Overall: [400 words minimum]
Sophia is kind of average, but if you told her that she'd probably try to kill you. She will fight when needed, but she's really a lover at heart. She loves water, the beach, anything like that. She secretly presses flowers and has 13 books filled with them, some big, some small, but all beautiful.
Sophia thinks the Earth is amazing and gorgeous, and that humans are just messing it up (ex: the oil spill caused by BP). She presses flowers to capture that beauty, and she will occassionally draw or take pictures of what she wants to capture if she can't press it. She likes things that deal with nature (ex: horseback riding, hiking, swimming, etc.). She wants to feel as close to the Earth as possible, but no one knows that. Not even her mom.
People don't ever really get close to Sophia, since she usually just pushes them away. She used to be a really outgoing and friendly kid, until her dad died. Then she just turned, she didn't talk, and her mom didn't notice (but let's save that for the history ).
People see her harder outer shell the most as in: her flirty, mean, hard-as-rock side.
Sophia is flirtatious, big time. She doesn't completely notice that she's flirting...well half of the time she doesn't notice it, the other half she's fully aware. She can't help herself most of the time. She doesn't have any brothers (or dad) to be over-protective, so she flirts and dates when ever she feels like it. She'll usually bat her eyelashes and smile sweetly to get a guys attention, then she'll go on from there.
She can be mean. She's competitive, so she has to come off as mean. She'll get in a fist-fight if it's absolutely necessary. She doesn't like to lose, or be beaten, or any form as not being better. She'll be a total bitch if she has to.
That's her outer shell. Her inner shell is a lot nicer.
She likes to be told she's pretty, she likes to be girly, she draws, she sings, she dances, she cares about things. She may seem hard as a rock or just rude, but she's really not. She cares about animals, and the planet, and people. She may think humans are messing up the world, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care about them. If she sees someone who needs help, she'll help them. If she sees a hurt animal, she'll help them.
She believes in fairy tales (in a sense). She wants things to work out like a Happily Ever After kind of ending, though she knows that's asking for too much. She wants Santa to be real, she wishes things ended up like all those warm and fuzzy books. But, she knows they won't. And she also knows the world isn't all nice and warm and fuzzy and perfect, so she adjusts for that. She pretends to be rude and mean, just like people expect her to be.
If you dig a little deeper, find the real Sophia...you'd like her.

Appearance: [400 words minimum]
Sophia has a paler complexion, but that's not because she's never outside. She's actually outside a lot. She just doesn't tan. She has a few hidden freckles on her cheeks and on the bridge of her nose. Usually during the summer they darken and you can see them better, also during the summer her skin gets a little darker. She doesn't have any acne, and she never has. She tries to keep her skin as clear as possible.
Her eyes are an odd shade of green, with a hint of light blue. They aren't bright, but they aren't dull. They're interesting. You'll catch yourself staring at them when you talk to her. She doesn't particularly like her eyes, she would rather have bright icy-blue eyes (like she's seen other people have), but there's no way she could change her eye color. Her eyes may seem like they're never ending pastures of light green to some people, but to others they may look like dull green blobs. Sophia thinks the latter (even though she's often complimented on her eyes). Sometimes her eyes will change to more blue that green, but that's only on a rare occasion (usually when she's her happiest). If they change she can feel it (she doesn't know how, but she can). They'll either change to an almost blue or a brighter green. Her eyes are bigger than most peoples, which is another reason you'd notice them. Sophia has high arched eyebrows (she makes sure to wax them that way) that give her a more intimidating look (or if she's not trying to be rude a more thoughtful look).
Her lips are a soft pink color, unless she puts on lip gloss (which is almost never). Her smile is almost flawless (if it isn't forced); she has perfect straight white teeth. You'll almost never find her smiling a happy smile. Sophia has many different smiles. She has her mean smile, which is more intimidating that pretty. She has her fake I'm just trying to please you smile, which isn't very pretty since it's forced. She has a caring/thoughtful smile, which is completely genuine. She has a laughing smile. And she has a real happy smile, which she has on when she's enjoying herself. Sophia is almost always completely aware of what smile (or other facial expression) she has on at the moment. If she's not smiling she'd either be frowning, have a blank face, or have a you're not impressing anyone look. She has other looks for different emotions too, which are hard to describe unless you see them. She has an expression for when she's: sad, upset, heart-broken, thinking about things no one knows she thinks about, (acting) innocent, flirting, etc. Her entire face is involved in whatever look she's giving (her mouth, eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, etc.).
Sophia's hair is brown, sometimes it's lighter and sometimes it's darker (that just depends on how much sun she's been getting). She'll style her hair when she feels like it, most the time she'll just blow dry it when she gets out of the shower and leave it that way, which is usually slightly wavy/curly. She owns a straightener, but she doesn't always use it. Sometimes she'll put her hair up, sometimes she won't it all depends on what she's doing and how she feels.
Sophia has a slender, but not extremely slender, build. She has small muscles, from hiking and doing other outdoor things. She's not too skinny, but she's not overweight. She's a little under the average weight for her age/height. She stands at five feet seven-inches and weighs around 135 lbs. (the majority muscle).
