...basic character information
Birth Name: Heidi Belle Valentine
Nickname
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: Junior
Birth date: December 29th
Program: Bachelor of Arts
Major: Instrumental Music
Major Explanation: Heidi grew up in a household that had been heavily musicaly influenced; from it always playing throughout the house to her parents occassionaly picking up an instrument themselves. She has a natural ear for sound, both as a human and an animal. Collies are known for their high intelligence, and being able to listen for the slightest spoken word command from the farmers while herdering to execute an action, even at longer distances away. They've also patience, which is important when learning to play any kind of instrument as nothing comes easy! She's too selfconcious to actually sing, so she plays.
Animal Identity: Domestic canine; Border Collie

Likes:(at least 10)
- Playing the piano -- it's her whole life, and she treasures it.
- The beach -- nothing calms her down or offers a place for her to think better than those crashing waves.
- Socializing -- she's a social person, and loves to talk once she's comfortable around someone. She's regretfully naturally obediant.
- The color pink
- Abstract art -- anything different to look at, or even read, to get a muse from.
- Reading -- mostly horror novelas, but the occassional tear buster too.
- Friends
- Warm vanilla brown sugar -- she's very attached to this smell, for some reason.
- Sunlight -- she won't admit to anyone that she's slightly afraid of the dark; dog's visions aren't as strong in poor light, and she hates not knowing what could be around the corner.
- Collecting things
Dislikes: (at least 10)
- Being alone
- Liars
- Lack of common sense
- Animal cruelty
- Messing up -- collies need to be accurate the first time, and mess-ups are not only time consuming, but extremely frustrating.
- Staying idle, bored.
- Sleeping in -- a day slept in, is a day wasted.
- Cowards
- Being away from those she cares about
- Feeling helpless
Fears: (At least 3)
- Lygophobia -- fear of being in a dark place
- Atychiphobi -- fear of failing; she's a bit of a perfectionist.
- Athazagoraphobia -- fear of forgetting, either how to shift, or how to play her instruments.
Strengths: (At least 3)
- Cooperation -- Heidi works well with others, as is natural to the herding breed.
- Stamina -- She's fast, and doesn't tire easily once she gets going and could go for quite some time.
- Intelligence -- A natural learner, she picks up on new skills quickly, and has learned not to doubt her gut feeling about people.
Weaknesses: (At least 3)
- Trust -- although she's quick about listening to her gut, Heidi still trusts people too easily and is easily manipulated. She'll not make the same mistake twice, however.
- Possessional -- she doesn't have a problem sharing things, but when it comes to her personal instruments from home, she'll bite first and ask later if they've been touched due to her uncanny sense to guard things.
- Gullible -- Heidi has no reason to believe she's being lied to, cheated, or misused in some way until it actually happens. Ties in with her trust issues.
Overall: [400 words minimum]
There's a few more details about Heidi than meets the eye than the usual happy-go-lucky assumption that goes with her animal breed. The first thing being that she absolutely can't stand her own natural ability to take orders. Border collies take direction without hesitation, even if it contradicts their own self wants. Like a trained soldier. Back at home, if she's told to clean her room (for example) and chooses to not do so, Heidi will send herself on a guilt trip for not listening, and convince herself she's done something wrong and result to sulking until she either A) eventually gets over it, or B) ends up complying anyways.
She's also a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to doing something she's set her mind to. Such as learning to play a new piece. If there's one note a little flat, she missed a rest, or accidentally kicked the tempo up too high, Heidi will stop at nothing to fix the problem at hand until it's perfect. She's not OCD, however, and could care less how clean something is, but when it comes to performing a task, the girl wants it done right to a T. If she can help it, on the first try. If she fails at something, no doubt Heidi will eventually become obsessive over getting it right if it occurs over a long period of time.
