Overall:
Azure, in many ways, is unsure of herself and the world. She is always doubting herself and feels as if she can never do anything right. It is a rare feeling for Azure to feel proud of her work, or about anything she has done. Martial Arts is the only exception. Azure practices constantly, as if her very life depends on it. She feels like the person she always wanted to be when she is practicing, and that gives her hope. She admires those who seem unafraid and so sure about themselves.
Azure is constantly giving and putting others first. She is selfless, and can't stand hurting others. Somehow Azure always ends up stuck in the middle when it comes to girl drama. Her friends know she won't stand up for herself and tell them to back-off, so they use that to their advantage. She feels overwhelmed by these "friends," who really for the most part keep Azure on a leash. They would tell her what she should do and what she shouldn't do, even going as far as telling her who she can talk to. Azure is desperate to break away from this viscous circle, but is far too shy to make new friends. Her social skills aren't exactly the best, and she doesn't have the confidence she needs to break out of her shell. She wants to pull out of her shyness, and she worries that she is too self-conscious about herself. Azure envies people that can make new friends easily. Azure isn't even proud of her shift, the Black Mamba. She's scared of telling other people her shift in fear that they will judge her because of that. Azure has had it with her friends, and has been trying to work up the courage to say something to them. After all, she is a snake shifter. And she might just bite.
Azure enjoys watercoloring and sketching landscapes. When she can escape, she likes to wander around the island to find new things to paint. She is inspired by the beauty that surrounds her, and it takes her worries off of her mind. She doesn't like showing people her work, though, in fear that they will laugh at her or criticize it. She doesn't even tell her "friends" that she paints.
Surprisingly enough, Azure does have a bit of adventure inside her. She may be shy, and she may doubt herself a lot, but she enjoys doing things that may seem dangerous. Doing these things makes her feel brave and important. The only problem is convincing herself to do whatever it is in the first place.

Appearance: [400 words minimum]
Azure has light brown hair, which she usually curls. She doesn't let her hair get super long, but lets it grow a little past shoulder length. Her eyes are a deep blue color, which is why she has the name "Azure". Azure has fair skin, and she hardly tans. She has to put on sunscreen or else she burns terribly. Azure loves to wear dresses, and isn't very fond of slacks. Unless she is practicing Martial Arts, Azure likes to wear necklaces. Azure has scars on her arms, though faint. The scars were made by pieces of glass from a shattered window, when she was kidnapped. Because of this, Azure likes wearing long sleeves to hide the harsh reminder of her past.
Her ears are pierced, and she has a bit of an obsession with earrings. Azure also likes to wear bangles and has several sets of all different colors. She never wears bangles on her left arm, though. On her left wrist, Azure wears a black braided bracelet with a white dove charm on it. The charm was given to Azure by her father, and it represents peace. He knew that Azure might have trouble making friends because of her shift, and also given her personality. He gave the bracelet to her so that she would remember that she had someone that loved her. Her father would often tell her that she seemed more like a dove then a snake shift. The bracelet is one of Azure's most prized possessions, and she keep it with her wherever she goes.
Azure is tall, but not super tall that she stands out. She still enjoys wearing high heels, though. However, she isn't the type that wears them everyday. She enjoys tennis shoes and wears them most frequently. Or, even better, she'll likes to go barefooted. When she runs, she'll run without any shoes. It feels more natural to her. Azure's nails are always painted, especially since she is barefooted most of the time.
Black clothes aren't Azure's favorite, especially since they remind her of her shift. The only time she'll wear something completely black is if it's a dress. Most of the time, Azure wears jeans. She also wears nice shirts, though she likes to layer also. Azure also enjoys sun dresses.
In Black Mamba form, Azure has dark gray scales. The inside of her mouth is also black, the reason her shift is called a Black Mamba. Her eyes change color when she shifts, from green to black. She has a long body, about nine feet in length. She weighs about four pounds in snake form. [/size]
...history
Parents: Mary and Mark Rossi
Siblings: Connor Rossi
Azure grew up in Arizona, where the sun blazed with no mercy and where rain was rare. She loved the heat, though she got sunburned more then she'd like. While her family and her friends would be complaining about the heat, Azure would simply enjoy the sun's rays.
At a young age, Azure was a rambunctious girl. Her family was perfect. She went to school, made plenty of friends, helped her mother bake pies on Saturday and watched her brother help father fix the car. Nothing could be better. But eventually, this still peace must come to an end. When she was seven, she was kidnapped while at a playground. She was rescued after her kidnappers crashed in a wild police chase, but landed in the hospital. She had severe cuts on her arms, and hit her head hard when the car hit the tree. As a result Azure had amnesia. Ever since, Azure has been afraid of the world. She used to be outgoing and sociable, but after the traumatizing event all Azure can remember was the day she was kidnapped. Months afterwards, Azure would have nightmares about that night. It got so bad that she would refuse to go to bed, and sleep would only claim her when she could no longer hold out.
Her mother, Mary, was the shifter in the family. She was an alligator shifter, and had a fiery personality. She was passionate about everything, most of all her children. She'd die to protect her children and wasn't afraid to bite. She has an adventurous personality. Before the kidnap, Azure was much like her mother. She was adventurous and had the same passion her mother has. Sometimes, one can still see that passion inside of Azure, but only for a moment. That passion for life that was once a roaring fire was dosed by fear. Mary feels responsible for what happened to Azure, and feels as if she had failed. After all, she is a shifter. She should have been able to sense something was wrong when that car pulled up. Azure always tells her it isn't her fault, but Mary can't help but think it is. Their bond is very close. Mary is a Chemist, and is a bit of a workaholic. If Azure hadn't been kidnapped and gone into Martial Arts, she would have most likely had followed her mother's path.
