Overall:

Daniel is quite a shy teenager and as a result he doesn’t have a lot of friends. Shyness is a trait that interlinks with his animal, the giant panda, which often travel alone rather than in a group. Also due to his shyness is he doesn’t speak a lot. Most of the time, when he’s called upon by one of his teachers to read something to the class they’d generally be shocked as people seem to forget that he can actually talk. This trait also coincides with his animal the giant panda.

Despite being shy, Danny is actually quite driven. Once he sets himself a goal, it can actually get quite tough to discourage him from completing it. He’s also known amongst his teachers as a bit of a perfectionist. This trait only really comes out when he’s doing assignments and homework. He refuses to hand in any homework that is not done to the best of his ability.

There are very few polar opposites between Daniel and the animal he transforms into, a Giant Panda. Loyalty happens to be one of them. If and/or when Daniel does find the one he would never even think about leaving her to look after their children... if he’s still alive anyways. A giant panda however would tap and gap, never returning to help the mother raise its child. This definably will never happen with Daniel.

Due to the death of his mother at a very early age, Danny finds it difficult to ‘love’ some people like his step-mother even though he’s known her for most of his life. This is commonly known as attachment issues but Dan has no idea that he even has this condition and believes that not loving your “mother” is quite normal as he doesn’t know about his real parents yet.

Daniel is a go with the flow sort of guy. He doesn’t lose his temper easily and he’s fairly easy going. As long as the activity his friends are doing isn’t cruel or illegal he’ll gladly join in. This young man is also quite brave. He’ll use his head to find a way to stand up for something that he believes in, in his own semi-silent way. All in all Daniel is a pretty decent bloke, who echos the personality of his animal (the giant panda) almost perfectly with a couple discrepancies.

Appearance: Daniel stands at the all mighty height of four foot eight inches and weighs approximately ninety-five pounds. Before the birth of his brother, Logan, his father would often comment about how he looked too much like his mother for his own good. This comment would get a laugh from Danny and a stern look from his mother, Sophia.

Despite People’s prejudice about Panda’s being fat or ‘obese’ Danny is actually quite a healthy weight for his age. Daniel has an athletic build, but he doesn’t boast it as its just not him. He has his mother’s light brown eyes as well as. His dark, dark brown hair he inherited from his father as well as his aboriginal skin color.

Dan has a semi-athletic build yet he rarely flaunts this. He can often be seem wearing some sort of hoddie with a pair of baggy long pants. This style of clothing had also been his father’s dress stule around the time of his birth. Now I know what you may be thinking upon reading this, neither Danny nor his father Ethan are apart of a gang or were members of a gang at any point in their lives.

When in his animal form he is about half of his regular height. During transformation some of his bones shorten, he feels a bit of dizziness if he’s standing upright and he gains about 200 pounds. While in his animal form the way he signifies aggression is by lowering his head and staring at his opponent, or if he’s close enough, he will swipe one of his paws at them or he may even emit a low pitched growl or bark. To signify submissiveness he will hide the black patches of fur around his eyes with his paws.

His fur is patched with black and white, with two ovals acting as ‘eye patches’ around his light brown eyes. These ‘patches’ are covered to show submissiveness. His paws have thumb like indices which aids him in eating bamboo and it also has five fingers. His tail is about five inches long. In this form his body takes the shape of a typical bear. Black fur is existent on his ears, legs, muzzle, arms, sholders, and around his eyes. His fur is quite thick due to the environmental conditions in which most of his kind lives in.[/size]

Daniel was born thirteen years ago to Sophia and Ethan Smith. At the time of his birth his parents were twenty-one years of age and were looking forward to becoming parents. As most human babies all Danny did was eat, sleep and poo. The only thing is that the Smith’s were not humans but shape-shifters. His mother could change into a Koala his father into a Siberian Huskey. Very few humans actually suspected anything abnormal about the Smith’s.

Dan was only three years old when Sophia was pregnant again. As he was still just a small child he never did understand why his mother’s stomach kept inflating like a balloon. He loved his mother quite a bit in those days. When his little brother Logan was brought home he searched for the mother he loved so much, only to be told when his baby brother was asleep in the Nursery his parents had set up, that his mother was dead. He cried his eyes out that day, the funny thing is that he’d never hear of any of her stories.

That night - while Danny was sleeping – Ethan began organising a home for his two young boys. He found looking at them unbearable, especially Danny who resembled a lot of his dead wife. In the end he called his best friend, Nathan Quin and begged him and his wife to take his children. They accepted, mainly out of guilt for the two boys losing their mother the way they had. The morning after Ethan’s scramble to find a couple willing to adopt Daniel and Logan he met up with Nathan at the park and handed the custody of his two boys to him there. It broke his heart to leave the boys but it hurt his heart even more to stay with them without their mother.

