A Butterfly With HopeTime: 3 : 21 Date: June 30th, 2010 Created By Amarantha Hecate~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amarantha, or Cate, sat relaxed in a chair in the lounge. She wanted to go outside, but it was such a beautiful day, which meant the majority of the people would be outside, and she wasn't sure about being here, she was still a new girl and didn't know anyone, this scared her, though she knew she really wasn't, it was only her mind saying she was. There was no true reason for her to be scared, unless they would try to hurt her, the chances were slim and if she did, there were teachers here, she knew they wouldn't let that happen. It was a rather nice school, considering what brought her here.
The painful transformation was still fresh in her mind, going from 5' 5" to two inches, if that wasn't going to be painful, there's something wrong with the laws of physics, but the pure fact that someone can transform into something so small. But more beautiful than she was before, it scared her parents more than she was, it seemed natural to be like that, she was so small, so light, and she could fly, she liked the feeling of being able to fly, she never could fly before, she always had dreams of butterflies and flying. She always wished she could, and her parents always said there was a little butterfly beneath her skin, oh how right they had been. It almost made her laugh, yet cry at how her parents had looked at her that night, when she had managed to transform back into a human. They looked at her as if a monster, but there was still love in their eyes, somewhere, she knew they would never stop loving her, that's why she was here, and not stoned to death, of course, that might be taking it a little too far, stoning people was hundreds of years ago, now they hung, electricute, shot, injected, anything you could think of really.
She sighed, she wore her hair in pigtails today, and she wore no make up, though on the occasion that she would've it would've been a light, rose pink, that was one of her favorite colors, rose kiss, is what she called it. She would've worn her mascara too, but, that always smeered, she wanted to look as normal as she could be, like she was at home with her friends and family. She wore a white shirt and light blue, blue jeans, her normal outfit, of course, her jeans were butterfly printed and she had bejewled butterflies on the back of her shirt, this happened before the change, so it didn't cross her mind too much. Butterfly flip flops were by her feet, she again, got them before she transformed, but she never wore them too often, so they still looked brand new, which made her smile.
On her lap sat a sketch pad that was opened up to a butterfly sketch, though the butterfly was not like a regular butterfly, it had a flower pattern to the wings. She smiled, a rose pattern, she would created a color scheme to work with rose kiss and a light blue. It would be beautiful, she would make it work somehow, and around it she would have words, in a circle, a saying that always made her feel funny inside.
"For those who fly high in the sky freedom is always there."
She laughed as she said that out loud she had a habit of talking to herself, and she knew it, but she didn't care, if people didn't like it, they can leave her alone. She wouldn't let what other people thought effect her, or she would try not to anyways.

I need a little more luck than a little bit CUZ EVERYTIME I GET STUCK THE WORDS DON'T FIT--- It had been a really long day and it was only half over. So far today he had done so much and right now he just needed somewhere to kick back and relax. This morning he had gotten up and had to rush out to the mall to get a couple of things. Then he had to head to the gym and swim for about an hour and a half in order to keep up with his physical activity for the day. After that he showered, put himself together, and headed over the flamingo lawns where he met up with a friend and they hung out for a bit. It was go go go the entire day.
As awesome as all of this probably sounds, he needed a break. It takes a lot out of you when your always moving. He was up in his room right now getting a crossword puzzle to bring with him down to the lounge, which is where he decided to spend his afternoon. He wanted peace and quiet and just to be in his own little world doing his own little thing. He walked in and grabbed his puzzle and his key, then walked out locking the door behind him.
It was rather odd. Karter had not seen his roommates in a really long time. Must be because they went home for a bit for summer vacation. Not him though. He was stuck here at this academy until he could go home for a weekend and visit. It sounded bad but really wasn't horrible as he loved it here. It was, for the most part, free and eventful and he was never really "bored." If he ever was he would quickly be able to find something to occupy his time. It wasn't hard with this many people around all thinking the exact same thing.
He finally reached his location. He opened the door to the lounge and, to his shock, he found someone already inside. He was a bit disappointed with it, but he decided to take a seat on a couch that was against the wall on the other side of the room. He walked past her, smiled, and sat down when he got to his destination. She looked hard at work on something and wondered what it could be with school out. He was very intrigued by it and, even though he tried not to look and be a curious George, he wondered what she could be doing. He retained himself back to his crossword puzzle but knew that this silence wasn't going to last for long. It was a bit awkward and he didn't like it too much.