When it comes to people, Heidi will generally fit in with any crowd as long as they're interesting. She's not one to hold a grudge against people for too long, but what the girl does have is a long memory, and it won't soon be forgotten. She doesn't like to jump around with social groups too much, however, as she tends to be a somewhat clingy type of girl and to have a sense of belonging; not a nomad. Doesn't mean she won't talk and hang out with various blends of species and people, but the friends she holds closest to her are the ones she won't change. Unless, that is, something changes in their friendship. Generally, she gets over things quickly if it leads to a small argument or something though, and more than likely will come running right back to the person. A major downfall to her personality.
As far as sense of style goes, anything "old to new" catches her eye in seconds. Her favorite being retro clothes, vintage, or anything regarding sunglasses. She doesn't quite understand why she likes sunglasses so much, mainly aviators, since they impair her vision; which is exactly why she doesn't like the dark. Assuming it just has to do with the style and trend of it, the girl always keeps a pair handy somewhere close by, or within easy access. The collie in Heidi carries over a patient trait, thankfully for those times when it takes around seven tries to get something done. She doesn't mind having to sit down for a while and have to figure things out before getting a start on it. In her book, she's got all the time in the world.

Heidi's favorite part about herself would most certainly be her hair. She likes to keep it at it's natural rusty reddish-brown whenever possible, but sometimes will add highlights here and there. Just to make it pop a little bit. It's long, and naturally wavy which is both a blessing and a curse. She hates waking up and having to go through war with her brush and hair, and the process is usually painful. If it's one thing she envies, it's people with straight hair or those that don't have this problem. Like boys. Other than that, though, it's pretty manageable. Heidi likes to keep her bangs parted over her left side, but if the 'Lion Mane' as she likes to call it (the volume speaks for it's self), doesn't want to flip to that side, she'll just throw it back into a pony tail or something that doesn't require too much effort.
Her eyes are a speckled hazel color, a dark black-like line around the rims that fade into a bronze, and eventually a green at their inner most center. She doesn't like her eyes too much -- as most girls tend to complain -- and wishes she had just brown eyes. It sounds odd, but she's always been a fan of the plainer eye colors; they mystify her. She's around average, as far as weight goes. Ranging around 125lbs, give or take a few, and reading about 5'6 when she stands flat footed. Heidi has freckles on her face that dot around the bridge of her nose, and the apples of her cheeks. They're hard to see unless right up close, but this trait carries over into her canine form.
While shifted into a border collie, the most dominant pelt tone is an ivory-like white. Her fur coat isn't as long as her human hair is, but it's long enough to not get too dirty easily. Her right eye is splotched with a black tone, and the other side of her face is freckled with these smaller black flakes here and there as well as on her back. She looks more like a combination of a dalmation and a collie, rather than a pure bred, but rest assured there's nothing running through her blood stream besides that good ol' collie blood. And the human. Her ears flop over and have longer bits of fur attached to the ends, very silky to the touch.
...history
Parents: Victoria and Douglas Valentine
Siblings: N/A
[400 words minimum]
As previously mentioned, Heidi grew up in a house hold geared around music. The walls of their house has little musical notes engraved around some of the corners, and there was at least one instrument in almost every room. In the living room was the piano, and it was her absolute favorite. Douglas Valentine, her father, is quite a tall fellow. He towers at an easy 6'1, and slouches a little because of his gangly height. His broad shoulders give him the impression that he holds an aggressive, dominant personality. This isn't really the case, though. Douglas is kind, and very carefree. Very hippie like, if you will. His hair is long for a man's, and he keeps it tied at the back of his neck with a hair tie, though he's constantly seen brushing stray strands out of his eyes. He -should- have glasses, but Douglas refuses to wear them unless it's for reading music he hasn't memorized yet. He's in his late fourties, and keeps a bristly beard around his chin. Very happy and friendly, Doug's the kind of man you'd be able to go to for anything which is why Heidi finds it so easy to talk to him. Most girls she knows tend to be closer to their mothers, but for this reason alone, she has a closer relationship with her father. His favorite instrument to play is the guitar.
