***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming When you're standing there all alone*************** The sun gently filtered threw the trees to the to the leaf litter scattered on the ground below. Its beams dancing like tiny pixies dancing to the summer breeze. Annette lay on a fallen moss covered tree, it was her favorite spot to be in, to just do nothing but think and she had done a lot of it that morning. The wind blew against her cheek as she lay but it just made her sigh out doors was the best place she could be.
She wondered about what had been going on in school and how things seemed to be plodding along nicely for her. Turning she caught sight of a rabbit and jumped down to the ground. The rabbit stopped just as she did she saw its ears twisting as if tried to catch the sounds of any predator that could and would attack it . She heard the sound of her own heart beating hard in her chest as she moved threw the thick green undergrowth in her cougar form, she preferred it sometimes to her human as it gave her freedom to do what she wanted and move how she felt she should.
She squeezed under a tree feeling its rough bark rub against her long slender back her tail waving above her like a thin tan colored flag. She paused watching several people move past where she now crouched and gave a soft growl as her eyes watched them. Nobody seem to notice her ether in human or cougar form but today she didn't care she was happy to be ignored as she sat in the cool grass of the forest.
"Humm" she thought as she shifted back to her human form still laid in the grass looking up at the canopy of green leaves above her. Her now blue eyes looked at the trees around her as she gave a deep sigh "I like this " she said softly though inside she wished some one was there to share it with her. But as of yet she hadn't been seen , didn't help she was new to the school.
She knew better and as such decided she could wait she knew the right person would come along but for now she was enjoying just laying under the trees in the cool of the morning air against her bare arms and legs as she lay. *************** tag: Any one notes: notes outfit: credit: Kady from Caution 2.0

It'd been at least four days since she'd last been out here.
Which was much too long, considering. Heidi, currently standing on the school grounds just outside the main door, had been meaning to come out here sometime earlier in the week. She was still new around the campus, and getting lost around here was... well, normal. Not too worried, though, she'd managed to find her way out the doors and into the sunlight of the day, the sun's rays warming her skin like a nice blanket in december infront of a fire. Smiling as she stood out in the grass, her hazel eyes glazed the nearby area, scanning for any sign of life. Some students were out and about, equally as glad to be outside. But these weren't so much what she was concerned about. Not what she was looking for, anyways. Pushing forward, the girl walked across the campus grounds, it's plushly soft grass squishing up against her shoes. Heidi wasn't really known for wearing sneakers all too often, as she preferred flats and other variations of sandals. But, today would be an exception, considering where she was headed.
The forest.
Or, 'Treefilled Forest' as the student and staff body around here called it. Sometime earlier in the week, she'd been out here with her friend Luke, and they'd manage to shift and race back to the dorms. But.. unfortunately that forced her to have to leave some of her stuff behind by the pond they'd found, so she made it a point to come and return another time. And, well, this was that time! Sorta. Granted she could find the place again. Clad in a pair of comfy jeans and a simple, vintage-looking shirt, Heidi stepped over the boundary between cut and tame grass of the school yard to the wild, more fierce trees of the woods as they enveloped her in. The amount of sunlight here, due to the foliage, was a bit more restricted, but there were still pockets and spots of more than enough sun to peek through and warm her skin as she walked.
With her hands in her pocket, Heidi pressed on through the woods, her inner collie not stirring for once as it just enjoyed being outside. Mm.. the outdoors was most certainly her preferred place to be; out here she felt in her element. Home, even, despite her domestic breed. Shoes lightly thudded against the soft earth, snapping twigs and crunching leaves as she walked on, not really trying to be sneaky out here. Normally she would have taken the path that she was originally on but, today a little nature hike couldn't hurt. And then, there, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something. Was that.. a cougar? It's back was to her as she froze and turned to watch, making note of it's slow, calculating crawl towards... something. A bird, maybe, she guessed. Or something equally small. It's sleek feline muscles rippled under the pelt, and the collie within jumped suddenly, alerted at the feline's presence.