She was a stern looking girl but very pretty at the same time. He was too distracted with her in the room to concentrate on his puzzle and felt that maybe if he had broken the silence and get that out of the way he would be able to move on and continue what he was doing. With that, he decided to speak. "What are you up to over there?" He asked from across the room. It may have come off a bit intimidating but this was something he was trying to work on. He sucked at first impressions and, because he spoke his mind, he usually screws them up. At this point, he felt that there was no proper and polite way to start the conversation, so he just hoped for the best.

A Butterfly With Hope ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cate was not paying very much attention to what was going on around her, she was still trying to remember what colors went with the right color that she needed, simple, maybe. She had started to nibble on the end of her pencil when the boy walked in, though she didn't seem to notice, she was trying to decide if she was finish sketching the letters out right, though how could she be sure? She never was with anything else. Her mind was not easily made up, and yet she always knew what she needed, she just didn't want to do that too often. She looked at her sketch closely, trying to determine if there were any unwanted marks or anything.
It took her a minute to register that he had spoken to her, she really hadn't heard it too well, she was good at focusing when she liked the subject. She looked at him in surprise that he was here, he must've floated like a ghost for her to not have heard him walking, or was she really that deeply absorbed? Probably the second one, she smiled kindly before speaking.
"Oh, I'm just sketching a butterfly, and trying to determine a color scheme that would work. I had not realized you had come in."
She looked back down at her lap, she truly had not expected anyone to be in there on such a nice day, but, everything has a right to expect the unexpected, as confusing as that may have been to her. She herself never understood it, though she minded not. If life were not a riddle, where would be the joy? She almost laughed at her thoughts, but knew that'd be ridiculous, and would probably look rude and insulting, she wasn't going to laugh at someone, and if she laughed randomly, he might take it the wrong way.
She was quite, neglecting to her surroundings, and yet she tried to catch beauty every where she turned, it didn't seem to work that way, if she was lucky it worked anyways. She smiled calmly, after looking up again, if he would talk to her, she would try to keep herself in check, she had a habit and rambling, and that would not be well. She could be so annoying when that happened, the meanest things her parents ever told her was that she was annoying.
She looked down again, trying to think of something more to say that would not make her a hypocrite. Though she had no idea what to say, or even if she should introduce herself, if he was just questioning her on what she was doing, than was there a reason to introduce herself? She struggled to see any logic that was going through her mind, if there was any logic at all. She had to say something or else she might seem rude, oh appearences were annoying, if it weren't rude she wouldn't care.
She sat up a little more, trying to look more proper than relaxed, though she doubt he'd judge her on how she sat if he spoke like that, though his tone and words were not bothering her, it might've just been how he was, or he was really menacing on which, she might be able to get away from, if the need arose, he seemed to be no threat now though, just another person wanting to relax, it was different for everyone, how they expressed themselves.
"Might I inquire what you're doing?"
She said it calmly, nothing harmful mean by it, if it sounded rude, or snobbish, she could be told to shut up, if she didn't, well, than she was able to be yelled at. She had a tendacy to do that too, not shut up.

I need a little more luck than a little bit CUZ EVERYTIME I GET STUCK THE WORDS DON'T FIT--- It took a while for the girl to even realize he had spoken. She was very into her work, whatever that possibly was. Unfortunately, he couldn't figure out what she was doing from all the way over here and his curiosity was growing stronger. Hopefully she would realize that he had asked a question soon and he could get an answer. He felt like a little kid nagging but he couldn't help it.
Last time he was in the lounge a similar situation happened. A girl named Jessi was writing a piece of music with her guitar in one hand and pen in the other. It was rather interesting since that was one of the things that Karter couldn't do yet wanted to learn. He always thought it was cool how people can do that and had full respect for Jessi. Karter didn't think that this girl was doing anything similar to that since there was no musical instrument anywhere near her, however whatever it was, she had full passion for it just as Jessi had with her music. He wished he had some passion like they did. The only passion he had was for swimming (and that could hardly count as a passion).