Victoria, on the other hand, is the more serious out of the two adults. They both carry the shifting gene, but she took after the more serious aspects of a collie. She's very loyal to her husband, and focuses more on getting the job done when it comes to work rather than 'having fun while doing it'. However serious she may be, she does still enjoy muscial influences throughout the house but makes no time for herself to actually sit down and practice. A working mother, she puts in long hours at work and usually comes home to do some more work after that -- never too spent to set aside her mothering duties. Victoria is on the shorter scale, which helps balance out Heidi's own height. When standing on her flat feet, Victoria is 5'7 or so, but she has the appearance of height considering she's always in heels for work. Her view is to dress to impress, and she's tried getting Heidi to see this as well, as to Victoria impressions are very important. Her hair is very much like Heidi's, though she cut it short; just above the collar bone to keep up with easy maintanence.
Heidi can still remember the very first time she discovered... herself. It was an average day, probably just like everyone else's who'd gone through the same thing. She was out and about with her mother and father at the super market, just grabbing the usual food to bring back home. Y'know, chips, soda, various meats and dairy products. It was her birthday, but Heidi was never really big on celebrating events like that. The only birthday she was really looking forward to was her 18th, and at the time, she still had a ways to go. Regardless, she was walking down the food asiles with her parents, grabbing various items off of the shelves and shoving them into the shopping cart. No big deal. Before long, they were at the cash out, and heading towards the car with bags galore of food she'd be able to stuff her face later with. As the family was walking across the parking lot, however, the turf field across the street caught her attention. Well, once turf field. It had been remodeled for a wool farm a few months ago, and Heidi had never really paid much attention to it. Until now, that is. A flock of lambs were idly munching away at the grass, besides this one in particular. It was all alone, and wandering further and further from the others as it bleated merrily to it's self.
What happened next was something Heidi wouldn't forget so long as she so lived.
Her arms and legs began to tremble simultaneously as something triggered in the back of her mind, a raging surge of hormones being let lose and set free into her body. As the combination between chemical and hormone mixtures raced throughout her blood stream, momentary loss of vision happened. She saw nothing but black for a few seconds as she stood there, frozen in the middle of the sunny parkinglot with grocery bags in her arms. All at once, the bags dropped, and spilled their contents out onto the paved streets as her bones made this sickly painful 'popping' sound. She recognized this later to be them actually breaking and shrinking. None the less, at the time she'd let out an ear splitting scream, somewhere between the sound of a human and the shriek of a kicked dog, as her bones shifted and rearranged themselves. Fur folices appeared out of no where all over her skin, the ivory white and black spots dominating her body in moments.
Her father had made the motion to run over and comfort her, but her mother had kept him back, being more cautious of the dangerous state of her daughter. The both of them knew it was going to happen eventually, but wasn't sure what time today it was going to occur. And so her parents had stood by, helpless as the change seemed to go on for hours. When, in reality, it'd only taken a few seconds before they witnessed Heidi dashing off towards the turf field, running across the street as a collie and a human no more. Luckily for them, no one had seen their daughter take the shift -- and they counted each and every lucky star they had for this. Careless on their part to bring her out in public on her birthday, no?
None the less, the teenager had raced across the street as the unbearable pumps of adrenaline sank into her mind. Her focus rested on nothing but the lone lamb that was growing ever closer, and the desire to do nothing more than to get it back where it belonged. Before long, Heidi had fallen into the instinct of the collie she'd become, and seemlessly herded the straggler back with the others. All was running more or less smoothly until the farmer came over to shoo her away. Needless to say, he's not around anymore, and a launch at the jugular stands as proof. Victoria and Douglas had enough sense to chase after her when she'd gone off to the farm, and were there to take their only child's tired, spent, and bloody body away from the scene of the crime before any witnesses came around.
