthen and stretch her skin, her fur tearing holes in her flesh as it receded and her snout dispearing for her lips and nose to reappear. She cried out, as she always did, at the pain, unsure if it was something she would ever get used to. It took her moment of rest, leaning against the tree, before she looked up again. "Anyone there? she called, hoping that no one came along and saw her talking to a shadow.