And then, just as soon as she'd spotted the cat, a pair of human legs took it's place, the rest of the naked form of the stranger hidden by the wide pinetrees in her view. Or, she assumed the other was naked, considering she just witnessed part of a shift, and that's what generally happened when people shifted from human to animal and back again, that is, if their shift was big. And she figured the clothes of the other were either nearby, or.. ripped to to shreds. "Oh!" She gasped then, and instantly felt embarrassed for walking in on the other so suddenly as she felt a light blush pick up on her cheek bones. Whirling around, she pinned her back to the nearest, wide pinetree and swallowed hard. Craning her neck some, she spoke around the tree to the other, her inner collie going barking mad as it usually did around cat sorts. "I'm so sorry!" she called out, biting her lip. "I uh.. Didn't mean to walk in on you, honest!"
Well, this was an awkward situation. Either the stranger - for she couldn't tell the gender from where she was 'hiding' - truely was without clothes, or they'd managed to put them back on and Heidi just hadn't noticed and therefore was making a scene over, well. Nothing. Great. New kid at the school, and already she'd be making a fool of herself. Awesome. Swallowing hard, she used one hand to brush her firey red bangs from her freckled face, biting her lip slightly. "If it helps, I didn't see anything..?" Especially since she'd seen that the animal morph was a cougar, Heidi was trying to be extra careful to not anger the other; just incase it had a temper. Yup, awkward indeed.

***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming When you're standing there all alone***************
As she lay, Annette heard the sound of a twig snap close buy. Quickly she grabbed the clothes that lay in a bag next to her. She had placed them there earlier knowing she wanted to shift. Dressing quickly she slowly looked up over the tall grass. “Hello?” she said her eyes locating a brown haired young girl. “It’s ok, not your fault I should have been more careful where I rest,” she said not knowing if she had seen her shift of not.
Something in the air caught her attention and she glanced up at the blue sky, only to see a blanket of gray clouds drift over the sun like a safety blanket smothering the flames in a fire. She shivered at the now cool air and listened to the sounds around her, nothing but deathly silence met her ears, not a single birdcall reached her and her inner cougar now became fearful, it was then she knew something was seriously wrong.
“Sorry to be pushy, but I think we’d better get inside, something doesn’t feel right “She gathered her things as quickly as she could and move to the girl. “I’m Annette by the way, Annette Livingston “she smiled as she moved to the girls side. Her red hair suddenly blew across her face. She quickly brushed it back and noticed how the young trees all around them swayed and the leaves above rustled.
The once gentle breeze that she had loved earlier, now picked up so that even the grass around them shifted as if an invisible creature ran threw it dancing and twisting around where they now stood.
Quickly she moved to walk carefully and quickly back to the safety of the school, hoping the girl would follow and get out of the wind. The more she moved the more the wind seem to grow, now the branches above her swayed back and forth over her like giant woody arms reaching out in all directions as if grabbing for the wind. Annette looked back at the girl now not worried for her own safely but for the girls. As she listened, she heard from some where in the forest a tree finally give into the wind and come crashing down. The sound of the wood splintering filling the air like a death call of the tree its self, it made her shudder as she stood.

"Hello?" Huh, sounded like the other hadn't even realized she was there until her noisy shoes had sounded off the alarm. Well that was comforting, at least, to know that her scent hadn't been picked up a while back and the cougar was just waiting for her to arrive. Still pinned against the tree, Heidi held her breath as she waited for something to happen next. There was a brief silence as she heard a rustle of twigs and leaves on the ground, sounded like someone was gathering up something. Her clothes, maybe? Hopefully. Heidi figured it'd only make the situation all the more awkward if they had to talk to each other around the tree the whole day, to compensate for the other's lack of clothing. Something in the atmosphere shifted, suddenly, without warning. Something... wild, untamed. Hazel eyes filtered to the sky a moment, trying to see just what had happened to the sunny day. A stale, chilly wind abruptly replaced the cool breeze that had graced the island in a matter of seconds, it's greedy fingers snatching at anything, and everything.
