•••• Mel didn't know anything about anorexia. All he had heard about it were snippets from Entertainment Tonight episodes about movie and tv stars. They acted like it was a bad thing and sometimes showed pictures. It didn't really come off as a disease though in his mind. Rather it seemed more like choice. He had also heard of another thing called Bulimia, it sounded alot more awful though. He didn't even really want to think about it. He had also heard that super models and models in general would do it too. Mel was a firm believer in healthy eating. He did his research on that and was fully aware what was and wasn't good for him. He knew about potion sizes, how many servings the body needed daily, and generally how to control himself. As he viewed it there was no need to stop eating all together, it was a simple matter of knowing what you needed.
Besides, if you didn't give your body enough it did something that frightened Mel terribly. If it thought it wasn't getting enough it would begin to eat itself and then things like dizziness and fainting would happen. It scared the boy because of his own anemia. that was explainable and unstoppable unless he had surgery. But at least he knew something was wrong."I feel fine," Mel said, his voice a low and a bit sad. He curled up and leaned against the taller boy's chest without second thought or argument. It didn't feel weird to him at all, he just wanted to understand the person who had rescued him. Besides, it felt good to have Aoi playing with his hair.
“It is a disease, so say the doctors. They don’t understand though… They think I’m something that can be fixed with a few bites of a sandwich, but they don’t see the horrible fat monster when I look into a mirror."
Mel frowned, why would he think that? That was very strategic wording, Aoi sounded quite impassioned about it. Apparently he had had a rough time with it. It was really nosy of him but Mel wanted to know why. The older boy gave a little laugh, Mel felt the vibrations go right through him. Just another testament to the power that Aoi had inside of him. He unconsciously arched into Aoi's touch. After all, Mel was a hamster, a domestic one, it was natural to him that he loved such interactions. It didn't feel weird to him in the least.
He felt Aoi's hand catch his face and lift it. "Would you still like to take a shower? Or sit here in my arms?”
Mel pursed his lips. "mmm, yes." he mused, hugging Aoi tighter. He didn't bother to specify which he preferred to do. "You said that you see monster in the mirror.." he said slowly, he took a pause to choose his words, "If that's what you see, then there's a problem with your eyes. Not with you." He tilted his head up to meet his golden eyes, "So.. why did you say it like that?"•••• tag; Aoi Park word count;554 notes; >w< clothing; here~[/size]

Of course he was fine. He was a tough little boy it seemed, mentally and on the outside. Well sort of, he did cry when he got hit but then again anyone would have cried even himself. Aoi didn’t protest though, he figured if the boy was still in any pain he should show it since his face was so easy to read. Rocking a bit he began to rock the boy in his arms, he sounded sad when he said it too. Why? “Why do you sound so sad?” He whispered gently into the shell of the boy’s ear and continues to hold him close, it was like the boy just fit. Right there. He sighed softly and soon, moved to lie on his bed, pulling the boy down with him. Aoi grinned slightly at him. “Sorry, getting a little sleepy.” He said. Yes. Yes to what? Aoi just guessed he wanted to stay in his arms, which was just fine for Aoi. He continued to move his fingers through the boy’s hair as he closed his eyes, mulling over the question just asked. It was a long story. “ I don’t need my eye’s checked, I can see just fine. Before I came here, I had a lover, a boyfriend. He meant everything to me, he was all mine and he treated me like a prince. However, one day he cheated on me, I found out and stupidly took him back and then he said the reason why he cheated on me was because I was ugly and fat. I was disgusting.” He tensed in the male’s embrace and pulled him even closer, using him as a comforting factor again. “I came home from school and he was waiting at my house for me one day, and then… I don’t know. He just kept hitting me and pushing me to have sex with him, tell me I’d look better in pain, less ugly. I kicked his ass and then kicked him out of my life, but… that didn’t change how I felt about myself. If he knew I looked like that, what made me so sure no one else saw me and thought the same? I really… don’t like myself.” He said and it was then he realized he was crying. Maybe this was a sob story, but he rarely ever told the whole story about what happened to him, he didn’t think anyone unimportant should know. Not even his family knew. •••• "I just.." Mel tried to think up an answer to Aoi's question He felt sad because, well, Aoi felt sad. Mel wanted Aoi to give a name to the sadness that he felt. He wanted a translation for it. It was no different than learning a language. When Mel-or Aleksy, as he was known at the time- was still learning to walk and talk, his father would sometimes talk to him in polish, croon or sing lullabies. From that he learned to read and hear bits of it, but he never actually learned the language in its entirety, like this oldest brother had. But whenever he would hear it spoken there were parts that he just could not understand. He felt the language inside of him, knew that it was a part of him, but he didn't understand it. He needed someone to tell him. But how could he possibly cram that entire thought process into one quick and satisfactory answer?
