...personality
Likes:(at least 10)
- Structure-- As a spontaneous and somewhat unpredictable girl, it may seem odd that Allie likes structure, but as a child, she was brought up in a very structured environment and likes it that way.
- Music-- Allie loves finding music that expresses the way she's feeling at the time; this means she loves expressive, emotional music. Genres of music falls in and out of popularity with Allie at a fast pace; at the moment she's loving Ska bands and indie rock.
- Talkative people-- Though Allie isn't really that much of a talker herself, she loves listening. She could just listen to people for days.
- Reading-- If Allie starts a book, she probably won't do anything (literally, anything; eat, sleep, study... people have to pretty much drag her away from books) until she's finished. Allie is most drawn to fiction and fantasy books.
- Sleeping-- Who doesn't like sleeping? Allie, in particular, loves sleep and tries to get as much of it as she possibly can. Simply put, she's a lazy person, and
- People-watching-- As a psychology major, Allie is very interested in people. She loves simply watching people and making up stories for them or determining their personalities based on body language.
- Tea-- Coffee, in Allie's opinion, is just too bitter. Allie much prefers tea but she is similarly addicted to it the way some people are addicted to coffee; she's very grumpy in the mornings before her cup of tea.
- Philosophy-- It interests her more than anything else; though she hasn't chosen one of her own, she gobbles up most philosophy books, even the boring ones.
- Psychology-- As a psychology major, Allie ought to like psychology. But really, she loves learning more about what she innately and intuitively knows already..
- Cleanliness-- Though she doesn't mind a mess too much, Allie simply prefers things to be clean even if she if often too lazy to clean places herself. This may or may not be a result of her shift; mice are known to be fairly clean and organizational animals.
Dislikes: (at least 10)
- Loud noises-- They scare her.
- Her size-- Allie is a very small person and finds that it's a big inconvenience; she's always first to be chosen to throw around, the last to be chosen for sports, and can barely lift the books she needs for class.
- Math-- It just doesn't click for her; every math class is a challenge for her.
- Being ordered around-- Allie likes to do what she likes, when she likes. She doesn't like being rushed or ordered around because she's not assertive enough to defend herself most of the time.
- Not understanding things-- Allie hates feeling stupid. Especially in math or when someone cracks a sex joke she doesn't get, she'll often get frustrated.
- Not being taken seriously-- What with her size and innocence, Allie is often not taken seriously. She is a fairly carefree girl, so when she's trying to be serious, many times people take it as a joke.
- Her inability to express herself-- Allie has difficulty expressing how she feels with words. She has yet to find a medium of expression that suits her, but has been thinking about taking up a musical instrument.
- Her naivete-- Allie hates being the only one that doesn't get the "That's what she said" jokes or other innuendos and euphemisms that she just doesn't understand. She doesn't like being the only one that hasn't drunk or smoked in her group of friends.
- Her fickleness- As a person that likes stability and structure, Allie often annoys herself with her own fickleness. She wishes she could settle down and stop confusing her personality with those of others and decide on things for sure.
- Easily distracted-- Though not quite ADHD, Allie is pretty much as close as it gets. She hops from subject to subject and often loses people when she's talking because she's skipping around, following her own cluttered thought process.
Fears: (At least 3)
- Heights-- Ever since falling off her roof on a dare when she was ten, Allie has been terrified of heights.
- Needles-- Doctors' visits are a pain for Allie because she usually has to be held down or something when being administered a shot; she just hates needles with a passion.
- Thunder-- This is really an irrational fear for Allie, but whenever storms blows over, Allie becomes panicked and is likely to duck under the nearest desk or hop into the nearest person's arms, Scooby Doo style.
Strengths: (At least 3)
- Observant-- Allie notices little details, both consciously and unconsciously, about people and things that most others wouldn't notice; that that one brick is off-white in stead of white like all the others, that your watch is now a minute slower, that you cut your fingernails-- little, unimportant things for the most part.
- Charming-- It's somewhat difficult to not like Allie. She's a very innocent and little girl who tries hard not to get on people's nerves.
- Well-meaning-- Allie really is a very kind girl. She wants the best for everyone and doesn't hate anybody.
Weaknesses: (At least 3)
- Naive-- She hasn't experienced much evil in the world, and is consequentially quite naive.
- Physically Weak-- Being so small and thin, Allie is probably the last candidate for "World's Strongest Woman". She isn't very athletic, and has difficulty lifting things that may seem light to others, like books or boxes.
