...personality
Likes:(at least 10)
- Surfing- Green Sea turtles usually stay close to the water, so this ties into her animal side, and Melany loves the adrenaline rush she gets when she's on a big wave.
- Tanning- Green Sea Turtles are often seen laying out on the sand, sunbathing. This is another trait that Melany shares with her animal side. And also, who doesn't love a good tan?
- Romance- The green sea turtle is said to have a large heart-shaped shell, due to this Melany is a hopeless romantic (or maybe it's the fact she watched too many Disney movies as a young kid:D).
- Swimming- Turtles love to swim, and so does Melany. Melany loves the feeling of the water moving to make room for her, the way she feels like she fits in. Plus it's quiet, and the way the water surrounds her is comforting.
- The Ocean- (Self Explanatory)
- Shifting- Being a turtle fits Melany, in that she is usually introverted, and shifting lets her get away from everything else...and just be a turtle for a while.
- History- Green Sea Turtles are some of the only turtles that have been around long enough to see the dinosaurs evolve and then become extinct. Learning everything that her animal side's species has lived through makes Melany even closer to being a turtle. And it's just interesting to know things.
- Being Green- Melany is very environmental, she loves to recycle and do anything she can to help keep our ecosystem in good shape.
- Biology- Learning about how different things in the body work, fascinates Melany. She loves to learn in general, but when she finds out how someone's heart works, or what a frog looks like on the inside it just captures her interest.
- Scuba Diving- Though Green Sea turtles are usually found closer to the surface, Melany still loves Scuba Diving. She enjoys seeing all the oceanic creatures that live deep under the surface.
- Doing As She's Told- Melany is the type of person that does what she's told, whether she wants to or not. It's not that she enjoys dong what she's told to do, its just been programmed in her to do as she's told when she's told to do it.
- Fairytales- Melany loves happy endings, even though they don't relate to reality well.
- Being a Vegetarian- She doesn't like to eat meat, and neither do green sea turtles. The only meat Melany eats is small fish and other small sea life (crabs, lobsters, etc.)
- Discovering- Melany loves to learn things and discover/explore.
- Finding Nemo- it's her favorite movie.
- Music- It's been her one escape when she really needs it. Music is like swimming for Melany it helps her fit in, feel accepted. She loves anything involved with music.
- Showing off- she loves to make others jealous.
- Guys- she may not know how to flirt really well, but she still tries.
Dislikes: (at least 10)
- Green Sea Turtles becoming extinct- If green sea turtles become extinct then it might confuse most people if they suddenly see one.
- Eating meat- Green sea turtles are herbivores, and Melany is a vegetarian. Another way her and her animal relate.
- Pollution- The more pollution the worse air quality, which hurts the ecostystem.
- Ignorant People- (Self Explanatory)
- Attention Seekers- Melany thinks people who always hog the spotlight are annoying, and are way too dramatic.
- Liars- People who lie are either trying to hide something or are just a bad person in general.
- The Carribean- In the carribean people like to eat green sea turtles...that's not a good thing.
- Sharks- Sharks could eat green sea turtles if they wanted to, therefore they scare Melany. And sharks are menacing even if she wasn't a green sea turtle.
- Nets- Nets can catch turtles and other animals, whether on land or in the sea, and usually causes them harm.
- Too many people- crowded areas make Melany nervous, she's okay in crowds...as long as she has her space.
- People who judge- "It's like they have nothing better to do" but she still listens to them.
- Politics- "It's just confusing and all two faced"
Fears: (At least 3)
- Of everything changing- Melany isn't a very spontaneous person, almost her entire life has been planned out for her since she was around three yeas old.
- Fire- She's an oceanic type person, and fire is too hot. Plus it kills things, and usually only destroys.
- Things she can't control- Melany isn't spontaneous, so she isn't good when plans change, or anything changes. When things change they're usually out of her control, and not being able to control something is scary in itself.
- Being alone- Melany doesn't want to be left or forgotten, no one does, but it's one of her worst fears. She doesn't like to be alone, well...she likes her alone time, she just doesn't want that to be all the time. She wants someone to care about her.