Finally, the girl responded looking very surprised, "Oh, I'm just sketching a butterfly, and trying to determine a color scheme that would work. I had not realized you had come in." Karter watched as she had spoken and then looked back down and continued to work. He couldn't help but think that he was being annoying and a nuisance and that all this girl wanted to do was get back to work and be in peace and quiet. Sure Karter could understand that, however he really didn't feel the need to be in peace and quiet when meeting someone new. He wanted to continue talking for a bit longer.
Wait...whoa...did she say she was sketching a butterfly? Really? That's what she was so hung up on? Hmm maybe she was an artist and everything had to be perfect? That must've been it, but still sketching a small creature couldn't be that hard could it? Wow look who was talking, the guy who couldn't even draw a leaf. Again, this would be one of those situations similar to Jessi where he wouldn't know how much attention and passion was needed for something like that since he didn't do the same activity.
He nodded at the reply that she had made and then leaned back on the couch. Not too long passed before this girl spoke again, "Might I inquire what you're doing?"
A great question to ask however Karter was doing something so boring that he almost didn't want to tell her. She would surely think he was a nerd and lame and he didn't want to make that kind of impression. Then again, he didn't really care what other people thought of him, so he decided to tell her. "Me? Oh, nothing interesting. Just doing a crossword." He started. He held up his crossword so she can see it quickly and then put it back down. He wanted to know more about her though so he quickly added to the conversation, "So...sketching. That's cool. Why a butterfly?" Maybe this wasn't going to be that bad after all.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ---And every time that I try I get tongue tied I'LL NEED A LITTLE GOOD LUCK TO GET ME BY THIS TIMEcount :678 tags:Amarantha noted: It wasn't bad at all! A Butterfly With Hope ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Crosswords, she never had a good enough attention span to do that, or she never found them interesting, or both. She had some problems understanding big words, she knew enough to pass, with the help of her family and friends, that's all she really wanted, wasn't like she had a career picked out or anything, being an Artist didn't always work out too well. Okay, she loved being an Artist and was going to try to make it her career, minor details, always so annoying in thought.
"I was never good at crosswords, not without getting help on them, I'm not that smart."
She laughed lightly, word usage was never her strength, but when she learned a word and liked it she used it, like inquire. Wasn't that easy of a word if you didn't look it up, or depending on the sentence, okay, English was one of her stronger areas, but still, words and sentences, and nouns, they confused her. Whether she was stronger in an area had to effect over that.
She smiled when he asked her about her choice of sketch, she had a reason, she had many reasons, childhood obsession, fifteen year old butterfly transformation in the middle of the night, that was a fun birthday, not.
"When I was younger I had this obsession with butterflies, they were in my dreams, in my thoughts, and I could always knew where they were when I was around them. Than my fifteenth birthday rolled around...That was an interesting birthday, to say the least, and it fueled my obsession with butterflies twice as much.
She shook her head, she loved butterflies she truly did. She was starting to figure out why her transformation happened too, so that was a good thing. Almost everything that got her heart beating about nintey beats per minute made her change.
"That and they're a welcomed challange because almost everything on a butterfly is symetrical, so small details are important not to miss."
She was a bit weirder than most people when it came to obsessions, some girls obsessed over boys and make up, others obsessed over hair and cloths, she just obsessed over butterflies, nothing to normal about that. She felt kind of weird talking to him without introductions, she figured that'd be a good idea.
"My names Amarantha, by the way, it seems weird talking to someone without them knowing who you are, for me anyways."
She was almost always insulted when someone addressed her as girl, or person, she had a name, if they'd just ask her for it, she'd give it, not that hard to figure out. She smiled lightly and closed her sketch pad, she could finish later she had no problem with that.

I need a little more luck than a little bit CUZ EVERYTIME I GET STUCK THE WORDS DON'T FIT--- Karter listened as the girl explained her low level of skill at crosswords, "I was never good at crosswords, not without getting help on them, I'm not that smart."
