All That I’m After is a Life Full of Laughter . That was one of her favorite shirts, it fit just right. But a stain ruined that shirt, especially since it was white. She had taken it off while she was walking, and dumped it in a trashcan on some random street. She was mad; to say the least…she was actually more ticked off than mad. That girl had reacted rudely to a simple mistake. Sophia couldn’t help but smile (in an evil way) as she remembered making fun of the girl with a stupid name she couldn’t even remember now. She was mean sometimes, but no one ever tried to reach the nice, kind, loving Sophia under all of the mean anyway. She kept walking, her hat in one hand, and the umbrella in the other. She couldn’t remember why she had thrown the umbrella at the girl in the first place…had she really thought she could have hit her? She had almost hit the girl…but she was extremely fast, especially considering what she had ordered at the café. Sophia couldn’t help but slightly drag her feet as she walked, she didn’t want to go home…but there was nowhere else she could go. It was too rainy to go to the beach, too rainy to ride Little Bit (the horse she took care of), and it was too rainy to really do anything. She kicked the sidewalk under her, but kept walking as the rain came down harder. Sophia had planned to just go back to where she had been sitting, or go home, but when she passed the old, empty, abandoned house…she couldn’t help but stop. She walked up to the house, ran her hand along the railing, the windowsill, the half-way gone door. She felt her expression change…and she couldn’t explain what it changed to, it was a mix of sadness, disgust, and regret. She went to the tire swing, sat down, and felt the texture of the tire against her legs and arms as she fit through the opening. She bounced a little to check the structure of it, and dropped her hat and the umbrella onto the ground beneath her. She pumped her legs back and forth, letting her hair move freely; her bare stomach got soaked from the rain that could still reach her, even though she had protection from the branches above her. She didn’t mind the rain that much; actually…she usually loved the rain. She felt her eyes change to the brightest, most crystal-looking blue they had ever been. When they changed to that color, it meant she was truly happy (or thinking of something that made her happy). She smiled, a real smile, as she swung herself higher and higher. She let the rain drops that wanted to fall on her fall on her, the ones that didn’t she simply looked at, admiring how they reflected the light. She loved nature, she loved the world, she loved so many things; she really wasn’t a bad person…not at heart. She slightly laughed as she swung even higher, and felt the wind whoosh past her skin. x E.T. sighed and closed his eyes. He'd just gotten situated in his new apartment, and Marissa had gone off to who knows where, the place where Melany was, but she didn't tell him exactly. It bothered him, as much as he hated to admit it, but it did. Opening his eyes again, he took in everything around him. There wasn't much, just a few suitcases, Melany's surf board and his guitar. The place was bare, nothing that said someone lived here at all, no paint, no distinguishing characteristics. For now, it was just a place to live, and E.T. wondered how expensive paint would be. Standing up, he grabbed his wallet and put on his shoes, deciding he'd go check some out; the white walls were too sterile, too blank.
He fingered the pockets of his jeans as he walked, and realized that he hadn't taken his iPod touch out of them after the plane ride. Taking it out, he unwrapped the ear buds and put them in, setting the device for shuffle. E.T. walked to the hardware store, and by the time he got there, he'd listened to about five Eminem songs in a row. As he bought some paint, he didn't really care what color, he hummed along to “I Love the Way You Lie,” not caring that he was getting looks from the people in the store. E.T. gave them a look back, and proceeded to pay for his paint. That done, E.T. remembered the mall incident with a smirk, and walked out of the store, paint can in hand.
What was with all the Eminem songs? he wondered to himself, and took the iPod out of his pocket again desperate to change the song to anything else, but before he could do that, his eyes caught the girl across the street.
His heart immediately hoped it was Melany, but when it wasn't, he had to admit he was a little disappointed, but it was someone to talk to, at least. He turned off his iPod, and took the ear buds out, and walked over to the girl. She was on a swing, and she looked really happy. Her eyes were blue, and with a twinge in his heart, he was reminded of Melany. He tried to get her out of his mind though, and continued walking towards her.
“Hey,” he said, with a slight grin on his face, looking like what most girls would call a heart throb, what with his deep green eyes. “I'm Eli,” he introduced himself, chopping off the last three letters of his first name. Eli sounded cooler than Elizer, more macho, and of course he had to maintain that. Tag: Sophia. Word count: 451. Notes: Not my best, but it's a reply! And E.T.'s premier post! Clothes: Here..