Overall: [400 words minimum]
Melany isn't your average 15 year old. She tries to be perfect, and doesn't like her plans to change. She's spent most of her life trying to please others. She doesn't know when to stop correcting someone, and most of the time she can be really awkward. She loves to swim, surf, study, learn, and have fun. Though she doesn't have the same definition of fun as everyone else. She's competitive, really competitive, and to her fun is trying her hardest. She's tries to be perfect, ever since she was three years old. She's tried to walk correctly, talk without any problems, and she didn't really like being a child. She tries to attain perfection because her parents (adoptive parents) pushed her to be perfect, they put pressure on her. Which is another reason why she doesn't really know how to have fun, she never had time to. Melany isn't average, or below average, or even above average. Melany is...Melany. She's weird, and annoying, but she's fun and entertaining. All she really wants is the best for everyone, she's competitive but passive, she loves romance, but can't stand couples. She's jealous and impulsive and herself. Melany doesn't mind what anyone says...unless it's about her. Melany works on the image she puts out, she makes sure her body language is correct and her tone is perfect. She doesn't like to be spontaneous, she can be average but chooses to not conform, to stand out. She's insane, and boring, and loveable. Melany worries about what others think, when she should just kick back and have fun. She loves the ocean, actually any water, which is probably why she is an oceanic creature. She feels like she has to look her best, even if she's just going swimming. She likes to impress, she loves to show off. Melany is Melany, she's her own person. She knows she shouldn't let what others think of her bother her, but it does. She's tried to not let it, but she's extremely paranoid. She loves music, it's like water to her, helps her fit in, feel accepted (and since theirs so many different styles she can't be wrong). She's an awkward person, but when she's talking about swimming, surfing,or anything else she loves (or doing what she loves) she couldn't be more comfortable. She's not good around people, but she doesn't freak out in a crowd. Melany's main goal is to be accepted and loved, she wants someone to care about. She's a hopeless romantic and still believes in love and happily ever afters. Melany is Melany, whether she wants to be or not.
...appearance
x x
Celebrity Play By: Ashley Olsen
Appearance: [400 words minimum]
Melany is pretty tan, even in the winter (since she lives by the beach). She has a flat stomach, and some lean muscles from swimming, surfing, and when she occassionally works out. Her eyes are usually blue, but they can sometimes change to a turquoise (blue-green) color. Her eyes look like they're shimmering when she gets excited or extremely happy. Most people comment on her eyes and say they look just like the ocean, when she shifts you can still see the depths of the sea in them. Melany loves her eyes, that's one thing she won't change no matter what anyone else says; she thinks they connect her to her shift, family, and the place she loves the most (the ocean). Her eyes are definately the first thing everyone notices about her. Melany's hair is a light blonde, with even lighter highlights and a few brown lowlights; it goes past her shoulders, and a little under her collar bone (unless she decides to grow it out). She has her hair up when ever she's surfing, swimming, or working out. It's usually down the rest of the time. But Melany's hair is just however she wants it to be. Most of the times it's straight or wavy, she hardly ever curls it. She has a birth mark the shape of a heart on the inside of her right wrist (Mollie has it too), which she rubs, on occassion, when she gets nervous. She doesn't hide her birthmark, but she doesn't show it off either. Hardly anyone notices it, but that's probably because no one really gets close enough to Melany to notice any of the little physical traits, or even personality traits, that she has. Most people don't like to get past her harder outer shell to the real Melany inside.
Melany's style is basically average, she wears jeans and t-shirts, dresses, skirts, pretty much anything when she feels like it. Most of the time she'll have a swimsuit on under what she's wearing, just in case there's a pool near by.
Melany stands at five feet two inches, which is short for her age. But this is a trait she has in common with her turtle (which is five feet one inch). Her shoulder blades stick out slighty, but enough you notice it. Melany doesn't have any tattoos...yet, she wanted to get one but her adoptive parents wouldn't let her. Melany weighs approximately 110 pounds, couting her muscle.
When she shifts into a green sea turtle, her skin is green (which is where the turtle gets its name), her shell is in the shape of a heart (which is where she gets her birthmark from), her flippers have small spots on them. Her eyes keep the same blue-green/blue color, which is unusual for a turtle. The one absolute constant she has is her eyes, whether she is a human or a green sea turtle her eyes still have that same questioning/knowing look, and they still hold the depth of the ocean in them.

[400 words minimum]
Melany had a normal life until she was 2 years old. Up until then Melany would play with her toys and sisters, color draw, do normal 2 year old things. . But everything changed on her parent's way home from the hospital. They were coming home to show her, and her sisters, their new baby brother, James Tyler. Thanks to an unresponsible kid trying to get an adrenaline rush the parents and new baby brother never made it home.
The state trooper showed up at Melany's house and told the babysitter. Melany, Mollie, and Macey didn't understand what their babysitter had told them. It didn't sink in until the funeral.
Only a few close family friends came. Everyone else in their family was already dead, and their parents didn't have too many friends; it was a small funeral.
The three girls were sent off to an orphanage; for the first year they all stayed together, but after a while they were seperated. Melany and Mollie were sent to one foster home and Macey was sent to another.
Melany and Mollie's foster family was the ideal family, plus they wanted to adopt both Melany and Mollie (which made them an even better family). But Mollie was a three year old girl with scissors, and decided to cut up their foster mom's great-grandmother's wedding dress to make it "modern and more prettier". The family kept Melany, but sent Mollie back to the orphanage claiming she was "a problem child and did not belong in their house." Melany and Mollie haven't seen each other since.
Melany doesn't remember any of this, and her adoptive family never told her she was adopted (until after she shifted). She knew her adoptive family as her real family, she never thought she was adopted, even though she was the only one in her family with blonde hair and blue (or blue-green) eyes.
No, she never thought she was adopted, but she did think she was the "black sheep" of the family, or that she was just different. Her (adopted) family always reassured her that she belonged with them, and not to worry about it too much.
