Nickname
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: Junior
Birth date: October 22
Program: Bachelor of Arts
Major:Dance
Major Explanation: Lydia is majoring in dance becuase of the grace her form gives her. She grew up dancing as a child, but always wanted to take her dance farther. The shape lets her leap higher, move faster, and land lighter even in her human body. It also helps her movement as a panther, improving her muscles, mind, and body. She's more flexible in both forms, and has better control over her body, letting her hunt better and dance stronger.

Overall: Lydia has a quick temper which tends to get her into trouble. She follows her heart more often than stopping to use her brain, and has a knack for starting trouble where there needn't be any. Her downfall is and always has been her family, or what's left of it. She's fiercely overprotective of her big brother and little sister. Despite being the middle child, the duty of taking care of them has fallen to her. She's energetic, always ready to jump in on a hunt, a fight, a dance. She's friendly, but is often seemly lost in her own world. She's mysterious, and has some trust issues. She'll tell very few people the truth about herself. She often has problems sitting still, and will dance when she's trying to solve a problem to give her body something to do while her mind works. She doesn't talk much to people she doesn't know, but towards them she falls in the "it's always the quiet ones category." She's witty, quick with comebacks, and those who know her wish that she'd shut up as opposed to those who don't and wish she would talk. She likes old Beatles songs, and singing along to them. People tell her she has a good voice, but she doesn't believe them one bit. She's happy most of the time, and it doesn't take too much to make her smile. A good joke is something she's always in need of, and she's the master of "that's what she said" jokes. She gets pissed off easily by "ignorant idiots who should shut their mouths and read the news" and having to clean up other people's messes. She can't cope with perfectionists, since she hardly cares whether something is perfect, she just wants it done! She writes poetry in her free time, something that just comes to her. She enjoys the thought that she can create something meaningful just out of sheer luck and a single word to spark her muse. She dislikes dentists trips, and the strange looks she gets among the human public. She'd blend perfectly if she tried, but she prefers to stand out just a bit. Her friends have gotten used to her sneaking up behind them and trying to surprise them, in an endless game of "who eats who." She's endlessly memorizing quotes she enjoys, as a bit of OCD. Her favorite is one she read in a book when she was only thirteen, "Does the walker choose the path, or does the path choose the walker?"
...appearance
x x
Celebrity Play By: Lily Alen
Appearance: Lydia stands tall at 5' 7" with green eyes and mahogany colored curly hair. Her hair is somewhat unruly, but most of the time she manages to tame it by brushing back into a ponytail. On fancy occasions she leaves it down, just pinned back. Her ears are pierced twice on both sides, and she has a small nose piercing on the left side. In her panther form these are five white dots, nothing more. She likes wearing bright colors, though all of her outfits somehow include black, to match her fur. Most of the time she wears jeans, though in summer she can be found wearing shorts and the occasional skirt. In winter she'll wear t shirts and hoodies or vests. The rest of the year she'll wear halter or tank tops along with the sweatshirts. Despite being healthy and extremely fit, she likes wearing baggy sweaters and t-shirts. As far as makeup goes, she usually just wears clear lip gloss and green eyeshadow to highlight the green in her eyes. She has natural long thick lashes, so she doesn't bother with mascara. For fancy occasions she'll wear blush. When she has to dress up, she'll wear a dress, something fancy. Her parents are wealthy, so they send some spending money to her at the start of each term.
In her panther form, she's a dark shape around six feet long counting her tail. While her coat is simply a very dark brown, the rosettes that dot her coat are true black, and their insides darker than the outside coat. Her eyes in this form are the same shade of green as they are when she's human. Her coat is a little longer than normal, since her hair as a human is long, giving her a slightly shaggy appearance. A few other strange spots occur on her, for example she has an off white ring around her left front leg- that in her human form is a bracelet she always wears. This off white coloring also occurs in a ring around her neck ending at the nape in a spot that looks sort of like a flying eagle-reminiscent of the metal eagle on the leather cord her big brother gave her on the birthday that she transformed. She's worn it every time she's shifted since, a sort of good luck charm to herself.
...history
Parents: Ryan Tucker and Jade O'Conner
Siblings: Dylan Tucker and Lilly O'Conner
(The boys got the dad's last name, the girls the mom's)
The first twelve years
Lydia was born into a wealthy family in Northern Washington. She had a big brother, Ryan, who was a year older than her, and a little sister, Lilly who was four years younger than her, although they ended up being only a year apart in school. She was always a bit of a misfit in school, going on adventures with her big brother and his friends. The other children didn't get this dark haired girl who spent so much of her time with her older sibling and his what seemed to be almost a cult. She didn't know it, but Ryan's "cult" was a band of the local shapeshifter's children. The children were the daughters and sons of all of their parents friends, and the adults had arranged for the children to go to the same school.