Thick, dark clouds were tugging in over head as well, bringing with it a dark casting shadow over the school grounds just as an eclipse might. Heidi scrunched her face together in a frown as she stared at this, never seeing this sort of behavior before. Back where she came from, freak weather like this wasn't common in her hometown. Sure, sure, she got her share of rain and wind. But nothing this.. odd. Chin tilted back down then as her hair started twirling up around her face, streaks of it's brown and red color flickering across her line of vision in a haphazard type fashion. She'd been so distracted by the sudden change in weather, though, that she hadn't even noticed that the woman - finally, a gender! - had approached her and was now standing beside her. The first thing Heidi noticed about her was the vibrantly red head of hair she sported, making her arch her eyebrows in appreciation to the fellow 'red heads' on the island. Nice.
"Annette," she repeated softly, making a mental note not to forget it. Smiling, her blush subsided as she realized the girl was clothed - thank God - and any stressful situation had been avoided. Well, aside from the freaky weather. "I'm Heidi Valentine, and again, I'm really sorry. I tend to have.. bad timing with stuff like that." She was about to flash the seemingly older other a grin before the trees over her head caught her attention. Branches jounced about as they waved, shaking their various forms of leaves and pine needles dangerously above them, the loose ones shaking free and cruising to the ground. Things were looking violent, and fast. The wind had picked up even more now as it's harsh torrents flipped into a vicious ripping action. Panic picking up in her eyes, the inner collie started running little marathons in her chest as it whined. Run, run. Cover! it begged, anxiety from it dripping into Heidi's human form.
Looking ahead, she noticed that Annette was already walking ahead, clearly having a good idea about what they should do. Leaning forward, she pushed herself off of the tree and walked briskly to try and catch up with the other girl, her hair blowing in all directions as she tried to fight her way through the wind as it clawed her backwards. After a few struggling moments, she managed to catch up with Annette as she walked along her side, the clouds simultaneously opening up and letting a downpour of rain pound down on the earth. It didn't take long for Heidi to get completely drenched in the rain water as a groan escaped her lips. Man, looked like she wasn't going to get her clothes back today. Instinctively, she looped her arm around Annette's quickly as she pulled them both forward, the collie howling and pushing her to get inside as quick as possible. "C'mon, I think we should probably hurry, least we get blown away--"
She'd been cut off short as the thunderous crack of a fallen tree boomed in her ear, making her jump in fright. Man, things were turning from bad to worse out here, and then just plain ugly. Afraid a branch might come and smack them both in the side or something, Heidi only pulled harder and faster as she tried to work her way back to the school. "Sorry about dragging you like this!" she yelled over to Annette with a smile, hoping things weren't too weird for her. They could hardly call themselves acquaintances, and here she was tugging her along through this seemingly random down pour and developing hurricane breaking that usual 'no touch' boundary strangers had. Heidi was, to say the least, a social sort of person and she had no problem latching onto other people. She just hoped Annette wouldn't take offense or get weirded out or anything; she seemed friendly enough to not smack her over the head but, Heidi had just met her -- she knew nothing about her.

***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming When you're standing there all alone***************Just as Heidi drew up too her Annette felt the heavens open up the rain as cold as Ice as it hit, feeling like thousands of tiny knifes against her skin, as she held tight to her bag. She heard Heidi next to her apologizing about dragging her towards the school. In fact, it was the opposite, she was happy to go with her with all the strange weather and all. Annette was not one for personal space, well she was but right now, she was not. “Its all right, at times like this, we make exceptions. “ She said now holding tight to her arm so nether would blow away as they battled against the now growing wind. Finally, finding the stone path Annette could feel the wind and rain tugging at her bag but she moved it to rest against her chest. Her feet it the hard stone of the path but gripped its uneven surface helping to pull her along towards the shelter of the school. Suddenly out of know where she saw a branch tumbling towards them, grabbing Heidi she turned her back and felt it hit her hard as a broken piece of the branch dug into her skin and bounce off. To continue its way, rolling and tumbling across the forest floor. She breathed hard and felt pain in her back but she ignored it knowing they had little time to stop and moved to continue her way back threw the now strong winds. She felt a warm sensation running down her back and knew something had cut her. She chose to ignore it, getting back to the school was more important. Her feet dug in and gripped the gravel of the path as moved pulling along Heidi as she went. However, each step sent her muscles aching. Soon she saw the main doors but they were shut reaching out she grasped the handle and pulled it open so they could slip inside in a heap on the floor her arms and legs both feeing like she had run a marathon twice over. Breathing hard she slipped of the bag and let it fall to the ground now wishing she had a brush and mirror as she knew she had to look a site , windswept and she knew her shirt on her back was torn . She gave a sigh ad sat slowly up looking at where she had laid she saw several red spots and she shook her head again *************** tag: Any one notes: notes outfit: credit: Kady from Caution 2.0

Good grief! How bad was it going to get out here?
