There was something unspeakably odd about moving into a dorm in the summer. No school was in session, many students were off doing who-knows-what during the summer, yet here he was, Felix Wellington Sbarge, newly shipped off by his parents, sitting on the curb near the dormitory. Just sitting. Not moving anything from the pile of luggage he'd dragged here, not pulling the paper with his room number form his pocket, not bothering to even wonder how he'd get into his room if no one was there.
He knew he had a roommate. Just one at the moment who'd already been there for a while, though he didn't know how long. He didn't care at the moment either. He still couldn't get over the fact that his parents had simply dumped him here. He wished they'd said why, yet he already knew the answer. And despite his despair at being shoved around like the luggage he'd brought, he approved.
He was dangerous. Not because he wanted to be, but because he could be. And even then it was a small likelihood. And yet it was made only bigger by the fear and misunderstanding brought on by normal people.
To think now he was considered "not normal." When had he ever been normal anyway? Since when did teenage guys say they hated football aloud where their peers might hear, especially when their father was the high school coach? And since when did teenage guys like, well, teenage guys? Felix didn't care. But this place made him a little less self-conscious of part of that "not normal." It would take more time for him to forget it, though.
And he would still have to deal with his other "not normal" qualities. This was still a high school, if more college tailored.
Felix shuffled his feet, fishing a hand into the pocket of his brown jacket that looked and felt like suede. The pockets were at a suitably angled direction, more natural for a person's hands, and were deep. He hated shallow pockets with a passion, turning away those styles on principle. This particular jacket was reversible, an odd concept for such a material, but it made for quite a reusable clothing article, the inside being lighter than the out. It was very classical, even being done up with buttons and sporting a wider than average collar. His own design, actually, but he never announced his work. Instead, it was printed on both sides with an infinitesimal "FWS," forgoing an annoying tag.
The paper he pulled from his pocket was worn, wrinkled and curving down at the horizontal sides. The tiny neon green Post-It-that-had-lost-it's-stick sported black gel pen rather brashly, the quick, nervous hand of his mother.
Dorm #: 107 first floor Roommate: Smith, D.
His roommate didn't even warrant a first name, it appeared. So thoughtful and considerate of his mother. Not just toward the roommate, but toward him. Did she expect him to remember the stranger's name from a list of a hundred? Obviously, she did. Mothers... Felix sighed, vainly smoothing out the Post-It, looking up at the dorm building, then back to his huge suitcase, backpack, and the duffel bag of random personal items. Well, at least he was on the first floor.

Zero was sitting in a tree, drawing carelessly in his ripped up notebook. He sighed, tearing off the paper and throwing it on the ground. Why did he always feel so...restless? He brushed his brow, his upper lip curling in distaste when he touched beads of sweat. The heat has always bothered Zero. He'd rather live somewhere a little cooler then this. If it wasn't for his fear of returning to the slums, he would've been gone from this place a long time ago. It wasn't that he didn't like Shifter Academy. For him it was like a home away from home. It was home. His old home, the life he had...Zero didn't want to relive that. But Zero was restless, and he was ready to get out in the world. He wanted to help people, catch criminals. It made him sick to think there were people in the world that had the guts to put a gun to someone.
Zero climbed down from the tree with ease, having done so many times before. His eyes quickly caught a lonely figure sitting alone on the curb. Zero turned his back and took in a deep breath. Seeing people sitting alone always bugged him. The boy looked unsure of himself, and by the looks of it, he was either leaving or just arriving. Zero shook his head and folded his notebook, then turned and walked over to the boy.
Zero nodded and gave a small smile to the kid as he approached. "What's up with all the luggage?" he asked in a friendly tone, gesturing to the many bags that lay scattered around the boy. "You new?" He paused, then continued. "Name's Zero. I've been here for a couple years now. Shifter Academy is a great place. You get to meet a lot of people that can shift, too." He held his hand up to shade his eyes from the intense rays that preyed on his tan skin. Zero itched to jump into the nearest pool, and feel its cool and welcoming sensation it gave. But, being the person he was, he'd feel guilty just leaving the guy here.
Zero pulled out a deck of cards from his pocket and let his thumb run over them. It was a habit of his. Growing up, it was the only possession he really ever had. Besides a few pairs of shorts and shirts, that is. Perhaps that's why Zero is a bit of a pack-rat, holding on to even the tiniest trinket and card he got.

