- Swimming [She enjoys warmth, but the cool lapping of water on her, serves to calm her nerves.]
- Climbing Trees [It comes easily, and she enjoys it. Anything to do with nature and she's willing to give it a shot.]

Strengths: (At least 3)
- Acrobatics [With her shifting genes comes the agileness of the creature she can shift into.]
- Toughness [She hardly ever gets sick, as her body already possess a venom deadly enough to kill an elephant, and this fights off most of the illnesses a human can fall prey to.]
- Intelligence [Scarlet has a keen mind that quickly recognizes patterns and easily makes complicated deductions. Her eyesight also allows her to catch things that some people might miss.]
Weaknesses: (At least 3)
- Aggressive [Though she normally avoids confrontations, if you make her mad, she lashes out at you with everything she has.]
- Bitter [Forgiveness is something she knows little of, as her mind is often cold and calculating. Feelings are foreign and she often disregards them. Therefor she holds grudges for an extraordinarily long time.]

Overall: [400 words minimum]
Scarlet is a number of things, and she, as is everyone, a bit complicated. She is hesitant in her mannerisms, and comes across as very shy. Although she prefers to keep to herself a lot of times, she does enjoy intelligent conversation. She doesn't believe in premature judgement of people, and instead takes the time to get to know them to make an accurate assessment of who they are, though she still often times, makes mistakes due to being human. Politeness is something she tries very hard to use in every interaction she has with people she meets, although sarcasm often enters into the equation. With an analytical mind, she often tries to figure out every little thing, so human emotion is a bit of a problem with her. People are fickle and she struggles to understand their changes in behavior, as sometimes it seems contrary to what she originally thought of them. Her demeanor is often cool, and she is forever calculating something, and she often seems more computer than human in the way she associates with others.
The girl has a need to please, and wants to solve everyones problems, but often withdraws from relationships because of a fear of getting attached to anyone. Frustration is a reaction she gets a lot of times, since she often refuses to show any kind of a emotion in response to people. It's not that she doesn't feel anything, it's that she's not sure how to express what she feels, and so chooses to keep it cooped up inside of her. Casual conversation is difficult for her, and she often can't find the words to say, and therefor finding friends is somewhat of a struggle.
Shocking to most people, but she does have a sense of humor, though it often presents itself in the use of sarcasm. Awkwardness is still firmly a part of her personality, as she hasn't quite mastered the ways of communication, which she sees as just another puzzle she has yet to solve. Just like anyone else, Scarlet has a deep desire for friendship and the feeling of belonging. She believes that if she can ever find anyone who can put up with her cold exterior, she'll have a friend for life. Just like any other teenager, she loves to have fun, though often goes the loner route and enjoys such activities by herself, which doesn't aid in the search for friends.
With her senses so acute, she is keenly aware of every minute that passes, and mourns the loss of moments that couldn't been spent in productivity. Because of this belief, she studies hard, however, research is not the only thing she sees as productive. Enjoyment, is something she is strongly for, believing that happiness is key for a person to ever make something important of their lives.
Physically strong, she seems like she can handle anything. However in terms of mind set and mentally, she's broken and just wants to be understood. Shifting is something she struggles with, and the intricacies of her own mind overwhelm her. No matter what, she tries to avoid confrontations with anyone or thing, however, despite her shy nature, if something truly angers her, she is extremely aggressive. With the angry streak, comes an unsurpassed bitterness. She holds grudges for unquestionable amounts of time, and all throughout she remains unforgiving.
Scarlet believes in justice, in black and white, in knowing right from wrong. She hold strongly to the ideal that although people aren't perfect, they can strive to be better. However she questions if she can truly fit into that category. She feels like she's doomed to be whatever instincts drive her to do. In her own mind, she's formed a prison, and that prison guard happens to be the very snake she shifts into.

Celebrity Play By: Jessica Harp
Appearance: [400 words minimum]
Scarlet has average shade blue eyes, that are framed with dark lashes that curl naturally upward. Her eyes have a well proportioned oval shape that stand out from her face. Her light eyebrows arch up, and feather out, and do nothing to draw attention to them. She has a good complexion, with healthy clean skin that has very few, if any blemishes. Her mouth is very light in color, and her teeth are just slightly off of a pure white color. Whenever she smiles, a set of dimples are shown on her cheeks. Her face is thin, and her cheekbones aren't to prominent usually, though her face isn't to angular.
Her face is framed nicely by her long dark hair. She usually keeps it up in a ponytail, as she doesn't want to deal with it much. However, a few strands are usually left loose and they hang around her face. Her hair is a dark coffee colored brown that compliments her blue eyes nicely. Often strands of her hair are flyaway, and rather unkempt looking. She doesn't bother very much with her appearance, as she sees it as a waste of precious time. Her hair hangs down a couple inches past her shoulder, and is usually quite wavy, bordering on curly at times.