The question he had asked before seemed to have worked. Aoi went to lie on his back, pulling Mel down with him. The boy didn't think much of it, Aoi probably just needed someone to be close to him. Mel wasn't going to argue, that much was for sure. He positioned his head into the curve of the young man's neck, so that he could still feel his fingers as they went through his hair. He started by correcting Mel's statement then dived into his story. He kept his wording short and to the point. It was hard on him. "...I found out and stupidly took him back and then he said the reason why he cheated on me was because I was ugly and fat. I was disgusting." That just killed him inside. Who would do such a thing? Aoi was a lovely person not just in terms of outward appearance, but his personality and heart were big enough for two people. But what he said next scared him. It wasn't just heart wrenchingly sad it was sickening."...He just kept hitting me and pushing me to have sex with him, tell me I’d look better in pain, less ugly."
Mel swallowed and held tighter, hiding the fact that his lower lip had started to quiver. He loved being around people, snuggling up to them, cuddling, and being loved. But the thought of a serious sexual relationship was terrifying, almost abhorrent. It had never happened to him, he had never considered it. He liked the idea of a cute chick-flicky romance. But something like that? It was down right painful.
Everything clicked into place, and seeing the glisten of tears slide down Aoi's face only concreted it. So this was his language. Mel would never forget it. He really didn't like himself, and that stemmed from hateful and truthless words. Yet somehow, Aoi was not bitter towards the world for his problems. I reminded Mel of Friderick's words. He said them aloud, word for word, just as he had said them. He didn't know why, but he felt that Aoi needed it. "Little Aleksy, thats how they win over us. We are of strong stock. We mustn't break down under the cruelty of others. Those that show uninhibited violence are not strong, only weak. Those that can endure and still smile are strong." Mel paused, feeling the boy's breath breath in and out, perfectly synchronized. He reached up and brushed away one of Aoi's tears, looking at it shimmer in the dull light."My brother said that to me one time... it reminds me of you. I had it rough through alot of elementary and high school, but i've always had that. It kept me sane and still does. I think you should have it too.."•••• tag; Aoi Park word count;634 notes; :[ aw, that makes me sad. clothing; here~

Aoi blinked at the boy and waited for him to finish what he was going to say. Odd thing was, he understood it perfectly because of the way the boy looked. He knew that look, it was a mild pity with an edge of self-saddess. Aoi felt a little bit bad now for telling him about his illness. Normally he’d rather he tell people up-front so they don’t question and annoy him later on. He gently poked the boy’s lower lip when it began to quiver and shake. “It’s alright, some times people say things best when they don’t say anything at all.” He whispered in the boy’s ear and continued to rub his back a bit, also playing with the boy’s soft hair, which smelt amazing. Aoi was growing soft, good lord. He didn’t know what the boy reminded him so much of to act like this in front of him. The Chinese boy figured, Mel reminded him of his little brother Choi. Size wise, they were the same, they both had soft voices. Yeah that had to be it. He could feel the boy just cling to him like someone was going to take him away when he mentioned sex, as soon as he said it the boy just became a little brick. Figures, he must have been a virgin, why else would he become like that? Unless he had some twisted past experience, in which Aoi now hoped he was a virgin. Aoi was not, he had sex with his ex before, but Aoi hated being pushed into it, he’d rather it start slow and then end with a bang, not just randomly jump into bed like wild monkeys; that was gross. Shifting a bit, Aoi lied on his side instead of his back so he could watch the male, listening to him with apparently something the boy’s older brother had told him a while back. “That’s what I meant before about bullies being cowards. I don’t hate the weakness of people, just the those who think they’re overly strong, those kinds of cowards.” He said with a shrug and leaned in to kiss his forehead gently, the boy’s skin was soft and smelt wonderful. “You know you smell good right? Just makes me want to hug you more!” He grinned and moved his hand to gently tickle the boy’s sides. They needed this, the air around them was too depressing right now. What better way to make a air seem brighter then to tickle a boy he was sure would laugh? [/url] tags;;pmeeeeelnotes;;Aoi knows how to change the mood xD[/size][/center]

