As far as how his Major relates to his Animal, cats often tend to want to cuddle, make things better for people. Becoming a Lawyer, Jacob would have the chance to help people... not by cuddling, of course, but by other means. Also, a cat has an insane curiosity, and the same can be said for Jacob. It takes a curious person to make a good lawyer.

Overall:
Jake Kelley is a good guy through and through, with his fair share of troubles masking his past and a few scratches along the way. No matter what however, this young man always held his head up high and made the best of everything, always keeping a smile on his face, no matter how fake it may get. Positive. That is definitely one word that will fallow Jake around for life. Other words would be: Studious, Perfectionist as well as Confident in his work. He is a very intelligent guy who will spend nights on end working on projects and making sure his work is the best it can be. He's the type that could easily be referred to as a nerd, but he never did care what others thought of him, not really. He always had very high marks, and people always seemed to come to him for help academic-wise.
Speaking of help, Jake never says 'no' when somebody comes to him, whether it may be for an essay for a class or a personal problem with a jealous ex-boyfriend or a drug problem. This may be considered as a flaw, but Jake doesn't think so. He's 100% there for you through thick and thin, especially if you are his friend. Maybe it's just his pick-headedness, but he will never back down no matter how crazy things may get. Then again, maybe it's simply because of his own past or because of his cat-like personality and the fact that he doesn't like seeing people suffer. He will help you with your problem no matter how tough it can be for him or how much trouble he could potentially get in. As long as he knows it's the right thing to do.
Stubborn, somewhat reserved when it comes to talking about himself and easily temperamental, those are Jake's least favorite qualities. When he chooses to do something, whether it's good or not so good, he will not budge. He has a thick skull, and although he's great at reading people, it's hard for things to get through to him. It's his way or the highway, and in a way, this does make him a good leader. He won't change his mind because of what other people think. Finally, Jake doesn't like to talk about himself. He may be out-going, humorous and charming, but when it gets personal, he'll back away a few paces where he's most comfortable. He also gets angry easily.

...appearance

Celebrity Play By: David Henrie
Appearance:
Jake has untidy black hair, usually kept semi-long and spiky. In general, his hair is usually the way it was when he woke up. As much a perfectionist as he may be when it comes to his work, his physical appearance really doesn't bother him. Fortunately his hair has never quite been a problem to him, always working in his favor. As for his eyes, they are a dull yet nice shade of dark gray – they can sometimes appear somewhat green-brown or somewhat blue depending on the lighting and the colors around him – with little to no emotion in them most of the time. He also sports contacts, due to the fact that, in his Human form, he is farsighted. Sometimes but very rarely, you will see him wearing a pair of rectangular-shaped, black-rimmed glasses, thus meaning he either doesn't feel like wearing contacts or he has lost them, which for some reason tend to happen often.
His wardrobe was never the most fancy when he was young, and at this point, things haven't changed. His casual attire usually consists of jeans or sweats, most often than not hanging limply on his waist, supported with a belt. In the warmer days, he will be found wearing swim trunks or regular shorts, but only when the temperature is at its highest. If he won't die because of the heat, you'll find him in pants. His jeans sometimes have holes in them, but most do not. As far as shirts go, they vary a lot more than what covers the lower part of his body. From plain muscle shirts to sweatshirts, he likes a lot of things. His favorite colors are red, blue and black/gray/white when it comes to his shirts, which means you'll often find him wearing those. Finally, he also likes plaid button-down shirts.
Hats, and other accessories are somewhat his thing. He does like sporting hats now and then, but to be honest he'd rather not have too much clothes on him for when he has to shift. Shifting into a cat, which is smaller than his usual 6,1ft, 171lbs build, they won't necessarily get torn – at least not too much – but it is somewhat of an annoyance to have to go back for your clothes whenever you return into Human form. As far as necklaces and bracelets are concerned, usually he will wear a shark-fang necklace, but as far as bracelets go he will wear none. When expecting to shift in the near future, he will try to wear the least amount of clothing possible – honestly, he doesn't mind just how much skin he is revealing, but knows some people do.
As far as his animal as concerned, Jake shifts into a domestic black cat, somewhat on the larger side, with muscles that match his athletic figure while in Human form. To be exact, he will weigh 10 lbs (He has little fat, mostly it's muscles, bones and flesh) and measure 9 inches in height and 18 inches in head/body length. His tail is exactly 11 inches in length and a tiny bit fluffy compared to the rest of his body, which is covered in thick, somewhat short, fur. The only marking on his dark body is a sock-like mark on his left hind leg, which stops a little before the ankle. It's a light gray color, not entirely white but definitely close to it.