Connor is a year older then Azure, and is a handy mechanic. He likes to fix things as a hobby, whether it is computers or the bike. He is extremely protective of his sister. Connor wants to become a teacher at Shifter Academy, and is a current senior there. Connor has a strong desire to help his sister find her courage once more, and give her the passion she once had back. He'll beat up anyone that picks on her, or hurts her in any way. He likes to keep a close eye on her. Connor is also a shifter, and his shift is a lion. Azure loves her big brother to death, and likes to talk and hang out with him.
Mark is a history professor at a college, and always is reading up on the latest discoveries. He loves his work, and goes to the library often. Azure got her love of reading from him. He is a good father, always encouraging. He was heartbroken, like Azure's mother, when his daughter was kidnapped. Mark also goes around to schools and talks about stranger danger to kids in middle school and younger. He and Azure are also very close.
Three years after being kidnapped, Azure shifted. She shifted during the day. It was a record high that summer day for Arizona when she shifted. Azure was outside playing in the backyard when it happened. Luckily, she knew her mother and brother were both shifters. She had been nervous the entire day, and had finally decided to go outside. She was broken when she found out that her shift was a snake, and she felt like she had failed. Azure had hoped to be a mammal, not some belly crawler. Azure didn't kill anything when she shifted, or bite anything for that matter.
...connecting human to animal
[One Paragraph Minimum (Can be point form)]
One major reason that Azure shifted into a snake is because of genetics, since her mother was also a reptile. Another major reason, if not more important, is because of how she is treated. Many people fear snakes, and hate them. They kill them as soon as they get the chance. Azure is like the snake because people always seem to misunderstand her, and they don't really take the chance to get to know her. They see the cuts on her arm and the first thing that goes through their mind is cutter. Azure, therefore, is solitary and spends more time with her own thoughts and with her books then with friends. Azure also loves the heat, as does the Black Mamba, which originates from South Africa. If Azure is really frightened, she might accidentally blurt something out that people might view as mean. A Black Mamba will also strike at its opponent, especially if it is frightened.
...literacy
Azure was seven when her life began to cave-in. It all started on a bright blistery day. Azure was at a park with her friends, the parents talking amongst each other in the shade by the picnic tables not too far away. Everything was fine, at least for awhile. It wasn't until a black car drove up the street and parked by the playground that set the motions in play. Azure and her friend were kicking around a soccer ball, oblivious to the strangers that had now exited their car. Her friend kicked the ball too far, and Azure, being unable to catch it in time, ran after it. The ball rolled into the street, right by the strangers. One of them picked it up. Not knowing any better, Azure ran up to the strangers and asked for her soccer ball back. She could have never imagined what happened next.
In the blink of an eye, Azure was thrown into the open door of the car. She screamed, immobilized. Her kidnappers got in the car, acting as if nothing had happened. Her heart raced as the engine of the car started, and she pounded on the windows helplessly. The driver hit the gas and Azure flew backwards with a yelp. Tears rolled down her cheeks, and her screams became sobs. The interior of the car scared her even more. Everything around her was black. Black leather seats, black car, black suits, black tinted windows, and most importantly, shiny black guns.
Her kidnappers laughed amongst each other, punching one another in the shoulder and talking with enthusiasm. Their words, to Azure, blurred together. She couldn't focus, her head felt as if it was spinning in circles. Her old life was fading quickly before her eyes.
"Let me go!" she yelled, pounding at one of her four kidnappers with her fists.
"Dammit, kid," snarled the man, knocking her off the seat and on to the floor. Azure trembled, her body shaking viciously. Azure climbed back on to the seat, only to be pushed back down and kicked.
"Tie her hands, will you?" called the driver, picking up the speed. Sweat beaded his forehead. Then, he cursed again. "We've got company." One of the kidnappers rolled down the window, and cocking their gun, let loose. Four gunshots vibrated through the air as he aimed at the police.
In response, a gunshot blasted the back window of the kidnapper's car. The car swerved, and the driver cursed. Glass crashed down on the two kidnappers sitting in the back, and showered the young Azure as well. Sirens wailed as two police cars pulled up on either side of the black vehicle.
"Pull over, now!" came a voice on the loudspeaker. The kidnappers responded by open firing at the cars. One of the police cars spiraled out of control. The other slammed into the kidnapper's car. Azure closed her eyes and held up her arms to block her face as more glass rained down on her. The glass cut her arms, and red blood oozed from her skin. The smell of burning flesh reached her nostrils as one of the kidnappers in the front of the car was shot in the arm. He cried out, surprised, and dropped his gun to clutch his wound.
The black car screeched as the driver slammed on the breaks as a round of gunshots pierced the car and several of his accomplices. Azure closed her eyes as she felt herself fall forward as the car served off the road. It seemed like forever till the car stopped falling. A loud crunch sounded as the car hit a tree. The sound of car doors opening and slamming reach Azure's ears, but to her, it sounded far off. Yells surrounded the car, and shadows passed over her. A policeman reached in through the broken glass, and picked her up with steady hands.
"It's alright. You're safe," the man said softly. Azure opened her blue eyes, disoriented. She looked at the man with confusion.
"It...it hurts," she whimpered. With that, she went limp in the policeman's arms. She woke up again in the hospital, a week afterwards.
Azure was never the same.