Her vision had started to become worse and worse with the now falling rain - great, now she was going to get soaked - and the combination of the wind. The two elements of nature intertwined with one another, the force of the wind blowing the rain so hard it appeared to be coming down almost horizontal, when in reality, it was just harshly turned diagonal. Her steps were staggered now as she held onto Annette, clinging desperately as to not let go. “Its all right, at times like this, we make exceptions." Her words made Heidi smile despite the inclement weather, feeling better now about holding onto the stranger so dearly and intensely. She felt pressure build up on her arm from the other girl holding onto her, too, which only fueled Heidi to keep plugging through all the faster.
She felt the stone path underneath her shoes, and used this as reassurance that they were headed in the right direction, luckily! What the duo needed last was to wind up heading in a totally off course toward safety, and end up lost or something. Up ahead, she could see the school's building start to formulate in the near distance, the mere sight of it making her heart make happy little skips. "Almost there!" she yelled over, but was cut off as she suddenly felt the girl whirl herself in front of her line of vision. Blinking in a very confused way, Heidi was about to open her lips to ask what she was doing and urge that they had to keep going, but before she could react, a rogue branch swung loose from a tree, and brutally smacked the girl right on the spine, looking like it had punctured her even. Alarmed, Heidi gasped sharply as she grabbed the other student around the waist tightly to offer support as they hurried back to the school.
It was hard to believe that Annette had taken the hit like that for her -- Heidi hadn't even seen the branch coming! An overwhelming sense of adoration washed over her as she reminded herself to lavishly thank the other shifter once they were safe. The hit looked painful, but she was still well enough to walk it seemed. Once they finally managed to make it to the door, her body completely drenched with the weight of the cold rain, Heidi scrambled to help pry it open and helped to rush them inside. With an audible smack, the heavy doors swung shut to block out anymore rain while Heidi panted heavily, her knees buckling to the floor with a wet sound. Swinging her head over towards Annette while her chest heaved, a wide, overly appreciative smile spread on her lips. "Annette.. I.. I don't even know where to begin with thanking you for tha--" she stopped midsentence, watching as the girl picked herself off of the wall and noticed the auburn stains of red in her wake. "Oh my gosh.. You're bleeding!"
Panicking, Heidi immediately leapt to her feet as she reached down to sling one of Annette's arms over and around her neck, heaving her up onto her feet as well as she started to quickly shuffle the two down the hall, hobbling forward to support both of their weight. "I have some bandages and a first aid kit in my room," she explained as she dragged her on, willingly or not. Heidi wasn't about to just leave her there to bleed in the front lobby -- after all, had it not been for Annette, that very well could have been her. Turning the corners swiftly, Heidi managed to bring them down to the girl's corridor while she helped her up the stairs onto her floor. Her shoes made a wet sound down the hall as she searched for room 210, leaving wet footprints behind herself. Finally coming to the desired room, Heidi opened the door that was, thankfully, unlocked and rushed them both inside.
Carefully and cautiously, she guided the other shifter towards her own bed to allow her to sit while she fumbled around anxiously for the first aid kit that she knew was in here. ..Somewhere. "Does it hurt?" she asked quickly, truly and honestly concerned. "Are there still pieces of the branch inside, do you know?"

