"What am I doing here?" Jamie asked himself, the wind whipping around him, but it was so loud that he couldn't even hear what he was saying.
He did like water anyway, but he was crazy to come to the beach during a hurricane, no less.
He grounded his feet better, trying not to get blown away, and saw something hit his shoe. Picking it up before it could get swept away, he noted the hair band with...rhinestones? No, he was pretty sure they were diamonds.
Jamie wasn't a thief, though, and he intended to give it back to the owner, he just wasn't sure who it was or where they were.
One foot placed in front of the other, his short hair blown backwards by the sheer might of the wind and water, his clothes were quickly soaked, but he persevered, determined to see if anyone was there.
He couldn't see anything, though, and was about to turn back and run back to the Academy where it would hopefully be safer, but surprisingly something caught his eye.
A girl, probably a little older than him, swept under by the waves. He held his breath, just in case he was swept under as well, and used both of his arms to pull her out and further away from the beach.
The head band was in his hair, for lack of a better place to put it, and he was relieved when it didn't blow away.
Now, Jamie definitely wasn't the strongest person, his shift wasn't the strongest either, but he used all of his might and managed to pull the girl out of the water, and about one hundred feet away from the end of the shore.
His arms weren't aching though, muscled from all his years of climbing, and he was glad for that.
He leaned down, checking for a pulse, but couldn't feel anything, for the cold had made his entire body numb. He couldn't feel anything, couldn't even hear his own thoughts. This storm was serious, he should be at the Academy right now, but he needed to make sure this girl was okay.
"Miss? Are you alright? Is this yours?" he asked, but found himself yelling so he could be heard over the wind. He took the head band out of his hair, and repeated his question again, hoping with all the hope he could muster in such a desperate situation, that this girl was alive and could hear him.{Tag: Anja Word count: 414 Notes: Hope it's OK with you that I replied!}

Jamie almost jumped when he had heard the tree snap. He looked over at it, surprised to see the broken piece rolling away from it's place of birth. The thought made Jamie sad, he'd always loved trees. The sound was probably the worst, and he was surprised he was able to hear it over the storm. It was the kind of sound that one would normally hear in a horror movie, except with a neck. He gulped at that thought, and tried to focus on the situation at hand.
The hurricane was just starting. It would only get worse from here. On the plus side, though, the girl was obviously okay, though shaken. He would have squeezed her hand to comfort her, but he didn't know her at all and didn't know how she would react.
He decided on bringing up the hair band, though, and said, no, yelled over the wind, holding it up, "Is this yours?" That wasn't the most important issue, far from it, but he'd feel better if there were one thing checked off of his to-do list of sorts.
The wind was howling more than ever, sounding like nature's banshee. It was affecting his ability to hear, and his approach to the hurricane. This storm was becoming more and more dangerous by the second. The waves were coming in stronger, a sheer unstoppable force.
He gulped, genuinely scared. Water had never been his favorite thing in the world, far from it, but this took his fear to a new heightened level. This was no community swimming pool, no common thunder storm, no, this was the ocean, and it's might was magnified by at least a hundred times, probably a thousand.
"We've got to get out of here!" he yelled, again trying to put his voice over the howling storm. His head was automatically whipping around, searching for an escape route.
Escape by water was obviously out. They were either going to have to run for it, or hide in a safe spot and wait it out.
The second option was probably the best, but Jamie absolutely hated to run. He wasn't very fast, not very fast at all, but he wondered about the girl. She didn't look like any specific shift, she didn't have hawk like eyes or anything that would immediately point out her animal...which made him wonder what her shift was. And her name, now that he thought about it, but he didn't focus on that. He only focused on their chances of escape.
Hopefully she could run.Tag: Shaggy/Anja Word count: 425 Notes: Sorry it took me so long to reply...my muse was dead for a while Oh ya, Kirby/Sandeep PMed me about dropping in on the thread, and said that her character would probably pop in after you replied.