Besides thinking she didn't really belong with her (adopted) family, Melany had an almost normal childhood. They were well off, their house was four stories high (not including the basement). Their were six bedrooms (one for Melany, one for Elizer, one for the parents, and three guest bedrooms). Including the bedrooms, their were four full bathrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, entertainment room, basement, playroom, and an inground pool in their backyard (which also had a basket ball court).
Melany's room had an oceanic theme, since she got to choose how it would be painted. Elizer's(her [adopted] brother) room had a sport theme. Their parents room was more classy (boring), with beige walls and matching furniture, with family photos and portraits specifically hung to guide your eyes around the room.
Melany spent most of her childhood and adolescence either swimming in her pool, at the beach, or studying. She was close to her brother, Elizer (she nicknamed him E.T. after they watched that movie together), and they usually did things together. He would sometimes swim with her and she would sometimes play basketball with him, but usually they would just go to the beach together. They weren't inseperable, but they were a lot closer than most brothers and sisters are, especially since he was a year older. (Did I mention that E.T. didn't know Melany was adopted? Oh, he didn't know:D)
Both of their parents worked, so they had a nanny to take care of them, her name was Marissa. Marissa was the one who knew Melany was different without being told; Marissa could shift.
The first time Melany shifted was when her, E.T., and Marissa were at the beach. Melany was preparing for her surfing competition the next day, it was the semi-finals to see who would go onto the national tournament. She was surfing, and E.T. and Marissa were watching her from shore, ready to tell her what to fix for tomorrow.
She was coming up on a big wave, when she started to get off balance. It felt like she didn't even have feet anymore, she lost her balance completely and hit the water face first. She was about half a mile away from shore, so Marissa and E.T. didn't notice that she had fallen until her board came up on shore. While E.T. and Marissa were looking for her head to appear on the surface of the water, Melany was shifting.
He legs were the first to change, she felt her toes grow together and her kness dissappear. She was terrified when she looked down and saw flippers. Then her arms changed too, she felt her fingers began to grow together to form the top of a flipper, then her bones changed to form the rest of it. Next her back and stomach changed into a shell, her spine and ribs changed shape to form a heart shaped shell. Her mind set changed, letting her turtle instincts take over. Her eyes and face changed, shifting into the head of a turtle. Her eyes stayed the same as before though, they kept the depth of the ocean in them.
At first, Melany was terrified and didn't know what to do...but then, she realized that this was what she had always wanted, to be part of the ocean. She always thought she was different, and now she knew why. She swam to the surface to see how different everything would look through her new eyes.
When Marissa saw a turtle's head appear on the surface instead of Melany's, she knew what had happened. She told E.T. she was going to swim out and get Melany, E.T. wanted to do it, but she told him to go to the car and get some towels instead.
Marissa shifted into a loggerhead sea turtle and swam out to Melany. Melay started to get scared when she saw another turtle coming toward her, so Marissa shifted back to calm her down, which scared Melany even more.
Finally, Marissa got her calm enough to talk her into shifting back. Melany had a million questions, and Marissa answered them all, except for when she asked if the family she knew was her real family. That's when Marissa told her they had to swim back to shore and calm E.T. down.
E.T. was waiting for them on shore with the towels. Marissa had told Melany not to mention any of it to her brother, and so Melany just said she had lost her balance. She took a towel, and they headed home.
When they got home, Marissa called their parents and said she had to talk to them when they got home. Melany and E.T. knew something had changed, and that when their parents got home everything else would change.
When their parents got home they sat everyone down and had a long discussion, shortened they said: Melany's adopted, Marrissa said since her family is different than us she now needs to go to a special school by Hawaii.
Melany was to leave in a week, that way she had time to say goodbye to all of her friends (which showed how much her parents had stopped paying attention to her because she only had one friend, excluding her brother, and she had moved last week).
The night before Melany was supposed to fly out E.T. came to say goodbye. Since they had found out they weren't really related E.T. and Melany were awkward around each other and didn't know what to say. So, when he came to say goodbye Melany was surprised. She was outside, swimming in the pool; all of her things were already packed except for the swimming suit she was wearing, her night clothes, and what she was wearing tomorrow. He jumped in the water with her, and soon it was just like old times, they were racing, splashing, and having fun. They had been swimming like that for a while, when they realized it was almost midnight, and Melany had to leave at four. They climbed out of the pool, and said goodnight.
E.T. never actually told Melany goodbye, but swimming with her like they used to was good enough for her.
She left that morning, E.T. and her
Melany was scared to death on the way to the airport, she kept wondering who her real family was and if they could shift and if maybe she would be able to find them. She also kept thinking about the family she had known her entire life and wondered if they would try to contact her or at least think about her. She wondered what they would tell their friends, she wondered what they would do to her room and the things she left behind (they didn't let her take everything). Melany's adoptive parents may have pushed her to succeed and pushed her to be the perfect daughter by not paying attention to her after she turned twelve, but she still loved them and missed them. She even missed E.T., her one friend she had kept throughout the life she had known, her only sibling; she hoped he would miss her and think of her.
Marissa drove Melany to the airport. She told her nanny goodbye, the only person who had helped her out that week, and headed to her new life.