...connecting human to animal
[One Paragraph Minimum (Can be point form)]
Some characteristics Heidi shares with her inner collie is the fact that she's naturally inclined to help people. She feels as though she should always be out there, doing something to help those find their way along and give a helping hand. And, since the border collie's job is to keep whatever group they're herding together and help the stragglers find their way back, the two are a perfect match up. Both the human and the canine also share their trait for patience when it comes to completeing a task. Losing patience while trying to fetch a stubborn cow or goat could cause lack of focus, and without focus, the animal could get away, which is unacceptable. Without patience, Heidi wouldn't be able to learn to play any of the intruments that she knows how to play now; it takes time and practice to get things right.

Gisselle finally slowed her trot into a crawl, and finally, a dead stop as eyes peered through the various levels of grass at the activity going on. Her mind was more than focused on the hunt at hand, despite her... current situation, and everything felt like she was seeing in high-definition. Lines around the trees were sharp and crisp as each roll of the bark of a tree fell into another one, and the furthest of lady bugs resting on blades of grass seemed close enough to count the spots on, had she the time to do so. Right ear twitched as motion was detected to her right, and she jerked suddenly to see what it was.
Vivian. Just Vivian. Herding her own select choice for the alpha to pick, should he decide to do so. And Zeroth not far off doing the same.
Eyes narrowed in on the feeble yearling elk, her brain already calculating the areas in which she could strike for the most efficient kill if this one proved to be the selection. The legs were scrawny enough to snag and drag down, but unlike humans, there were still three others to knock her mercilessly in the head and kill her, if not turn her into a vegetable, if she managed to grab just one.
The neck was always a given spot to go for, provided the target had no horns to also whack you away with. It looked young, though, and thus was bald of such protruding things. A downfall? Coming in from the side of the neck, one was still in it's peripheral vision. So not the most effective spot.
Such scenarios played throughout Gizzy's mind as she squatted there in grass, eyes growing stark mad with excitement as they darted from one point on the animal to the next. The girl was a warrior at heart and lived for such thrilling, high adrenaline rushes. They kept her alert, and all the more excited about getting the job done.
Eventually, her calculations brought her to decide on attacking from the side of the flank, where her body would be mostly out of the line of vision of the elk, and more or less out of harm's way of the hooves. Worst case scenario? She'd walk away with a bruised hip or something that would heal over time. Maybe a broken rib if things got out of hand. Both things totally acceptable to the female as she eagerly looked up to heed Locarno's howl.
What. "...Him?" Gisselle choked out as she rose from her ready position, heart litterally dropping ten floors and smacking right into the acidic pit of her stomach as the news reached her ears. Her own first cousin picked a complete stranger over herself? Who had been born into the pack, raised to do nothing but honour and stay loyal to it so long as she so lived, and to give her all to Perosia? All that had been tossed into the wind with the arrival of a newbie, and suddenly it wasn't quite so easy to breathe anymore. This was beyond irritation, beyond frustration, beyond sad. Gizzy was practically glowing green with envy.
Illuminating with it, actually.
Lips instantly peeled back over her muzzle some as a thin outline of her teeth could be seen, the skin folding in murderous ways over her snout. All she could do was stand there, and bask in the tub that was her jealousy toward the stranger. He'd managed to take the only thing Gisselle had ever asked for out of the pack, and only within the first hour of actually being acknowledged of his existance in Perosia. Her muscles began to ache with how tightly clenched they were, dark eyes finally landing on Chagrin as they pierced their way towards him, her high definition-adrenaline vision morphing into something similiar to slow motion, and blurry. She saw not the few elk that were still being collected by the herders, nor the sun making it's way over to the west and dragging with it the sunlight. Or even Loco, for that matter. Her focus was on the 'new guy', and he was the only thing within her line of vision that was in clear view. Gizzy was useless now, as far as this hunt went; her skill un-needed for the time being. And she felt useless, too. Dead weight to the pack -- a feeling no member ever wants to feel.
Her tub of jealously soon overflowed into that of loathing. And it didn't take very long.
Gisselle had suddenly lost her appetite.