•••• Mel hoped with all his heart that Aoi would take that wisdom for himself. He wanted Aoi to know that he was a strong person for just being able to keep on living. Everyone on the island seemed to have a story. There was a whole lot more to these people than just being able to turn into an animal. Mel loved hearing their stories. Some of them were sad or terrifying, but he loved to know. He hardly ever told his own story, if someone asked he would but he never really brought it up. Well, except for just now when talking to Aoi. But he only really talked about his brothers. He was afraid of what had happened in the past. Never knowing when you might be jumped or attacked or have something fly at the back of your head only because of the way you acted and looked always stayed with him. The feeling of fear was his constant companion, following at his heels like an obnoxious lapdog. His inner hamster was absolutely no help at all. I was usually just as scared as he was.
That was another thing. Unlike most inner animals, Mel's hamster was unusually quiet. It sort of irritated the boy, but it was also comforting. Perhaps sometimes it would alert him to danger he hadn't thought of or urge him to do something, but for the most part it did nothing. Mel often wondered why he was a hamster shift, why something so small and weak? If he had been something bigger, like Aoi's tiger or a big bad dog life might've been a whole lot easier. What's so special about hamsters anyway? Mel knew that if he saw a hamster he'd completely break down because they were so cute.. is that why? He couldn't be sure, he just knew that Jarick and Marceli thought it was hilarious. What was it they suggested his parents should do with him? Keep him as a pet?
Mel felt Aoi's lips press against his forehead, it made him smile, "I know.. I just don't want you to be sad. I want you to smile." He blushed at Aoi's compliment, he did actually use pretty nice hair care products. Plus his cleanliness wouldn't allow him to just smell average, or- heaven forbid- smell bad. Aoi didn't smell to bad himself, he seemed to be wearing some kind of cologne. Axe maybe? Mel like the smell of Old Spice but Axe was really good too. The boy stood no chance when Aoi decided to tickle him. He bust out laughing and pleading, "Nonono! I'm too ticklish! Eeh! Stop!"He thrashed and tried to borrow closer to Aoi unable to control his giggling "Your so mean! Stoppit, it's too much." A broad grin was plastered on his face which had turned a shade of rosy-red. He hugged himself and curled up protectively. Laughing still he nudged closer to Aoi, "That's not nice to do to people!"•••• tag; Aoi Park word count;526 notes; hehe, cute~ clothing; here~

center] x x [/center] Nodding slowly, Aoi smiled. A pure sweet smile just for the boy. That’s what he wanted right? A real smile and not the sad mask Aoi was so use to wearing? “Xiao cangshu is so cute. I hope he knows that.” Snickering softly he watched the boy and wondered if he could even guess what Aoi had just called him, little hamster. Aoi shifted a bit to lean against his head board after a while, a sign that he was tired as well as a little bored. He wondered what else the could do together? Watch a movie? Take a walk? Hell, Aoi would even hunt down those boy’s who hurt Mel and make sure they never walked or saw the light of day again. Yeah, Aoi could be a violent person, just like a tiger he would hurt anyone who made him angry, it didn’t take a lot to get Aoi mad really, just a few misplaced words here and there and then you would have him beating you down into the ground. Funny really. The boy’s laugh was really like bells to his ears, he wasn’t pushing him away but getting closer to the tickling, strange. Aoi snorted and soon stopped and patted the boy’s hair gently. “We should go shopping in the mall one day. It would be fun.” He said and