- Gullible-- Allie will believe almost anything you tell her as long as you make it sound emotional.
Overall: [400 words minimum]
Allie, overall, is a very innocent girl. She grew up in a more or less average, if not somewhat sheltering, environment. She hasn't been exposed to much in her life-- she knows basically nothing about sex, has never done drugs, has never seen more violence than what her parents allowed her to see on television or movies, and has never really lost someone dear to her. She's an optimist and often has difficulty with accepting the fact that not all people are as innocent and polite as her; she tries to see the best in people at all times. Allie can seem a little ignorant because she just doesn't know much about the world yet-- but she's always really and willing to learn; she doesn't act like she knows everything.
Probably her most outstanding trait is Allie's empathy. She can just slip into peoples' thought processes like a new pair of shoes. For example, she can understand the mindsets of criminals or victims when given history or background. She is also easily persuaded to do stupid things when people appeal to her emotions; give her any old sob story and she'll lend you that hundred dollars you need for your "dying aunt" because she'll automatically put herself in your position. She is a poor judge of character, which may seem out of place considering her empathy, but Allie understands people so well that all actions can seem justified to her if you can just shed the right light on it and put her in the right mindset. She's often taken advantage of because of this. Unfortunately, this empathy leaves her quite confused about who she is herself; she's spent her life exploring the mindsets of others for so long that she's not quite sure of who she is. She hops between philosophies and beliefs quickly.
Allie responds better to emotion than to logic. Sure, she holds logic in high regard, but when faced with a logical argument versus an emotional one, she'll almost always respond to the emotional one. Her first instinct is to go with emotion, but when she spends a while thinking about it she will usually come to a logical conclusion eventually, but rarely does Allie ever spend that much time thinking about things. She lives in the moment, trying to have as much fun as possible. Allie is also very spontaneous; she acts on the spur of the moment. She talks and acts before thinking, which occasionally gets her in trouble beside her harmless intentions.
Though not exactly quiet, Allie usually prefers to be listening to people rather than talking. She finds people fascinating and is thus a very good listener. She gives people her undivided attention and makes them feel special; Allie finds that people love to talk about themselves and is always happy to listen. This makes her the perfect audience and shoulder to cry on, which often leads her to be the designated secret-keeper in her group of friends. She is, on the other hand, uncomfortable talking about herself. Partly because she isn't very well spoken and often says things she doesn't mean because she's trying to say something completely different.
From a young age, Allie held the "golden rule" in very high regard; treat others the way you would be treated. She tries to adhere strictly to this rule at all times, no matter what philosophy she's trying out. She's a very kind person, and though it's true that she slips in and out of different mindsets, she is innately a very sweet, caring person. She always tries to be kind and friendly to people, and when she has a problem of her own she'll probably bottle it up until she blows up at someone in frustration, a second after which she'll apologize profusely and be completely mortified. The girl is an absolutely horrible liar and has pretty much given up on lying entirely.
...appearance
x x
Celebrity Play By: Darla Baker
Appearance: [400 words minimum]
The first thing one would notice about Allie's appearance is her apparent delicacy. She is quite short-- just over five feet-- and fairly thin at that, weighing 97 pounds. She is almost constantly ghost-pale; no matter how much sun she gets, all she ends up with is a sunburn.
Her features are delicate and the only feature that really stands out are her eyes. They are a light green-gray that seem to change depending on lighting or what she's wearing and are fringed by dark but thin eyelashes, giving them the appearance of being larger than they actually are. Her eyebrows are dark and only enhance the effect of having eyes that are larger than average. The rest of her facial features are more or less average; her nose is thin and slightly turned up and her mouth is rather small. Thanks to years of braces, Allie's teeth are more or less straight, though they certainly aren't perfect. Allie's skin is smooth and usually free of blemishes; as a mouse shifter, she creates her own vitamin C, which is known to clear skin; her smooth skin may or may not be a result of this. Her eyesight is poor, but she insists that she doesn't want contacts. She has glasses but only really wears them to class, plays, or sports.
Allie's hair is long and dark brown, and reaches a few inches above her waist. It's wavy and usually in varying degrees of untidiness. Allie is lazy when it comes to her hair and doesn't like spending much time brushing or straightening it and consequently, it is usually just kept up in a sloppy bun or ponytail.