Hopefully his mother hadn't gone through his clothes at the last moment. Though that would explain why the suitcase was heavier... Parents. His parents... Sometimes, he wished he knew them better.
The seventeen year old caught himself looking up again from his seat on the curb. But this time, there was movement to warrent his attention. Felix had noted the trees around the building earlier, had decided to shove his stuff in his room as soon as possible, if only for the chance to climb one of the beauties. Who cares about unpacking? Did he even need half of the stuff? No. But he couldn't just leave the ridiculous luggage here alone. His father would kill him for losing anything, even halfway around the world in the too warm of a place.
But what was moving was not the trees themselves. Well, not so much. Rather, it was the figure inhabiting them. Whatever the other boy had been doing sitting in the tree ceased, his movements carrying him toward the ground. And finally toward Felix. But the newcomer in the reversible, personally designed jacket just sat and watched him approached. He was wary of new people. He liked to learn about who they were first, before he chose to go anywhere. So, Felix sat.
And as the boy spoke, a friendly manner quite apparent, Felix continued to sit. Not out of impoliteness, but becuase he felt too tired to do anything. Maybe it was the sun. He should've been used to it by now, living in Arizona. He watched the brunette, Zero was his name, introduced himself and the school, Felix's first official welcome, in some ways. It was useless information, the kind that people traded with strangers before they knew each other. But it was polite, despite the faint, subtle discomfort Zero seemed to feel. Maybe it was the heat for him too.
Felix smiled a little, leaning back and using his hands and arms to prop up his shoulders and head. "It's a lot of stuff I don't need. At least I think I don't need it. And is it that obvious?" He asked about his being new. It was more an icebreaker question than anything serious. The bags, duh. "I'm Felix. Felix Wellington Sbarge." He liked his full name. It sounded impressive. More impressive than he really was.
AS Zero pulled out a deck of cards, a worn stack that had seen much love, obviously, Felix said nothing. It wasn't his place. But he could tell that the deck was important, if more emotionally than physically to the other boy. Instead, he shifted his eyes back to the dormitory, then the campus past it. "There a pool around here?" Even though he didn't love water, he liked being near it. He liked moving water, like rivers, better than stagnant lakes. But any kind of water would be refreshing. After his moved all this stuff and met his roommate. He wondered who else was around, school being out. And why Zero was here at this time of year. Why he was here, really.

Zero grinned when the boy asked about the pool. Another water-lover, good. They needed another strong swimmer on the team. Zero would live in the water if he could, but sadly his shift needed air to breathe. All the same, Zero loved the American Mink, even if it was an air breather.
"Sure there is," Zero said, not looking up from his deck as he started to shuffle it in his hands. His movements were quick and precise, not to mention well practiced. It was something Zero did a lot, especially in class. It allowed him to move in some way, while listening to the lecturing teacher. "Where would all the aquatic and semi-aquatic shifts go? They'd all go insane. I know I would. Can't escape to the beach anytime you want to...unless you want to skip class or something." Zero stopped shuffling, just staring down at the worn out cards. He really needed to get a new deck...but this one was his favorite. Zero cocked his head to one side, shrugged, then slipped the cards back in its case. Once he pocketed the cards, Zero finally met the boy's dark blue eyes. He had brown hair, and Felix looked fairly wealthy, with his outfitted jacket and all. Zero felt slightly jealous, but pushed the feeling away. He could hardly afford his own clothes, and had to work to get what he could. Zero was always thankful that he never had any medical problems, because he didn't have hardly a penny to his name to fix himself up or even buy prescribed glasses. Zero hated to go shopping, because he knew that everything he liked he could never afford. The jacket was especially nice...He felt a little shabby standing next to the kid, but shrugged it off. His jeans were torn here and there, and his blue tee shirt wasn't in much better condition. It had paint splattered all over it, and a bunch of sharpie was scribbled all over it. The sharpie was, of course, just a little "remember me this summer" type thing he and his friends had done two years ago. It seemed like a long time ago when that happened, and it made Zero a little sad to think about.
"Felix, eh?" Zero said. "Good name. I should have given you my last name. It's Zag. Zero Zag is my full name. No middle name."
Zero stopped, realizing he had left his notebook back at the tree. His heart raced. Maybe someone stole it! "Be right back," he said, whipping around and running to the tree. He sighed in relief when he say the lonely pencil and notebook, and he gathered it quickly in his arms. He ran over to Felix again. When he got there, he laughed at the idiot he was being. His sister would smack him for being nonsensical. But, he couldn't help it.
"Just got here, then," Zero said, collecting his dignity again. He hoped he hadn't scared the poor guy. That was pretty common...too common.