looked at his finger nails and toes. “Besides I could use a manicure and pedicure. Also some new clothes and a bathing suit.” He muttered softly to himself and bit his lower lip, looking down at his lap to mull over everything he needed. In truth he needed a lot. But for now he could get little and spend most of his money on Mel. If he wanted to go shopping with him anyway. Aoi turned his golden gaze to the boy and grinned. “So, how bout it? I’ll treat us to lunch too? Tomorrow?” They wouldn’t be having school for a while due to it being summer break and he also didn’t want to mess up any plans the boy might have with some of his other friends. This would be a good start though, Aoi liked being with Mel and for some reason felt the need to watch over the boy. He was so tiny and breakable looking that Aoi only felt the need to become his shield and protect him from the slightest of harms. [/color][/url] tags;;meeeelnotes;;*giggle* x3[/size][/center]

•••• "Xiao cangshu", what did that mean? It sounded endearing but Mel just couldn't be sure. It definitely wasn't an insult. What language was it? Perhaps Japanese or Chinese? Mel made a mental not to ask about it. Aoi definitely was of Asian heritage. He had an amazing smile though, straight and radiant, it was infectious. Mel found himself unable to hide a smile of his own.
He was glad when Aoi stopped tickling him and touched his hair. He slowly uncurled, panting a bit. We should go shopping in the mall one day. It would be fun.Besides I could use a manicure and pedicure. Also some new clothes and a bathing suit."
Mel blinked. "We... we have a mall here?"He slapped a hand over his fore head and sat up,"Guess I still don't know my way around very well, huh?"
Although he was a sophomore, Mel had arrived in his freshman year, but only for the last few weeks of school before it was summertime. It explained the emptiness of his dorm and lack of friends. But he was totally fine with it. Life was hell at his highschool, almost worse than middle and elementary school. So much so that he had to be taken out and go to school online until His parents found out about Shifter Academy. It was tough on the boy to know that he had to leave his family for this but was hopeful that things would turn out differently at this new school. So far they were. Already he had met Felix, who was friendly; and Aoi, the guy who rescued him.
He thought for a moment, then smiled, "I'd love to go out to lunch! The mall sounds like fun too!" He reached and picked up the unfinished noodle cup. Twirling the fork he held up a forkful of noodles for Aoi to see. He smiled, a bit mischievously,"But i'll only say "yes" if you promise to eat lunch tomorrow, kay?" He ate the noodles and set the cup back on the table. He made sure to finish chewing before he spoke. "I really, really need to take a shower. So... deal?" Mel extended his hand towards Aoi. He didn't want to force Aoi to do something that he didn't want, but his personality just wouldn't allow Aoi to get away with not eating.•••• tag; Aoi Park word count;420 notes; sorry -_- it's short.. clothing; here~

Aoi grinned at the look on his face, the cute little button nosed confused look as to what the hell he just said. Aoi purred softly and pulled the boy close to him, kissing his hair again. “I called you little hamster in Chinese, I’m Chinese and Korean.” He said and gently smoothed his fingers through the soft blonde hair. He bet the male wanted to ask him about his nationality, he could tell by the expression on his face he was a little confused, sometimes people couldn’t tell the difference between accents. He shifted and wrapped his arms around the boy’s little body and pulled him closer to his chest again, like the boy was about to disappear at any moment. “Yeah, it’s an amazing mall, they have so many stores it’s crazy. We can take my car too.”[/b] He said softly and gave a nod. Grinning even more and gently pecked the boy’s cheek and patted his butt a bit, amused by his hyper actions. “Alright, tomorrow it is then.” Since the boy was hurt, he wanted to wait a day for him to fully rest up before Aoi took him anywhere. Then came then condition. What was Aoi five? Snorting a bit he nodded and slowly took the boy’s hand to shake it, or that’s what he guessed the boy wanted to do. Yeah he would eat for the boy since he didn’t want to see Mel so upset that he lied or something. A promise was a promise after all. “Here, you can take a shower here if you want. I already brought some clothes for you out.” He said and moved from the bed and stood up, moving to the bathroom to turn the light on, Aoi kept the bathroom spotless, it was gross otherwise. Slowly he moved and showed the boy his own stuff that he kept separate from his roommates in a plastic drawer. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, and his razor. “You’re welcome to use those if you want, I’m sure Karter and Chris won’t notice if you use their things, if you like them better.” He smiled and grabbed a small bag and help it for the male, so he could bit his old clothes in, he clothes he got out for Mel, where black sweat pants, a red shirt with elmo on it and some of his boxers. They were just for now and he was sure the boy wouldn’t mind wearing them for a bit right? [/url] tags;;meeelnotes;;xDDD Aw [/size][/center]

•••• "Little hamster?" Mel twisted a strand of hair around his pointer finger as an expression of honest bashfulness, "Chinese, huh? I'm only Polish, not that that's interesting or anything"
"You have a car?!" Mel's mouth dropped open. How did he get it to the island? Or did the ferry bring them over? Mel wasn't too keen on using a car when it was just in walking distance. He was his own little environmentalist. He was kind of a stickler for wasting energy, but only with himself. He tried to influence others but he certainly wasn't overbearing about it. He simply smiled and said, "That'd be cool, but I think I want to walk.."
He touched his cheek with the hand he wasn't offering in the spot that Aoi had kissed, smiling shyly. He was glad to hear the older boy accept his stipulation but he could hear the mild irritation in his snort.. He stood up when Aoi did and followed him to the bathroom. It was surprisingly clean, it surprised Mel a bit, he didn't expect most of the boys' bathrooms to be so pristine as his and Aoi's was. he wonderd what Aoi's roommates thought of it. He supposed he was glad that neither of them were in the room while he and Aoi were cuddled up next to each other. It didn't seem weird at the time, but it definitely could have been taken the wrong way by a third party.
He stepped into the bathroom and thanked the young black-haired man, slipping off his shirt as the door closed. He glanced in the mirror above the sink and stood on the tips of his toes to look at the dark purple and red bruise on his slim abdomen. He poked at it wincing as he did so, "Ow..." He cranked the shower to warm and slipped out of his pants. The water over his skin was soothing, he set up a hum, something close to a Regina Specktor song-being as she was his favorite recording artist-it started out low, rising and falling in time. Soon he started singing, he was aware that Aoi was just in the next room so he tried to keep it as quiet as possible, he knew his singing wasn't all that great. It was especially difficult to tone down the chorus line as it was the higher and louder point of the song.
His showers were not typically short, rather they were huge affairs with the works. But he kept it brief and only used a little bit of Aoi's shampoo. truth be told he felt guilty for mooching off of the young man like this. Although he wanted to express his gratitude he also didn't want to end up causing Aoi to have a bad opinion. Reputation was everything for a boy who had been bullied since he first learned how to write in cursive.
When he finally did get out of the shower he felt fresh and revived. He avoided looking at the bruise in the mirror. He hated it, he despised it just as much as he did the scar on his left eyebrow. It was a marring feature, it ruined his appearance. He patted himself dry with a towel and shook out the clothing Aoi had given him, smiling a bit at the shirt . He put on pants first, he used his own undergarment, wearing another guy's boxers was too strange for him. The clothing was really quite large on him, especially the pants, they covered his feet. The shirt was pretty baggy too, it seemed a bit old as well. The way it hung on his body it fell off on one shoulder. He opened up the door and stepped back into the room, running a hand through his damp hair, "Sorry I took so long.." •••• tag; Aoi Park word count;677 notes; nothin' to say c: clothing; here~
