Overall: [400 words minimum]
Despite the fun fur ball, Zero is actually pretty smart. He does well in school, which is surprising to his friends. Zero's intelligence can be best seen at work when he is play "mastermind" and coming up with insane tricks to play on people (at least during the night-time). Zero is very playful, and has lots of energy. Also, he's outgoing, and never shuts up around his friends. He carries duck-tape around with him to put over his mouth, which he usually does during classes which he shares with his friends. He loves to get a good laugh, but never means to hurt anyone. Zero only gets depressed if he sees or hears: depressed people, rap music, and animal abuse.
He can be very quiet around people he doesn't know, it's only around his good friends that he lets loose a little.
Though outgoing and friendly, Zero hides his innermost thoughts and feelings from everyone. This may be due to his past, where his father abused him. In a way, this makes him a better actor, because he can easily fake what he is feeling or thinking.
Zero loves his animal form, and actually sleeps as a mink. He feels very comfortable in his mink form. When Zero is extremely happy, he will make a purring sound like a cat, which he is a little embarrassed of. He is very independent and has been like that since a young age. Zero is a pack-rat, and stores all his belongings in small crevices. He is very territorial of his stuff, regardless if he is friendly or not. He hardly trusts anyone with his secrets. Zero never really tells people exactly what he wants or what is on his mind, even though he is very sociable. He can be an attention-seeker at times.
During the day, Zero can actually be sort of quiet (around strangers). It's the night-time when he begins to become devious (split personality...just a little). Zero can be serious when he wants to be, and knows when to be funny and when to be respectful. He respects most adults.
Around his friends, he can be a goof ball, and full of energy and ideas. Strangers will see him more serious. They would never guess what his true personality was, unless they look closely.
Adults see him as helpful, always asking if he can help in any way. He always does his homework. Still, Zero can mess around in class if he has friends he knows in it. Zero doesn't really mind authoritative figures, such as teachers. He doesn't let things bother him easily, although he gets disturbed if he sees someone in trouble or someone who is sad. He wants to go into Law Enforcement so that he can help catch abusive people like his dad, so that others won't have to go through what he had to.

Appearance: [400 words minimum]
Zero has a tattoo on his ankle of a mink. He go it when he was young, and takes great pride in it. It was soon after he was abandoned that he got it. It symbolizes his new life, his new identity, and is a reminder that he will never follow the path of his father. If anyone disagrees with him having a tattoo, he isn't going to be in a good mood. His tattoo means a lot to him.
He has blonde hair, which he spikes in the front. He never lets his hair get very long because it bothers him. Zero used to have dark brown hair, but decided to dye it when he took on his new identity. His eye color is a soft brown, which is friendly and inviting. He has tan skin, mostly because he likes spend his time outdoors whenever he can. His build is fairly strong, since he works out practically everyday.
In mink form, he has brown fur with a white muzzle. He also has small white markings that are on his throat and lower jaw. His eye color changes to black. His fur color is a dark brown, his nose being a lighter shade and his paws a dark black. It is also a lighter brown around his ears and muzzle.
Zero's attire is fairly simple. He likes wearing dark jeans, or black pants. Most of the time he will wear a simple teeshirt or have a long sleeve shirt over the teeshirt. He wears a dog tag with a paw print carved into it. Sometimes he will wear a watch. Other then that, he doesn't wear any other jewelry, though he likes to collect it and hide it in his "secret stash". He is a firm believer that earrings should be only worn by girls, and that guys who have pierced ears are just "girl wannabes". He could never imagine having his own ear pierced. Zero has a fear of needles, which is also an explanation for why he hates the idea of having a pierced ear. Though, he doesn't care if a girl has a pierced ears. Besides, having one's ear pierced just doesn't seem to make any sense to him.
Zero is about average height, which is fine with him. Zero hates dressing up and being formal, but for special events he will respect the dress code, even if he doesn't like it. He likes being more relaxed. He will wear sweats when he goes to the pool (in the winter and fall) but other then that he sticks to his own dress code. He doesn't usually wear shorts, although he will when it gets hot.[/size]