"You misread me. I don't like water much. Which is weird, I know." Felix replied in slower, softer Irish tones to Zero's excitement. It was written all over his face and despite how much Felix hated to crush it, he had to tell the truth. But he still loved being around wet. Rain was his favorite. And swimming wasn't really that bad, so long as he could see the bottom and wanted to be there. But usually he didn't.
Of course, it only made sense there be a pool, now that he thought about it. Salt and freshwater "pools" too probably. Felix had just forgotten that everyone here could and would shift. It was just him who didn't like shifting, so of course proper environments would be necessary. He wondered what others would say when they found out or he told them he rarely shifted. He wondered how they would look at him then. Less like a real Shifter, no doubt, and more like a human. But again, he was stuck in the middle. As always...
He shivered unconsciously under Zero's examination. He could feel the envy, just for a moment. But Zero had nothing to envy of him as far as money. Felix wasn't inheriting any of it. These clothes weren't even his. Except the jacket. And some of the other extra clothing articles, but they didn't even make one outfit. And it wasn't like they were expensive clothes he wore. Target and Kohl's worked for him just fine. The only reason he wore such "heavy" clothing that seemed to portray wealth, was to hide his scars. He couldn't even wear short sleeves without them being noticed. Another reason he hated to go swimming.
"Don't worry about it," he said about his clothes. "You ever want any, just ask. I don't need it, like I said." But of course, thoughts of charity never went over well with other guys. Or girls, for that matter. Oh well. He tried. Men would simply be men. No wonder he stopped being one and started liking them. No wait, better idea than charity! "I could always design you something, and you could help. I'm majoring in fashion..." A little out there, but he couldn't refuse to make the boy an offer; he was cute and friendly, after all. And Zero's clothes had so much more enviable personality than his own. Goes to show how many friends he had in school.
Felix leaned his weigh onto one arm, lifting the other from his spot on the ground and offering his hand to Zero. "Nice to meet you, Zero Zag. Love the name. Good ring. Doesn't need a middle."
The new student with the dark navy eyes and dark brown hair watched curiously as Zero scampered back to the tree, retrieved something and returned. His movements about the tree were very polished, leading Felix to debate internally what the boy might Shift into. Something close to his Shift? A water-"loving," tree-climber? But he red-flagged that question for latter. He wanted to try and figure it out before being required to ask. He enjoyed puzzles like that. "You an artist or a writer?" He gestured to the notebook.

Zero moved the notebook from his left to right hand. "Uh...neither really. I draw, but it's mostly just doodles and stuff. Nothing really good, sadly. I don't have the patience with pen and paper to sit, concentrate, and draw one good picture. I just draw things that come on the top of my head."
He sat down next to Felix, opening the notebook. The inside cover read 'Zigging and Zagging' with a bunch of fancy letters. He closed the notebook again, after studying it for several brief moments. "Majoring in fashion, eh? That's cool. You have to be creative for stuff like that...right? Its nice of you to offer, and I'd love to. But I don't have the money that it most likely requires. I don't want you to pay for any of the stuff, either. I like trying new stuff. Get the most out of life while you're young."
He lapsed into silence, trying to think of what Felix's shift was. He could just ask him, but he liked to make a guess first to see if he was right. The pool comment confused him. It would seem he was some sort of aquatic shift based on his question, and he didn't hate water. Then again, he didn't love it. It seemed foreign to Zero that an aquatic shift, or semi-aquatic shift wouldn't just love water. But Felix, if he was truly that type of shift, most have his reasons. Most did.
He ran his hand through his hair. "This heat is killing me. Plus the air conditioning died in my dorm room...so I've been outside all day. Hotter inside then out. Besides, I'd rather be outside anyways."
Zero stretched his legs out in front of him, allowing his cramped muscles to relax. He had swam that morning, and a little that afternoon. His hair was still a little damp, but with it being the hot day it was, it would be dry in no time.
"So what grade are you going to be in this year?" Zero asked, curious but also for the sake of the conversation. He put his hand on the pavement, but quickly withdrew it. "The pavement is hot." He shook his head, and instead but his hands on his knees. "Hottest day this summer, I'm sure of it."