Because of her low appetite, Scarlet remains very thin, and has been throughout her entire life. Since she is very active, her body remains in great shape, and most of her muscles are toned, though she isn't overly muscular in any way. On occasion she gets to thin, though she quickly rights this by forcing herself to eat something. Her skin is tan to a degree, since she is often outside when the weather permits.
She remains relatively natural. Unlike most girls her age, she doesn't have any piercings, not even her ears, as she sees it as unnecessary. Likewise, she views makeup as frivolous and therefor refuses to wear it. She also wears very simple things, and prefers a pair of jeans and a t-shirt to a fancy dress.
When in her shift form she retains the look of an average King Cobra. Her base scales are a ruddy brown color that shimmer silver in the light. Her underbelly retains a more white silver appearance though it is actually cream or pale yellow in color, where as the scales adorning her head carry a golden hue. With beady black eyes, that catch the slightest movement, with deadly accuracy. When feeling the need, the has the ability to expand her hood, which underside has smokey black scales and gold circles on it.
The scales are smooth and better reflect the light cast on them. Her head is rather massive, as she shifts into the body of an adult female King Cobra. Like all snakes, she has the ability to unhinge her jaw, in order to consume a larger animal. In the front of her mouth, is two hollow fangs that channel the deadly poison that is associated with the species of snake. Transforming into a female King Cobra, she is smaller than the males of that same type of snake, but she is still large, around 12 1/2 feet in length. When feeling the need, she has the ability to draw herself up to the height of an average person standing.[/size]
...history
Parents: Alex Jensen [father/siberian tiger shift] and Diane Lively [mother/Snowshoe hare shift]
Siblings: Justin Rod Jensen[JJ/brother/6 years old/unknown shift]
[400 words minimum]
Scarlet's story doesn't start with her birth. It all starts with a long line of shifters, which eventually led to one couple. Alex Jensen and Diane Lively were engaged, and already they were making plans for how to go about the situation of a family. They wanted children, however, they knew what kind of life a shifter child would have, and they didn't want to make another person go through what they had lived through; especially of child of theirs. They were ready to deal with anything that came their way, but they didn't want to create unnecessary complications. So, they opted to adopt, and simply not have children the normal way.
Contrary to their well thought out plans, life has a funny sense of humor. Soon enough, Diane found out she was pregnant. They were both terrified. Although shifting is genetic, the animal the child shifts into had never been something that could be predicted. It seemed almost like through the birth of one child, you got two, just one happened to be that of an animal. The animal was usually fitted perfectly to the personality of the child. They prayed and hoped desperately for an easy shift, one that wouldn't cause anyone harm. Maybe a small cat, or an insect, something that couldn't dramatically injure anyone; especially during the trying first shift when the child turned thirteen.
The couple waited with bated breath during the pregnancy. A moment of relief came when they found out it was a girl. In their family, the girls had the more passive animal forms, and so they were caught up in it all, thinking this little girl would follow the long line of those before her. She came, and their worries passed. They named her Nadia, which stood for hope. She was like most other children, though she had a few odd quirks. She was always competitive, and she excelled in physical activities, always beating those her age, even the boys. She was also a little shy, and preferred to be in the quiet. This was natural though, so they took no notice.
At the age of twelve, she started having problems with eating. She was never hungry and preferred to be outside. The doctors feared she would become anorexic, so they took to force feeding her. Nadia was stubborn throughout it all, but eventually she gave into the desires of her parents. The next year passed with agonizing slowness, the household waiting to see what would happen. Through the year, she rapidly advanced in her classes, and her features took on a more angular appearance. She spent more of her time outside, studying the ground, the trees, the sights.
Her thirteenth birthday came, and passed without incident, and the family was left in confusion. Wondering why she hadn't shifted yet. They wondered briefly if the gene, stretched out for so long, could finally vanish, on down the line of descendants. However, a week after her birthday, the dreaded time came.
Nadia was out playing with her closest friend, a boy her age, Kevin. Her vision blacked for a moment, and she crumpled to the ground. In the background she could hear the gentle whisper of her friend, his hand on her shoulder, shaking her, trying to get her to come to. Bones popped, and she felt her tongue split near the tip. A feeling of vertigo overwhelmed her; a feeling that she was shrinking. All of this happened in a couple minutes. A sharp pain pulsed through her body and she could no long move her fingers, it was as if she didn't have hands at all. Her senses shifted, twisted, and formed in ways she couldn't comprehend. Everything that she was used to, was different. Sharp teeth stabbed her lip, until her fast twisted in uncommon proportions.
She fluttered her eyes open, and caught the terrified face of her friend, a few feet away. Fear caused her to twist her body, curling up, before rising, swaying slightly in confusion. A hiss erupted from her mouth and before she knew what was happening, instinct took control of her. Her hood spread out and she uttered a threatening hiss, exposing her fangs. She lunged.