[/i] Something like that but less obvious. She stopped as they got to the back of the beach. Everything was starting to flood by the looks as the water ran down the side of the cliff that lead up and then finally around the beach itself. If she could reach the cliff without slipping, she could get them both out of there. It was only the point of climbing the rocks and then... what was she expecting? She could—She bit her lip and finally turned to look at him, trying to hide back those tears of panic. She grabbed his hand slowly and tugged him along towards the edge of the cliffs. Rocks jutted here and there, and there was a small path. Not a very safe pass, but it seemed better than being taken into the ocean back in the other path, and thus she found herself at the edge of the rocks, letting go of his hand. She took a deep breath before pointing towards the small path between the rocks. It was worn by the children that had gone through it, and it eventually got steep at the top where someone was quite likely to fall. That scared her the most. Wind, and pouring rain was not a good sign for climbing. “Unless you want to go back into that.” She yelled over the wind, as her voice trailed away from the eternal gale of the wind. She pointed towards the tide that had basically taken over the beach where they had just left. There seemed to be no path back towards the exit where they had lost their chance to go through. Then pointed towards the cliffs. “Then we have to go through there. I don't think there's any other way.” God, she wished she had explored this place more. Even more, she wished she believed in a God. She moved towards the rock and got a tight grasp of the closest rock, her finger trickled with water and her clothes slushed against the rock. She turned to make sure he was coming by the time she had gotten to the first rock, stopping only as she saw a sparkle within the mayhem. It was—She let out a cry. “M-my headband.” Her voice was low, and her heart seemed to rise just enough to stop from choking. Yet if hope had flown away, in a night or in a day, in a vision or in none. Is therefore the less gone? Was she within a dream of a dream? Sandeep felt like his rocks were being dropped on his head as the rain came down harder than before. He was immediately soaked, and the rain just kept coming. He shouldn't have been out there, but he was trying to do what a teacher would, checking for students. His feet were almost sticking in the soft and moist ground and he ran to the beach. Running was getting him there faster, but his process was slowed, much to his dismay. One foot kept moving in front of the other, though, despite Sandeep's hate of the rain. Through the storm, Sandeep saw something...were those...students? He pushed on faster than before, gaining speed, not allowing the water to slow him down. But what could he do when he got to them? He would carry them, he would be able to get them back to the school in a short amount of time, but was he strong enough to do it? Probably not, unless he shifted... Sandeep stopped mid-stride, deciding that was his best bet. He didn't know how well his camel would do during the storm, but he shifted automatically, and was off before you could say, "I hate Aladdin." His progress was much faster as a camel, though his inner animal wasn't liking the water too much, just like as a human. At least I won't get thirsty, he joked to himself, continuing on, but then he wondered if he was going to smell like wet dog, er, camel. He decided not to dwell on that, and pushed onward once more, mad that he wasn't there yet. Running and running, it felt amazing, but Sandeep couldn't take pleasure in it like normal, the situation was too severe. He couldn't afford pleasure it a time like this. It was a rescue mission. There was something by the rocks, at least that's what it looked like to Sandeep, but he didn't entirely trust his vision, thanks to the rain. He didn't stop to think that it was nothing though, and got up to the rocks with relative ease. When he was closer, he was able to see that it was two students. He internally breathed a sigh of relief, and lowered himself closer to the ground so they would be able to hop on. Hm, Sandeep thought. The girl's kind of pretty for a student, ha ha, then chastised himself for internally flirting...he really needed to work on that trait about himself. The water was blocking his vision. Water droplets were all Jamie saw, they coated his eyelashes, his face, and his clothes were absolutely soaked.
Jamie felt cold, numb, as the storm progressed. He was pretty sure that if someone set him on fire he wouldn't have been able to feel it. It'd be impossible to have a fire going in this, though.
He squinted, trying to see something in the distance. The rocks they were on would have provided a good look out point, if only he could see. The rocks were soaked too, darker than they probably ever had been. Nothing, he couldn't see anything.
His thoughts were spinning, they were jarred. And the water definitely wasn't helping at all. It was the feeling of panic one got in an intense situation, the thumping of the heart, the adrenaline pumping through the body. Jamie had only read about that feeling, never experienced it, but now that he had, he never wanted to feel it again.
Despite the pounding of his heart, Jamie couldn't shake the feeling that there was something in the distance, something running toward them, something that looked like...a camel?
“Do you see the camel or is that just me?” Jamie yelled to the girl, hoping she wouldn't think he was crazy.
But he didn't think he was crazy. For soon enough, there was a camel on the rocks, leaning down, offering his back.
The animal's motives struck Jamie like a bolt of lightning, clearing his senses. He walked forward, and looked the camel in the eye. It looked like it was trying to convey them to get on. He took a chance, stopping when he was in front of the animal, and swung one of his legs over sitting in front of the hump. Was this a fellow student, or a teacher? He thought it was a teacher, only a teacher would be obviously looking for students in this storm...unless it was a really concerned student.
He pushed those thoughts out of his head and motioned for the girl to get on as well. This camel could definitely go faster than they could. This was their way out of the storm.
“Come on!” he yelled, repeating what he had just motioned.
He looked down at the camel he was on, recognizing the face even though it was an animal.
“Hey, Mr. Gupta,” he said, probably unheard over the wind. It was polite to say hi to a teacher, at least it was in Jamie's mind, even though he didn't have him for any classes.{Tag: Shaggy and Kirby Word count: 431 Notes: Shaggy -- sorry about the size thing.