If Allie was taller, she would probably be described as leggy. As it is, she is quite short, but still has comparably long legs. Her figure is boyish, and is still missing those "curves" she was supposed to get a while ago. Her feet are small-ish and usually turned ever so slightly inwards; Allie's slightly pigeon-toed. Her posture, though not poor, is hardly something to boast about. When she gets lazy or moody, her posture is noticeably worse, and Allie's body language is very indicative of how she's feeling at the moment even if her words or actions aren't.
Fashion is definitely not a big deal to Allie; she usually just goes for comfort when shopping, sticking to jeans and T-shirts. She finds dresses and skirts a little uncomfortable, but owns a few pairs just in case. Though her wardrobe is largely very basic, Allie does have a few random "statement pieces"; her crazy eighties jacket, her weird bohemian bag, her funky necklace... Allie's style is very random. It's pretty much impossible to predict what she'll find for herself next.
When talking with people, Allie tends to act a lot different based on a bunch of different things; who she last talked with, how she's feeling. But she's usually friendly; she generally gives off a fairly good first impression to people. She tends to talk with her hands a lot and is constantly moving them around when trying to describe something that she can't describe with words. She uses a lot of figurative language and strange metaphors when speaking as a way of trying to get her point across.
In mouse form, Allie is a deer mouse. She is about six inches long from tail to nose and weighs around an ounce. She is a greyish-brown with patches of darker fur along her back and has a tail about the same length as her body. Her stomach is lighter than her back, and is a cream color.[/size]
...history
Parents: Katherine Alethia Walker, James Lee Winter
Siblings: None
[400 words minimum]
Allie grew up in a conservative, Christian neighborhood. It was the kind of place where all of the lawns were perfectly manicured, all the houses were the same shade of beige, and all of the residents were the same shade of boring. All of the residents had house parties and welcoming parties, had tea together, and were the picture of friendly neighbors. But they were all secretly envious and conniving, the kinds of people who sat at their windows with binoculars, peering into the neighbor's house in hopes of finding something scandalous.
The Walkers family was the picture of average; James, a CEO, and Katherine, a stay-at-home mom, had Allie. Allie was a sweet, charming girl from the outset, and possibly the only female in the neighborhood that anybody genuinely liked. She got on well with other children and played nicely at all times, showing generosity and kindness even at a young age. She was the darling of the neighborhood.
She went to a private school where the curriculum was strict and the teachers were stricter. She spent her adolescence in this private school, where she was pretty much sheltered from everything bad in the world; sex, drugs, violence... she read about it in textbooks and occasionally saw it on television shows that her parents didn't like her watching. It all seemed like a made up problem that never actually affected anyone. She was heavily sheltered by her controlling mother for her entire life; she tried to repress Allie's evident empathy for people by sheltering her from bad news and injustice. Her mother didn't let her decide much for herself; she had already decided her career path for her, which college she was going to... she had raising a child down to a mathematical formula. Allie's own interests were never factored in at any point.
Allie was a studious girl, and tried very hard to be the perfect daughter to her strict parents. She repressed her will to be silly and free and studied; she studied so well that she ended up skipping sixth grade. Her parents were quite proud of their child, and their neighbors were envious of the perfect child; it gave them nothing to gossip about.
That is, until she turned twelve. The day after her twelfth birthday, she noticed that in stead of getting taller like she was supposed to, she seemed to be shrinking. Alarmed, she had tried to measure herself. To her horror, she realized that she was actually shrinking. She was already a very petite girl, and couldn't spare any height. For the rest of the day she felt herself shrinking even more. Telling her mother that she felt ill, she retreated to her room and watched herself shift. The whole process took several hours, but changes were evident. At first, it was just her size; she was shrinking at a rapid and alarming rate. Her facial features began to contort as well, her nose slowly moving. Up to that point, her shift was accompanied by just discomfort. But a half of an hour in, the pain began as her bones moved and shifted inside of her. Her eyes were painfully transitioning to a mouse's colorblindness, and for a good hour she couldn't even open her eyes to see what was happening to the rest of her. She only knew pain and discomfort until she finally realized that the pain was gone, leaving just a strange feeling of being severely overwhelmed. Allie opened her eyes, shocked to realize that she could no longer distinguish colors; all she could see was black, white, and blue. And everything seemed so big... she felt like Alice, caught in a strange and familiar Wonderland.
For the rest of the day, Allie explored her room, growing accustomed to her new mousy self and wondering if her transformation was permanent. As night fell, she began to shift back.