Daniel and his brother - whom was three years his junior – were raised alongside Nathan and Emily’s two children Ryan and Chloe for several years. When Ryan turned thirteen he disappeared the next day. You see, Ryan and Chloe’s mother was a carrier of the shifter gene and somehow Ryan was a shifter so after he sort of murdered his best friend when he changed form he headed off to the Shifter Academy. He didn’t miss Ryan terribly though as the two of them never seemed to get along even though they were supposedly brothers.

While watching over Logan at the park on his thirteenth birthday, he was jumped by a group of bullies from the local high school jumped him. The began to pelt him with punches and after two minuets of enduring the abuse from the older, taller, and stronger adolescent boys he felt his bones shift. Not only that but he felt fur growing all over his body and a loss of self-control. He swiped a black and white furry paw ferociously at the nearest bully before he was attacked by a dog.

He gave chase to the dog that had attacked him and ran until he found himself in an abandoned warehouse. All of a sudden the dog he had given chase to transformed into a man with chocolate brown hair that looked to be in his early thirties. The man told him to relax and how to do as he did, that is how to return to human form. When he was once again human, the man told him what the two of them were and that come September he could attend a school with other teenagers that were just like him.

Little did Daniel know that the man- who had a sparkle in his eye the whole time he was explaining the situation to him and had never taken his eyes off of the boy- was actually his father. Ethan gave him some forms for the school and ruffled the brunet’s hair before running off. This fatherly gesture left standing in the middle of the warehouse completely confused.

When he had snapped out of his confused state he raced back to the playground he had left his brother at. Hoping desperately that the bullies weren’t picking on Logan and that he wouldn’t transform into that ‘alien’ again. He began to attend the Shifter Academy that September.

The giant panda suits Daniel almost perfectly. His dark eyes coincide with that of the giant pandas. Like a panda he’s quite shy and rather quiet (A giant panda only knows 11 sounds, 3 of which are only used while mating). He’s quite good at swimming which is also a strength of the panda’s. He has a carefree personality and enjoys sleeping quite a bit.

Children’s voices shrieked beneath the creaking of a playground’s rusty, old, swings. The air was fresh as if there had been a recent downpour of rain. He felt quite warm, sitting on the old, wooden, bench with peeling dark green paint. A cool north west wind blew through the park but it didn’t affect the overall outdoor temperature due to the day’s humidity.

“Well, well, well... if it isn’t the birthday boy!”

There were deep chuckles emerging from all around him closing in on him as a lion stalked its prey, followed by a pain in his cheek. The deep chuckles belonged to the local high school bullies. More pain rippled through his body like the first as the older, stronger, and taller boys continued to punch him. He had been beaten up several times which had of course built up his endurance to a knock out. Suddenly he felt an anger that had never flowed through his veins before. Now, like most adolescents Danny had been angry before but this anger that was surging through his veins was different. He didn’t know why it was different but it just felt... strange.

“Hey boys why don’t we try out our recently acquired toy out on the birthday boy?”

Little had Danny known that the bullies’ recently acquired ‘toy’ was a tazer. Shortly after the paralyzing electrical current left him, some of his bones began to change shape and in some cases shrink. He felt dizzy and was forced onto all fours. As his bones changed, silky black and white fur erupted all over his body. His dark animal eyes took in the panicked and shocked expressions as his head lowered, his eyes staring at his attackers. Daniel had no control of this alien body as he swiped at the closest of the four bullies.

Suddenly he was attacked by a mass of grey fur. Parts of the fur had a sort of bilious tint to it. It was almost as if this thing didn’t see much daylight. Suddenly this furry animal took off and with his interest in the teenagers’ lost he gave chase. To any human walking the streets the streets they would have seen quite an ungainly Panda giving chase to what appeared to be a Siberian Huskey. He ran through a rather large whole in a metal door and found himself in an abandoned warehouse. Suddenly the dog transformed into a human with chocolate brown hair.

“Relax, kiddo. Its perfectly normal for someone like us to attack whoever is closest at the time of your first shift.”

The man’s face floated in his head as he sat bolt upright. Why did the man that had introduced him to this world of ‘supernatural beings’ seem so familiar to him? Why had he called him kiddo and ruffled his hair? And perhaps the biggest mystery of all what is his name? He looked at the watch that was attached firmly to his wrist it was one in the morning. It was all a dream, or had it not been? He laid down on his four poster bed and rolled over trying to go back to sleep.[/size]