Martin Kelley and Cameron Jacobs were High School sweethearts, both living normal teenage lives. Marin was the basketball star and prom king of the very large High School in Seattle, while Cameron was the head cheerleader and prom queen. It seems quite perfect, doesn't it? Like every movie? Well, it is. Or at least it was, until Cameron, two weeks before the summer ended and she was to start her Senior year, discovered she was Pregnant. At first she believed Martin would be thrilled to have a child, but one night a week later when he told her about his plans for them – plans that did not include a child – she found out that maybe he wasn't father material. Unsure whether she wanted to be a mother herself, the consideration of abortion lingered.
Two months into her pregnancy and still undecided as to what she wanted to do, she began to show slightly and so she decided to tell her mother, something she'd been terrified to do – you see, her family had been pretty old-fashioned and had views of only making love after marriage. Her parents were shocked, but knew how to help her, and so when the nine months were up, Martin was by his fiancee's bedside holding a healthy baby boy. They would be getting married as soon as graduation came along and then move into a house together with their Jacob Travis Kelley. Life may have seemed rough during the Pregnancy, but it was only going to get worse as the years went on.
Jacob, known as Jake to most, was growing too fast for his parents to keep up. His father's dream of becoming a basketball player, as well as his mother's dream to become a surgeon were quickly pushed aside as they both bounced from job to job, fighting to make ends meet. Martin's parents, both being quite wealthy, often gave them checks, but eventually the young couple began denying them, wanting to be independent. When Jake was six years old, things fell apart. Not only had Cameron been hiding a special gift for the past ten years, her husband had to find out one night when she got angry with him for forgetting to pick up their son from the daycare. It didn't take two months for the papers to be filed and for the divorce to be final.
Because of Martin's lack of steady job – Cameron had managed to attend College for four years and had recently celebrated her first year anniversary as a High School teacher – Cameron received full custody of her son, no matter how much Martin protested that she was a dangerous freak. Maybe that also made it hard for the judge to hand the young boy into Martin's care – it wasn't exactly normal to claim that a woman could turn into a panther and that she could kill her son. Cameron and Jacob both decided to move as far from Seattle as possible, and by the time Jacob was seven, he had been living in Miami for a few months now.
It was definitely a change for him, especially when his mother also started dating a man named Lucas. At first, Jacob wasn't quite sure what to make of him, but as time went on, Jacob learned to love him as if he was his own father. Not having been in contact with Martin in over two years now, he was quite grateful when Lucas proposed to his mother, and from then on began calling Lucas Hale 'dad'. Now ten years old, the young boy's personality was beginning to form, stabilize. He had always been a friendly, ambitious one, with a curiosity and determination to learn anything and everything. He had also been mostly reserved, but it had never been quite a concern. He was a straight A student with a love of Basketball, jogging and occasionally dirt biking.
Having lived in Miami for a while though, it was somewhat strange that he disliked water so much... Just like his mother. For a few months now, ever since noticing the fact that he never went swimming during the summer of his eleventh year, she had begun to wonder if he was like her or not. One warm December night in Miami, quite close to Christmas, she admitted to her Husband that she was a Shape-shifter, and his reply was one of understanding and somewhat of a smug look. Definitely not Martin's reaction. “I know, I saw you shift before.” he added when she gave him a curious look. It turned out, he had known even before they had gotten married all those years ago.
At the age of twelve, Jake found out his mother was pregnant again, and that he would soon be a big brother. He was quite excited, yet still somewhat jealous. He wouldn't be an only child anymore, and his parents wouldn't have as much time for him. When Kristopher was born a few months later however, all of those thoughts were pushed aside. He loved his brother, and his parents did not stop loving him because Kris had entered their lives. Besides, he found out quite soon enough that he had his own things to deal with, something that changed him quite a lot.
Six months after his brother was born, a little before turning thirteen, Jake learned of his shifting ability. Of course he'd known about his mother's ability for years now – he couldn't remember when exactly she'd told him, so he assumed he had always known – but it was fascinating to know that he could shift also. It had happened one night after coming home late from a basketball practice at school. It had started to get dark when Jake noticed he was being fallowed. Somewhat frightened, he quickened his pace, only to feel hands on him, nails digging into his shoulders. He yelled and fought back, but the next thing he remembered was pain deep in his core, pain that didn't come from the mugger.
He had shifted into a rather large black cat – not as big as his mother's form, but a large domestic black cat, rather – and had, after scratching and biting the mugger a few times, scared him off. For a few hours he wandered around the streets in his animal form, both enjoying it as well as wondering just how to change back. He would have gone back home to get his mother's help, but he wasn't entirely sure whether or not she would have figured out who the cat was exactly. Eventually he did return home, and for the next year and a half, life went on without too much disturbance.
Now fourteen, the shifter was beginning to think of a future for himself. Wanting to make a difference in other people's lives and knowing just how much he disliked injustice, it was evident that he would somehow be involved in the law department. Lawyer, police officer, perhaps even in the Military somehow? He also had to think of High School in less than a year's time, something else that was a priority in his young teenage mind. A few members of his mother's side of the family had attended a school on an Island near Hawaii, and his mother had often suggested this for her son, although he wasn't all too keen on the idea; nor was Lucas.
One July evening, two months before he was to start at the nearest High School in his neighborhood, his biological father decided to make an appearance, bringing along a revolver. That night things changed dramatically for the young teen. His father shot his mother, and would have shot him, Lucas and Kristopher, but the authorities came in the house at just the right moment – at least to save the three boys. Mrs Cameron Jacobs-Kelley-Hale was dead. Because of that night, Lucas and Jake decided it would be best for him if he was to go to this Shifter school – just to be safe. Plus, it was what his mother would want.
A year has come and gone since his mother's murder and now sixteen, Jacob Travis Kelley, known as Jake to most, is living in his Dorm at Shifter's Academy, enjoying the summer holidays on the Island before having to study in his Sophomore year. He now has a dream of becoming a lawyer and helping people through rough times, and also resents his biological father for what he did. He's in contact with Lucas and Kristopher as much as possible, via E-mail, phone calls, etc. Life isn't great, but it's better than it had been a mere year before, and Jacob has Shifter Academy to thank for that.
...connecting human to animal
Curious, intelligent and caring, those are all attributes that usually go to a cat. Jacob definitely has those, along with a desire to help people and make things right. He's loyal, determined and is definitely a night person – as is a cat. He was always a fast runner with good reflexes and agility, and for years before developing his shifting ability, disliked water. Finally, his mother had the ability to shift as a Panther, which is somewhat similar to Jacob's domestic black cat. His mother's side of the family are known for the many cats over the generations.