About halfway through her shift back into a human, her mother walked in on her and promptly fainted. She rushed to get her husband and showed him the abomination that had somehow replaced their darling, obedient daughter. James was disturbed, but not shocked. Sighing, he told Katherine about his grandmother, who had been a shifter as well. He said that the gene skipped some generations and hoped that it would skip over Allie.
Unable to deal with the fact that her daughter was a freak, Katherine left that night to go elsewhere, leaving Allie and James alone in a neighborhood full of gossipy, judgmental people. James had no idea what to do with his daughter; how could he possibly deal with her? For a year he continued to send her to her private school until the stress became unbearable for the both of them. During this year, James allowed Allie to be more herself. She hanged out with friends and got her first real taste of the real world, and the two became closer. After she finished eighth grade, he made the difficult decision to send her to Shifter Academy.
...connecting human to animal
[One Paragraph Minimum (Can be point form)]
One of the easiest recognizable connections between Allie and her mouse shift is her size. She is very small for a human, which, she guesses, makes it easier for her to shift into something so small.
In addition to the size, Allie also shares a few other similarities to mice. She is constantly eating and will pretty much gobble up anything edible within a mile radius. Her quick metabolism allows her to eat a lot and still not gain much, and Allie eats the same amount of, if not more, food as average people. She is also somewhat colorblind like a mouse and is often mixing up reds and greens. As a mouse, the only colors she can see are blue, black, and white.
Allie is also a vegetarian-- both because the idea of eating an animal is disgusting to her, and because mice pretty much only eat seeds, grain, and bread. Allie also has a weird affinity for bread, which may or may not be due to her mouse shift. Aside from Allie's size and quirks, Allie is also mouse-like in her personality; she is social and somewhat quiet.

(Please note that this is for a slave roleplay. Thanks!)
Jane sat in the corner of the cool, concrete cell, hugging her knees to her chest. She was the picture of malnourishment; the bones along her stomach and back could easily be counted; the paleness of her skin told the story of a girl who hadn't seen proper daylight for years; dark circles ringed her eyes. Perhaps this was why it had been so long since a customer had come along; who wanted such a sickly slave? Perhaps it was a good thing; the scars along her arms and legs were beginning to fade now. But this seclusion, this hopelessness that came with slavery... it was unbearable. At least with a master she had the chance to read or even just be distracted from the mind-numbing repetitiveness of the life of a slave.
Jane's mind wandered, and she began thinking of the latest book she'd read; it had been a history book. Jane had absorbed the information like a sponge, and now she was desperately trying to remember every last word. She'd flipped open the long book to a page in the middle and painstakingly began reading; Jane was only able to read at about a sixth grade level and the many long words confused Jane-- but after a few paragraphs, Jane realized with shock what the topic was. Jane had never gone to a proper school, knew very little about mathematics or history, and it came to a shock to read that before slaves were legal, just a few hundred years before, people had owned slaves as well. Jane had always thought upon the past as a wonderful time when the economy was fine, where nobody owned slaves, where the government wasn't completely corrupt and full of self-righteous and selfish bastards.
Jane had read with horror that just centuries before, black people had been kept as slaves and forced to work on farms. They had no rights, and all because of their race. Jane had heard the phrase "history repeats itself" mumbled every once and a while but hadn't fully understood it now. She'd been forced to stop reading at that point, but the book seemed to hint that a war ended slavery for good. Jane supposed this should give her some hope, but it only brought despair; even if this slavery was somehow ended, did that mean that it would just begin again?
Jane ached for that book in her hands again; she had to know what happened after that. Perhaps she would ask one of the older slaves... the thought intimidated her. She didn't like talking to people-- actually, that was a lie. Jane loved talking to people; too much for her liking. She was afraid that she would become attached to someone she talked with, and in her experience anybody she became attached to either died or hurt her. No, Jane decided; she would just wait for another master to come and then try to find another history book.
Jane sighed, closing her eyes. She didn't know what time it was but she could only guess that it was somewhere around noon because she could faintly feel a twinge of hunger; she hadn't eaten breakfast, too tired to get out of her cell and force some mush down her throat. As expected, the door of her cell opened and she tiredly stood up, her body sore. She felt tired and unwilling to face the masses of slaves, miserable. They were all the same, they all had that dead and empty look in their eyes. Quietly mumbling a Bible verse to herself, Jane joined the lines of dirty, broken slaves trudging towards the cafeteria.
