- Peace and Quiet. Noise makes my head ache. And besides, is it wrong to like a rare treat like this, especially in a school full of animals. Literally.
- Reading. I, for one, believe in learning something new everyday. And where else to learn something new from books and reading them?
- Cool weather. When it's hot, its very uncomfortable. So I'd rather it be cold.
- Windy weather. Don't you just love the cool breeze going through your hair, or feathers?
- Heights. I dont' know. I just love the heights and the vertigo. And the free fall.
- Speed. I may not look like it, but I'm a speed demon. I just love the feel of adrenaline running through my veins.
- Doing something. From running to practicing to studying. As long as I don't feel like I'm wasting my time, then I'm alright.
- Running. It clears my head when I need time to think. And it's easier to do in human form than flying.
- Flying. It puts together all the things I like, from speed, to heights, to open spaces. It's a wonderful thing.
- Open spaces. Big blue sky. Vast grassy plains. Altogether a wonderful world. How can anything compare to that? Especially those things you call tiny places.
- Observing. Because I don't like missing anything, if you don't mind. Especially the little things in life.
- Sweets. There are some things that I like in life that need no explanation. Sweets are one of them.
- Coffee. Especially the cold and sweet type. I personally don't like the bitter taste, but the caffiene is good for me. At least when I'm trying to do my night reading.
- Daytime. I don't know. Have you tried working without light?
- Clouds. How can you not like the big fluffy things in the sky?
Dislikes: (at least 10)
- Spicy food. I just don't like it.
- Being forced. Do you see strings or something? Well, that's because I'm no one's puppet.
- Annoyingly bright colors. They blind me. They burn my eyes. Especially the neon colors.
- Getting sick. I can barely move when I'm sick. Or breathe. Or generally do anything.
- Secrets. I believe in honesty is the best policy. So keeping secrets is like not being honest.
- Lies. Because that's dishonesty at its worst. But I dislike secrets more.
- Alcohol. I hate drunks. I hate drinking that stuff. I just hate it, okay.
- Rain. Because I can't do anything outside when it's raining.
- Cramming. It means one of two things. Either the deadline is near and I haven't done much on it yet or there are too many things that I couldn't focus much on it yet. Neither of which I like.
- Waiting. It's a complete waste of time. And I hate wasting my time.
- Stating the obvious. It's the obvious. Why would it need stating?
- Arrogant people. They act as if they know everything. They don't. I do. Well, maybe not yet.
- Sleeping in. Another complete waste of time and sunlight, which I rather like.
- Being ignored. Well, who likes being ignored? Especially when I have something important to say.
- Messiness. I understand a little mess here and there, but complete chaos? I would never let it happen, especially to my things.
Fears: (At least 3)
- Small spaces. Funny on how all my fears come from the same incident.
- Blood.
- Feeling weak.
[/li][/ul]
Strengths: (At least 3)
- Focused. When I want something, I will do everything in my power to get it. Or understand it. Or whatever. As long as I have a goal, I'm determined to see it through. No matter what.
- Instinctive. Being a shifter means a stronger set of instincts. I learned long ago not to mess with them, and they haven't messed with me yet. Or ever for that matter.
- Quick-thinker. I treat everything with cool logic, so I could think of a good and reasonable answer to any action or situation.
- Quick reflexes. It's not natural, but I developed it from years of practice and exercise.
- Diligent. I may not be the most intelligent, but I'm sure I'm quite diligent and hardworking, especially when it comes to my school work.
Weaknesses: (At least 3)
- Sarcastic. Not my fault I react in sarcasm even though I don't really mean to. It's just, when I think people around me are being stupid, I can't help but react that way.
- Cold. Cool, distant, aloof. I've been called all of these and more. I'm just not that expressive.
- Calm. Nothing usually fazes me. My reaction to most things that would either anger or scare someone is to face it with a calm facade and cool reason.
- Distrustful. I suppose this was due to my upbringing, that's why I tend to be cold and sarcastic to everyone I meet.
- Impatient. I hate waiting, and unless you have a good reason to make me wait, you can't make me.
Overall:
Calm, cool, collected. These are the traits that would describe Kai Archer perfectly. Nothing ever seems to faze him, maybe except his fears if one was able to make Kai face them. Other than that, he's able to face any other situation with hsi cool logic and calm reason. It seems like nothing can anger him or sadden him, he neither raises his voice nor sheds tears, at least to everyone's knowledge. But he probably knows how, since he is trying to learn everything he can while he's in school, reading book after book, memorizing line after line. He actually knows a lot of things, though he rarely voices out what he knows. Unless you asked him, you would never know what he knows because when he's asked, he answers honestly and fully. Or you're really stupid and said something obvious, in which he will talk in a sarcastic manner. In fact, whenever he talks, his words often have a sarcastic edge to them, even though he isn't really sarcastic.[/blockquote]
He's a hard worker, never giving up when he decided his goal. Always working harder to achieve his goal. Nothing can stop him when he wants to achieve it. That's why, even though he isn't the brightest, he has good grades thanks to his diligence. His diligence is also seen in his things, as he likes to always keep them neat and orderly. This can also be seen in his bird form, keeping his feathers neat all the time, especially after a flight.