Moving into a new dorm room, was never fun. But that was the price you paid for taking a visit home for the summer and returning with your bed being replaced. Ah, well. He didn’t care all that much. His previous roommates were idiots, like most. He wouldn’t mind having a new roommate. He also, had no clue that that would be. As he entered his room, he had put his entire luggage on the free bed. He wasn’t in the mood for unpacking so he wouldn’t bother with it at the moment. Instead, he changed into more comfortable but subtle clothes and set off for outside. He wasn’t actually going to look for anyone, he’d rather be out in some open air though. Which, was actually unusual for Caleb.
He stood near the entrance of the dormitories, not truly realizing the heat of the day. Maybe he should have stayed inside. At least his room would be air conditioned and out of the heat. It never actually bothered him until he was standing straight in the dead of the sun, no shade or water to relax him. A nap sounded good too… When did he not try to sneak a nap in? He thought about it, moving to lean against the building, next to the door. It was warm, not too hot though. He leaned the back of his head against the wall as well, staring up at nothing in particular. Alright, time to choose, nap or outside?
Nap, definitely. He turned to go back inside, but caught two male figures sitting on the curb, as well as luggage. Well, that was odd. It was too hot outside to be relaxing on a curb. His curiosity lit a spark and he looked a bit more closely, recognizing one of the guys. Felix, yes Felix. They had met not too long ago, and were friendly. He was an alright guy, which Caleb couldn’t say for a lot of people. That would keep him awake, a little conversation. But who was he talking to? Well, he’d find out sooner than later.
Caleb pushed himself away from the wall, moving toward the curb. As he neared he caught onto the end of the conversation. The comment about it being the hottest day of the summer, from the unknown guy. He snorted slightly, “That’s for sure.” said Caleb, slightly sarcastically as he was behind them but coming around to stand next to the curb, somewhat butting into the conversation. He probably wouldn’t sit down if he did get into a conversation with them. He didn’t like sitting so close to flat ground, but not actually sitting on it. It was a weird sensation for him. And it being so warm, he wasn’t in the mood to be so scrunched up to his body.
He turned his head to give an upward nod to Felix, “What’s going on?” he asked generally. It was a general question, for the luggage on the curb, why he was sitting on the curb and just really what he was doing. He glanced over to the guy he didn’t know. That was always a bit awkward, not knowing one person and then the other. And yet, he didn’t really feel awkward. His dark eyes glanced up to the sun and then back to the two males sitting on the curb. Yes, he better not sunburn for being outside just a few short minutes. He swore it’s happened before.

Sitting back up on the curb, finally beginning to question why he didn't just move indoors sooner rather than later, Felix sighed inwardly. "I've never been the best at drawing either. But I sketch instead of doodle. I don't have the broad ability of draw what comes to mind randomly." He wished he had the lack of discipline that required, but he was a little too driven at times. But it wasn't easy to get ideas across to others unless he was a single-minded sketcher and did things with few, clean lines. But he was sort of jealous, or at least otherwise appreciative of Zero's lettering.
"I don't have the money either. But I'm good at finding stuff cheap." Except he knew a "no thank you" when he heard it. Which was fine by him. So the topic was basically dropped, not even filed for future reference. He didn't even bother expressing that most materials could be picked up from the school stores for use in an extracurricular project.
His determination of what Zero's Shift was advanced a step, from the way he looked like he been at the pools earlier and from the obsession with personal objects. Like the notebook and the card deck. That pack-rat style made Felix conscious of his own personal items. The analog watch on his right wrist, which he fingered, and the little blue notebook he wrote his favorite quotes in. And come to think of it, he was pretty certain he had an old deck of cards somewhere in his bag. Creepy. Zero was definitely a semi-aquatic rodent of some sort. But that was such a broad spectrum even yet.
Felix gathered his feet underneath himself to stand, finally winning the debate with himself to start moving again. "I'll be in eleventh. You?" Felix agreed with the heat comment. He stood, turning back to look at Zero and catching instead with his eyes a familiar figure. "Hey Caleb. Laziness is going on. I think it's the heat," he replied, stretching a little before picking up his backpack and swinging it over his shoulder. The bag met his back with a soft, satisfying thunk as he pulled his over arm through. "Zero and I were just talking about going to the pool, want to join?" He glanced back at Zero, hopping the other guy wouldn't mind Felix extending the invitation.
He'd met Caleb earlier that day, his seat partner on the boat ride over. They'd talked all that meaningless stuff, told each other names, grade, their major, animal Shift even and perhaps one or two things about their childhood. He seemed an alright guy, for a crocodile.