Her style depends entirely on how she feels. Though you'll usually see her in jeans and a shirt, but if she's trying to impress she'll wear a skirt and a nice shirt, or if she's trying to intimidate then she'll make sure she wears something that looks good. She'll wear tank-top and shorts when she wants. Most the time she doesn't care what people think of how she looks (mainly because she doesn't conform). She owns a lot of jewelry, and she'll wear it with her outfit. She almost never has an accessory on. She loves to wear her scarves; she was over twenty-three of them. She'll wear make-up if she's not going to sweat a lot. And when she does wear make-up it's usually just eye make-up and the occasional lip gloss or lipstick, she doesn't need foundation or blush so she doesn't wear it.
Overall, the main thing people pay attention to about Sophia is her eyes and her facial expression. When you first see her, you'll see her eyes, then you'll see her hair and the current expression she's giving, then you'll look at the rest of her...only to end up looking at her eyes again. If she's trying to scare you, she will. If she's trying to show-off you'll be impressed. Sophia is an almost average human teenage girl...almost.

...history
Parents: Charles James Riley (deceased at 26--would be 38)
Celeste Eve Riley (currently 37)
Siblings: --Only Child--
[400 words minimum]
On August 19th, 1993 a darling baby girl was born to a very proud newly-wed couple. She weighed 8.5 pounds, had little spots of hair, and the biggest greenest eyes you had ever seen. She got her mom's facial structure and nose, but her dad's eyes and hair. All-in-all she was a very cute little baby girl. They named her Sophia Eve Riley: Sophia after her mom’s elementary friend that died in a car wreck, and Eve after her dad’s mother who had died the week before she was born.
Sophia’s parents, Charles and Celeste, met in college. Charles was a sophomore and Celeste was a freshman when they met. They were married a month before Sophia was born (which was one year after they met). Celeste had to drop out of college when Sophia was born, but Charles continued and graduated.
Sophia was their pride and joy. Celeste worked at a local diner as a waitress to bring in extra cash and Charles was a manager at a big corporation. They did fairly well, enough to buy necessities/pay bills and a little extra for savings or to spend. They made sure Sophia was as happy as they could make her without spoiling her. She had her own room, colored purple (just as she had asked), with flowers on the walls and she had at least forty-six stuffed animals. She had a bookshelf filled with children’s books and a few young-adult books that she could read when she was older. She had coloring books, sketch pads, pencils, markers, crayons, and her own fake camera she could “take pictures” with. She had a night-stand and a picture of her, her mommy, and her daddy in a picture frame. The picture had been taken by her mom’s friend during Christmas. It had been snowing and her parents were lifting her up to catch a snow-flake on her tongue. It was a great family picture. She even had a small music box she had gotten on her fifth birthday, it played part of Goodnight My Someone from Music Man . She adored it and played it every night before she went to bed.
Overall, Sophia and her family were happy….Until September 19th, 1998. Celeste had just gotten home from working a shift at the same diner she’d been working at for seven years. Charles had had a rough day at work, so he had been drinking. Sophia, only five at the time, had gotten home from school five hours ago, and was drawing in her bedroom. It was eight o’clock (PM), Charles had gotten home five and a half hours ago (he had to get home early to make sure Sophia wasn’t home alone), and he hadn’t made dinner yet. Sophia hadn’t complained that she was hungry and hadn’t eaten since lunch (she had begun to teach herself to not complain or whine anymore), she had gotten home and went to her room and stayed there.
Sophia heard yelling coming from the living room, she knew she shouldn’t have gone to see what was wrong, but she did. She crept down the hall and peeked from behind a corner to see what was happening. Celeste and Charles were yelling at each other…no they were screaming. Charles face was red, a bottle was in his had (four empty on the coffee table). Celeste looked exhausted and disheveled. Sophia didn’t understand what they were saying, something about what was best for the family. They were yelling over the other, each trying to be louder.
The argument ended with Charles storming out of the room, and Celeste was left crying on the couch. Sophia heard a car start, and then peel out of the drive-way. She wasn’t sure what had just happened, but she knew it couldn’t be good. She slipped back into her bedroom, still hungry, and held their family picture to her chest, listened to her music box and cried.
One hour after Charles had left (nine thirty PM) there was a knock at the door. Sophia was asleep in her room, the picture and music box next to her on her bed. Celeste had cooled down, and opened the door (thinking it would be Charles). It was a state trooper. Charles had been killed in a car crash, going twenty mph over the speed limit and driving in the wrong lane. He had also killed three other people (a mom, a dad, and a newborn son).
Celeste woke Sophia up to tell her, and they cried together that night. Sophia didn’t go to school for the rest of the week. They attended the funeral four days after he had died, all of their family was there. Sophia finished up the school year and then her and her mother moved to The Other Island (Hawaii).
After her father died, Sophia shut off from everyone else. Her mother, needing the money, became a stripper but still worked at a diner part-time so she could hide where all the money came from. Celeste started to ignore Sophia more and more as she grew older. Sophia began to hate her mother, blaming her for her father's death.
She and Celeste couldn't be more distant, Celeste knew/knows nothing about Sophia, and vice-versa. They stay out of eachothers hair and face, believing that to be best (even though it worse than even yelling at each other).
Celeste doesn't know that Sophia (and everyone at school) knows that she strips for money. They never talk about it, they never talk about anything.
Sophia used to be a happy care-free kid with a whole family, then a car accident happened, and her family got broken. Now she hides who she really is, from everyone. She still has her music box and photo of her family, the only things she has left of her old life.
She's just a broken daddy's girl....