All That I’m After is a Life Full of Laughter Sophia practically jumped when she heard a voice behind her; she hadn’t been paying enough attention to notice the guy who was standing behind her. She stopped swinging, dropped her smile, and climbed out of the tire swing. She picked up her hat, and placed it on her head, not wanting it to blow away. She put on a flirty smile, but not her full-on flirtatious smile. “I’m Sophia,” She looked the guy up and down, she hadn’t seen him before, and he was cute…at least he was cute enough for her.
She studied him. He had deep green eyes, and short hair. She couldn’t help, but smile just a little more. She hadn’t seen him before, no, but she wanted to see him again.
“I haven’t seen you around, what’d you say your name was again?” She slightly twirled her hair, ready to have some fun.

x The girl almost jumped at his voice, and E.T. felt bad about that, but hey, it got her to notice him and leave her position on the tire swing. He smiled a little at the thing, it'd been years since he'd been on a tire swing, not that he felt any real desire to change that status yet.
“I'm Sophia,” the girl said, and as she looked him up and down, E.T., Eli to her, flashed her a grin. His first day on the island, and he'd already met a cute girl. Hey, just because he liked Melany didn't mean that he couldn't date, he'd done it before. “I haven't seen you around, what'd you say your name was again?” she added, with a twirl of her hair, and Eli felt his eyes brighten as he flashed her another grin.
The paint can was heavy in his hand, and he set it down, then turned his attention back to this girl, this Sophia, with a lopsided grin on his face. He couldn't help it, he thought she was cute, and she was. Plus, he was a teenage guy, what was he supposed to think? He felt his eyes looking deep into hers, and he hoped it didn't look creepy. He supposed that he'd rather be seen as creepy for looking at her eyes, than be seen as a perv for looking...elsewhere.
“Eli,” he replied to her question. “Eli Matthews, if you're talking about first and last names.” Minus one hundred points for that one, he thought to himself. God, could he have been anymore dorky? Eli wasn't normally like that, he was usually cool and collected, maintaining his jerk facade had taught him how to control his temper, control that and anything that didn't fall under his facade. He wasn't always a jerk though, he could be polite when he wanted to. He shook it off internally, putting it behind him.
“And yeah, I'm new to the island, just moved here,” he told her, with another slight smile, his eyes making contact with hers. He was glad Marissa wasn't around, she was like his mom, and he wondered if she'd approve, though, he wasn't sure if she knew about his feelings for Melany, so it didn't really matter. Nothing really mattered now except Marissa and Melany. He sure didn't care about his biological parents; he fought his body as it naturally wanted to stiffen at the thought of them, bastards that they were. But where did this girl lie? He wasn't sure, having just met her, but he hoped that she would be someone worthwhile to talk to. Tag: Sophia. Word count: 443. Notes: Sorry for the shortness... Dx Clothes: Here.

All That I’m After is a Life Full of Laughter Sophia let out a little giggle, trying to ignore how stupid Eli ( Eli Matthews, Sophia thought) had sounded. But…he was cute, and that made up for how stupid he sounded, at least in Sophia’s eyes it did. She stopped twirling her hair and decided to put on her “full on” flirty smile. “And yeah, I'm new to the island, just moved here.” She looked into his eyes, they were the prettiest shade of green, and she could feel hers changing to almost the same exact shade as she thought of what to do next. He didn’t really give her much to go off of, and she wasn’t good at starting a conversation…that is unless she was being a bitch.
“Oh yeah? Where did you move from?” Sophia was trying to make conversation, she thought this guy was cute…but she wanted to make sure he wasn’t some creep before she actually started to like him.
She turned around, and got her umbrella, trying to think of something to do. She looked at the old abandoned house, and saw that there was a porch swing. She looked back at Eli over her shoulder through her eyelashes, a trick she had learned from watching her mom. When she did that…most guys practically melted. But, not all did. She gave him a “come on” look, and walked toward the porch swing.
As she moved from the protection of the giant tree branches, she noticed that it was actually pouring, and not just drizzling like it had been. Once she stepped out from under the branches she felt the rain begin to coat her. And, without thinking, she turned her head slightly toward the sky. She loved the feeling of rain on her skin, but she would never admit it. She realized what she was doing and quickly resumed walking toward the old abandoned house.
She hoped Eli hadn’t seen her, she may like flirting with the guy, but she didn’t want him to know who she really was. She had an act for a reason; she pretended to keep people at a distance. Hardly anyone knew the real Sophia. Most people, who thought they knew her, didn’t.
Sophia felt her eyes change to a darker green, and she couldn’t remember the last time they had looked like that. She could feel them shining as she got closer to the porch swing, she fought herself to change them back to a brighter green. To her flirty green she liked them to be.
She stepped onto the ancient porch, and it creaked slightly under her weight, not used to people. She ran her hand along the railing around the porch; she didn’t understand why no one lived there. She hated to see things run down like this…especially such a pretty porch.
She made her way to the swing, and sat, testing the structure of it. When she was sure it wasn’t going to break, she slowly swung back and forth. Waiting for Eli to say or do something.