It was half past nine in the evening and for the previous two hours a young man had been imprisoned by his own parents. The thing is, he wasn't one who enjoyed it very much when he had to stay put for a very long period of time. To be quite honest, he wasn't one that liked staying put at all. He was made to move, and move fast. He needed adventure, he needed to know that he was free. At this point, he definitely was not. He was sitting on the small seat below the hotel room window, watching restlessly as the cars went by. He could see the people (People who weren't held up in a hotel room against their will) moving about down below, living their busy New York lives. Were they taunting him?
It was safe to say that Jesse Sawyer Shepherd wanted out. He had arrived in New York a mere three hours before, and had since been with his parents. They wouldn't let him out of their sight for even a fraction of a second! He was the Speedman for crying out loud! He could very well escape their grasp if he wanted to, right? Well, he had tried... more than once. So far, his attempts had been a failure. Having known about his Mutant powers for a while now, his parents were always prepared for a speedy exit. They had learned from their past failures and could now detect just when their son planned on speeding away. They had created some ways to suppress him, to stop him for doing what it was he wanted to do.
Well, there was one thing he hadn't tried yet. There was a ledge on the other side of the window. A window that could open and close. With the bit of hope implanted in his head, Sawyer sneakily glanced back at his parents, both of which were busy watching television. That would give him somewhat of a head start. Odds were, they would find out he'd left a mere second after he'd actually done the act... He could only run at about a hundred miles per hour or so. He wasn't entirely invincible. At this particular point though, he believed he was. And so, he slid open the window a few inches, enough so that he could slip through, and then was off.
Jumping first on the ledge, then on the balcony a story below, Sawyer continued to jump, twist and run for approximately five minutes. When he finally looked back, now a safe distance away, he realized he'd done it. His parents didn't appear to be about to chase him, but then again, maybe they'd just realized he wanted to explore a little before being bound down by rules at Xavier's tomorrow. Not that he'd be obeying those rules at that Freak Boarding School though. He was Sawyer, he never obeyed rules. Triumphantly, the young Mutant started to run. Running as fast as he could had always been a habit of his.
He knew very well that it could be dangerous, especially on the streets of such a big, busy city. You see, as he ran, his eyesight was greatly affected. His senses couldn't keep up with the speed he ran at. Everything was blurred and he could only hear the wind in his ears, as well as, perhaps, the faint sound of sirens and honking cars. With a year and a half's worth of experience however, he had learned to cope with that. He had no superhuman sensing abilities, but he was good at avoiding people, cars and anything that could endanger him. Or so he thought, because the next thing he knew, he'd slammed into... something. Well, someone... sort of.
Now sprawled on the ground, he couldn't help but feel a little angry. He knew it was his fault, and not the other Mutant's, but he did not care. "Sorry." he muttered, although it was evident he did not mean it.
