Shifting and disability

First of all, I am still considering this but I have two related questions before I make my character. What I am considering is giving my character a disability, like being blind; but I wanted the disability to be from an accident and not present in birth.

For shifters the animal form they take, is that form decided on in birth or later in life?

Is having a disability going to be a bad decision for my character to be attending school?

Wonderful question! It is a form that is decided later in life. If you want her to be blind, by all means, make her blind, just know that her animal will also be blind.