x Eli watched Sophia’s eyes change, and he wondered if they were close to the same shade of green his were. He slowly started to fall in love with her eyes, and ignored the small voice inside his head that kept screaming about Melany.
“Oh yeah? Where’d you move from?” said Sophia, as she flashed him a smile.
Eli smiled back, “Cali,” he hesitated not wanting to say something that would make him look stupid, “my parents kicked me out so I decided to try the waves here instead,” he lied smoothly, and hoped he would be able to remember what he had said. After all, he couldn't say the real reason he had moved.
Sophia turned and picked up her umbrella, Eli stood there, not sure what to say. It was not until he saw her turn around and look at him that he knew she wanted him to follow her. His eyes locked with hers for a solid moment, and that moment, to him, seemed to last forever. He did not know what had just happened, but he picked up his can of paint, and without further hesitation, followed the girl he just met towards the old looking house. He watched Sophia as she stopped and turned her head up toward the sky. He stopped to, and wondered why she had done that. He thought for a moment, not able to realize what she was doing. He blinked when he finally saw that she was feeling the rain. He saw a smile play across her face, and he felt…awkward. As if, he was not supposed to have seen, that. It was a feeling that gave him an uncomfortable gut feeling. He felt as if he was peeking in to part of Sophia, a part that she did not want people to know about, like he had just witnessed something extremely personal and private.
In the instant he had all of those thoughts Sophia must have remember that she wasn’t alone anymore, because she walked toward the old house again, but her body posture was slightly different than before. It seemed, to Eli, a little bit more defensive.
He continued to follow Sophia, and he jogged a little to close the five feet distance between them. He heard the porch creak when Sophia stepped onto it. It was a creak that told of its old age and grandeur. He watched her run her hand along the railing, and he felt the same awkward he had before. However, he was getting more used to the way Sophia seemed to appreciate things other people did not, like the rain, and like the old house. He did not mention it though, because, for some reason, he knew he shouldn’t. He heard the porch creak as he walked over to the swing that Sophia had sat down on and had started to move back and forth.
He noticed when he got closer that Sophia’s eyes had changed from the bright green they were to a dark green that seemed almost hazel. They were still pretty, and Eli still stared at them, but they had changed and they suddenly reminded Eli of Melany’s eyes. He shook his head slightly and quieted the little voice in the back of his head. He decided to focus on what was happening in that moment, he was going to focus on Sophia, that old house and the porch swing. He did not think about Melany-- on purpose.
He walked behind the swing and pushed it for Sophia, he decided that he liked her, and he wanted to see her again. He continued to push her back and forth on the swing in silence. He was content with watching the rain fall onto the tree leaves, but he figured Sophia would get bored soon.
“So…tell me about you,” he began. He combed his fingers through his hair, thinking of something more specific to say. “Uh…have you always lived here? We can start there,” he smiled, and his eyes twinkled. He kept pushing her back and forth, and waited for her to reply.

All That I’m After is a Life Full of Laughter Eli said and pulled Sophia from her thoughts, ““Uh…have you always lived here? We can start there.” Sophia looked up at Eli, and she noticed he was smiling at her. She swore she saw his eyes twinkle, as if he really cared about what she was going to say, that he was truly interested. She looked into his green eyes, and made sure her eyes were smoldering at him “No, I haven’t always lived here,” she began, making sure her voice sounded flirty, but still sincere. “I used to live in Illinois, Chicago actually,” Sophia smiled, remembering a simpler time, a simpler place. “We moved here when I was…about 6, if not already 6, I think. Me and my mother don’t live that far from here actually,” Sophia tried to give information about herself, but not too much information. “We’ve moved around this island a lot though, I’ve been to four different school districts since I moved here, Mom couldn’t always hold a job down,” Sophia stopped, realizing she had said too much. She did not want Eli to know things, not yet; but if he stayed around, she would tell him, but not yet…not until she was sure.
Wanting to take Eli’s mind off of the small clue that said her life wasn’t perfect; Sophia hopped off the swing and pulled Eli out from behind it.
“But that’s enough about me,” Sophia made sure she had Eli firmly by his hand as she pulled a little farther from the swing, and closer to her. “I don’t want to bore you with all of that dumb stuff,” she said as she closed the few inches between him and her.
She looked up at him, into his deep green eyes, and she felt her own change to a mix of flirty green and crystal blue. She made sure her eyes dug into his, she wanted to see into his soul; and she wanted him to try to see into hers. She changed her eyes from searching to flirty in an instant, not wanting to actually have him look into her soul, not wanting to have him find anything in her eyes that she would not want him to see.
“Why don’t you tell me some things about you?” Sophia soaked the word “you” with flirtations.
Throwing caution to the wind, like she usually did, Sophia decided that she liked this guy. Well, she liked him enough to want to see him again. She leaned forward, not really giving him time to get more than a few words before she closed the distance between his lips and hers. She made sure she stared into his eyes until their lips touched, she wanted to seem pushy, but not forceful; she wanted to be flirty, but not slutty.