He smiled a bit. Most people found it very hard to do crosswords, it wasn't just her. Honestly, Karter wasn't sure why he could do them so well. He didn't think he was THAT smart but, then again, he was in engineering and doing just fine. "Crosswords are hard," he started, "Most people have a real hard time with them including myself. I just like them enough to keep going." It was true. Most people quit when they got stuck. Guess that is what makes Karter different from them. The whale shift listened as the girl answered another one of his questions. The one about why she chose a butterfly to draw. He listened as the answer rolled out of her mouth, "When I was younger I had this obsession with butterflies, they were in my dreams, in my thoughts, and I could always knew where they were when I was around them. Than my fifteenth birthday rolled around...That was an interesting birthday, to say the least, and it fueled my obsession with butterflies twice as much." Karter learned a lot from this girl in those couple of sentences that she had spoken. He found out she loved butterflies, had her first shift a little later than most, and shifted into a butterfly. That was a really neat shift now that he thought of it. They were the signs of beauty and freedom and looking at this girl, he can totally understand the shift. She was gorgeous. He listened as the girl continued, "That and they're a welcomed challange because almost everything on a butterfly is symetrical, so small details are important not to miss." Wow, at least he didn't have to worry about her being shy! She was giving a more than one word answer which was great considering that isn't the type of starting to conversations that Karter was used to. Normally, people would just say, "Oh, just because" and leave it at that. He was happy that this girl actually had a voice. Karter was just about ready to reply when she decided to introduce herself, "My names Amarantha, by the way, it seems weird talking to someone without them knowing who you are, for me anyways." Amarantha? He might not have heard correctly but that was a real nice name. He would definitely butcher it the first time he said it though since it wasn't the usual "Amanda" or "Melissa" that were easy to remember. He now took this oppurtunity to reply, "Amranantha?" He asked though he doubt he got it right, "Sorry, it's a nice name though it'll take me a couple tries to get. I'm Karter" He smiled at her and hoped that she wouldn't be offended by the fact that he couldn't pronounce her name. He continued, "So you're a butterfly shift? That's really cool." No word of a lie there. He was actually really interested in the people who had more unique shifts other than the wolves or leopards that he had usually run into. He had only run into one other insect here so far, Anya, and it was nice to know that there was a variety here and not just mammals. He wasn't sure if he should move closer to her just yet, so he waited to see where this conversation would go.[/blockquote] ---And every time that I try I get tongue tied I'LL NEED A LITTLE GOOD LUCK TO GET ME BY THIS TIMEcount :768 tags:Amarantha noted: It's late so this isn't that great haha lyrics:Tounge Tied by Faber Drive

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amarantha smiled, he seemed genuinly interested in what she spoke, and she was glad, most people were cranky when you talk about stuff like that and give an actual answer, they would always just ignore you, she smiled kindly. He was nice, maybe being here wouldn't be so bad as she first thought it would be, being surounded by strangers, most of them big enough to squish her if she couldn't control her shifting.
Amranantha, she laughed at the mispronounciation, taking absolutely no offence to it, she smiled and looked at him, of course she herself had problems with that name, trying being five and trying to pronounce it, it never worked, she loved and yet hated her name, but she also had nicknames, her favorite coming from Lucretia, her middle name, the nickname was Lucre, (LuCray). It was easier, but if that was still hard she had two others, three, actually, but the fourth only her parents and closest friends had called her by her fourth.
"If it's easier, I am also called Lucre, Cate, Cat, or Butterfly. Lucre comes from Lucretia, and Cate or Cat come from Hecate. My parents had, an interesting naming scheme."
Karter, that was a nice name, she had never really heard of a first name being Karter, maybe that was just her ignoring everyone around her, she had known one person with the last name Carter, well she'd known four, parents and children, but that was going into depth, which another thing that she got annoying with, she'd go into deatail and babble for eternity, or at least what felt like an eternity. Even to her, and she was the one that babbled, which didn't help that her thoughts were like that too, it made her a slower than most people.
Which could be said as well with her shifting time, she was slower on the uptake, she just supposed that meant the same for her shifting ability. She didn't mind at all, of course not, she wasn't very minding of a lot of things, whether that included her appearence, or her mental developement, she liked being whom she was.
"Karter is a unique name itself, I have not heard it used as a first name, but mind me, it is much easier than my name."