***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming When you're standing there all alone***************Annette looked up as Heidi spoke she now felt the sting of her back. She could not help the wince as she helped her back to her feet and down the long corridors to the dorm rooms but she wasn’t lead to her own instead to one next to hers she was glad when she finally sat on the bed watching as Heidi dashed about trying to find a first aid kit. “First answer is yes, but only when I laugh, second I don’t know.” She said with a smile but she could feel something still in her “you’d be a better judge than me “she slowly turned her back to her. There sat several small cuts each with small thin strips of bark embedded in them, but one was deep, it lay just to the left of her spin and slowly trickled blood down her back to be soaked up by her now soaking wet, dirty and torn shirt. It was not she felt her head start to spin a little and her hands shook as she started to feel cold. She did not know if it was from the realization of what she had just done or from the fact, she now sat soaked to the skin in wet clothes. After a moment, she felt her shaking stop and she breathed out slightly. She looked around the room she sat in and smiled “you have a nice room Heidi” she said, “mines some what bare compared to this “she said and winced again a she shifted trying to remove her shirt from her back. Exhausted she managed it she sighed as she stuck her fingers threw the holes she saw in the back of it “well, that was one of my favorites “she said with a heavy sigh. As she sat, she could feel the trickle of blood run down her back the salt from her own sweat now stung the smaller cuts. Something made her want to go back to her own room. She knew it was the cougar inside her wanting to be alone to lick its wounds, but the human could not, she needed help and she knew it her back felt like a dagger had been pushed into it. Nevertheless, she would not admit it, unless she had to that being the kind of woman she was. He followed Heidi watching her again. “Did you find it yet, because I have one in my room ,its right beside the bed , room 213 “ She reached painfully into her trouser pocket and took out a small gold key that was attached to a gold chain. “Here please, go and get it “she said holding out her hand to her the key dangling on the end of the chain along with a small gold pendant. A cougar with rubies for eyes and small diamonds embedded in its body. *************** tag: Any one notes: sorry about not getting any more, I kinda didn't want to G mode your charry. “First answer is yes, but only when I laugh, second I don’t know.”
Heidi mentally smacked herself in the head as she realized the stupidity of her first question. Well duh it hurt! The girl had been -smacked in the back- with a tree branch. Clearly it wasn't going to tickle. She anxiously bit her lip as her hands ruffled about papers on the desk, hunting for the little First Aid kit. She wasn't a doctor, or anything close, but she knew the basics. Enough to stop it from bleeding long enough until they could get her to see the nurse if the wound got any worse. She dropped to her knees then as she eagerly scooted under her bed part way, pushing aside empty suitcases to see if it was around in there somewhere. “you’d be a better judge than me “ She then heard the girl shuffled around on the bed above her, and she dragged herself out from under the bed, dusting off her clothes as she looked at the back pointed her way.
The wound looked bad, to say the least. Parts of it had been torn to shreds by the wood splinters, exposing what -would- be skin if it wasn't covered in blood. There seemed to be one piece in particular, though, that was wedged in pretty deep. And close to the spine. Heidi knew that damage to the spine could result in paralysis, but she didn't think that that particular piece was -that- close to the spine to where they'd need a surgeon. They did need, though, that first aid kit that the collie-girl had no idea of it's whereabouts. “you have a nice room Heidi” she said, “mines some what bare compared to this Heidi couldn't help but smile at the small attempt at normal conversation, when they were in all but a normal situation. "Thanks, Annette." She replied, he voice a little shaky with the fear of the situation, "But bare rooms are good too! I'll bet you at least know where all your stuff is.." she chuckled weakly, then as she bent forward to try and help get the shirt off of the girl, just so Annette didn't snag her wounds by accident.
“well, that was one of my favorites “ Heidi pouted at this news, knowing how much of a bummer it was to lose and rip clothes. Which seemed to be normal here at this school. "Aww, well, don't worry." She nodded her head firmly, an idea popping into her head as her eyes glazed the surface of everything in the room to desperately try and find this first aid kit. "We'll go pick you up another at the mall, once this storm goes away." She grinned, then lightly patted the girl on the shoulder. "My treat." Suddenly, the girl before her tugged out a key and dangled it before her, telling her of the First Aid Kit that was, no doubt, easier to find than her own. Nodding her head firmly, Heidi took hold of the key and quickly darted out of the room, going to the dorm right next to her own as she put the key into the lock, gave a flick of her wrist to unlock it, and slipped inside.