Despites his cool facade, he's actually an adrenaline junkie. Maybe it's because of his other form or because of it that he developed that other form. Either way, he loves the thrill, the rush, the fun of it all. He especially loves anything to do with heights, being able to see the wide world makes him calm and happy, a sight you would rarely see on his face since he's always so cold and distant. It's not obvious to anyone, but he's really into extreme sports, especially those that are high and fast. These make him act as if he's five again, energetic, happy, everything that he tries not to be.
Kai absolutely hates wasting his time, thinking that he has better things to do than just sit around all day, day-dreaming or something as foolish as that. He'd rather spend his time studying or maybe simply learning something new, because not all knowledge comes from books. He can learn a lot of things by simply observing his surroundings. But of course, while he's observing his surroudings, he can do several things at once, like maybe running or memorizng something while watching the clouds pass by or the flowers blooming. Or maybe a nap, as long as it doesn't take too long.

Celebrity Play By: Gaspard Ulliel
Appearance:
Kai stands at about five and a half feet and weighs a little over 120 pounds. He's a little small for his age and he's probably going to stay small, just always under six feet and always on the light side. It's probably got something to do with being a bird, at least that's what he thinks, and so he doens't mind much. And even though he eats more than most people of his age, he never seems to get fat. He definitely has a fast metabolism, which gives him lots of energy throughout the day. He uses this energy in different exercises, like running around or climbing trees, so he's has a lean body, not very big and bulky like body-builders, but enough to have muscles, especially for his arms, even though he does'nt do any weight lifting at all, if you don't count the pull up on branches. Despite his size, he's quite speedy and could easily keep up with people who have longer legs than him.
He has a pale complexion, even though he loves going out as often as possible. When he does go out, he tends to turn pink when he stays out for too long or if the sun is too hot. He likes wearing button-up shirts and long pants, just because they're easy to put on and off. He rarely wears shirts, only muscle shirts or sleeveless ones if the weather is too hot for him to handle. He also likes wearing rubber shoes. As you can see, Kai is a casual type of guy, though he can dress up for the occassion, he doesn't have any occasion to dress up for so he doesn't bother.
He has dark brown eyes, almost like dark chocolate many say. Unlike most people, they aren't easy to read even though they are the windows to his soul. He isn't the type to wear his feelings on his sleeves, so to speak. So his eyes, even though they seem like warm chocolate, can seem rather harsh and cold. He has thin lips, which often show his emotions. He would usually wear a questioning frown or a proud smirk, but more often than not, it's always in a small smile, at times too small for others to notice. He has short black hair that he's trying to grow with little success. Often times, it covers his face, much to his annoyance and won't sit still long enough.
As a bird, he's very elegant and neat. His whole body is covered in black feathers except for the part right under his beak. His feathers are always orderly, as he keeps them that way when he transforms. His eyes are the same dark brown, which is odd, even for a bird like him. As a bird and human, he carries himself with a certain grace found usually when he's moving or flying.
...history
Parents:
Liam Archer (43|environmentalist|father)
Tanya Archer (39|accountant|mother)
Siblings:
Vincent Archer (20|college student|older brother)
Eliza Archer (13|middle schooler|younger sister)
Kai Nathaniel Archer. He knew that Nathaniel is French for God's gift. As for Kai, his mother had a close friend who was named Kai and so it was given to him. Born in London, England, like the rest of his siblings, Kai came from a middle class family. There was nothing much special about them, except that all of them were also shifters. That's why he was able to become one, simply because the genes of his parents passed on to him. His father was a lion and his mother was a lioness, so for some reason, they were a perfect match. His brother was a wolf and his sister was a fox. And he was a bird, and proud of it.
Since he's the second child in the family, there are times that he has to work harder than his siblings just to get noticed. Not that his parents didn't love him, but when he was born, it was a difficult time since his mother was still very young and was studying while his father was in and out of work. Not to mention that he was the second child and they could barely take care of the first. Soon enough those hard times came to pass and that was about when they had their third and last child.
His brother is naturally talented and smart to boot. If he had a pack, he would be the alpha, by the way he struts himself around. He's always so confident and it gived Kai an inferiority complex at times. Not so much now, but back then, it was awful. His sister on the other hand is sneaky, like the fox she was. Actually, it was no surprise to Kai that she turned into a fox with her sneaky attitude, passing Kai the blame all the time. So to the family, he was either the one no one noticed or the one that gets the blame. It's not easy being him.