He was a nice person, she might even just consider him a friend, she smiled to herself, her first friend, someone who found a helpless butterfly a cool thing, she was shorter than half a foot in her shift form, and weighted what one ounce? Going from a healthy five foot five inches and hundred twenty something pounds or so, it seemed like a large change. Just another thing her parents always reminded her of when she was little and down, "Good things, come in small gifts." Than she thought a moment, maybe this wasn't a curse, maybe it was a gift, a small, unique gift.
"Butterflies aren't any cooler than any other creature on this planet. Animals and insects are like humans and animals, they are all equal, whether or not we agree on it. To me, that is how it is, to you it may be different, but oh well, we all have a right to express our own opinions, right?"
Yeah she thought differently than a lot of people who thought they were better than others. They annoyed her, they should be treating everyone the same, even though that seemed impossible in the world they lived in.
I need a little more luck than a little bit CUZ EVERYTIME I GET STUCK THE WORDS DON'T FIT--- Karter listened as the girl with the long name laughed at his pronunciation. This was probably not the best way to meet someone, but hey there was nothing he could do to help it. He listened as she gave him advice, "If it's easier, I am also called Lucre, Cate, Cat, or Butterfly. Lucre comes from Lucretia, and Cate or Cat come from Hecate. My parents had, an interesting naming scheme." Whoa there. She had many different nicknames and he only had to pick one. If people weren't calling him Karter, they would only call him Kart. There was the odd person who combined his first and last name and called him Korbi, though he really didn't like it that much.
H
e decided to stick with Cate since it was the most normal for him. He knew a couple more with a name similar to Cate and therefore it would be easier for him to remember. "Cate it is then" he smiled, "And no kidding. Your name is so nice that I wouldn't want to mess it up." It was true. Eventually he would get it, but for now he would stick with Cate. Though he was curious as to where she got that name from, "How did we go from...Amranantha? Amarantha? Ama..." he stopped, that was enough of that, "Er..to Cate? I don't hear Cate or any form of that in your name" He laughed a bit. He felt so stupid for trying again and failing hardcore with her name. Shoot. He sat up now more interested in the conversation. Cate spoke again not too long after, "Karter is a unique name itself, I have not heard it used as a first name, but mind me, it is much easier than my name." He smiled. He was one of the only Karter's he knew and THE only Karter he knew that spelt his name with a K instead of a C. Though, it wasn't as unique as her name that's for sure. "Well thanks, though in comparison to yours it's as unique as a yellow banana." Yes, he used metaphors and man it was 100% true. Compared to the nice name that she had, Karter was nothing. Karter looked around the room. It was a little weird being in here all alone with a girl that he had just met. Karter was a ladies man when the time and mood was right, however the time and mood wasn't right at the moment and therefore Karter wouldn't be hitting on this girl any time soon. She was beautiful and everything, but he just decided that the conversation was going more down the friends path right now and he liked it that way. His thoughts were interrupted as the butterfly shift spoke again, "Butterflies aren't any cooler than any other creature on this planet. Animals and insects are like humans and animals, they are all equal, whether or not we agree on it. To me, that is how it is, to you it may be different, but oh well, we all have a right to express our own opinions, right?"Ok so it's true, Karter didn't play favourites too much with animals, but of course he thought that killer whale's were by far the coolest not only because he shifts into one, but because they are fantastic swimmers like himself. "I guess so," he started, "I do have reasons for my favourite animals though and not just because they're 'cooler'" Karter didn't like that word. Cooler. What the heck is cool anyway? Seriously, people calling other people "cool" or "not cool" is a waste of breath. Stupid people. He continued, "It's really amazing the variety of animals that people shift into here at the school. For example, we have you who shifts into a small butterfly and me who shifts into a huge killer whale. Crazy stuff." He had thought about this on a couple of occasions. He's already met so many different shifts such as a fly, a panther, an albatross, a tiger, a butterfly now, and so many more. It was absolutely insane but really interesting at the same time. As interesting as this conversation was, Karter really felt the urge to get up and do something fun. She was sketching and he was doing a crossword inside on a beautiful day. He felt like he should offer a suggestion on something more enjoyable they could do to kill time but he couldn't think of anything so kept it to himself. When he thought of something, he would speak and ask if the little shift would like to join him. He was having a great time in the conversation thus far though and was happy he came to the lounge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "If it makes you feel any better, you had it right the second time round. Amarantha is a confusing name if you don't get it sounded out ten million times. But Cate is from last name Hecate, spelled how it's sounded, He and than Kate with a C. I think it's Celtic, I'm, not sure."