A panda strolled lazily across the pavement towards the dorms. When he noticed that there was a small group of people there, he made a mental note to go check out what was going on.. after he changed back to his human form and got dressed of course. He picked up his pace and ran into the pool’s change room where he always kept a set of clothes. Once he was fully clothed he jogged back to the group. In his animal form he had found a small forest of sugar cane, and considering the fact that he couldn’t bare to leave the poor sugar cane to go to waste, he decimated it by eating as much of it as he could. It was a such a rough life being a panda... yet he loved every sugary minuet of it. He soon found himself amongst the group and saw a whole bunch of bags. It was quite clear that one of them was here to stay. The thing was, which one? “Zero and I were just talking about going to the pool, want to join?” He was unsure weightier to ask who the new student was and which dorm they were in, but from the looks of things it seemed like the older boy in the fancy jacket was the newer of all four of them. To pick up stompies or not to pick up stompies... that was certainly a good question and not your average 1+1 mathematical question either. “Hey. I’m Smith, Daniel Smith.” The teenager that looked to be of native American descent had basically been boiling in his animal form. The hot sunny had been beating down on the parts of his fur that were black, and basicly baked him alive. That was the main reason why he had been spending this, very hot day in the woods. He wouldn’t have come out if a little bird hadn’t started chasing him towards the dorms. It was still a mystery to him about why he had been chased here but he had no doubt as he stood in the small group of four people in a black t-shirt with the fox logo, jeans, and a pair of Nikes, that he’d find out pretty soon why he had been chased here. He just hopped that it was a good enough reason for him to have stopeed eating the sugar cane that he had discovered...

Zero was a little surprised when the guy, called Caleb, appeared by his side. He recovered quickly, and greeted Caleb with a simple hello. "The more the merrier," said Zero when Felix extended the offer. It was always better to have larger groups...usually. Zero was always open to meeting new people and making new friends. "I've see you've already met a friend, Felix. That's great." Zero, not wanting to be rude, introduced himself to Caleb as he had just done with Felix. But he was too soon. Just then, a boy ran up to them. He had black hair, like Caleb. But unlike Caleb, his skin tone was darker.
"Looks like you're pretty popular, huh Felix? It won't be too long till the whole school is stalking you." Then, turning to David and Caleb, asked, "How do you guys all know each other? We were just about going to head to the pool. You're welcome to tag along if you want. Caleb might come too." At the mention of Caleb's name, he gestured to the newcomer. Just in case the boy didn't know who he was talking about.
Zero looked over at Felix, to see how he was taking all these new people. He knew Caleb, that much was sure. But what about this David? Oh well. It didn't matter. The guy was probably just lonely and wanted to hang out, like everyone on this island. David seemed nice enough, but they had only just met. Secretly, he wished he knew what Felix, David, and Caleb's shifts were. A person's shift often told a lot about the how they acted, or something about their personality. It was one of Zero's pet peeves, knowing what people's shifts were. But he liked to get to know the person first, make a good guess, and then see if he was right. It was almost like a game he played with people. Zero went around, introducing David to Caleb and Felix, and himself also. That way it wouldn't be as awkward, if you at least knew the person's name. Zero got up from the hot pavement, feeling uncomfortable. "I want to make a stop at my place, before we head to the pool," said Zero. "Just have some stuff to put away. But I'll help Felix find his dorm and bring his bags in first."