That was the last thing she could remember. She woke up a time later, in the hospital, her parents crowded by her bed. She could hear them whispering. "A snake?" "How can she be a snake, there's never been a reptile shifter in the family…" An oppressive confusion clouded her mind, but she allowed herself to force open her eyes.
The next hour they tried to explain everything. Her whole life, how everything went terribly wrong. How none of this was supposed to happen. The one question they wouldn't answer, ravaged her mind. What happened to Kevin? Days later, when they finally allowed her out of the hospital. Nadia got her answer. Kevin was dead. The snake's venom was so potent, that it easily killed the young boy. For weeks she refused to cry, analyzing everything that had happened. Her history, the cause of what all had taken place. She was the reason, she was the one at fault. If she had been able to control herself; if only she had known.
When she finally left the confines of her bedroom, she was sullen. No emotion was shown in her actions, but she harbored a deep bitterness towards her parents. She vowed to herself, that she would never forgive them for letting this happen. With a cold heart she told them that she never wanted to be known as Nadia again, from this point on she said that she was to be called by her middle name, Scarlet; in memory of the innocent blood that had been shed because of the abomination she was.
The days and weeks went by slowly, but finally she was fifteen. Scarlet had found her passion, her motivation was Kevin. She was determined to devote her life to helping people; using her sharp reptilian mind to note the patterns that would help solve the attacks or deaths of people. She was going to be a Forensic Scientist, anything to stop this aching pain that others might be feeling.
Slowly shifting got easier for her, but she still struggled with the instincts of fear and rage that coursed through her poisonous veins. Her parents, forever refusing to tell her what their shift form was, couldn't deal with the shift that their daughter was. They heard of an academy, a school, if you will, that they could enroll her in. It was safe; and perhaps, she would finally find a place she truly belong, and stop blaming herself for the outcome of her first shift.
...connecting human to animal
[One Paragraph Minimum (Can be point form)]
- Scarlet is very perceptive and can pick up on the reaction of others quickly; the King Cobra uses its sensory receptors to gauge the reaction of it's prey.
- Her eyesight is very keen as is that of her animal.
- She is agile and quick with an impressive reflexive movement time because of the King Cobra instincts.
- A King Cobra is fiercely protective, and Scarlet is exactly the same way.
- She enjoys being outside during daylight hours, but prefers not to stay up late at night; King Cobras are classified as diurnal.
- Like the animal she shifts into, she is shy and prefers to avoid confrontations. However, if you mess with her, just like the snake, she is quite aggressive, and has the bite to match her bark.
- Because of her shift animal's poisonous nature, Scarlet hardly ever falls ill. Though the occasional illness does occur.

Scarlet was a realist; she knew life wasn't perfect, and things didn't work out like they did in a fairy tale. She just wanted to know why she was dealt this horrible life. Taking a deep breath, she squeezed her eyes shut, letting her skin soak up the sun's warm rays. All she wanted, was to live a normal life. One free of snakes, venom, blood and death. Every couple minutes she caught herself, sliding her tongue across her front teeth, expecting a twinge of pain when she hit the sharp tip of a fang. Of course, nothing came. She hadn't shifted into the dreaded King Cobra that always haunted her in the back of her mind. She curled her hands into fists, allowing her nails to bite into the palm of her hands. She didn't cut, she wasn't suicidal in the least, she just wanted to get rid of the cursed feeling of scales that crawled across her skin at every waking moment. Every time she spoke, she cringed as an 's' slipped off her tongue, as she could almost hear the sinister hiss of her worst nightmare.
With an annoyed sigh, she straightened her torso, staring up at the sun in defiance. Within a few seconds, deflated of any kind of resistance, she looked away, the light to bright to focus on for very long. The sound of giggles drifted to her ears; she shifted away, wanting the girls standing a few feet away to just leave. Every few seconds they would glance over at her, the subtle shifting of their feet, the position of their bodies, the messages their eyes conveyed; Scarlet knew what they were saying. They were just like everybody else, judging her, thinking they knew everything there was to know. Hah! They didn't know a thing. In a normal mind set, she would've walked away, she didn't like fights, they were pointless. Yet, rage boiled her poisoned blood, and she yearned to let herself shift into something that would send those teenage girls running in fear.
She yanked herself away. No. It wasn't right. Just because they were oblivious and ignorant, that didn't give her the right to do anything to them. Forcing the anger to fade, she got up, walking away from them. Every step was torture, and she forced herself to continue at a steady pace. The warm breeze caused her flyaway strands of hair to tickle her face, and she brushed them away with a quick, sharp movement of her hand. She was tired of this day, this life. Glancing back briefly, she said farewell, to this place, this home she had always known. Her parents had decided life here wasn't good for her, but she knew they were just sending her away, to protect their new adopted son. Their favorite. She seethed at the thought, but then calmed when she remembered his adorable trusting face, tugging on her hand. Yes, maybe they were right, maybe going away… was for the best.[/b][/i][/size]