The room was cozy feeling, and she would have taken more time to look around had this not been an emergency. Spotting the bed, though, she lunged for it and felt around beside it. Finding the First Aid kit, Heidi laced her fingers tightly around it's handle before fleeing the room. She locked it behind her quickly, and dipped back into her own in only a matter of seconds, despite how worn her muscles were from the run from earlier. Shutting the door behind her, she moved over to the bed, careful not to jiggle Annette any as she sat behind her, the kit just to her side. Nimble fingers opened the case up as she suddenly remembered something. "Ack! Hang on." Moving slowly off of the bed so as not to make it move, she proceeded to make her way over to the bathroom. Once inside, the girl flicked on the water, and vigorously washed her hands under the warm water with soap.
Back at home, Heidi loved watching House and other various medical shows on the television. She knew they weren't real, of course, but they had to be based off of something, right? And right now, that was all she had to go off of to make this... work. She'd seen them treat patients with gashes and cuts all the time, and always before any procedure they washed their hands to not infect the wound. Tapping the water off, she ran her hands under a towel, grabbed a face cloth and soaked this with warm water too, and moved back into the main room, re-seating herself behind Annette. "Had to wash my hands," she explained with a smile, trying to seem calm for the girl. "Now.. I need you to stay calm, and as relaxed as possible, okay?" Her tone was low, and trying to be soothing. "Since I don't have any meds to give you for the pain other than advil.. this is going to sting."
She leaned forward a little, taking a deep breath. "Okay, since you can't see what I'm doing, I don't want to scare you. So I'll walk you through what I'm doing, okay?" She clutched the warm, damp face cloth in her hand and spoke up, "I'm going to wash away the blood with this facecloth, okay? It's a little warm, to kill off any bacteria and stuff, so I can see what I'm doing." And with that, she pressed the cloth to Annette's back, softly at first then applying a little more pressure. She didn't push on where the splinters were, not wanting to push them in further. Dabbing up the blood, she watched as the white cloth started to stain red but ignored this. After soaking up the blood, she set the cloth down on her bent knee and paused, "Did you want me to get you some advil before I move on..? I want to get this big piece that's wedged in pretty deep out first, and.. I think it's going to hurt a little."
She bit her lip. Causing others pain was -not- her favorite thing to do. She knew it had to be done, though, or these mere cuts could turn into something much more serious. "I'm going to have to pull it out with my hands, but if you want me to just go ahead and do it, I can. Just lemme know which you want to do." The girl tried to keep the fear from her voice as best as possible, but it was a little hard to do, considering the only experience she had was from watching fictional characters preform on fictional characters. Heidi wouldn't voice this aloud, though, considering she didn't want to scare Annette. That was the last thing she wanted to do.

***************Standing with the wallflowers Wishing you would've stayed at home You kick yourself for coming
**************** As Annette sat, she felt the sting of the warm water but she just bit her lip as she felt Heidi clean her back. Her heart was now beating fast and her head swum a little from her unconsciously holding her breath, but she hung in as she felt each wipe of the cloth on her bare back. Where normally it would have been soothing to her now it felt like tiny daggers scraped on her back. Annette turned her head when she was asking if she wanted an Advil, and gently shook it. “No, I’ll be fine “ she lied she knew once Heidi was finished she would not get up too quick if she hadn’t passed out before then “ she heard her say about one piece that was in deep and nodded “do it. “ she said holding her breath as she waited for her to do it. She found her mind slipping back to her home and her family. What there was of it and how she was still alone even in school? Annette tensed her shoulders gripping the sheet below her. Her head spinning as she looked at the cotton sheet thinking it was pretty and thinking to her self once. This was over she would have to buy her a replacement sheet set. She found her self-thinking about what color and style she would like anything but what was happening to her back at that moment. “Tell me Heidi, do you have a boy friend?” she asked in strained voice making conversation so she would not feel her taking out the splinters from her back. ”I am only asking because, if so does he have a friend since I am still single “she said chuckling the best she could as with every sharp movement it seem to feel like a knife in her back. With a deep sigh she spoke again, “There are bandages in the same box” she said turning to see it laid close by her “ok you got it” she said hoping she would make it quick and clean “ the deepest first ,please “ she said hiding her own tears. “Ow if I pass out, its not your fault, you’re a good friend” she said as she took a deep breath and shifted on the bed so that if she did pass out she would fall onto it and not onto the floor and hurt her self any more.