She listened to him speak, a whale, an Orca, no less, one of the greatest beings in the ocean. But having a favorite doesn't mean they're unequal, she loved all animals and insects but favored the butterfly, obviously, her cloths and drawings showed her to be obsessed. She was still a respectable person if she was obsessed, so she minded not, her obsessions never interfered with her school work, never had, and never will, she hoped, anyways.
She tilted her head, there must've been a whole variety of shifters, or else they wouldn't have made such a large school for them. Her parents were normal people, she had no idea how she got an ability that could make you change forms, from girl to butterfly, or from boy to orca, she didn't like it when people called them 'killer' whales, humans are killers too, they kill animals to eat, and animals kill animals and very rarely humans, to eat. Though she knew humans were the last resort, they weren't the animals usual meal, and probably had a lot less meat than actual animals. Even though scientifically they were classified Kingdom: Animilia even though they were nothing like animals, they were worse, it was her opinion, if she could, she would stay a butterfly forever, but that didn't seem too logical, sure, she'd meet other butterflies, but still, she can do that still. She doesn't need to be permanently a butterfly to meet butterflies.
"Whales are magnificent, really big, but magnificent, people don't seem to understand that whales are just like every other fish in the see, trying to find a way to survive, eating when it needs food, eating what it needs to eat, they're like sharks. Misunderstood and never given the chance, butterflies are air creatures, they don't care about them, but when it's water, we don't seem to understand what's down there, I love water, though I have a fear of the deeper ends of lakes and oceans because I don't know what happens down there.
"Pardon me, that's the speach my science teacher told me, only I just changed the animals a bit."
She laughed, she had had that speach given to her class in fifth grade, she was eleven at that time? She had a good memory, if it was something that related to a topic she liked, science, one class she actually payed attention to. There were many artistic things you could capture in a science class, you just had to look for them, you had to search for them hard, her father had told her that to, which is why that was like the only class she ever got an A in. Astronomy was fun, and they always squeezed that in with science, imagine the beauty of space, people are scared of it, because they don't know what's out there, but they know they can go there, so that lessons the fear. But you can't go under water as deep as certain water creatures can because of the pressure created by gravity. It's at its densest there.
Just because she wasn't good at those fancy words, doesn't mean that she didn't know things. She got mostly B's in her schooling, C's in a few other things, but that didn't mean anything. She was too headstrong to fail, and too headstrong to make the A Honoria, not that that mattered to her, she preferred to be passing in the middle than an over achiever or underachiever, even middle achievers, yes, she just made up her own classification, made it into good colleges. It all depended on their determination and willingness to cooperate.