When she was in sixth grade, her brother and his friends, all a year older than Lydia, started acting strangely. She was twelve, and the exiled her. She didn't know that they were trying to protect her. She felt sorely misplaced, and went to her parents for help. They told her that Ryan had gotten into something she couldn't even begin to understand yet, and she took that to mean the "bad things" they told her about at school, Drugs. After all, Ryan had just started junior high school, where they said those things happened. She grew distant from her brother, even afraid of him, and kept her little sister away from him too. Ryan and his friends stayed out after dark, and hardly ever came home before one in the morning. Ryan started eating strangely too, developing a fondness for rare steak. Her parents were treating him as if nothing had gone wrong, despite what they had told Lydia. She had no idea that one year could make all the difference in her too.
Thirteen and The First Change
On the morning of her thirteenth birthday, Ryan came into her room, and shook her awake silently. He handed her something silver dangling on a leather cord. "It's what I hope you'll be," he said, in a voice that clearly stated he doubted that what he wanted would be the outcome. She took it from him, and the moment she touched it the fear of him that had developed in the past year was erased. She got dressed, and went downstairs, new necklace around her neck. She had looked at it in the light in her room, a flying eagle. She found him waiting at the foot of the stairs for her, and he took her hand silently, and led her out the front door into the forest beyond. They lived backed up to local forest land, with a trail leading off into the forest. He lead her down this path, shared only with the neighboring homes. They followed it until it reached its end, at a towering tree, tall enough that she couldn't see the top. She and Ryan sat down underneath it, and he pulled out some cold pop tarts for them to split as breakfast. He seemed to be waiting for something, so she sat their munching poptarts, until she started getting a funny feeling. She was getting dizzy, and all of a sudden her bones hurt, and she was hearing and smelling the forest around her stronger. "Ryan, I'm not feeling too great. Let's head back." He shook his head. "Not yet Lydia, there's something I'm waiting for. It shouldn't be too much longer." And it wasn't.
Lydia started screaming, as she felt a horrible feeling like being crushed. Her bones were growing shorter and longer, wider and thinner. Her body was growing something, fur?, dark and bristly. Her body was falling forward, and as she hit the ground, she noticed that it didn't hurt quite so much to do it as it should. She was seeing things differently, smelling things differently, hearing thing differently. There were footsteps coming down the path, and she tore towards them, leaving her brother behind. She didn't stop to see who it was that she launched on, but she did, and started tearing into them, even though she could hear them screaming. When she finally stopped, she pulled away. The body had stopped screaming, and she could see now that it was the neighbor's cousin. She felt horrible, she had killed a man! Ryan came tearing down the path. "Damnit, I told them I should tell you!" he was muttering under his breath. Then he jumped into the air and forward, and Lydia watched as he changed into a golden and black leopard, the same creature in a different color. She tried to speak, but the Ryan-leopard just shook it's head. "Let's go home." he said, obviously unhappy.
The rest of thirteen passed, uneventfully. She wore the necklace that Ryan gave her every time she was going to shift, and still does to this day. They stayed at home for a while, but during the fall before Lydia turned fourteen, their parents sent them to the Shifter Academy.
The Years In between then and Now
Lydia kept an eye on Lilly every time she went home over a vacation. She was there over a winter break when Lilly shifted for the first time. She had shifted into a shark, and after the break she was sent away to the academy with Ryan and Lydia. The island was the best choice for a girl whose shape depended on water. Lilly began to fight with her sister, and things went bad between them. Ryan remained the connecting thread, bringing together the two sides of an uneasy truce.
...connecting human to animal
Lydia resembles a panther in looks, from her dark hair and cat green eyes, to her slender but sturdy build. She's got the grace of a big cat, incredible reflexes, and has been climbing the huge Washington trees since she was little, something that shouldn't be possible since most have no low hanging branches. She's been dancing since she was four, giving her the grace and smoothness that accompanies the creature she turns into. She's strong, and always had an urge to adventure. The cat form helped this, letting her explore new places.