At an early age, Zero was abandoned as a result of shifting. His father was scared of him, and didn't want anything to do with the "monster" that he saw transform. After his shift, Zero was confused and dismayed. He wondered about for a bit before deciding to try to contact his sister for help. Zero didn't know about his sister being a shifter, as their father made her swear that she wouldn't tell anyone in the family. When Zero shifted, he tried to attack his father. His father believed his only son to be a demon sent to destroy him. His mother and sister did not know that her son could shift, nor was she ever informed of this trait. She learned later on of her husband's doing, divorced him, and found Zero. Her husband, Barry, had made it seem as if Zero, previously known as Luke, had run away. Zero has one sister, who is older than him by one year. The two are very close, and both can shift. When he was abandoned, he went to his sister for help. She told him about Shifter Academy, where she was enrolled herself. Barry also witnessed Meli's first shift, and as a result received deep several scars. He sent her off to the Academy as soon as he could, before his wife could know about what had happened. His harsh treatment against Zero only intensified after that.
Barry-Zero refuses to even say his name, or call him "father". He hates talking about his past. His father was a drunk, and abused Zero and his mother. He was the reason they had financial problems. He is very closed to others, even his own wife. He married Zero's mother simply for the money, though she didn't. Barry has been to jail several times, and is currently in jail for life. The reason? For killing one of his sons. It was just before the divorce, and Barry had been drinking especially heavy that night. Barry and his son Jordan got into an argument. Jordan was trying to convince his dad to shape up, and to stop his lifestyle of smoking and drinking. It was also the night that Zero shifted.
Alice-Zero's mother. She always tried to protect Zero from his father. She never stood up for herself, or for her son because she was afraid of what her husband would do. Zero forgave his mother and is still sees her on holidays. The two never mention Barry.
Great Grandfather-On his father's side. He was a shifter as well, a weasel to be exact. He was a criminal in his prime (theft). He died a couple years after Zero was born. When he saw Zero, he vowed to change his ways for the sake of his grandson. He didn't want Zero to turn out the way he did. He begged his own pathetic son to change his ways as well, but Barry only got mad at his father.
Meli-Year older then Zero, also a shifter. She can shift into a snow leopard. Indy feels bad for leaving Zero alone and thinks that it is her fault he was abandoned. She works hard in school so that she doesn't have to end up in the same situation her family did. She is romantic, and a dreamer. Indy hopes for a better life for her brother, and is often very protective of him. At school, she is constantly making sure he is on top of everything in schoolwork.
Jordan-Zero's twin. The two were very close. Zero was torn when his brother died. Jordan died just before Zero shifted, so it is unknown if he would have been a shifter also. If it wasn't for Meli, Zero would have gone into depression. In fact, he wanted to kill Barry for a long time but Meli restrained him. Jordan's death signified a turning point in Zero's life.

[One Paragraph Minimum (Can be point form)]
-Genetics: Weasels and minks are in the same family. Zero's grandfather shifted into a weasel.
-Swimming: Zero is a good swimmer, even before he shifted. Minks are semi-aquatic, therefore they are also natural swimmers.
-Territorial: Minks, especially males, can be very territorial over their territory. Zero is territorial over his own items he collects (but doesn't steal).
-Seafood: One of Zero's favorite foods. His diet is very similar to the mink's.

Before Zero had first shifted, he lived in a very unstable environment. His father was a drunk, his mother unwilling to stand up for her own son. He was known as Luke Stiller, a name that he would soon shed on his thirteenth birthday. Barry never told his wife, Alice, about his own father's shifting ability. Or that his own son had the chance of inheriting this gene. In fact, he hardly told his own wife anything, unless it had to do with financials.
Barry, Zero's father, had always believed that those who shifted into animals came from the devil himself. He despised his own father because of this, and hated his son even more when the same thing happened to him. This belief could have come from his own, secret jealousy, or because of his terrible fear of shifters. Barry has gone to jail several times. Mostly for driving drunk.
This night was one of those nights. Barry, who Zero refused to call dad, was particularly drink that night. He was sitting on the porch, yelling and cursing at Zero. He continued to tell Zero how disappointed he was in him, and that Zero was just an accident. Zero had heard the speech many times.
It was raining particularly hard that night Zero transformed. He was outside, chopping wood and putting it in the storage shed behind the house, since they couldn't afford their own heating. His father yelled at him to hurry up. Though not physically abused by his father, the harsh words his father spoke was like getting struck by lightning. On that night, Zero decided that he wasn't going to live like he was anymore. He vowed to create a better life for himself. He wasn't going to carry the curse of his family, where the fathers abused their children. For once in his life, Zero stood up to his father. But Jordan beat him to it.
"Why are you always drinking?" demanded Jordan, walking out of the house. He ripped the bottle from the drunk man's hand. "Do you have any sense? This is Luke's birthday, and mine too! Yet you sent him out here to chop wood, and are yelling profanities at him!"
"Give me the beer, you worthless piece of s***! Or I'll send you out there with yer brother."
"That's why I came out, actually. To help my brother." Jordan glared at his father, then tipped the beer bottle up-side down. The beer stained the white wood and trickled through the cracks.
"Scum bag!" screamed Barry, slamming his fist on the table and standing. He grabbed Jordan by the neck with his left hand. With his right, he reached back and grabbed the pistol that lay on the table. With unsteady hands, he placed it against Jordan's head.
"Stop!" pleaded Zero, running up the stairs with the axe in his hands. "Please stop!" Tears ran down his cheek. He held the axe, ready to drive it into his father. But he was too late. The gunshot rang out, echoing through the empty streets. Announcing a new death.
"I hate you," screamed Zero at his father. He started to swing the ax, but before he could Barry ripped it from his hands. Barry threw the gun and the ax to the side, and towered over his son.
"Happy birthday," he sneered. "I'll let you live...for the night. Consider it your gift." Having said that, he shoved Zero to the ground. Barry kicked Zero and laughed.
"You were always the weakest link in the family."
That's when it happened. Zero let out a scream, but not one of anger. It was one of unbelievable pain and distraught. His father backed away as he saw his son shift. With a quiver, and a shout, Zero transformed. Barry ran into the shed, grabbing a net.
"Curse this boy," he hissed as he raced back out into the rain. He looked around, but he couldn't see the mink that was once his son. Suddenly, he saw a blur. A sharp pain burst in in his leg as teeth met skin. Barry roared with uncontrolled rage, ripping the mink off his leg. Zero managed to bite his father's hand, as well as leave several deep scratches on his arm before he was finally trapped in the net.
"Alice, call animal control!" shouted Barry as he ran up the steps, "Get a sturdy box, while you're at it." Blood dripped on to the porch, staining the white wood.