Caleb wished a breeze would come their way. He wasn’t one for sweating, at all. He avoided any real work in the sun and the only sport he was ever interested in was competitive swimming, the only other times when he was in the sun he was napping and was usually in the shade; so that didn’t really count. His dark eyes focused on Felix, as he already knew him, and he was speaking with him. “Ah, well I like an excuse for laziness.” he teased. Their intentions obviously were the pool, as Felix had pointed it out. But what was more intriguing, was that Felix had said, or at least implied, that the other male’s name was Zero. Was he serious? A small smirk came upon his lips but he didn’t mention the awkward thought of a name. He had certainly never heard anyone named Zero before, maybe it was a nickname. Sort of a cruel nickname, actually. “Uh, yeah. The pool sounds fine. It’s definitely warm enough for it.” he said, he wouldn’t mind taking a quick dip in. After all, it was one of his preferences and the thin shorts he was wearing could be used as swimming trunks.
Before Caleb could focus on another subject change, he found a third boy joining the small group. He was darker, obviously not Caucasian, and seemed to just want to be friendly. That wasn’t too strange. It was summer after all, might as well make some new friends. But the way Daniel introduced himself; it immediately made Caleb think of James Bond. ‘I’m Bond, James Bond’ thought Caleb in a long tune now. He refocused though, away from his thoughts. “Hey Smith, I’m Caleb Hanson.” he introduced himself. He wasn’t sure if Daniel wanted to be called by his last name, but Caleb just found it more appropriate to call him by his last name. He introduced himself as Smith first, it was stuck in Caleb’s head forever now.
Caleb turned his attention to Zero now. “So, your name’s Zero. Is that a nickname or your actual name?” his tone wasn’t the nicest of tones. But he wasn’t aiming to attack Zero based on his name. He was merely curious and slightly blunt. Why have such a name? Zero, amongst all things. It sounded like a cruel elementary school name for a kid who couldn’t win at any sports, for a loser. As Zero made another statement, Caleb thought he’d answer that question about his relation to Felix. “We met a little earlier on the boat ride over, got to know each other a bit.” answered Caleb pretty simply. He assumed Zero had just met Felix and probably didn’t know Daniel.
He watched Zero stand and offer to help Felix put his things away as well as stop at ‘his place’ first before the pool. Were they going to have a moment? It was the first thought in his mind. It could be innocent friendliness, but he snidely thought about Zero wanting to get alone with Felix. Caleb chewed on the inside of his cheek casually, to hold in an amused little laugh, he straightened his expression quickly enough and glanced to the three guys. “That’s fine. If Daniel wants to head down to the pool as well, we can meet you two there, or if Felix needs an extra hand with his things I’d be happy to help as well.” shrugged Caleb casually. This should be interesting. [/size]

Deja vu was always a weird sensation to explain. To see something again as if you had seen that exact moment in time before, whether in a dream, or unknowingly, was a creepy feeling. It sent a shiver of uncertainty down his spine and caused him to question again what had placed him on this earth. Sometimes, deja vu felt like deja fais. Or was it faire? His French was rusty, just like his Latin.
But the moment that had him questioning "Why are we here" was due to Mr. Smith. Daniel Smith, Smith, D, his roommate. Who introduced himself like James Bond. But he couldn't call someone younger than him Smith without laughing. He didn't look like a Smith anyway. Sure, Daniel fit, but Smith? It was moments like these when Felix was glad he had a last name like "Sbarge." At least he got excitement everyday when others tried to pronounce it from a list. As for Smith... it should have been back to the factory with that name. No wonder there were so many crazy variations...
Felix looked Daniel over, wondering what age he was. Definitely younger than himself, but that didn't both him so much. He was perfectly fine with rooming with anyone, so long as they didn't mind him. The game of debating animal shifts began anew, but Daniel was already far along in the deduction line. He had to be something fluffy. Why? Felix just had a gut feeling and Danny was cute like that. And he had to be something friendly and open. Mammal for certain.
He smiled at Zero's introductions of everyone, amazed he didn't get confused himself. But then, Felix had a good memory, so why couldn't others. Add that to Zero's animal shift list. "They just came 'cause they heard I was doing free wardrobes," he replied to Zero's popularity comment with a smiling roll of his eyes. He accepted Zero's offer to help him move his stuff, gesturing toward the rolling suitcase and picking up the duffel himself. Always polite to give up the easy jobs first. Well, the comparative easy jobs. It was a heavy suitcase, but easier to carry(drag) than the duffel.
Caleb, on the other hand, he politely denies, seeing as he could carry his own stuff. But he appreciated Caleb's offer, knowing Caleb knew he wasn't physically strong. "Thanks, Caleb, but Zero offered first. And I'm not that much of a weakling." The words reached back to a conversation they'd had on the boat, Caleb calling him a weakling for Felix saying he couldn't do sports. Felix just worried that his recent friend's words would come across as too blunt when he asked Zero about his name. Felix understood Caleb to be decent, just not as self-conscious as one might prefer in conversation. Hopefully Zero wouldn't be to offended by the tone of voice directed at him.
"No, Caleb, none of that." He could feel the crocodile Shifter's mind whirring in a bad direction. "Just because I'm bisexual doesn't mean I drag guys off into corners." He smiled again, shaking his head and turning to Zero with a mute request of lead the way and offered the boy the Post-It with his room number. He glanced back at Daniel. "Oh, wait, I'm your new roommate." He blushed a little, having forgotten so soon and so easily.