I think it's Celtic, I'm, not sure." So he did get it right! Only one problem, he couldn't remember what he had said. Oh this was bad but you know what, he was happy with using Cate so that is what she will be called by him. It's easier and it sounds just as nice. "You know what, I think I'll just stick with Cate" he said with a smile. Since it was easier, he thought it would just be better and they can move on from this awkward topic of conversation. The conversation went on with the talk about their animals. He was still very interested in the fact that she shifted into one of the smallest animals and he into one of the largest. It was just so mind-boggling how these two creatures that could never be friends in the wild, could be getting along so well. How awesome is that! Never in a million years did he expect to be talking to someone who shifted into a butterfly. Never. Then again, never in a million years did he expect himself to shift into a killer whale or any animal for that matter. Looking back on it, it was a real life changing experience and it was moreso life changing in a bad way than a good way. Only because he had to leave all his friends and family and couldn't even tell his friends why. It was sad really. Cate spoke about this, "Whales are magnificent, really big, but magnificent, people don't seem to understand that whales are just like every other fish in the see, trying to find a way to survive, eating when it needs food, eating what it needs to eat, they're like sharks. Misunderstood and never given the chance, butterflies are air creatures, they don't care about them, but when it's water, we don't seem to understand what's down there, I love water, though I have a fear of the deeper ends of lakes and oceans because I don't know what happens down there." Wow, that was a very profound thing to say. It was so true. Everyone was so worried about saving the endangered animals that were easier to save because they were on land. Like the tiger or the hawk. But when it comes to the water animals, ya they helped, but it's harder for them to do so. And when it comes to the butterflies? Forget it, humans just couldn't be bothered. It was horrible. She continued with the reference of her speech, "Pardon me, that's the speach my science teacher told me, only I just changed the animals a bit." He smiled, "It's a very good speech and is 100% true. We really are misunderstood as whales, especially Killer Whales. We aren't killing machines and are not play toys that are to be pet and swam with at Sea World. People just don't get it." He felt very strongly about this. He did not like the fact that whales were captured randomly one day, tossed in a tank, and forced to jump and splash audience members. Seriously, who thinks of that? He couldn't stand the thought of being closed in a tank and not being given freedom. It was horrible. He, one day, wanted to go and free all of those whales since he now had the experience that they had of being one and knows better than anyone that they can't live that way. He just needed to brainstorm how and eventually, he would do it. All this talking and Karter only now noticed that there had been pitter pattering on the window caused by rain. Was it storming this entire time? No he didn't think so. He could hear the howling of the wind like it had never howled before, and he looked out the window to see that it was really really dark for 3:30 in the afternoon. Something wasn't right. "It's really coming down out there eh?" he said to Cate as he got closer to the window. He had never seen it rain this hard or the wind howl this loud. And they were inside too! It looked crazy out there. The window took up the majority of the wall space so he could see a lot from it, and he noticed that the trees were bending because of the wind. This was some storm. He looked at Cate, "Cate, come take a look! It's one of the biggest storms I've ever seen!" He continued to look at the window. The wind was picking up and it showed with the trees bending. He noticed some branches being broken off the tree and being flung through the air. All of a sudden, he didn't feel safe. He felt as if he was in the wrong spot and that any one of those branches can come hurdling in through the window and crash into him. He took a couple of steps back. He wasn't sure what to do. "How safe do you feel in here? I'm thinking that we shouldn't be this close to the window. Things are flying through the air and it would take nothing for one to come through the window." Many different thoughts were flying through his head and not many of them were optimistic thoughts. This was an intense storm and intense storms are very unpredictable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amarantha couldn't help but smile, here name was not an easy name and she was one of the people who had, had an issue with it when she was first learning it, even though it was her own name. Later on, even her mother admitted even though she named her, she always had problems with it. Which didn't help Cate with it at all because she was a slow learner. She always had a learning problems, and it got worse as it went because she got less and less willing to study, which is weird, she gets distracted.
When he agreed with her on the whales she was kind of surprised, though she would not admit it, nor would she show it, she had no reason to think he wouldn't agree with her. Especially considering he was a whale, she guessed it was because she was being like everyone else, and she knew she shouldn't be, it was so mean, she would stop thinking like that, because that was not right, she had to try to be perfect, though she had her faults, and occasionally she liked them, like the fact that she was always there.
She listened when he got up to go to the window, she too had heared the storm now, but, it was so sunny earlier, could she have been talking that long? That didn't seem right, she should've been paying attention, she got up and looked out the window, standing beside him, and she flinched, she was worried, she didn't like storms, they scared her and they always will. With this storm, she knew it would start storming, or a tornado, did they have tornadoes where they were? She didn't know and she would eventually do research.
"I do not feel safe, not at all. It was sunny earlier, how can it not be now? It was so beautiful. I do suppose it is a good that I chose to be inside today, it would not be good if I were trapped out there."
She was nervous and it was obvious, she walked backwards and sat down on the floor near where she had sat before, she was consentrating, it was obvious, due to the meditative breaths she was taking, she had to try to calm down, she was scared, which meant that if she didn't calm down, she would shift, she didn't want to do that, not when she first met Karter, he was too nice, she didn't want to startle him, or creep him out, which both seemed all but impossible considering where they were. They both shifted and they both were different from the others, they were unique, everyone here was different and special so it shouldn't be so bad, but still.
"Do you think it's safe in here?"