Please bear in mind that I mostly roleplay equines, so this is a post taken from one of those sites. The character's name is Alcomiztli. He's a bitter horse, jelous of his older, half-sister, who his mother and father seem to pay their attention to rather than him. This is the post from the first time he meets his half-sister, Loreli. His mother, Twilight, and his father, Arion, are also present. To see the whole post, please view avatraiv3.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=train&action=modifypost&thread=8348&post=26703
The chocolate and white Gypsy horse traveled through the area on silent pillars. He was searching, in his eerily silent way, for his father. The father he never wanted, and yet had. His mother followed him, some ways behind. She wasn't the sort he liked to deal with, with her prissy acts and her thoughtful ways. She wasn't short tempered, she wasn't quick to act, she wasn't harsh, she wasn't cold blooded, she wasn't a killer. She wasn't everything that he, her son, was. A shiver ran down Alcomiztli's spine at the thought of his mother. She was just so pure, so good. Away from his father, that was. Around Arion, she was a devil of chocolate and cream. She was the one who had named him as such. The name was something from ancient lore apparently. He hadn't paid too much attention to what she was saying, as he usually didn't when she opened her mouth for a long winded speech. His mother didn't talk much, but when she did, it wasn't, in his opinion, worth listening too. She was a thinker, and a ponderer. His naming had been precise, something she hadn't rushed. They walked on the ice and snow of the north, strolling in the direction that Twilight indicated. She seemed to know where to find the dark king that his father was. And her, his dark queen. Alco could have laughed. She was hardly that, though Arion didn't know it. She had interested him as a sweet and mild mare that had been shunned by Khepri. He let loose a hiss when he scented his father, passing though the training grounds. The stench that mingled with it though, that was what raised his hackles. Loreli. His half-sister, a creature that so thoroughly disgusted him. She took after his father of course, like most creatures of the darkest parts of the North did. She was his pride and joy. He was, as it seemed, a little less fond of Alco. Alco refused to listen to every stupid word his father said, and preferred to challenge him head on when they didn't agree. Arion was always muttering about how they were more alike than they thought, and that he resembled Twilight quite a bit too. Alcomiztli refused to believe it. His was stronger than them both, and didn't need either of them. His father though, it was simply fun to poke and prod at him.
Now Alcomiztli hadn't ever met his half-sister, only listened to Twilight and Arion's hushed conversations about the mare. Loreli was two years his senior, and he was in a sick way, glad to find his sire lurking around with her. She might turn out to be interesting. You might end up liking her you know. She might not turn out to be all that bad. It was that damned voice again! How in the world could it be back again? Hadn't he bound and killed the thing so many months ago? Shut up you stupid thing! She's all my mother and father talk about! Loreli's potential, Loreli's strength, Loreli's promise! Never about me, their son, their better change! I am the heir to my fathers throne, and yet he treats that stupid bitch like she's their world, sun and moon, and I'm just some pine tree. Easy to find, and not really worth all that much unless you can find some way to shape it to your needs and use it as a weapon! Bitter, perhaps, but that way it was for him. His older sister shadowed everything he did, and the dark king and queen would give him no mind. At least not in his presence. They care about you, you know, said the voice with no name, And they would probably take more notice of you if you stopped being so rude and hard to reach around them. You can be cold, dark, and tough sure, but you don't need to be outright rude. A prince can rule through fear, yes, through anger and rudeness, yes though only because of the status he was born with. A true prince, a true leader, a true king! rules through respect, and that you have to gain. Try it, you might like the results. That last piece pushed Alco over the edge, and he shoved the voice out of his mind. He didn't want to listen to the thing tell him what to do. It wasn't his way.
He walked onto the scene, silently followed by his mother. He waited patiently, the tall body of a yearling that's been raised as a weapon tensed and ready. Twilight walked up to the large stallion and near three mare, as she asked for the attack to repeat.
"Wait- I have a better option. Loreli, meet Alcomiztli. Alcomiztli, this is your sister. Arion, it will be better for her to fight someone to whom she might actually react to. I doubt she's trying very hard fighting someone larger, more experienced, stronger, and someone who she's been told not to attack. Let Alco test his strength. He needs to learn too."
The gypsy colt stood, furiously shaking. His mother should know better than this by now.
"Fine Sis, let's see how you handle something truely dangerous. "
The colt threw his head back, and reared up. The chocolate eye was dark and fathomless, and the blue harder to get through than ever. Without any more notice, he charged at his sister, rearing up again as he reached her, over her back, and started the decent back down. If she was smart, she would move before something broke....