It was worse when he was thirteen and his family assumed he was shifting for the first time. No one knew what to expect from him since he was either trouble or nothing at all. And with the rest of the family being large carnivorous mammals, they had to take all precautions neccessary. So like my brother I was locked in a room on my thirteenth birthday. Nothing happened. The same thing happened for several days. Weeks. Months. His family was getting impatient and scared because they'd rather get it over with than suspense. They became angry and ansty. They nearly locked him up in the room for days, close, but not quite. They did threaten him enough times though.
On his fourteenth birthday, he transformed. Naturally he was in the room and he was in pain. His shift was more painful than the rest of his family since he was not transforming into a mammal but a bird instead. The whole process was bloody and painful and left him week. And albiet claustrophobic.
And now in the academy, he's doing his best to step up and get out of the shadows. He's doing his best to get good grades, the best in fact. He now enjoys transforming, being one of the few things that makes him happy. He's not very trusting, seeing as he was locked up by his own family. He may be distant and cold, but maybe he can change.
...connecting human to animal
[/li][li]Good eyesight. I've always had good eyesight. How could I read through a lot of books and still not need glasses? Or see things at a distance? Or watch the little things that most humans would need a magnifier?
[/li][li]Black hair. For some reason, my black hair transferred to my animal counterpart. Not that I don't mind, of course.
[/li][li]Loner. I admit I'm not one for socializing, and so are the birds of prey.
[/li][li]Love for speed, heights, and open spaces. You know what, I'm not gonna bother explaining these. It's too obvious.
[/li][li]Love for freedom. Do you think birds like being locked up in cages? They don't. The same goes for me.
[/li][li]Graceful. At least when I'm moving around. Have you seen how birds fly? They're always graceful. Especially when they glide, dive, and swoop in mid-air.

Lucian let out a sigh of relief though his relief was not audible. He knew she wouldn't answer in her state at the moment. By the way she's acting, it seems that the potion is reaching its peak since she couldn't recognize him though his voice was definitely different, being half-veela and all. Also, there was no mistaking his tone of concern to her. No one would dare do that to her in her previous state, being angry and all. He was fairly sure only the brave and stupid would dare approach her when she's like that. And those she considers close. Even though their relationship is barely truthful (but truthful nonetheless) and quite rocky, for some odd reason, they were best friends though they seemed to be worlds apart. Ies being brazen and expressive while he was colder than ice. Ha. A play on sounds and words. He thought idly, since Ies and ice sounded the same.
At least it's not illegal. Though the effects of the potion make the people who drink it irrational and prone to hallucinations, they weren't anything that's considered illegal. And so with a flick of his wand, he silently cast two spells consecutively: a shrinking spell and a summoning spell to get back his coin and to let the portrait hole be operational again. Then he faced his friend who started to ask him questions. "Colors?" His tone was sarcastic and inquiring at the same time. He can't help it that he was born that way, his tone always sarcastic though he didn't mean to. But right now, he wasn't sure whether he's really being sarcastic or not. I don't know? Yeah, right. He hates not knowing things, so definitely he would know what he wants and thinks for himself.
"Maybe. Maybe not." He gave a vague answer to her question and statement. He casually shrugged as he watched her as she slowly regain her consciousness. He didn't move even though she approached him and looked a little mad. Like him. A memory flashed in his mind's eye: a man reeking of drugs and alcohol with eyes filled with madness approached him. He held back a shiver as his face turned blank. Not now. Madness was a way of life for him back then, all those years ago. Madness personified in his father. The bastard. He felt fear from remembering the past that doesn't want to be forgotten. He has done everything he can to try and forget, but it refuses to be forgotten. He has done all he could but he could never hide from his past.
A moment later, he heard a soft sigh from his friend. She was already away from him and making herself comfotable on the couch. A giggle or two would leave her lips as if there was something to laugh about even though there's nothing at all in the room except the two of them and the rest of the furniture, neither of which seems funny to Lucian. But I don't usually find the things she finds funny humorous. Another sign of being very different to his friend. He mentally shrugged it off. For a while, there was only silence, except for the occasional giggle or two from Ies. He didn't know whether to find the silence comforting or annoying since he wanted to ask so much from his friend. Actually, he always had something to ask his friend, from her fears to her past, since he assumed the two were related like his were. But he would never ever get a straight answer, or an answer at all, which annoyed him to no ends. So he stopped bothering to ask questions that he knew most probably wouldn't get him an answer, lest he wanted to stay up most of the night plotting a way to make her answer, which was neither good for him nor his relationship with Ies.
"Nothing." That caught his attention in the almost unending silence. He assumed that it was a reply to his question earlier and promptly answered in an affectionately sarcastic tone, "You know better thant to lie to me about that." He was a very observant person, and he would most definitely notice if something was amiss with his friend. And besides, her bag is open and an unmarked potions bottle is also open. Then he put on a smirk before he asked her, "Did you do anything to the library itself?" He was quite fond of the library and he heard that it started from there. And even if it didn't start from there, surely she would correct him or at least comfort him that she didn't actually do anything harmful to his third most favorite place in Hogwarts, the first two being the Slytherin dormitory and the room of requirement.
